Opis:
The research studies on collective memory in Poland have long tradition and clear cultural perspective. The aim of the text is to show this research tradition, which is deeply associated withDurkheimian School legacy, very strong in Poland, both in prewar as well as in postwar period, especially in the work of Stefan Czarnowski, the only Polish member of this School. In this perspective the social memory is closely connected with culture and time. These two categories: culture and social time as important factors in collective memory studies conducted in Poland are object of the present paper. The paper is composed of three parts. In the first one author explains why relations between social memory, culture and social time are important for evaluation of the Polish research tradition. The second part concerns its cultural perspective and is dedicated to the works of Stefan Czarnowski, who started many years ago the cultural stream in Polish memory studies. The third part presents the idea of social time and relations between sociology of time and memory studies in Polish sociology. This specificity of the Polish research studies on collective memory is unknown today, especially for foreign researchers. This tradition is worthy to be recollected.

The essay faces up to the topic of “crisis” from the perspective of historical and sociological semantics. Troublesomeness of the crisis is a permanent fixture in any philosophy of historical time. An author sees a social reality as flows of social practices with their symbolic and material effects and assumptions, in the same breath. The subject of his considerations are selected representative theories and ideologies of “crisis” with their assumptions pertinent to philosophies of time and time politics. Considerations of the author refer to the semantic struggles in the field of “crisis” sociology. Conclusions are also referred to the epistemic standpoint of the sociology of security and its subjects matter, the vicious circle of fear, anxiety, and secular Providences in political projects of the future time.

This article is about social and cultural time as a constant and recurrent motive in Zygmunt Bauman’s work. Time and detemporalisation processes, continuity and mutability, permanency and episodicity are all sometimes more, sometimes less clearly outlined but always present themes in his analyses of modernity, postmodernity, globalisation, consumption, consumer society, contemporary social polarisation, and the condition of the socially excluded. This recurrent presence of the temporal dimension in Bauman’s writings means that his entire work can be viewed as an original, multidimensional, coherent, consistent and also very interesting voice on time and its vicissitudes in our present world. Bauman’s contribution to the temporal analysis of our age is presented against the broader backdrop of contemporary reflection on the issue of time.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to present seniors’ opinions about their activity and ways to meet seniors’ needs. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem was centered around: participation in senior social life; forms of activity undertaken by seniors; ways to spend free time by seniors and the needs of the elderly. Survey was used as the research method. The studies were diagnostic and exploratory. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The progressive demographic change in Polish society makes active and active aging more active and the elderly’s needs for care and support become a major stimulus for satisfaction and quality of life. The article reviews the opinions of seniors about their activity and ways of meeting their needs. RESEARCH RESULTS: This study has shown that participation in social life, forms of activity and the needs of the elderly in various ways are met and implemented. Seniors indicating inactivity (in this study are mainly social welfare beneficiaries) generally declare that they feel socially excluded. These people choose a type of home and solitary activity, and spending their free time is mainly based on watching TV and listening to the radio. On the other hand, active seniors (in this study are mainly participants in senior clubs) are satisfied with their role in society. Free time is spent on meetings with people, e.g. in the club and prefer to take various activities. Research also shows that various forms of senior activism, including senior ones, have an impact on the quality of life of the elderly, significantly improving their activity, while addressing higher needs and counteracting social exclusion. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMENDATIONS: There is a need for more intensified action by aid institutions, directed towards seniors who are inactive, excluded – social welfare clients, so that they too can live in the “autumn of life.” Training should also be provided to social workers who equip tchem with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively with the seniors and to effectively and effectively reintegrate and reintegrate them.

The number of acquaintances is relevant for modeling social networks. Here we consider the data on the declared number of friends, as collected in 2000, 2007 and 2015 from Polish respondents above the age of 50. We demonstrate that the answers on the number of friends show sharp maxima at 10, 15, 20 and sometimes 30, which accompany a broader peak between 0 and 8. These results do not change qualitatively with sex and age of the respondents. The effect, known as data heaping, can be detected as a deviation from the Benford law.

