The study discusses the issue of determining the conditions for testing the mileage of a vehicle. Lifetime tests are the crucial element of qualification tests. This type of research verifies the resistance of vehicles and elements of their on-board equipment to vibrations and shocks resulting from the interaction of uneven surface during the movement. Certain test conditions can be straightforwardly determined and verified e.g. weather conditions or a type of the road/surface. The problem appears when the tests are to be conducted in field conditions (off-road). At the set driving speed, the level and frequency structure of dynamic loads of elements of a vehicle drive system depend mainly on a surface profile and its viscoelastic conditions. Either the profile or the characteristics of ground foundations change over the time depending on various factors. The paper attempts to assess the interaction of a ground surface of selected field roads on a vehicle. The result of direct measurement of the vertical acceleration captured on a drive axle and on a vehicle’s frame above the axle was addressed. The measurement results were analyzed within the context of possible planning of vehicle test requirements with the application of the method of testing mileage under the field conditions.

In the era of the rapid development of motorization one of the most important characteristics of transport vehicles is the safety and comfort of their drivers and passengers. In particular, people driving vehicles professionally are exposed to vibrations, which may adversely affect their bodies, causing discomfort, dysfunctions, and even lesions of disease. The vibration level triggered by the system a road – a vehicle depends on the type and profile of the road surface as well as the driving speed. Vibration levels are assessed by means of characteristics and comfort comparative indexes determined by experimental methods. Attempts at assessing the comfort while driving along paved roads may be found in many publications; however, there is a lack of information on testing vehicles moving in off-road conditions, which is substantial from the point of view of military vehicle crews’ comfort. The driving comfort of crews of wheeled vehicles is subjected to examinations at the Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology.

Opis:
The safety of machinery is a very important aspect for its correct functioning in the conditions of modern production or assembly. According to the standards, manufacturers of special-purpose machines and devices are obliged to provide their equipment with a certificate of conformity (CE). This article describes the concerns of insufficient safety of a device. Insufficient coverage of part of the line meant that the certification did not take place, and the safety requirements were not met. The TRIZ method was used to resolve this technical discrepancy, providing designers with "instructions" on how to proceed, solve complex problems at the level of discrepancies and create solutions. By agreement of the designers, a solution that was not economically and implementation-intensive was created. All doors and windows within the fencing have been reinforced, thus achieving a greater degree of security. The resulting solution was subjected to simulations in the Ansys Workbench program, and the FEM analysis led to certain conclusions. The results were then moved to the structural engineer to assess the solution, who then approved the solution and successful certification of part of the device, respectively, in the assembly line.

Issues of driving stability of special-purpose vehicles result from engineering compromise between need of fulfilment of operational requirements and traction correctness of a vehicle. Especially, it concerns a motion in dynamic conditions with presence of high transverse accelerations. The paper comprises description and analysis of motion stability test results of a special-purpose two-axis vehicle with kerb mass of above 12 ton, with 4WD drive system, on a circular path drive and single line-change. One described methodology of the testing, used testing-measuring instrumentation, and distribution of the instrumentation in tested vehicle. It have been included a brief descriptions of the implemented instrumentation and method of acquisition and processing of the measurement data. One has tested a vehicle with highly located and considerably moved rearward centre of gravity. Such distribution of axle loads resulted from necessity of fulfilment of operational requirements of the vehicle. In the paper are presented test results performed for nominal and reduced with 20% tyre pressure. There were analyzed runs of lateral accelerations and axle slip angles in assumed condition of motion. One formulated general conclusions on stability characteristics for such type of vehicles.

The work presents selected results of experimental research on special purpose vehicles used on military training grounds, and bench tests of their main structural elements. The results are connected mainly with identifying the main vibration parameters of those vehicles (regarding weight, resilience and damping), and with the assessment of the level of dynamic loads. The more output data experimental research provides, the more input data we have for designing models. Determined in laboratory tests, weight parameters (regarding weight and moments of inertia), coefficients of stiffness and damping, as well as selected resilience and damping characteristics, are applied in the process of creating the numerical models of assemblies, systems, and complete vehicles. The numerical models created are subject to full verification in order to minimize the differences between the real objects and their representations. The models are applied in multivariate simulation tests of the existing design solutions, upgrading them, or creating new designs. Due to a certain sensitivity of the range of special purpose vehicles, the results of experimental tests and simulation analyses presented in the work are mainly qualitative rather than quantitative.

Opis:
Strict emission standards mean that the internal combustion engines used in means of transport must meet the standards for the emission of harmful compounds. For this reason, there is an increase in the use of alternative sources of propulsion, including rail transport. The article presents unconventional solutions of drive systems in rail vehicles using hybrid systems and fuel cells. The concept of the realizing project of a specialpurpose rail vehicle, which is to be able to be driven from three different sources, was presented. Considerations concerning the selection of the internal combustion propulsion system, which is to be used as an auxiliary in the vehicle, are described. The possibilities of installing the power unit on the vehicle were also presented.

