The article analyses Polish linguistic elements noted in Arrivals, a novel by A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, which describes the events on the border of Russia and Poland which occurred shortly after 1613. Words of Polish origin are presented in all the parts of speech; they are tasked with conveying the local Polish atmosphere and the characteristic speech of Poles as well as people of non-Polish origin (Jews, Russians) who came into contact with Poles.

In the text were presented numerous and in-depth relations of the Russian emigration poet, for years staying in Paris, with Poland. Attention was drawn to the translation work and to the translation of Polish prose texts, above all distinguishing Gorbaniewska’s translation achievements in relation to the poets and the Polish poetry itself. The poetess’ articles, reviews and statements bringing the Russian reader closer to the Polish culture, historical and political events as well as current facts were also discussed. Gorbaniewska’s original poems devoted to Polish political activists, filmmakers, editors and representatives of literature were described.

The following text is on the Polish and Russian religiousness from the comparative aspect. The authoress carried out the associative experiment on the population of 100 people. It concerned the examination of immediate reactions on the word (respectively) temple/xpam. The acquired results are the subject of the analysis forming the basis for the conclusions concerning few similarities and many differences between attitude towards religiousness in Poland and Russia.

The present paper is devoted to the problem of repetition as a means of expressing emotions on the syntax level in Russian and in Polish. Not only individual lexemes can be repeated, but also phrases with the predicative function or even whole sentences. The number of repetitions may also vary – double ones are most common in both languages under investigation, multiple ones are rare in the data. Triple repetitions are relatively popular only in the Russian material. Repetitions are usually accompanied by other means of expressing emotions: exclamatory intonation, particles, emotional exclamations, comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs, comparisons, etc.

The author draws attention in the text to the fixed phrases functioning in the Polish and Russian languages, whose lexical components, on joining to form the phrase, are in contradiction to the norms of the so called semantic valence. The phrases are an echo of the rules of the carnival concept of the ≪world upside-down≫, in which all existnig norms and rules are transgressed. The analysed phrase corpus permits a conclusion that it is in its entirety anthropocentric of character and refers to various aspects of evaluating of man. The examined phrases are not only exaples of peculiar innovations in phrase units, but also result of deliberate act of creation, based on rules of carnivalisation of language.

The material to this article is based on the newest comparative dictionaries of Russian and Polish languages and also on other dictionaries, mostly explanatory dictionaries. Coloristic compa- rative constructions present a very interesting subject of linguistic research, from the one hand as a convenient instrument to research on human perceptions categorization. On the other hand- as a wide cultural and evaluative-estimating material. Some of the coloristic comparative expres- sions are characteristic for certain style of language only. A particular place in the article is taken up by the analysis of the semantic distribution of the analysed constructions in Russian and Polish language. With regard for it, the research material is divided onto three groups. The first group is constituted by constructions having an unlimited distribution, which can define with regard for the color any subject of an extralinguistic reality. The second group is assembling the constructions with a limited cohesion, in which group comes to reducing the potential objects to some class of expressions only. To the last group, can be included coloristic colorful expressions, defining with regard for the color, a semantically very limited group of words only. A frequency of using these or other comparative expressions is not directly dependant on a semantic distribution of the discussed constructions.

This article provides an overview of the dictionaries of the Polish criminal jargon, which were published before 1930s. Particular attention is paid to the dictionaries and works of the 19th century, because it is at this time that most of the works of such authors as Estreicher, Kurka, Ludwikowski and Walczak appeared. A special place is given to the description of the work of G. Ulashin, who, on the basis of the work of K. Rusiecki, compiled a dictionary reflecting the criminal jargon of the 1840s. We also consider the phraseological units that were selected from the lexicographical works of the authors mentioned, as well as that of S.Udziela, J. Łoś, J. Jaworski and A. Landau. We attempted to compare four dictionaries from the point of view of the content of some phraseological units in them, and also to explain the reasons for the discrepancies. The analysis data are given in the table. There we give the assumptions about the origin of the units.
W niniejszym artykule dokonano przeglądu słowników polskiej gwary przestępczej, które zostały opublikowane do lat 30. XX wieku. XX wiek. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na słowniki i dzieła XIX wieku, ponieważ w tym czasie powstaje większość dzieł leksykograficznych takich autorów jak Estreicher, Kurka, Ludwikowski i Walczak. Szczególne miejsce zajmuje praca H. Ułaszyna, który na podstawie twórczości K. Rusieckiego opracował słownik odzwierciedlający gwarę przestępczą z lat czterdziestych XIX wieku. Zwrócono uwagę na jednostki frazeologiczne wybrane z utworów leksykograficznych wspomnianych autorów, a także S.Udzieli, J. Los, J. Jaworskiego i A. Landau. Podjęta została próba porównania czterech słowników z punktu widzenia zawartości w nich niektórych jednostek frazeologicznych, a także wyjaśnienia przyczyn rozbieżności. Otrzymane wyniki wraz z hipotezą o pochodzeniu przytaczanych jednostek frazeologicznych przedstawiono w tabeli.

The author touches on the question of presence of an evaluative element in the realizations of verbs вадеть / widzieć (‘to see’) on the basis of lexicographical material. The analysis shows that apart from evaluating of the visual perception as value in itself in the context of important life functions, the verbs вадеть / widzieć (‘to see’) create a base for evaluative expressions in relation to other elements of reality, clearly emphasizing the priority of the visual perception in the linguistic world’s image.

Before I proceed to further detailed and developed arguments, I would like to present the main research problem involving the following question: how did the Border Protection Forces evolve in the years 1945–1965 from the perspective of the legal system and the constitutional law in particular. The constitution referred to above is not the basic law “as such”, in common parlance, but it is the constitution present in the course of the evolution of the legal status of the Frontier Protection Forces. This article is mainly focused on this constitution, although, apart from that, it contains the spectrum of legal and constitutional schemes adopted in different periods of the functioning of the Border Guard Forces in their constitutions. It is therefore immanent to present the process of the functioning of the Border Guard Forces – the origin and evolution of legal norms in the light of the constitution and the whole system of law, as well as the changes taking place in the system of law in the time-space between 1945 and 1965. Taking into account the defined objectives, it turned out to be necessary to present the work from a historical perspective. The chronology of facts is important for the discussed subject matter, as it helps to systematize the deliberations. The structure of the work has been adapted to the above principles of this publication. It begins with a legal-historical part introducing the subject of the tradition of constitutionalism in Poland. It presents the reasons for the creation and the process of subordination of border formations to various institutional solutions, and systematizes the legal and organizational transformation of the Border Protection Forces created in 1945 as a separate type of troops by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs as part of the People's Army of Poland. The Border Protection Forces repeatedly revised its structural-bureaucratic subordination from the Ministry of National Defence through the Ministry of Public Security to the Ministry of the Interior and vice versa. The general research method became a legal-historical method to reconstruct the past state of affairs, the evolution of the legal status of the Border Protection Forces.

G. Gachev’s book Russia’s neighbours Poland, Lithuania, Estonia continues the author’s reflections on peculiarities of the national world of different peoples. The basic concepts in the system of G. Gachev’s national world are Cosmos, Psyche, Logos. Important coordinates – Space and Time, Gonia (created by Nature, genesis) and Urgia (created by Labour), male and female origins, vertical and horizontal, the hierarchy of four elements. The researcher reconstructs the national world of Poland substantiating on these universal categories. First of all he introduces the concepts „polskost” and „polstvo”. The first one belongs to spiritual sphere, the second is the unity of material and corporal.
