    This article discusses the problem of translating into German the elements of bird speech that appear in Julian Tuwim’s poems for children. The analysis will therefore focus on onomatopoeias, or longer passages of a sound-mimetic nature, which by their sound are meant to imitate the sounds made by birds. The main purpose of the article is to classify the difficulties involved in translating this type of text passages and to show what solutions the translator proposed in each problematic case. At the same time, the analysis is intended to illustrate the extent to which the characteristic sound effect used in the original was preserved in the translation of individual onomatopoeias. The basis for the analysis are two poems by Julian Tuwim that both at the level of content and language describe and vividly depict bird speech – they are “Ptasie Radio” (“Vogelradio”) and “Mowa Ptaków” (“Die Sprache der Vögel”). At the same time, it should be emphasized that the sound plane – above all, the onomatopoeia - comes to the fore in the case of the aforementioned poems and significantly affects the entire organization of the text. Onomatopoeic elements not only enrich the stylistic layer and poetic expression of these texts, but also imitate through linguistic means the sounds made by birds, thus attracting the attention of (especially the youngest) readers and stimulating their imagination. It is because of this fact that an in-depth translational analysis of the aforementioned phenomenon appears to be an extremely necessary task.
    Der Beitrag befasst sich mit der Problematik der Übersetzung ins Deutsche von Elementen der Vogelsprache in Kindergedichten von Julian Tuwim. Analysiert werden hier daher vor allem Onomatopöien bzw. komplexere lautmalerische Einheiten, welche dem Zweck dienen, Vogelsprache nachzuahmen. Das Hauptziel ist es, die mit der Übertragung von solchen Elementen verbundenen Schwierigkeiten zu klassifizieren und dabei zu untersuchen, welche Lösungen der Übersetzer in den jeweiligen problematischen Fällen vorgeschlagen hat. Gleichzeitig wird auch aufgezeigt, inwieweit der Klangeffekt bzw. die Klangwirkung der einzelnen lautmalerischen Textstellen in dem Translat berücksichtigt werden konnte. Die Grundlage der empirischen Analyse bilden zwei Gedichte von Julian Tuwim, welche sich sowohl inhaltlich als auch sprachlich auf das Phänomen der Vogelsprache beziehen, und zwar „Ptasie Radio“ („Vogelradio“) und „Mowa ptaków“ („Die Sprache der Vögel“). Hervorzuheben ist dabei, dass die Klangebene dieser poetischen Texte, darunter vor allem Lautmalerei, im Mittelpunkt der gesamten Textorganisation steht. Die Onomatopöien bereichern nicht nur die stilistische Ebene und den poetischen Ausdruck der erwähnten Gedichte, sondern sollen die in den Texten beschriebenen Phänomene sprachlich imitieren und dadurch die Aufmerksamkeit der (vor allem jüngeren) Rezipienten auf sich lenken sowie ihre Vorstellungskraft anregen. Gerade aus diesem Grund scheint eine gründliche translationsorientierte Auseinandersetzung mit dieser komplexen Problematik besonders relevant zu sein.

    Goethe’s Faust was long defined in Germany as an established part of literature lessons and as a part of canon, but a paradigm change in didactics and in literature science has challenged both. This essay takes a brief look at history of German-literature-lessons and at different methods of teaching and reading literature, especially Goethe’s Faust – analytical, productive and creative. It gives a survey about children’s books to Faust, comics and summaries and demonstrates the correlation between knowledge and reading comprehension.

