    In the following article, an attempt is made to define basic approaches for a future successful design of German minority teaching in Poland. On the one hand, reference is made to the thirty-year history and current situation of teaching in Poland and, on the other hand, to the already researched fields of activity of German minority teaching in Eastern Europe. Linguistic as well as cultural and methodological aspects are explored. The contribution should be understood as a scientific suggestion to redefine the term minority language in a didactic context.

    This article is an attempt to reconstruct the biography of the Austrian painter and writer Hertha Karasek-Strzygowski, born in 1896 in what is now Bielsko-Biała, in the area of the so-called linguistic island of Bielsko-Biala in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This island existed from the Middle Ages until 1945. The article is also an endeavor to sketch the historical and multicultural background of the surrounding reality. This reconstruction is intended to give an insight into this ambiguous figure and her work. The article also draws attention to the fact that, although the author grew up in a multicultural environment, she almost completely ignores the existence of Polish and Jewish nationalities in her immediate surroundings, and mentions Polish people only vaguely and explicitly in a negative way. Surprisingly, she also does not mention the Second World War in connection with Poland, where her family had lived since 1914 and which she visited almost annually as an adult. The way she describes the reality of war gives the impression that it was exclusively a time of torment and fear, brought upon on the German people by the Soviet Union.

    Die Studie beschäftigt sich mit Unterrichtsfragen der deutschen Minderheit in Ungarn. Es wird kurz auf den sogenannten Volkskundeunterricht eingegangen, die jede/r Lernende einer Nationalitatenschule in Ungarn in einer Wochenstunde lernen soll. Es werden in der Folge die Forschungsergebnisse einer Online-Umfrage zum Volkskundeunterricht dargestellt. Das Ziel der Datenerhebung war zu erfahren, welchen Ausbildungshintergrund die Lehrpersonen haben, mit welchen Schwierigkeiten Lehrkr fte im Unterrichtsprozess konfrontiert werden und welche Ansprüche sie für Hilfeleistungen hatten. Es wurde auch nach der Attitüde ihrer SchülerInnen gefragt. Im Anschluss werden Empfehlungen für das Unterrichtswesen formuliert.
    The study deals with teaching issues of the German minority in Hungary. It briefly describes the so-called folklore lesson is dealt with, which every learner at a nationality school in Hungary should learn in one hour per week. Finally, we present the research results of an online survey on folklore teaching. The aim of the data collection was to find out what educational background the teachers have, what difficulties teachers are confronted with in the teaching process and what claims they have for assistance. Their students’ attitude was also asked. Subsequently, recommendations for the education system are formulated.

    Der Artikel bespricht wichtige Meilensteine aus der Geschichte der Primarschul-lehrerinnen für die deutsche Nationalität in Ungarn. Präsentiert werden: die erste derartige Anstalt, die vor 200 Jahren (1819) in Zipser Kapitel entstanden ist, die Ofner deutschsprachi- ge Lehrerbildungsanstalt, gegründet vor 80 Jahren (1939) in Budapest, sowie die Fakultät für GrundschullehrerInnen und ErzieherInnenbildung der Eötvös Loránd Universität zu Budapest, die derzeit populärste und größte PrimarschullehrerInnenbildungsinstitution in Ungarn. Ihr teilweise deutschsprachiger Ausbildungsgang bildet (Minderheiten)Päda- gogInnen für die Unterstufe der Volksschulen der ungarndeutschen Minderheit aus.
    The article presents important milestones in the history of primary school teacher training for the German nationality in Hungary. It is the first such institute founded 200 years ago (1819) in Zipser Kapitel/Spišská Kapitula, and the German-speaking teacher training institute, which was founded 80 years ago (1939) in Budapest. The Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education of the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest is also presented. It is currently the most popular and largest primary school teacher training institution in Hungary. Their partially German-language training course trains (minori- ties) educators for the lower grades of the elementary schools of the Hungarian-German minority.

    The article examines the language biographies of two generations of a family of German origin in the Czech Republic from the end of World War II to the present day. The content analysis of the biographies is based on the application of the narrative interview method developed in qualitative sociology. The analysis of the data obtained by this method follows the stages in the language use of the two informants in coping with the challenge of the language policies of the state.
    Artykuł analizuje biografie językowe dwóch pokoleń rodziny niemieckiego pochodzenia w Czechach od końca II wojny światowej do dnia dzisiejszego. Analiza treści biografii oparta jest na zastosowaniu metody wywiadu narracyjnego opracowanej w socjologii jakościowej. Analiza danych uzyskanych tą metodą przebiega zgodnie z etapami używania języka przez dwóch informatorów w radzeniu sobie z wyzwaniem polityki językowej państwa.

    Opis:
    One of the biggest imponderables in the process of Polish-German rapprochement at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s was the reaction of the Federation of Expellees (BdV) and its partner organizations. Despite the attempts undertaken by BdV to contest the final recognition of the Oder-Neisse border by the German state, the organization failed to gain allies. It had to accept the political reality and the decisions of the state, and find new areas of activity for itself, for which the Polish–German Treaty of Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation laid solid foundations.

    Volksspiele sind auf keinen Fall mit Zeitverschwendung gleichzusetzen, denn vor der Einführung der Grundschulpflicht war das Spiel die Schule für Kinder. Alles, was für ein Kind nötig war an Kenntnissen, Wissen und Fähigkeiten erlernte es während des Spiels. Diese Spiele förderten die Entwicklung des Kindes, wodurch es klüger und weiser werden konnte. In dieser Studie wird eine Gruppe von Volksspielen vorgestellt, zu denen die Kinder in ihrer Spieltätigkeit ihr Spielzeug selbst herstellten. Die Kinder arbeiteten mit natürlichen Materialien und lernten die verschiedenen Kulturtechniken kennen. So können wir behaupten, dass diese Spieltätigkeit die Einheit von Natur und Gesellschaft verwirklichte . Das Ziel dieses Aufsatzes ist diese Einheit am Beispiel der Ungarndeutschen darzustellen.
    Popular games are not a waste of time, as many may think. Before the introduction of primary school education, the game was the school of children. They learnt everything they needed while playing. Games and toys helped children become cleverer and wiser. In the article, we present a group of games with an object - the games in which an object is produced. Children worked with natural materials and learnt culture techniques better. It can be claimed that this type of play reflected the unity of nature and society. The study deals with the presentation of such unity by the German minority in Hungary.

    Vorliegende Studie beschreibt das Leben einer ungarndeutschen Gemeinde im Süden von Ungarn. Die Deutschen sind im 18. Jahrhundert aus der Gegend von Fulda in das Dorf Großnaarad gekommen, denn während der Türkenherrschaft verlor das Dorf seine Bevölkerung, die deutschen Kolonisten mussten dort das Leben neu aufbauen. Die Einwohner haben sich über mehrere Jahrhunderte mit Landwirtschaft und Handwerk beschäftigt. Heutzutage kämpft das Dorf mit der Abwanderung der Jugendlichen in die Städte, möchte aber seine wertvollen Traditionen und seine ungarndeutsche Identität weiterhin bewahren.
    The present study describes the life of a Hungarian-German community in the south of Hungary. The Germans came to the village of Gro naarad from the Fulda area in the 18th century, because during the Turkish rule the village lost its population and the German colonists had to start anew here. The inhabitants have been engaged in agriculture and handicrafts for several centuries. Nowadays the village is struggling with the emigration of young people to the cities but wants to continue to preserve its valuable traditions and its Hungarian-German identity.