Issues concerning leisure activities of officers take an important place in studies relating to this matter. Good atmosphere in the family and appropriate relations with relatives are crucial both in individual and societal dimensions. They are socially desirable as limiting the occurence of stressful and pejorative situations that do not have a positive impact on the functioning either at professional or "civilian" levels. This is also a sugnificant element from the point of view of an institution, an employee and a military employer.

Background: The purpose of the current study was to examine the differences in primary and secondary psychopathy scores, criminal social identity dimensions (cognitive centrality, in-group affect, and in-group ties), and criminal network between four groups of juvenile offenders: murderers, attempted murderers, recidivistic nonhomicidal offenders, and firsttime nonhomicidal offenders. Participants and procedure: Self-reported data were collected among 725 male youth offenders (Mage = 16.47 years) incarcerated in four prisons in Pakistan. Results: The results revealed no significant differences in scores between the four groups of youth offenders on any of the measured variables. Conclusions: It appears that psychosocial selfreported measures may not be effective in discriminating among youth prison populations.

The social legislation is a current and political issue in the field of road freight transport. Working conditions for drivers in the EU (including Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland) are governed by Regulation (EC) No 561/2006. Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 - known as the Driving Time Regulation - lays down rules on driving times, breaks and rest periods for drivers of lorries and buses to improve working conditions and road safety. A number of new amendments to this regulation were adopted on 15 July 2020. The aim of this paper is to present the most important changes adopted compared to the previous version of the Regulation. The paper deals with the adopted changes in the following areas: weekly rest periods, secure parking areas, vehicles which are transported by ferry or train and exceeding driving time which may jeopardize road safety. The main purpose of this paper is to summarize and inform researchers, practitioners and all interested parties about the adopted changes in the Regulation, as well as the transport companies responsible for planning and scheduling the working time of drivers and also for preventing unpleasant experiences resulting from possible compliance with the conditions of the Regulation. The adopted changes in Regulation are also illustrated in the figures and table to better understand the differences.

The time perspective has been the subject of various studies aimed at understanding human behavior. Our goal was to extend the growing literature in this field by studying the role of time perspectives in shaping online behavior among digital natives. 569 digital natives at the tertiary education level completed self-report forms assessing two major processes: time perspectives and online behavior. Adverse time-perspective biases were found to be related to rude, harsh, and distrustful online behavior. Present-oriented people displayed a high amount of online activity, while future-oriented ones showed a more functional approach to Internet use. Pastpositive and past-negative orientations occurred concomitantly with different levels of affability online. We discuss the findings and their limitations, along with suggestions for future research in this field. As it is possible to modify time perspectives, this study may contribute to the development of methods aimed at preventing undesirable online behavior and improving individuals’ well-being.

This essay proposes that time preference is an essential component of analysis of collective behavior and provision of public goods. It addresses the validity of the assumption that time preference, as a parameter in individual utility functions, is exogenous and fi xed. While individual time discounting is used to predict many social phenomena, it is quite often applied in a fi xed form where the possibility of change is rarely discussed. The mechanism of change in individual time discounting is explored in different social contexts, using student, inmate and drug addict populations. This study establishes that certain parameters, such as the length of exposure to new environment and new social connections, are of extreme importance in determining the degree of change in time discounting.

Opis:
Challenging job demands are those which require the use of high energy and thus may impair health but bring positive consequences too. The present study aimed to construct a measure for challenging job demands for university teachers. Methods: The study is based upon the model developed by Makhdoom and Malik (2018) which proposed three challenging job demands including Regulatory Load, Social Load, and Cognitive Demands. On the basis of the literature review, Time Pressure was also studied as a factor. First of all, the authors created an initial item pool of 19 items which were categorized into four factors. The finalized item pool was administered on two independent samples drawn from various universities of Pakistan. In the first stage, the university teachers (N = 201) from three universities of the Punjab province were approached. EFA concluded three-factor and 13 items, which were then administered upon a sample of university teachers (N = 600). Results: The CFA confirmed the three-factor structure of challenging job demands including Time Pressure, Cognitive Demands and Social Load. All the fit indices were within an acceptable range. The values of factor loadings and Cronbach Alpha justified the internal consistency and psychometric soundness of the newly developed measure. Discussion: The study concludes a psychometrically sound scale to measure challenging job demands in university teachers which will be helpful in future studies. The limitations of the study along with suggestions for future research and important theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