    „Doktor (po)zostaje!”: Janusz Korczak jako postać literackaArtykuł bada, jak reprezentowana jest postać literacka Janusza Korczaka w europejskiej literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży na przestrzeni ostatnich czterdziestu lat. Równocześnie wskazuje na plurimedialność literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży jako medium pamięci, w którym przywołuje się Szoah zarówno na poziomie tekstu, jak i obrazu. W artykule w sposób szczególny podkreślony został transnarodowy charakter tej literatury, manifestujący się także w licznych tłumaczeniach opowieści o Januszu Korczaku. Poprzez tłumaczenia teksty te stają się częścią wielu literatur – można tu zastosować termin „literatury światowej” – wpisujących się nie tylko w narodową czy binarodową, ale także globalną pamięć kulturową. „Der Doktor bleibt!“: Janusz Korczak als literarische FigurDer Beitrag untersucht die literarische Repräsentation von Janusz Korczak in der europäischen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur der vergangenen vierzig Jahre. Dabei wird zugleich auf die Besonderheiten von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur als ein genuin plurimediales Erinnerungsmedium eingegangen, in dem sowohl auf Text- und auf Bildebene an die Shoah erinnert wird. In besonderer Weise perspektiviert wird außerdem der transnationale Charakter von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur, der sich auch in den zahlreichen Erzählungen über Janusz Korczak manifestiert. Durch den Akt von wechselseitigen Übersetzungen werden die Texte zu einem Bestandteil mehrerer Literaturen, so dass hier durchaus von Weltliteratur in dem Sinne gesprochen werden kann, dass sie sich nicht nur in ein nationales oder bi-nationales, sondern in ein globales kulturelles Gedächtnis einschreiben.
    This paper analyses the literary representation of Janusz Korczak in children’s literature of the past 40 years. The characteristics of children’s literature as a truly multimedia means of remembrance play a role when both words and pictures commemorate the Shoah. The many stories about Janusz Korczak can also point us towards the transnational character of children’s literature. Through translation, these stories become part of multiple (national) literatures, so that we can actually speak of a world literature that is not only part of a national or bi-national memory, but of a global, cultural one.

    Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit der Frage, inwiefern der schulische Religionsunterricht eine Brücke zwischen Jugend und Kirche sein kann, wobei die entsprechenden Dokumente des polnischen und des deutschen Episkopats, religionspädagogische Konzepte sowie Untersuchungen aus dem Bereich der Professionsforschung von Religionslehrern berücksichtigt werden. Das Hauptaugenmerk dieses Artikels liegt auf der Frage nach der Rolle der Vernunft im Prozess religiösen Lernens und, in Zusammenhang damit, zweier Ausrichtungen von Religionsunterricht im Sinne von „teaching religion“ und „teaching about religion“. Zum Schluss wird die Relevanz der Kindheit als Fundament der Brücke und die Bedeutung einer religiösen Früherziehung unterstrichen.
    This article deals with the question, if religious education at school can be a bridge between youth and church, considering corresponding documents of the polish and German episcopate, concepts of religious education and the research in the field of profession of religious education teachers. The main focus of the article lies on the meaning of reason in processes of religious education at school and related to this, two directions of religious education in the sense of „teaching religion“ and „teaching about religion“. Conclusively the meaning of childhood as the basis of the bridge and the importance of early religious education are underlined.