The article focuses on the education of specialists in the field of agriculture on the example of the College of Agriculture of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The aim is to present the organization and operation of the College within the legal setting of the time. The text has been divided into two parts. The first concerns the period from the establishment of the College of Agriculture (i.e., from the end of the 19th century) to the end of World War I, when the university in Krakow was supervised by the Imperial and Royal Ministry of Religious Affairs and Education in Vienna. The second part is devoted to the period of operation of the College after regaining independence in 1918. The research has demonstrated that the College of Agriculture was an original and innovative solution among the institutions of higher education of the time. The curricula, designed both during the Austro-Hungarian rule and in independent Poland, guaranteed a fully professional education. The novelty was that the college students were also trained in law, political sciences, economics, and management; in other words, they graduated as modern agricultural managers. These conclusions represent a scientific value and demonstrate the originality of the research. Given that the research covers the domain of higher education system, it has an international reach.
Przedmiotem artykułu jest kształcenie specjalistów w zakresie rolnictwa na przykładzie Studium Rolniczego działającego na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim w Krakowie. Celem jest przedstawienie organizacji i działalności Studium w relacji do zasad prawnych, które je regulowały. Tekst został podzielony na dwie części. Pierwsza dotyczy okresu od organizacji Studium (tj. od końca XIX w.) do zakończenia I wojny światowej, kiedy to krakowska uczelnia pozostawała pod protektoratem c.k. Ministerstwa Wyznań i Oświaty w Wiedniu. Drugą część poświęcono Studium Rolniczemu funkcjonującemu po odzyskaniu niepodległości. W wyniku badań ustalono, że Studium stanowiło oryginalne i nowatorskie rozwiązania w zakresie szkolnictwa wyższego. Programy nauczania, zarówno austro-węgierskie, jak i rodzime, dawały gwarancję w pełni profesjonalnego wykształcenia. Novum stanowił fakt, że specjaliści otrzymywali wykształcenie także w zakresie prawa, nauk politycznych, ekonomii i zarzadzania, co pozwalało na kreowanie nowoczesnych menedżerów rolnictwa. Wnioski te mają wartość poznawczą dla nauki i zarazem przesądzają o oryginalności badań. Ze względu na obszar badań, jakim jest system szkolnictwa wyższego, mają one zasięg międzynarodowy.

Motorsport constitutes an excellent research laboratory for the entire automotive industry and all the related industry branches. Since the dawn of motorization, motor vehicle component systems have been developed and improved. This process will go on and there is no doubt that it will never stop. Engines with rising performance require increasing strength of transmission system components. The more efficient use of the power transmission system requires improvements in the suspension system, which will ensure better vehicle handling, and higher efficiency of brakes, so that the vehicles moving with higher and higher speeds can be stopped more effectively. An increase in the cruising speeds entails a higher accident hazard and this, in turn, requires safer construction of the vehicle body. The best way to develop the modifications is to test them in the difficult conditions of professional motorsports. The solutions engineered for this purpose and proven on such a kind of testing ground are afterwards adapted to mass-produced vehicles and used in everyday vehicle operation. This publication is to present the scope of the work to be done when building a high-performance sports car that must meet the requirements of regulations laid down by FIA (Federation Internationale del'Automobile) for vehicles of this type. The works described in this article were undertaken to modify the construction of a mass-produced Renault Clio car of the second generation in order to adapt it for professional motorsports, chiefly for starts in Polish and international rallycross championships. The modifications of this car intended for rallycross racing consisted in the designing or modernization of its individual parts and component units so that they were compatible with the specificity of this sport and were in conformity with FIA requirements.

Track works typically require the use of special-purpose rail machines, in which the main source of propulsion includes high-power compression ignition engines. Reliance on these types of engines, which are characterized by a significant degree of wear and tear, relates to relatively high specific fuel consumption and the exhaust emissions of toxic compounds. Using such rail machines to perform modernization and repair works has a negative impact on the natural environment. The article presents test results of toxic compounds exhaust emissions as measured from a special purpose rail machine. The tested vehicle was a machine designed for profiling the ballast cess labeled as PŁT-500. The machine was classified as NRMM (Non Road Mobile Machinery) as well as used for profiling and cleaning the cess. A PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System) type apparatus was used for the emissions measurement. This made it possible to measure the exhaust emissions as RDE (Real Driving Emissions) of toxic compounds from the machine under real operating conditions. The obtained test results include the measured exhaust emissions of gaseous compounds: CO, CO2, HC and NOx as well as the vehicle fuel consumption while performing its track works.

