Opis:: Demographic transformations caused by economic and social changes results in negative changes in the demographic structure of the Polish society. The number of children has been decreasing. According to the demographic forecasts, this tendency is going to continue. The current situation requires adjustment of the education system to the changing number of the pupils' (students') population. Initially these changes concern kindergartens and primary schools. In the future, they are also going to be observed in schools at higher than the lowest one levels of education. As the consequence of demographic transformations, the population at the working age is also going to face some serious problems. Therefore, the education system reaction to all these changes should be not only limited organizational changes in the kindergartens and schools, but it should also include adjustments of school programmes.

Opis:: Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania jest przedstawienie w długim okresie dynamiki demograficznej Polski. Pomimo wyraźnej odmienności, przeobrażenia demograficzne Polski zachodziły w sposób ewolucyjny według wyraźnie określonych cykli czasowych, poczynając od młodości demograficznej i wysokich współczynników przyrostu naturalnego a kończąc na stanie, w którym urodzone dzieci nie mogą zrekompensować ubytku naturalnego wywołanego wysoką umieralnością. Przejście od I do V fazy transformacji demograficznej trwało w Polsce ponad dwieście lat. Zmiany te były ściśle skorelowane z rozwojem gospodarczym, w tym z procesami urbanizacji, industrializacji i modernizacji społecznej. Nasilające się procesy depopulacyjne w większości państw europejskich przyniosą istotne konsekwencje migracyjne. Nieunikniony napływ do Europy, a zwłaszcza do państw Unii Europejskiej, wielomilionowych mas migrantów z III świata stanie się jednym z ważniejszych problemów społecznych. Konsekwencje tych masowych przemieszczeń międzykontynentalnych nie będą miały wymiaru tylko demograficznego, ale również polityczny i ekonomiczny.
This article discusses a long-term demographic perspective for Poland. Irrespective of their diversified nature, the changes in the demographic structure of the Polish society have been evolutionary and took place in a phased manner. Starting with an early stage, when the birth rate was high, and ending in a situation where the number of newly-born children cannot make up for high mortality rate. It took over 200 years for Poland to move from phase I to V. The evolution has been strictly connected with the economic development of the country, including its urbanization, industrialization and social modernization. The aggravating population decline in the majority of the European states are about to evoke high-scale migration processes. The inevitable flow of migrants from the underdeveloped and developing parts of the world to Europe, and to EU in particular, will soon become a major social concern. The consequences of population displacements between continents will also affect its economic and political functioning.

Opis:: The problem of low economic activity in Poland, in particular among the young and the elderly is associated with a number of factors including the situation on the labour market and the construction of social security system. Additionally, unfavorable economic trends related to lower fertility and population ageing make the issue of stimulating economic activity in Poland of high priority. Therefore, the aim of this article is the analysis of the most important factors determining the activity of Poles with a special reference to demographic factors. The main emphasis was put on the analysis of labour force participation of people who are informal carers and on the needs and possibilities of long-term care for the elderly.

Opis:: As a result of demographic changes taking place in Germany the population is declining and with it the labor resources. As the consequence of this phenomenon enterprises face the increasingly difficult problem of recruiting the appropriate employees. It can be noticed that simultaneously the share of older employees is increasing. That is why the undertaken actions tend on one hand to temper the consequences of employee shortage, on the other they enable older people further professional development, with a simultaneous adjustment of work load to their physical ability. Based on previous research it can be summarized that the scope and type of the instruments applied in German enterprises depend in a significant degree on the field of their business activity as well as their size.

Opis:: Modern cities are social and economic organisations whose objective is to cater for the needs of its users. The practices they employ in doing so are, however, a far cry from those used by businesses. A city would subject its economics to social and environmental conditions and thus elects the social objectives as prevalent. Urban logistics ties in perfectly with that, subscribing to social logistics each time when those objectives are achieved by shaping flows of materials and people. Logistics comes to the fore here, by facilitating deployment of correct, from viewpoint of shaping material flows, measures aimed at equal opportunities for elderly and disabled. Specific requirements, with which urban spaces should be compliant to honour the needs of seniors and disabled, were described in the paper.

Opis:: The society aging process is inescapable in Poland, similarly as in other European countries. This is proved by the demographic data and clear increasing trends of life expectancy. The consequence is the escalation of the phenomenon of multiple morbidity in elderly people and their limited possibilities to live on their own. Those issues, coupled with the financial shortages of the health care system, pose a new challenge for the public payer, i.e. the National Health Fund (NFZ). In this paper, the author identifies and subsequently analyses and evaluates the necessary actions related to the process of elderly care in Poland. She seeks an answer to the question whether the Polish health care system is prepared, or is duly preparing, for this intensified obligation.
