This paper is part of the study, for the creation of maintenance engineering culture and a system capable to control the input and output of vehicles operation and maintenance in developing countries. The focus of this paper will be the use of digital technologies to change business models, basing on the analyses of the data collected to develop innovation in transport system by creation of a system that works according to the local needs. This work has, as case of study, the transport system in Cape Verde (Praia city); a bus company, operating in the city for more than 40 years, will provide the data for analyses. The study of the exploitation efficiency of the transport system will focus in the analyses of the data collected, after the definition of the data for collection, is defined how the data will be analysed and used in order to create the desired solution. In this paper is also defined the platform used for data collection. The definition and selection of the vehicle systems/components for data collection has been supported by engineers and mechanics with long experience and knowledge of the local situation as well as vehicles operation and maintenance. The information that, if collected and analysed correctly, can help transform the vehicle operation and maintenance, data collection can empower us to direct resources toward the modules that are in most pressing need of technical refinement. With this knowledge base, we will be able to use predictive analysis to identify what, how and where to improve the services and manage the vehicle maintenance and operation.

The paper proposes an extension of the currently applied vehicle inspection, based on the OBD II system, and periodical inspection, by vehicle dynamic load testing. The method involves generating faults based on an analytic model of traffic. The method takes into account the static and dynamic properties of a vehicle within the whole range of its operation, taking into account the variable traffic intensity, and enables early detection of defects which accumulate at variable random loads. The highest precision of computation is ensured by traffic models with elastic and damping constraints, with variable rigidity and damping.
W pracy zaproponowano rozszerzone podejście do obecnie stosowanej kontroli stanu pojazdów, opartej na OBD II i kontroli okresowej, o pomiary obciążeń dynamicznych pojazdu. Zaproponowano metodę generacji niezdatności pojazdu na podstawie modelu analitycznego ruchu drogowego. Metoda ta uwzględnia własności statyczne i dynamiczne pojazdu w całym zakresie jego pracy z uwzględnieniem zmiennej intensywności ruchu i pozwala na wczesne wykrycie rozwoju uszkodzeń kumulujących się przy zmiennych obciążeniach losowych. Największą dokładność obliczeniową mogą zapewnić modele ruchu z więzami sprężystymi i tłumiącymi o zmiennej sztywności i tłumieniu.

Opis:
A contemporary road vehicle (RV) is a rather complex system, consisting of a large number of subsystems, assemblies, units, and elements (parts). While operating, an RV interacts with the environment, and its elements interact with each other. Consequently, the properties (parameters) of these elements change in the process - hardness, roughness, size, relative position, gapping, etc. A partial solution to the presented problems can be the search for a technique for assessing the RV technical condition by a generalised criterion, which is quite sensitive to changes in the technical state. One of these criteria may be fuel consumption in litres per 100 kilometres. This paper investigates the possibilities of using the fuel consumption indicator as a criterion for assessing the technical condition of the vehicle and the vehicle maintenance and repair technologies have been generalised to obtain a given technical solution. Thus, the possibility of using the fuel consumption indicator as a criterion for assessing the technical condition of the vehicles was explored using the Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI operating in urban conditions using a driving cycle. A clear correlation between the fuel consumption and the service lifetime of the vehicle has been established; therefore, it depends on the frequency and quality of the maintenance and repair (MR). The vehicle MR technology has been generalised to obtain a specified technical solution. The process of creating an RV MR Technology model is implemented based on an iterative approach (repetition) with the possibility to specify their features.

Opis:
The impact of the economic crisis, i.e. the decrease in purchasing power in the Republic of Croatia, has been reflected negatively on the sales of new road vehicles and the maintenance plan of used road vehicles. A comparison of the results of technical inspections on vehicle roadworthiness has indicated a slight increase in unroadworthy vehicles, with a tendency for this to increase. Unroadworthiness and the average age of vehicles amounting to 12.18 years prompt for thinking about road safety in the Republic of Croatia. This paper aims to establish the extent of the increase in vehicle unroadworthiness and the importance of its reduction in order to increase road safety. The Republic of Croatia has adopted the National Road Safety Program for 2011-2020, accepting thereby a task that will be difficult to accomplish without organising training on the importance of vehicle roadworthiness.
Die Folgen der Wirtschaftskrise bzw. die verminderte Kaufkraft in der Republik Kroatien haben den Verkauf von neuen und den Instandhaltungsplan von gebrauchten Straßenfahrzeugen negativ beeinflusst. Durch den Vergleich der mit der Verkehrstauglichkeit von Straßenfahrzeugen verbundenen Ergebnisse technischer Kontrollen ließ sich ein leichter Anstieg von verkehrsuntauglichen Fahrzeugen, mit einer Tendenz zur Erhöhung, feststellen. Die technische Untauglichkeit sowie das Durchschnittsalter von Straßenkraftfahrzeugen von 12,18 Jahren lassen Bedenken über die Sicherheit des Straßenverkehrs in der Republik Kroatien aufkommen. Das Ziel dieser Untersuchung war es festzustellen, wie stark die Verkehrsuntauglichkeit von Straßenfahrzeugen angestiegen ist sowie auf die Wichtigkeit ihrer Minderung hinzuweisen, mit dem Zweck, die Sicherheit des Straßenverkehrs zu erhöhen. Die Republik Kroatien hat das Nationalprogramm der Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr 2011-2020 verabschiedet und sich dadurch vor eine schwierige Aufgabe gestellt, die sie ohne Schulungsveranstaltungen, welche die Wichtigkeit der Verkehrstauglichkeit von Fahrzeugen zum Thema haben, wohl kaum erfüllen kann.