In response to the market demand for modern special-purpose rail vehicles, an overview of the rolling stock available on the European and world markets was developed, along with an analysis of the scope of works they performed. The need for new alternative forms of propulsion in line with the development directions, taking into account EU and national environmental goals, was discussed. The paper presents a design of a proprietary modern special-purpose vehicle with an alternative drive. It discusses it compared to other special-purpose vehicles regarding their parameters and the viability of different drive systems, including hydrogen fuel cells.

Purpose: The key driver to discussing this topic is the research gap in the field of management of SPVs in the ecosystem of innovation and adds the possibility of applying stakeholder theory as a tool supporting their management. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the article is to indicate the theoretical basis for the application of stakeholder theory as a tool supporting the management of SPVs. The article is based on a review of domestic and foreign literature and analyses the content of reports presenting Polish experiences regarding the performance of university-owned SPVs. Findings: Due to the specific conditions of functioning of SPVs, stakeholder analysis seems to be a useful tool in identifying the expectations of particular interest groups, and subsequently in undertaking actions aimed at effective management of their activities and creating value for the key stakeholders of SPVs. As a result, it may contribute to the increased effectiveness of companies and to more effective use of innovative potential through closer cooperation between science and business in the region. Research limitations/implications: Further research can focus on answers to the question: Are the managers of university-owned SPVs aware of the expectations of their key stakeholders? Practical implications: Stakeholder analysis may be an essential aid for the managers of SPVs in shaping their relations with the environment and building added value for key stakeholders. Originality/value: The article fills a research gap in the field of management of SPVs in the ecosystem of innovation and adds the possibility of applying stakeholder theory as a tool supporting their management.

The paper discusses organizational aspects of knowledge transfer and the commercialization of public research at Polish universities. It presents the evolution of national legislation in the field of knowledge transfer and commercialization and distinguishes four basic organizational models of these processes at universities: administrative, technology transfer offices, special purpose vehicles, and mixed. The strengths and weaknesses of each model are discussed. It also presents the main challenges and problems associated with the organizational aspects of knowledge transfer and commercialization, and it proposes some possible solutions in this matter.
W artykule omówiono aspekty organizacyjne transferu technologii na polskich uczelniach. Przedstawiono ewolucję krajowych regulacji prawnych w obszarze transferu technologii oraz wyróżniono cztery bazowe modele organizacyjne transferu technologii w uczelniach: administracyjny, centrów transferu technologii, spółek celowych i mieszany. Omówiono mocne i słabe strony każdego z nich. Przedstawiono również główne wyzwania i problemy związane z wymiarem organizacyjnym transferu technologii oraz propozycje rozwiązań w tym zakresie.

Im Beitrag werden ausgewählte Benennungsstrategien dargestellt, welche die Entstehung der Eisenbahn-Termini beeinflussen. Es soll dabei nachgewiesen werden, dass die Form der Fachtermini im Wesentlichen von solchen Aspekten wie Sprachökonomie und Verdeutlichungstendenz abhängt. Ein kurzer geschichtlicher Abriss und die besondere Hervorhebung der kognitiven Funktion von Fachsprachen sollen den Analyserahmen fundieren, indem sie einerseits auf die Relevanz des behandelten Themas und andererseits auf den mehrdimensionalen Charakter der gewonnenen Ergebnisse hindeuten.
Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje wybrane strategie nazewnicze, które wpływają na powstawanie terminów fachowych w branży kolejnictwa. Jednym z jego celów jest ukazanie, że forma tych pojęć jest w głównej mierze uzależniona od takich aspektów jak ekonomia językowa i ‘tendencja do uwidaczniania’. Krótki rys historyczny i szczególne podkreślenie znaczenia kognitywnej funkcji języków fachowych tworzą ramy niniejszej analizy, z jednej strony podkreślając wagę omawianego zagadnienia, z drugiej zaś wskazując na wielowymiarowy charakter uzyskanych wyników.
The following article presents selected naming strategies which affect terminologization in the railroad industry. One of its aims is to prove that the form of these terms is largely dependant on such aspects as the language economy and the ‘tendency to exposition/visualisation’. A short historical view and a particular emphasis on the cognitive function of languages for a special purposes create a frame of the following analysis, stressing the importance of the issue and, at the same time, showing the multidimensional character of the achieved results.

Opis:
The promotion of renewable energy is an essential part of EU energy policy, and it significantly contributes to the implementation of the Energy Union Framework strategy. With a 17% share in final energy consumption in 2015, the EU and the vast majority of Member States are well on track in terms of renewable energy deployment. The proposal for an energy cluster based policy, together with the energy clusters pilot packages, now under examination, aims to tackle the barriers limiting further local renewable energy growth.
