Opis:
Biblioteki pełnią różnorodne funkcje we współczesnym otoczeniu społecznym. Uczestniczą w tworzeniu kapitału intelektualnego i społecznego, wpływają na wzrost korzyści ekonomicznych użytkowników i całego społeczeństwa. W artykule omówiono główne podejścia i metody badawcze w zakresie oceny korzyści ekonomicznych płynących z funkcjonowania bibliotek. Skupiono się na metodzie analizy kosztów w stosunku do korzyści (ang. CBA – cost-benefit analysis), metodzie analizy warunkowej (ang. CVM – contigent valuation method), określaniu wartości dodanej dla użytkownika (ang. consumer surplus method) i metodologii oceny stopy wzrostu z inwestycji (ang. ROI – return of investment). Przeanalizowano również różne projekty badań prowadzone na świecie w tym zakresie.
Libraries play different important roles in contemporary society. They contribute to advancement of intellectual and social capital and have a particular impact on economic benefits of their surroundings. This paper gives an overview of the main approaches to library economic impact research. These include: cost effectiveness research, CBA – cost-benefit analysis, CVM – contigent valuation method, consumer surplus method and ROI (Return of Investment). In addition, the author analyses different available research initiatives in this area.

Międzynarodowa oferta IBFD obejmuje: niezależne badania podatkowe oraz badania unijnego międzynarodowego prawa podatkowego; edukację; międzynarodową informację podatkową; doradztwo rządowe. Współpraca Instytutu z Polską i polskimi profesorami prawa podatkowego została nawiązana w latach 60. ubiegłego wieku i wykazuje tendencję rozwojową.
The International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) holds a dominant role globally, its mission, since 1938, being to offer quality information and educate in the field of international taxation. The organisation has seventy experts from over thirty countries, along with the contributing correspondents in 120 countries, and keeps the world’s largest tax library. IBFD’s international offer includes independent tax/fiscal studies and research into the international tax law of the EU; education; international tax information; and, government consulting. IBFD’s cooperation with Poland and Polish tax law professors dates back to the 1960s and has been developing ever since.

The contribution discusses the choice of language of French Germanists in their scientific publications. Contrary to the international academic world and the spreading of English in it, this pilot study to a bigger survey shows that the discipline of German Studies in France only uses two languages: German as the object language and the lingua franca of the guild, and French as meta-language and conveying code for the national language community. However as a recent development a slight Anglicisation can be observed.

This paper focuses on an African street experienced as profoundly contradictory. It departs from Adeline Masquelier`s observation that this landscape is an object of both fascination and terror, and a space of both fear and desire. The street offers jobs, goods and economic opportunities, but it can also lead to isolation, marginalization and fatalities. The paper is based on field research undertook in Omdurman in 2013 and granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The article shows the role of Prof. Władysław Kuraszkiewicz in creating and developing Byelorussian investigations in Poland after World War II. In the interwar period he investigated Russian dialects in Podlasie, Polesie and Helm Regions. In 1937 he was the first to collect rich dialectae materials in 70 villages between the Bug and the Narew Rivers, which he published in 1939 The Outline of east-slavonic dialectology with examples of dialectal texts, and edition, Warsaw 1963, made him famous. Prof. Kuraszkiewicz was the reviewer of the first three volumes of the Atlas of East Slavonic Dialects of Bialystok Region (Wrocław 1980–1993). Before 1985 he initiated the investigations of the Atlas of East Slavonic Dialects of the Bug River Region, carried out by to teams: the Institute of Slavistic Studies in Warsaw and the Institute of Slavistic Studies UMCS in Lublin. He also contributed to the development of scientific personnel. He promoted and reviewed the doctor`s and assistant-professor research. He supported the development of Byelorussian studies and set up “International Association of Byelorussists and Polish Byelorussists Society”.

Between literary and cultural comparative studies The article constitutes an attempt to present in a synthetic way the main assumptions behind the fundamental trends in the comparative studies of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as their evolution. Following the predominance of the influential model which had developed since the middle of the 19th century and focused chiefly on the genetic research of literary affiliations, and which had assumed the existence of a national literature as an organic entity, since the sixties of the 20th century, there arises a new perspective in comparative studies, where the fundamental role is played by thematic and structural categories (motif, concept, topic, genre, current etc.). The nineties of the 20th century bring yet another attempt to reformulate the methods of comparative studies and to abandon focusing on literary studies, in favor of cultural research in comparative studies, where the fundamental role is played, among others, by issues such as the concept of power, gender, race and also review and multi-, inter- and transculturalism

The author addresses the position of narratives in the field of educational studies, the meaning of narratives, methodological conditions for research into narratives as well as the possibilities and limits of interpretation related to narrative research. The author argues for the importance of narratives for educational studies, because as a field of knowledge and academic discipline it relies on access to particular forms of individual experience. Educational studies need access to experience related to the subjectivities of those involved in educational processes – educators and pupils. Narratives as a departure point for learning about and understanding another person, her relations with others, intentions and course of her educational actions – as an educator or a pupil – is an important area for educational studies, which promises to open new perspectives of knowledge.

