The worldwide air freight transport is seen mostly from the angle of long-distance passenger flights. Given that, one often tends to forget the role of this transport branch in the case of commodity transport. Air freight transport is a booming branch with great development potential. This, however, is related to considerable experience and knowledge, on the part of both the carrier and the owner of goods, with regards to technical capacities of a given aircraft, maintenance costs, and rule awareness. The objective of the study is to analyse the global market of air freight transport. In view of the vast scope of the subject, the issues were presented, to a large extent, on the basis of existing airports.

The theoretical consideration presented in the paper is inspired by market gravity models, as an interesting attitude towards operations research on a market. The transportation market issues are emphasized. The mathematical model of relations, taking place between transportation companies and their customers on the market, which is applied in the course of the research is based on continuous functions characteristics. This attitude enables the use of the field theory notions. The resultant vector-type utility function facilitates obtaining of competitive advantage areas for all transportation companies located on the considered transportation market.
Prezentowane dociekania teoretyczne inspirowane są teorią grawitacji rynkowej, jako interesującym elementem badań rynkowych. Rozważaniom poddano rynek usług transportowych. Zastosowany został model relacji zachodzących pomiędzy przedsiębiorstwami transportowymi i ich klientami na rynku usług transportowych, wykorzystujący do opisu cech przedsiębiorstw i klientów funkcje ciągłe o charakterze lokalnym. Umożliwiło to aplikację wybranych elementów matematycznej teorii pola. Wykorzystana wektorowa funkcja użyteczności posłużyła do wyznaczania obszarów przewagi konkurencyjnej poszczególnych przedsiębiorstw transportowych na rynku usług transportowych, przy zastosowaniu zaproponowanego algorytmu optymalizacyjnego.

The main subject of this research was to identify recent basic trends in the development of inland waterway transport in the EU as well as to evaluate this from both EU transport policy objectives and logistics markets’ requirements. For this purpose, classical statistical and economic analysis methods as well as the documentation research method were used. The basic threats and barriers to the development of inland waterway transport are indicated, as well as various actions necessary to limit or eliminate them. An attempt was also made to assess the opportunities and prospects for the development of this transport mode in the next decade in the context of the development of the broader EU transport market. The main objective of this research was to perform a market assessment of the development prospects of this mode of transport in the era of dynamic developing logistic customer service standards, as well as progressive globalization and the 4th industrial revolution (digitalization). In this respect, political versus market-oriented scenarios of the development of EU inland shipping were analyzed and evaluated. The conclusions relate to the ongoing and upcoming modal shift on the EU transport market as well as regulatory measures undertaken by the EU.

The main research issue refers to the identification and analysis of the key features and trends revealed on the global maritime container transport market in the years 2020-2022, as well as its general assessment in terms of the effects that such a highly concentrated market's supply side can cause for shippers and container shipping operators. The research is aimed at determining the main premises and factors stimulating the consolidation processes of the container shipping operators and ongoing market vertical and horizontal integration, as well as assessing the risks and effects resulting from maintaining the current system of regulation of this oligopolistic market. While conducting this research, the following methods were applied: factor analysis (FA), market analysis (MA) based on statistical data concerning the supply side, as well as desk research (DR), i.e. in-depth analysis of many reports, opinions, bulletins and data issued by international maritime organisations as well as research institutes. The obtained research results indicate that:1. the very advanced consolidation processes among the leading container shipping operators and, consequently, further integration of the container market, radically changes the balance of power in favour of shipping operators and creates the potential to generate serious disruptions in this market and other links in the global supply chains, 2/ regulatory antitrust authorities need to take appropriate regulatory action to limit their market power via legal measures regarding competition.

Currently, the branch of air transport is one of the most dynamically developing branches of transport. Modern air transport systems provide relatively high quality of services in terms of satisfaction, preferences, and tastes of potential recipients, passengers, and freight operators. Air transport systems use highly advanced technologies, equipment, infrastructure, and appropriate rules and procedures in order to ensure the desired quality of services. The article presents an analysis of the volume of passenger and cargo transport in air transport on the example of the Warszawa Okęcie International Airport (Poland). The analysis covered the years from 2011 to 2021. In addition, the market of air services, and air connections with Warszawa Okęcie International Airport were characterized.

