Opis:
The aim of this paper is to develop a quantile method of cost analysis allowing identification of the most cost-generating malfunctions occurring in a fleet of public transport vehicles. The exemplification of this method has been performed for a fleet of a specified type of trams. The idea behind the quantile method of public transport vehicle operating cost analysis is the reversing of the accumulated function of costs, for the determination of which a cost database from a given operating time of a public transport vehicle fleet has been used. The paper presents data on the malfunctions from the first five years of operation of trams in a large transport company. The assumed time of five years results from the warranty period provided by the manufacturer. The recorded number of indexes of replaced parts was 547. The group contained inoperative parts that were renewed several times.

Opis:
Multi-modal transport means the transport of the objects through at least two different carriers of any combination of simple tasks of transport carriers (by truck, by train, by ship or by plane). A Semi-Markov (SM) model of multi-modal transport operation is presented in the article. The SM process is defined by the renewal kernel of that one. In our model, time to failure of the operation is represented by a random variable that denotes the first passage time from the given state to the subset of states. The duration of one operation cycle is a random variable representing the return time to the initial state. The appropriate theorems of the Semi-Markov processes theory allow us to calculate characteristics and parameters of the transport operation model. The article presents the example of the transport operation final part of container with cargo from Warsaw to Stockholm, where from Warsaw to Gdynia, the container is transported by lorry, from Gdynia to Karlscorona by ferry and from Karlscorona to Stockholm by truck.

The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically affected the transport sector, because of the restrictions introduced to limit the spread of the threat. They concerned primarily passenger traffic, but trade in goods also faced completely new challenges, related to increased consumption and the dynamic development of e-commerce on the one hand and restrictions related to the pandemic and sealing borders on the other. One of the most susceptible to fluctuations in international trade is the maritime economy, which has been analysed in this article. It was checked how the global threat affected sea traffic in terms of gross weight of goods handled in main ports. The aim of the study was to characterize the impact of the pandemic on sea transport depending on the type of ship and to evaluate the current state of sea transport in the context of the level shaped by forecasts based on observations from before the coronavirus pandemic. The authors' assumption was to check whether the rail transport market has already reached the level it could reach in the absence of the virus threat. The use of a polynomial function was proposed for the study. Time series containing observations up to the outbreak of the pandemic and forecasts based on them, as well as time series containing additional observations from the pandemic period were analysed. The study results obtained allowed to conclude how the global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic affected the cargo traffic in the sea transport, expressed by the mass of goods transshipped in major ports, depending on the individual types of ships.

The paper regards a specific class of optimization criteria that possess features of probability. Therefore,constructing objective functionof optimization problem,the importance is attached to probability indices that show the probability of some criterial event or events to occur. Factor analysis has been taken for the main method of constructing objective function. Algorithm for constructing objective function of optimization is donefor criterion of minimization risk level in multimodaltransportations that demanded demonstration data. The application of factor analysis in classical problem solution was shown to givethe problem a more distinct analytical interpretation in solving it.
Artykuł dotyczy szczególnej klasy kryteriów optymalizacyjnych, które posiadają cechy prawdopodobieństwa. W związku z tym, przy konstruowaniu funkcji celu problemu optymalizacyjnego pierwszorzędne znaczenie mają wskaźniki prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia określonego zdarzenia lub zbioru zdarzeń. Jako główną metodę konstruowania takiej funkcji celu wybrano analizę czynnikową. Algorytm konstrukcji funkcji celu optymalizacji wykonano dla kryterium minimalizacji poziomu ryzyka w przewozach multimodalnych –w tym celu wykorzystano dane demonstracyjne. Wykazano, że zastosowanie analizy czynnikowej w klasycznym sformułowaniu problemu badawczego pozwala nadać mu bardziej wyrazistą interpretację analityczną w jego rozwiązywaniu.