    The article contains some remarks concerning the trilingual development of my two children. Research on children’s language development and bilingualism has been known mainly in historic natural languages studies. So far, international auxiliary languages like Esperanto have been hardly considered so far in the research on language acquisition. Including Esperanto in such considerations yields valuable insight and findings. Interference and other peculiarities of Polish, German and Esperanto in the earlier period of language acquisition are illustrated with the aid of examples collected by the author of this article. Examples are related to spelling, vocabulary, morphology, syntax and semantics.
    Der Beitrag beinhaltet einige Bemerkungen über die dreisprachige Entwicklung meiner beiden Kinder. Untersuchungen über die kindliche Sprachentwicklung und Bilingualismus kennen wir hauptsächlich aus den historisch-natürlichen Sprachen. Plansprachen, wie Esperanto, wurden jedoch im Hinblick auf kindlichen Spracherwerb bisher kaum berücksichtigt. So lässt die Einbeziehung des Esperanto in derartige Betrachtungen eine Reihe interessanter Ergebnisse und Denkanstöße erwarten. Interferenzen und andere Eigentümlichkeiten des Polnischen, Deutschen und Esperanto in den früheren Phasen des kindlichen Spracherwerbs werden anhand der von der Autorin gesammelten Beispiele illustriert. Die Beispiele betreffen die Aussprache, Morphologie, Syntax und Semantik.
    Artykuł zawiera kilka uwag dotyczących trzyjęzycznego rozwoju dwójki moich dzieci. Badania nad rozwojem językowym dzieci i bilingwizmem znamy głównie z języków historyczno-naturalnych. Języki międzynarodowe skonstruowane, takie jak esperanto, prawie nie były do tej pory brane pod uwagę w badaniach dotyczących akwizycji języka. Uwzględnienie esperanta w tego rodzaju rozważaniach daje ciekawe wglądy i rozpoznania. Interferencje i inne osobliwości językowe we wcześniejszym okresie akwizycji języków zilustrowane zostały przykładami zebranymi przez autorkę artykułu. Przykłady dotyczą pisowni, słownictwa, morfologii, składni oraz semantyki.

    The article begins with an overview of the childhood conceptions found in literature for children’s and young people. The conception of childhood in the Enlightenment is directed towards the future. The characters are serious and strive to become better people. They are an example for the recipients. Romanticism, on the other hand, tries to undermine this idea, and evokes a golden age of childhood. The first type dominated Soviet literature for children and young people. This changed in the 21st century. The analysis of Sabitova’s, Emec’s, Wostokows’s, Krjukova’s, Murašova’s and Verkin’s novels shows how these childhood myths are successfully combined in modern books for children and young adults.

    Der Beitrag geht auf die Monografie "Lustige Gespenster" von Małgorzata Filipowicz ein, die sich mit den Techniken und Formen der Komik in Kinder- und Jugendbüchern der bekannten österreichischen Autorin Christine Nöstlinger beschäftigt. Die Analyse der Problematik führt zu der Schlussfolgerung, dass Nöstlingers Werk stark mit der Gegenwart verbunden ist. Ironie, Groteske, Parodie, Übertreibung, Häufung von absurden Situationen sind für die Schriftstellerin ein Mittel, zahlreiche Probleme des Alltags zu schildern. In den Büchern demythologisiert sie die Familie und traditionelle Rollenverteilung in der Gesellschaft, baut Stereotype ab und zeigt den negativen Einfluss autoritärer Erziehungsmethoden auf junge Menschen und die aus ihnen resultierenden Generationskonflikte.
    The paper is a presentation of the monograph "Lustige Gespenster" [Funny Phantoms] by Małgorzata Filipowicz, which is devoted to the techniques and forms of humour in the works for children and young adults by the Austrian author Christine Nöstlinger. The analysis of these aspects reveals a picture of literary output tightly correlated with the reality to date. Irony, grotesque, parody, exaggeration, accumulation of absurd situations are the ways and means the writer uses to present daily life full of problems. In her books she demythologizes family and traditional social roles, debunks stereotypes, shows the negative influence of authoritarian upbringing methods on young people and the ensuing intergenerational conflicts.
    Artykuł prezentuje monografię Małgorzaty Filipowicz "Lustige Gespenster", poświęconą technikom i formom komizmu w utworach dla dzieci i młodzieży austriackiej autorki Christine Nöstlinger. Z analizy tych zagadnień wyłania się obraz twórczości mocno osadzonej we współczesnych realiach. Ironia, groteska, parodia, przesada, nagromadzenie sytuacji absurdalnych to sposób pisarki na przedstawianie pełnej problemów codzienności. W swoich książkach dokonuje ona demitologizacji rodziny i tradycyjnych ról społecznych, obala stereotypy, pokazuje negatywny wpływ autorytarnych metod wychowania na młodego człowieka i wynikające z nich konflikty międzypokoleniowe.