The article presents the research on the impact of specific factors on the state of the pressure value in passenger car wheels in service. Data on how the vehicle was used was obtained based on a survey. The survey contained data on checking the condition of the vehicle tires and also measured the tire pressure. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the impact of specific factors on the state of the pressure value in passenger car wheels. The correlation analysis of the correctness of pressure in car tires and selected factors was carried out using the Kendall tau test. In addition, odds ratio (OR) analysis and the Hosmer and Lemeshow test were used to analyze the results. The work draws attention to the impact of improper tire pressure on tire durability and road safety as well as the functioning of other active safety systems. In addition, attention was drawn to drivers' awareness of the need to control the pressure in the wheels of the vehicle. Based on the analysis it was found that the age of the vehicle used and the driver's knowledge have the greatest impact on the correct tire pressure. Studies have shown that in over 60% of the vehicles analyzed, the tire pressure was normal.

One of the most important tasks of military logistics is to ensure proper use and technical maintenance of armaments and military equipment. Providing maintenance support services on the modern battlefield, with its saturation with complex technical solutions, poses a significant challenge for the logistics system of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. It is the duty of military logistics to adjust the potential of logistical sub-units as well as the organizational scheme and procedures of logistical support in accordance with changes occurring in the field. In times of peace, maintenance support services are focused on preventing equipment malfunctions. If a given piece of equipment becomes non-operational, their task consists in restoring it to full working order, taking into account all economic considerations. The vehicles should feature good traction characteristics in varied terrain and be adapted to operation in both cold and hot environments. The training of repair sub-unit staff remains an important element affecting the standard of maintenance support.

The operation of high-speed tracked vehicles takes place in difficult terrain conditions. Hence, to obtain a high operational relia-bility, the design or modernisation process must be precise and should consider even the slightest details. The article presents issues re-lated to the problem of formulating vehicle models using partial models of flexible elements used in tracked mechanisms. Changes occur-ring in the shape and properties of elements such as track pads and roadwheel bandages as a consequence of operating conditions are presented. These changes are reflected in the presented elastic–damping characteristics of components of the crawler mechanism. Nu-merical studies have shown that deterioration of chassis suspension components after a significant mileage may increase dynamic loads (forces) acting on the running gear. Increased forces in the running gear naturally result in increased stresses in the road surface on which the vehicle is travelling, which can pose a danger (or excessive wear and tear) to road infrastructure components such as culverts, bridges and viaducts. In the literature, model tests of objects are carried out on models that represent new vehicles, and the characteristics of the adopted elements correspond to elements not affected by the process and operating conditions. Its influence should not be ignored in the design, testing and running of a special vehicle. The tracked mechanism, as running gear, is designed for special high-speed vehicles for off-road and off-road driving. Its design ensures high off-road traversability. The dynamic loads originating from off-road driving are super-imposed on those generated by the engine, drive train and interaction of the tracks with the roadwheels, sprocket, idler and supporting tracks return rollers.

This paper is a case study of the development of a localization and positioning subsystem of an Automated Guided Vehicle-based transportation system. The described system uses primarily RFID markers for localization. In some deployments, those markers occasionally fail, mostly due to being crushed by cargo platforms operated by a human or due to internal defects. Those failures are not common enough to warrant switching from markerbased localization to a more sophisticated technique, but they require additional effort from maintenance staff. In this case study, we present our solution to this problem – a self-tuning algorithm that is able to detect marker failures and, in most cases, keep the system operational. The paper briefly discusses business circumstances under which such a solution is reasonable and then describes in detail the entire technical process, including data acquisition, verification, algorithm development and finally, the result of deploying the system in production.
Ten artykuł opisuje studium przypadku rozwoju podsystemu lokalizacji i pozycjonowania w systemie opartym na wózkach samojezdnych. Opisywany system używa markerów RFID w celu lokalizacji wózków. Markery te w niektórych wdrożeniach okazjonalnie ulegają uszkodzeniom – najczęściej mechanicznym, ze względu zgniecenia powstałe w wyniku przejechania przez platformę z ładunkiem kierowaną przez człowieka lub też wewnętrzne defekty. Uszkodzenia te występują na tyle rzadko, że nie uzasadniają zmiany sposobu lokalizacji na bardziej zaawansowany, jednakże wymagają dodatkowego wysiłku od kadry zajmującej się utrzymaniem ruchu. W tym studium przypadku opisane zostało rozwiązanie przyjęte w firmie Octant – samostrojący się algorytm wykrywający uszkodzenia markerów, w przypadku typowych uszkodzeń umożliwiający kontynuację pracy systemu. Publikacja ogólnie opisuje sytuację biznesową w której zastosowanie takiego rozwiązania jest racjonalne, a następnie opisuje szczegóły techniczne podsystemów odpowiedzialnych za ruch i pozycjonowanie pojazdu – zarówno fizycznych, jak i w zakresie oprogramowania – oraz uzasadnienia dla podjętych decyzji technicznych.

In the modern world, scientific and practical ergodesign activity on the development and use of drones, the concept of "human factor" is becoming more and more important. It is one of the main studies in improving the safety, efficiency and comfort of the "man - unmanned aerial vehicle" system operation. The most promising research is aimed at the application and development of new approaches to the evaluation of algorithms for unmanned aircraft maintenanceand the organization of their operators` activities. The system of unmanned aerial vehicles ergodesign quality indicators developed and presented in a tabular form reflects practically all design and ergonomic properties of modern unmanned aerial systems. It is based on the existing normative documentation in Ukraine developed by the authors, harmonized with international and European standards. It allows the analysis and evaluation of unmanned aerial vehicles in order to take into account consumer interests at the beginning of their design reducing the assimilation time of products and preventing irrational production costs. The results of such an analysis underlie the development of technical documentation, standards, and specifications. They should be taken into account when putting products into production.