Prezentowany artykuł dotyczy ewaluacji transdyscyplinarnego studium łączącego badaczy z dwóch różnych dyscyplin: psychologii oraz literaturoznawstwa. Zespół pracujący nad tym projektem analizował wypowiedzi osób dorosłych o ich życiu zgodnie z metodą analizy literaturoznawczej. Na etapie interpretacji wykorzystywano autorską metodę badań jakościowych w psychologii. Efekt tych badań został poddany recenzji przez psychologa, który zadeklarował, że artykuł ocenił zgodnie z zasadami oceny badań psychologicznych. W artykule prezentujemy pola nieporozumień, które rodzą się w relacji między tak skonstruowanym badaniem, a tak zaprojektowaną recenzją. Wskazujemy główne zasady, które – naszym zdaniem – powinny towarzyszyć recenzentom badań o charakterze transdyscyplinarnym.
The presented article concerns the evaluation of a transdisciplinary study carried out by researchers from two different disciplines: psychology and literary studies. The team working on this project analyzed  adults’ narrations about their lives, applying  the method of literary study analysis. At the stage of interpretation we used an original method of qualitative research in psychology. The effect of this research was subject to review by a psychologist, who declared that our article had been rated in accordance with  the principles of psychological research assessment. This article presents the areas of misunderstanding which result from  the relationship between  a study and  a review constructed in the aforementioned respective manners. We point out the main principles, which, in our opinion, should  accompany  people reviewing  studies  of a  transdisciplinary nature.

Childhood and childhood are socio-cultural constructs whose form has changed in social history and in cultural-geographical space, conditioned by a number of different factors. The interdisciplinary discourse contains numerous proposals for systematizing these constructs based on various specification criteria. The article proposes a general systematization of these constructs in the perspective of their timeliness. The changing image of the child and childhood is of primary importance for the character of social and educational relations between children and adults. It has moreover caused a transformation of the image of research relations. Since the idea of children’s rights came into being, a new paradigm of research – childhood studies – has been developing, characterized by a specific ontological and epistemological dimension as well as its own approach to methodological solutions. These aspects are discussed and presented in the second part of the article.

Kształcenie dziennikarzy i ludzi mediów ma istotny wpływ na system medialny, a także pośrednio wpływa na system polityczny. Polskie badania medioznawcze nie ograniczają się jedynie do współpracy instytucjonalnej i udziału w konferencjach – ich efektem są m.in. publikacje na łamach czasopism naukowych oraz tworzenie międzynarodowych zespołów badawczych. Wielu polskich uczonych pracuje w zagranicznych ośrodkach uniwersyteckich. Efekty tych badań są uzależnione od wielkości środków kierowanych na naukę, a ponieważ są one niewystarczające, dlatego niezbędna jest koordynacja badań i wyznaczenie ich najważniejszych kierunków.
Educating journalists and media workers has a significant influence on the media and political system. Polish media studies’ research is not restricted merely to institutional cooperation and participation in conferences but also takes form of scientifi c publications and the existence international research teams. Many Polish scholars work at foreign universities. Effects of the research depend on the funds directed towards science. These funds are scant, therefore coordination of research and setting its most important directions becomes essential.

Ponieważ analizy obejmujące w swej istocie szereg aspektów krajobrazu i perspektyw badawczych stają się coraz bardziej popularne, proponujemy zainicjowanie interdyscyplinarnego projektu skupiającego fachowców i wiedzę różnych dyscyplin naukowych, pozwalającego na zintegrowanie ich wysiłków i dzielenie się informacjami na temat roli krajobrazu w życiu człowieka oraz metod jego badań i ochrony.
Multidisciplinary landscape studies create a unique opportunity to trace cultural and environmental transformations and move us closer to understanding the distance that humanity have covered for the hundreds thousands years of its development. This is because the cultural “multi-layer structure” is an inherent feature of landscape, making it a kind of a palimpsest. During last years analysis dealing with many aspects of the landscape and its research perspectives are becoming more and more popular, we would like r to initiate an interdisciplinary project which will bring together efforts of experts and knowledge of various disciplines, and will allow us to integrate and share results of their analysis on the role of landscape in human life as well as will develop methods of its research and protection.

The article presents the results of research conducted in the master degree thesis, prepared at the Institute of Theory of Literature, Theatre and Audiovisual Arts, University of Lodz, under the supervision of prof. Assoc. Jarosław Płuciennik. First I present a theoretical and methodological frame of analysis of the text (especially taken form cognitive psychology of concepts: category, categorization, prototype and similarity), the second I present interpretation of terminology in relation to the concept genre and based on it doing a cognitive analysis such categories as: epic poem, heroic poetry or monk heroic poetry, based on Trans-Atlantyk by Witold Gombrowicz. The summary is an attempt to reference the conclusions derived from the analysis to the debate on the nature of the two aestethic categories – ‘style’ and ‘stylization’. These concepts are not – I suppose – immanent properties of the text, but mental constructs, first existing on mind of cognizing person. The cognitive methodology allows this aspect capture and describe.