    Volksspiele sind auf keinen Fall mit Zeitverschwendung gleichzusetzen, denn vor der Einführung der Grundschulpflicht war das Spiel die Schule für Kinder. Alles, was für ein Kind nötig war an Kenntnissen, Wissen und Fähigkeiten erlernte es während des Spiels. Diese Spiele förderten die Entwicklung des Kindes, wodurch es klüger und weiser werden konnte. In dieser Studie wird eine Gruppe von Volksspielen vorgestellt, zu denen die Kinder in ihrer Spieltätigkeit ihr Spielzeug selbst herstellten. Die Kinder arbeiteten mit natürlichen Materialien und lernten die verschiedenen Kulturtechniken kennen. So können wir behaupten, dass diese Spieltätigkeit die Einheit von Natur und Gesellschaft verwirklichte . Das Ziel dieses Aufsatzes ist diese Einheit am Beispiel der Ungarndeutschen darzustellen.
    Popular games are not a waste of time, as many may think. Before the introduction of primary school education, the game was the school of children. They learnt everything they needed while playing. Games and toys helped children become cleverer and wiser. In the article, we present a group of games with an object - the games in which an object is produced. Children worked with natural materials and learnt culture techniques better. It can be claimed that this type of play reflected the unity of nature and society. The study deals with the presentation of such unity by the German minority in Hungary.

    Der Beitrag widmet sich Gudrun Pausewangs geschichtserzählendem Kinder- und Jugendbuch Ich war dabei. Geschichten gegen das Vergessen (2004) und setzt sich mit der Inszenierung von Geschichte sowie mit der Erkenntnis und Bekenntnis von Schuld in der zeitgenössischen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur auseinander. Der Beitrag untersucht, auf welche Art und Weise und mit welcher Absicht die Themenkomplexe Nationalsozialismus und Holocaust in die deutschsprachige Kinder- und Jugendliteratur von Pausewang aufgenommen werden. Im Verlauf der Untersuchung wird deutlich, dass auch die Kinder- und Jugendliteratur einen geeigneten Ort für die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Nationalsozialismus bietet und einen Beitrag zur politischen Bildung der Kinder und Jugendlichen leistet. Die Geschichten führen vor, wie Kinder und Jugendliche mit der Durchsetzung der nationalsozialistischen Ideologie umgehen und zeigen traditionelle Muster der Verdrängung auf. Pausewang weist mit ihren Geschichten auf die individuelle und kollektive Bedeutung der Vergangenheitsaufarbeitung in Kinderbüchern hin.

Geschichten gegen das Vergessen (2004) Gudrun Pausewang i koncentruje się na problemie przedstawiania historii, rozpoznawania winy i przyznawania się do niej w kontekście współczesnej literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży. Bada, w jaki sposób i w jakim celu wprowadzana jest do literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży tematyka narodowego socjalizmu i holocaustu. Wykazuje, że również literatura dla dzieci i młodzieży umożliwia rozliczenie z narodowym socjalizmem i przyczynia się do politycznego kształcenia dzieci i młodzieży. Analizowane opowiadania problematyzują tradycyjne wzorce wypierania winy i pokazują, jak dzieci i młodzież podchodzą do propagowania ideologii nazistowskiej. Pausewang wskazuje swoimi opowiadaniami na indywidualne i zbiorowe znaczenie rozliczania się z przeszłością w książkach dla dzieci.
    The author of the article analyses the historical book for children and teenagers Ich war dabei. Geschichten gegen das Vergessen (2004) by Gudrun Pausewang and focuses on the problem of presenting history, recognizing and admitting guilt in the context of contemporary literature for children and teenagers. The author examines in what way and for what purpose the topic of national socialism and holocaust is introduced into the literature. She demonstrates that literature for children and teenagers can also be a genre that makes it possible to deal with national socialism and can contribute to the political education of children and youngsters. The stories subjected to analysis address traditional patterns of guilt suppression and show how children and teenagers approach the propagation of Nazi ideology. Pausewang points with her stories to the individual and collective importance of settling accounts with the past in books for children.