In recent years, type-II superlattice-based devices have completed the offer of the electronic industry in many areas of applications. Photodetection is one of them, especially in the midinfrared wavelength range. It is due to the unique feature of a superlattice material, which is a tuneable bandgap. It is also believed that the dark current of superlattice-based photodetectors is strongly suppressed due to the suppression of the band-to-band tunnelling current in a superlattice material. This argument relies, however, on a semi-classical approach that treats superlattice as a bulk material with effective parameters extracted from the k·p analysis. In the paper, a superlattice device is analysed on a quantum level: the nonequilibrium Green’s function method is applied to the two-band Hamiltonian of the InAs/GaSb superlattice p-i-n diode. The analysis concentrates on the band-to-band tunnelling with the aim to validate the correctness of a semi-classical description of the phenomenon. The results of calculations reveal that in a superlattice diode, the inter-band tunnelling occurs only for certain values of energy and in-plane momentum, for which electronic and hole sub-bands cross. The transitions occurring for vanishing in-plane momentum produce resonances in the current-voltage characteristics - the feature which was reported in a few experimental observations. This scenario is quite different from that occurring in bulk materials, where there is a range of energy-momentum pairs for which the band-to-band tunnelling takes place, and so current-voltage characteristics are free from any resonances. However, simulations show that, while not justified for a detailed analysis, the semi-classical description can be applied to superlattice-based devices for an ‘order of magnitude’ estimation of the band-to-band tunnelling current.

These refinements are to take into account the functions of population allocation in modern cities. In this paper the authors refer to the method of commercial provision of road infrastructure called BOT (build-operate-transfer) under Public-private partnerships (PPPs) scheme. First we present the investment criteria for transportation PPP projects as well as application of price theory. Then we recognize that the different participants in PPP projects have distinct goals and requirements that must be met in order for them to be able to participate in an effective partnership. The main challenge for the toll road pricing is to determine the economically viable toll rate that takes into consideration the diverse and sometimes conflicting interests of different stakeholders involved in the project. The main objective is to review the theory of economic principles for optimal toll roads pricing and to review the existing approaches to transportation projects appraisal. Then the authors show how to formally derive the condition for toll rate that meets 2 criteria: 1) is socially optimal and 2) covers operator’s costs. For this purpose we use II type Tőrnquist function, a member of an Engel family of functions. This function models the relationship between income and consumption of inferior and normal goods. Tőrnquist function is a mathematical representation of the well-known Engel curves. These curves record the relationship between the quantity of goods purchased and total income. They are not necessarily straight lines. The demand for some “luxury” goods may increase proportionally more rapidly than income, whereas the demand for “necessities” may grow proportionally less rapidly than income. The precise shape will depend on the individual’s preferences for goods as reflected in the indifference curve map. We deem the highway trip to be a “second necessity good”. There is number of economists who apply the Tőrnquist function for microeconomic analysis. The extremely simple form of the Tőrnquist function allows to get the solution in a closed form.

Shrinking gate length in conventional MOSFETs leads to increasing short channel effects like source-to-drain (SD) tunneling. Compact modeling designers are challenged to model these quantum mechanical effects. The complexity lies in the set-up between time efficiency, physical model relation and analytical equations. Multi-scale simulation bridges the gap between compact models, its fast and efficient calculation of the device terminal voltages, and numerical device models which consider the effects of nanoscale devices. These numerical models iterate between Poisson- and Schroedinger equation which significantly slows down the simulation performance. The physicsbased consideration of quantum effects like the SD tunneling makes the non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) to a stateof-the-art method for the simulation of devices in the sub 10 nm region. This work introduces a semi-analytical NEGF model for ultra-short DG MOSFETs. Applying the closed-form potential solution of a classical compact model, the model turns the NEGF from an iterative numerical solution into a straightforward calculation. The applied mathematical approximations speed up the calculation time of the 1D NEGF. The model results for the ballistic channel current in DG-MOSFETs are compared with numerical NanoMOS TCAD [1] simulation data. Shown is the accurate potential calculation as well as the good agreement of the current characteristic for temperatures down to 75 K for channel lengths from 6 nm to 20 nm and channel thickness from 1.5 nm to 3 nm.
