The term ‘innovation capability’ has been used recurrently in the innovation literature, but there is still considerable divergence about its meaning and implication to organizations. A consensus exists that, to innovate, organizations must possess innovation capability, and that the ownership of this feature is not a binary process, but rather an evolutionary level process. This evolutionary logic is analogous to the basic structure of organizational maturity models. However, the literature integrating innovation capability into a maturity perspective is still limited. Considering these premises, from a broad bibliographical research, this article presents a framework of reference to represent the entire theoretical domain of innovation capability. Its purpose is to classify the main types of models about this construct available in the reference literature. It is organized at increasing levels of complexity, so that each level creates the conceptual conditions for the construction of more comprehensive models. Similar to the main use cases for maturity models, there are three basic levels for the framework: descriptive; comparative; and, finally, prescriptive models of innovation capability. Considering this cumulative framework, the authors argue that, to be fully understood, innovation capability should be studied using the perspective of maturity models.

The fundamental source of the reflection make up the theoretical-empirical data referring to a phenomenon, which in the era of technological progress is of particular importance: the phenomenon of screen time. Besides defining the key term screen time refers to all activities done in front of a screen. This includes: using a computer, watching TV, playing video games (Kaneshiro, 2015), the paper provides an overview of research results concerning the opportunities and threats arising from the use of new media, as well as recommendations for education on the need for media literacy among the younger generation (Szkudlarek, 1999; Tanaś, 2010, 2011).

Mistaken identity and bad aim have been traditionally accepted as the two textbook situations where the doctrine of transferred malice has found application. By reference to a cross-section of academic sources as well as case law from a number of common law jurisdictions, three core elements of transferred malice are identified: the intent of the defendant, the consequence that befalls the unintended victim, and public intuitions with regard to resulting harm. The overarching conclusion of the considerations consists in reaffirming the role of factual contingencies in deciding cases as well as the existence of a significant policy element which has caused, the paper submits, judges to subsume under the umbrella term of transferred malice cases which could satisfactorily be explained by means of other legal concepts, most notably remoteness, foreseeability or negligence.

The concept of competitiveness has been addressed by economic theorists and policy makers for several hundreds of years, with both groups trying to understand the drivers of economic prosperity and social welfare. This contribution does not aim to address all theoretical thoughts that may contribute to understanding the roots of the competitiveness of locations. The goal is to address the major useful theoretical contributions that permit to identify the main drivers of a territory’s competitiveness and therefore to assess the competitiveness of a specific location according to strong criteria. The first section presents the major contributions found in the classical and neo-classical theories. The second section and the third section concentrate on two majors schools providing significant thoughts on the competitiveness of locations: the Economic Geography (EG) School and the International Business (IB) School.

This paper aims to recount a shared experience of some psychology students – an intellectual adventure of exploring one’s own approach towards human relations and nature on the way to becoming a psychotherapist. To become practitioners, the students need to choose a certain psychotherapeutic training based on one of the main psychotherapeutic theoretical approaches. The following are mentioned in this paper: psychoanalysis, cognitivebehavioral therapy, humanistic/existential and the postmodern narrative approach. Exploring the assumptions underlying different modalities and practices is also considered here to be an ethical challenge. It is reckoned that the choice of a specific psychotherapeutical practice bound to a theory shapes the identity of the therapist and the patients, forms the language and behaviour through which the future therapist will express his own Self and influence the Other. Referring to postmodern inspirations, the author speaks in favour of making an endless effort of recognizing the assumptions underlying different practices – as the only way for not taking a potentially violent and impervious attitude in the relationship between the therapist and the patient.

n the article I discuss the conceptual problem of other minds and different approaches to mental concepts. Firstly, I introduce the conceptual problem and argue that solutions proposed by theory-theory and direct perception approach are inadequate. I claim that mental concepts are neither theoretical terms nor observational terms. Then, I consider third option which states that mental concepts are dispositional terms, i.e. they concern particular patterns (stereotypes) of behavior. Finally, I argue that dispositional approach is to some extent coherent with phenomenological account and that phenomenological concept of embodiment can improve this position.

Due to this reason business organizations more frequently stress social initiatives, which present an organization as an active member of the community, which cares for employees, environment, and society. This article discusses whether principles of social responsibility being implemented at business organizations can be adjusted at universities as well. Social responsibility renders great challenges for universities that pursue to educate young people able to responsibly deal with social problems. Latour’s Black Box is a dynamic gateway that segregates the continuum of scientific processes into those that occur before and after a certain critical point: the shift from ‘science in the making’ to ‘ready made science’. For reasons that will be explored in this paper, the field of data science does not appear to follow a unidirectional heuristic in the way that technologies transition from ‘in the making’ to ‘ready made’. This paper is a theoretical analysis of the extent to which the fundamental technologies of data science either violate or adhere to this heuristic. If data science does not follow a unidirectional heuristic, is there any evidence as to the causes of this dynamic and, furthermore, are the limitations, as they may exist, a function of technological advancement or a function of the theoretical limits of the field of data science itself?