    Opis:
    Die Nutzung des Internets und seiner Dienste, u.a. der E-Mail, sozialer Medien, Kommunikationsplattformen und Online-Spiele, wurde zur expliziten Erscheinung der heutigen Welt. Die neuen Medien bieten nämlich den jungen Benutzern eine der attraktivsten Formen der Freizeitgestaltung, weswegen sie immer mehr als Thema und Motiv in der gegenwärtigen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur erscheinen. Diesem Phänomen ist der vorliegende Beitrag gewidmet, dessen Ziel es ist, an exemplarisch ausgewählten Texten den Einfluss des Internets auf die Problematik und Form, Wirklichkeitsdarstellung und Figurenzeichnung in der heutigen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur zu untersuchen. Besonders wichtig erscheint die Frage, wie sich das Wechselspiel zwischen realer und virtueller Realität auf die literarische Fiktion und Konstruktion der Werke auswirkt.
    Using the services provided by the Internet such as e-mail, social media, instant messengers or online games became unavoidable and irreversible phenomenon of the modern world. These media are one of the most attractive types of entertainment and spending free time. This is the main reason why media appears more often as the theme in the modern children’s and adolescent literature. Main goal of this paper is to point out how the Internet impacts on issues, plot line and creation of the represented world and characters in the children’s and adolescent literature. The very important question is – how the interpenetrate of the real and virtual world influences on literary fiction and composition.
    Korzystanie z Internetu i jego usług, takich jak np. poczta elektroniczna, media społecznościowe, komunikatory i gry online, stało się nieuniknionym i nieodwracalnym zjawiskiem współczesnego świata. Media te stanowią bowiem jedną z najatrakcyjniejszych form rozrywki oraz spędzania wolnego czasu przez ich młodych użytkowników, dlatego pojawiają sie coraz częściej jako temat i motyw we współczesnej literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży. Temu fenomenowi poświęcony jest niniejszy artykuł, którego celem jest wykazanie na podstawie wybranych utworów wpływu Internetu na problematykę, fabułę oraz na kreację świata przedstawionego i bohaterów w literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży. Istotne wydaje się pytanie, w jaki sposób przenikanie się świata realnego i wirtualnego wpływa na fikcję literacką i konstrukcję utworów.

    Opis:
    One of the essential catechetical and pastoral problems is the question of preparation for first confession and Holy Communion. Interest in this issue is an expression of concern by catechists and priests regarding the proper formation of children before receiving these sacraments. This theme has returned recently in connection with the implementation of the guidelines of the Core Curriculum of the Catechesis approved on 8 March 2010. The document gives a few indications in preparing children for the sacraments of Christian initiation: Penance and Reconciliation as well as Holy Eucharist. The instructions concern, among other things: the time of accession to these sacraments, forms of the pastoral-liturgical meetings for children and their parents in the period of preparation, their frequency and subject matter, and finally, the religious knowledge required of children at this stage of education. The approximation of these issues seems to be crucial as they may in fact affect the manner of work of individuals responsible for the education and religious formation of children preparing for their first confession and First Holy Communion.
    Jednym z istotnych problemów katechetycznych i duszpasterskich jest kwestia przygotowania do pierwszej spowiedzi i Komunii św. Interesowanie się tym zagadnieniem jest wyrazem troski katechetów i duszpasterzy o właściwą formację dzieci poprzedzającą przyjęcie tych sakramentów. Temat ten powrócił także w ostatnim czasie w związku z wdrażaniem założeń nowej Podstawy programowej katechezy zatwierdzonej 8 marca 2010 r. Dokument podaje kilka wskazań w zakresie przygotowania dzieci do sakramentów inicjacji chrześcijańskiej: pokuty i pojednania oraz Eucharystii. Dotyczą one między innymi: czasu przystąpienia do tych sakramentów, form spotkań pastoralno-liturgicznych dla dzieci i rodziców w okresie przygotowania, ich częstotliwości, tematyki czy wreszcie wiedzy religijnej wymaganej od dzieci na tym etapie edukacyjnym. Przybliżenie tych zagadnień wydaje się istotne, mogą bowiem rzutować na sposób pracy osób odpowiedzialnych za edukację i formację religijną dzieci w okresie ich przygotowania do pierwszej spowiedzi i Komunii św.