The article presents the results of the introduction of the provisions suggested by the European Union’s legislative authorities with regard to transport market regulation, referred to as the Mobility Package. The business of enterprises is based on planning, both in the short and long term, business decisions are made in advance, and internal and external factors taken into consideration. To emphasize the importance of the issues discussed, it is worth noting that the regulations under study constituted the first such in-depth change of the market since Poland joined the European Union. An earlier analysis of the solutions suggested allows enterprises to get ready for the upcoming changes and to take appropriate decisions to minimize their effects, if any. Consequently, the purpose of this paper was to attempt to assess the impact of the Mobility Package on the Polish road transport industry. To study this goal it was necessary to gather and analyse extensive research material originating from official statistical data, industry reports and scientific publications of domestic and foreign authors. The methodology of the research included analysis of the scientific literature, European Commission documents and statistical data analysis.
W artykule przedstawiono potencjalne skutki wprowadzenia przepisów proponowanych przez organy ustawodawcze Unii Europejskiej w zakresie regulacji rynku transportowego określane jako Pakiet Mobilności. Działalność przedsiębiorstw powinna się opierać na planowaniu zarówno w krótkim, jak i w długim okresie. Decyzje gospodarcze przedsiębiorstwa muszą być podejmowane z odpowiednim wyprzedzeniem oraz z uwzględnieniem czynników wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych. Aby podkreślić wagę omawianej problematyki, warto zauważyć, że omawiane zmiany są pierwszą tak dogłębną zmianą na rynku od momentu akcesji Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Wcześniejsza analiza proponowanych rozwiązań pozwala przedsiębiorstwom przygotować się do nadchodzących zmian oraz podjąć stosowne decyzje, które umożliwią zminimalizowanie potencjalnych skutków. Celem niniejszego artykułu była próba oceny wpływu Pakietu Mobilności na polski sektor transportu drogowego. Zgromadzono i przeanalizowano bogaty materiał badawczy pochodzący z oficjalnych danych statystycznych, raportów branżowych oraz publikacji naukowych autorów krajowych i zagranicznych. Metodologia badań obejmuje analizę literatury naukowej, dokumentów Komisji Europejskiej oraz analizę danych statystycznych.

The competitive advantage of the passenger air transport market is a significant part of airline operations. An important element, a condition that may determine the achievement of competitive advantage, is the issue of safety, which also applies to the operation of aircraft. An example of creating an effective competitive advantage may be the operation of a new aircraft by air carriers. This article presents the process of creating a competitive advantage on the example of the Airbus A350 XWB and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft considering the safety aspect, which in the case of new means of transport in civil aviation may primarily concern the seeming childhood diseases occurring in the initial use of new aircraft. This article, in the form of comparative analysis, indicates the key features that determine the attractiveness of the new aircraft as a product on the passenger air transport market. Secondary data on the characteristics of the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft were used and compared with the data of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to illustrate the properties that may indicate the manufacturer's superiority. Furthermore, this article proposes a scheme of creating competitive advantage in passenger air transport, which can be a model for creating a competitive advantage in civil aviation. The close relationship between the economic and technological aspects in creating competitive advantage was buttressed as well. This article also analysed secondary data related to the numer of ordered and used aircraft and aviation events registered on the website: https://aviation-safety.net [8], which could have an impact on the level of safety of flight operations. Brought to the fore were situations in which the seeming childhood diseases in aircraft operated by the American manufacturer, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, such as defects in engines, power elements and risks associated with the use of composite materials, which were first used on such a large scale in the construction of wide-body aircraft.

. The development of international cargo transportation has been relevant since the emergence of the international division of labor. Billions of tons of goods of various names, values and volumes are transported across the borders of the Russian Federation every year. This paper examines the Eurasian Economic Union international transportation system, its transport system integration, and the formation of a common transport space. The authors analyzed the international transport market state and conditions and the level of containerization. The transport system is considered the country's economy "circulatory system", which makes it a key link in the implementation of economic reforms in the country. The transport industry has social significance, which also determines the specifics of the phased market transformations. The development of international multimodal container transportation is becoming a new trend in the development of the transport service market.

The article presents the issue of the transport of goods in relation to sea transport. Sea transport has been known to mankind for a long time. Currently, maritime transport is not limited only to the transport of goods and/or passengers along sea routes, which are carried out between seaports using appropriately adapted means of transport. It is a branch of transport, which consists of a very good knowledge of navigation, highly specialized staff, and a wide range of containers for transporting various types of cargo, often requiring specialized conditions. In addition, sea transport is perfectly combined with intermodal transport, so that in the end, the transport process is the most beneficial for all participants, i.e., the customers, sellers, distributors, and manufacturers. The main purpose of the article was to present the volume of goods transported in this branch of transport. The article, after introducing the issue, presents the classification of sea vessels, refers to the market of maritime transport services and its conditions for further development, and analyzes the overall volume of goods transported in the seaports of Gdańsk and Gdynia against the background of other Polish seaports in the years 2011-2021.

Liberalization drives interbranch competition, whereas cost and political pressure stimulates development of various forms of cooperation. This article focuses on the liberalization process of the railway freight transport market in Poland between 1997 and 2009. It shows that the increase in traffic and the fall in prices that occurred in this period took place not because of ‘effective regulation’ but despite its absence. This can indicate that introducing competition in railway freight transport could be profitable where there is significant demand for bulk and containers freight services and the railway infrastructure is well-developed.
L’article se concentre sur le processus de libéralisation du marche de transport ferroviaire de fret en Pologne dans les années 1997-2009. Il montre que l’augmentation du trafic et la baisse des prix dans cette période, n’ont pas eu lieu à cause de la “régulation efficace”, mais malgré son absence. Cela peut indiquer que l’introduction de la concurrence dans le transport ferroviaire de fret pourra être profitable s’il y a de la demande pour les services du trafic en vrac et par conteneur et si l’infrastructure ferroviaire est bien-developpée.

Natural gas, being the cleanest burning fossil fuel, will play a key role in the future. Liquefying natural gas lets moving it to regions where pipeline transport is not possible, allowing end-use markets access to natural gas. LNG is more energy dense than gaseous natural gas, so there using fields are still increasing in end-use applications, e.g. different types of transportation (heavy duty vehicles, marine or rail applications). Global LNG demand is expected to grow, mostly because of new economic markets from Asia and Middle East.