    Zum Thema des Beitrages werden Sprache-Bild-Texte, die auf bebilderten Kinderbucheinbänden auftauchen, bei denen der literarische Titel in seine visuelle Umgebung so eingebettet wird, dass er zu ihrem integralen Teil wird. Die Beziehungen, in denen der literarische Titel und seine visuelle Umgebung zueinander stehen, scheinen der Grund dafür zu sein, bebilderte Kinderbucheinbände als komplexe Sehflächen zu betrachten. Mit zahlreichen Abbildungen wird im Beitrag exemplifiziert, wie sich der literarische Titel und seine graphische Umgebung gegenseitig ergänzen, indem sie in Partnerschaft und Symbiose zueinander stehen. Der Beitrag gibt auch eine Antwort auf die Frage, wie Kinderbucheinbände als Sehflächen gestaltet werden sollten, um die Aufmerksamkeit der Kinder zu lenken, ihr Interesse am Buch zu erwecken und ihre sprachlichen Kompetenzen zu fördern.
    Tematem artykułu są teksty werbalnoikoniczne, analizowane na przykładzie ilustrowanych okładek bajek dla dzieci, gdzie tytuł literacki wpisany jest w swoje wizualne otoczenie, stanowiąc jego integralną część. Relacje, w jakich pozostają wobec siebie tytuł bajki i jego wizualne otoczenie, są podstawą do tego, by okładki bajek dla dzieci traktować jako kompleksowe powierzchnie wizualne. W artykule prezentowane są liczne przykłady tego, jak tytuł bajki i środowisko graficzne wzajemnie się uzupełniają, pozostając w relacji partnerstwa i symbiozy. Artykuł stanowi także próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób kształtować takie powierzchnie wizualne na okładkach bajek, by dzięki nim skupić uwagę dziecka i zainteresować je lekturą bajki oraz równocześnie wspierać jego kompetencję językową.
    The subject of the paper concerns verbaliconic texts, analyzed on the example of the illustrated covers of fairy tales for children where the literary title is inscribed in its visual surroundings, simultaneously constituting its integral part. The relations in which the title of the fairy tale and its visual surroundings remain with the reference to one another, are a basis for treating covers of fairy tales for children as complex visual surfaces. The paper presents numerous examples of how the title of a given fairy tale and the graphic environment mutually complement each other, remaining in the relation of partnership and symbiosis. The article also constitutes an attempt at answering the question in what way to shape such visual surfaces on covers of fairy tales so as to, owing to them, focus a child’s attention and make them interested in reading a particular fairy tale as well as simultaneously support their linguistic competence.

    Literature for young readers in Eduard Trewendt’s publishing house in Breslau (1845–1903). Research-historic essay The article presents children and youth literature review which was published in the second half of 19th century in German publishing house of Eduard Trewendt in Breslau, especially in Trewendt‘s Jugendbibliothek series. The series consisted of 132 titles, was a great commercial success and secured for the publishing house monopoly position in Silesia. The books for children and youth offered to the readers entertainment, knowledge, shape personalities and moral values system. The authors included famous German writers e. g.: Franz Hoffmann, Karl Müller and Hedwig Prohl who wrote stories for girls. Trewendt also published German translations of well-read foreign authors e. g. Charles Dickens series. The publishing house also offered wide range of course books and other products for school children to facilitate learning process. Some of them reached all German speakers and were renewed many times.
