Issues concerning leisure activities of officers take an important place in studies relating to this matter. Good atmosphere in the family and appropriate relations with relatives are crucial both in individual and societal dimensions. They are socially desirable as limiting the occurence of stressful and pejorative situations that do not have a positive impact on the functioning either at professional or "civilian" levels. This is also a sugnificant element from the point of view of an institution, an employee and a military employer.

The article attempts to present emerging adulthood, i.e. experiences during the transition from adolescence to full adult status from the perspective of the social role theory. The empirical basis is survey research carried out on a random, nationwide sample of people aged 18-29 (n=303), stratified by gender and size of the town. The aim of the analysis is to answer questions about identification with roles, and changing the complexity of roles depending on age, gender, and self-identification with the status of an adult. The results indicate that in the period of emerging adulthood, the professional role becomes particularly important, and the set of roles related to the status of an adult overshadows the roles typical of adolescence. In addition, it has been shown that women identify with more roles than men and more often include the parental role and the role of wife/partner in the set of roles.

State entrepreneurship, or rather statism, was a strongly developed phenomenon in the economy of interwar Poland. Initially, its source was the legacy of the partition period in the form of the considerable assets of the partitioned states, numerous industrial plants, banks, transport infrastructure, forests and land. In a reborn Poland, in order to strengthen the economy and military potential, the authorities undertook, among other things, a number of industrial investments, developed state-owned banking and transport enterprises and organised profitable treasury monopolies. The share of the state sector in the economy reached 20%, and in some areas even 100%. Researchers of state entrepreneurship, usually, have emphasised its considerable economic efficiency and important social role.

The paper analyzes the role-making of an orchestral conductor. It is framed by the symbolic interactionist perspective and focuses on Ralph Turner’s role-making theory and the works of Alfred Schütz and Howard S. Becker and associates. The research project is based on grounded theory methodology. The applied techniques include semi-structured interviews, video-elicited interviews, observations of teaching conducting and opera rehearsals, video analysis, and secondary data analysis. The results reveal how the process of role-making is shaped during secondary socialization and indicate the social features of the role, such as high social prestige, awareness of the body, an exclusive social group, and teamwork. The role-making process is based on permanent interactions and negotiations with social actors: the composer and the musical score, the orchestra, soloists, ballet, and the audience. Additionally, it is influenced by cultural factors, such as the conductor’s gender, age, nationality and international experience, competencies, as well as the type of professional contract. At the same time, conductors need to actively maintain the image of determined and resolute individualists, as expected by the social actors they interact with.

Opis:
Political activity is a type of social activity displayed by citizens. Observations and research indicate that gender can be a factor which conditions its degree and forms. Apart from biological gender, which shapes the societal roles of women and men, additional factors that are supposedly responsible for their activities include elements of the system of beliefs (i.e. acknowledged political values, conviction that political activity has an importance, level of satisfaction with democracy as well as individualism and collectivism understood as an element of individual’s mentality). The impact of those factors on degree of conventional political activities among women and men is the subject of surveys which were conducted in 2004, 2010, and 2014 on a group of 1048 students from Polish universities. The received results show that differences in political activity between surveyed men and women as well as varying determinants in both groups are slowly fading away. The most important predictors of women’s political activity include: conviction of its significance in democracy and (dis)satisfaction with the way it functions.

Principle of Normalization have had a profound impact on all the disability rehabilitation services across the world. Many radical changes towards services for persons with disabilities were brought by Principle of Normalization, originated in 1969 few of such changes are inclusion, full inclusion, self determination, individualized support, community based rehabilitation, integration etc. As a consequence of Normalization, disability gained the attention of the mass and became very popular across the globe as ‘a right based ideology, which in turn, initiated integration, inclusion, community based rehabilitation and other non-segregating practices but surprisingly inclusion became very popular much more than Normalization. In fact inclusion has its root in Principle of Normalization. This chapter is intended to introduce the Principle of Normalization as a philosophy behind inclusive practices. An understanding of principle of normalization is essential to understand inclusion or other such inclusive practices in true sense. This chapter discusses in detail all eight facets of normalization an the reasons why it was misunderstood and further extended as social role valorization.

The aim of this article is to discuss the problem of social role of women in contemporary China from eating and drinking behaviour perspective. The article has been written on the base of long term empirical study conducted in contemporary Beijing. The author is focusing on two issues he has noticed during his research: the growing number of young Chinese men behaving courteously towards women, and the growing participation of women in interactions which have been taking place in public (in Beijing restaurants). The author is trying to find out if those phenomena can be considered as important indicators and catalysts of the women’s social position advancement or they are just manifestations of insignificant and short-lived fashion.

With this article I show the perception shared by high school and university students in Poland concerning the role of the priest in the Church and society. The basis of these findings are the results of three sociological studies that I carried out in years 1983, 1998, and 2008, realized among 976 high school students and 414 university students in Kalisz, Poland. In the given 25 year period, the perception of the role of the religious priest in the Church and the parish, as well as his social role in a democratic state, underwent major changes. Both types of roles-religious and social-recognized by the audited youth differ significantly from their definition as given by the doctrine of the Catholic Church. The youth imagine the priest in these roles in a different way than the Church and concentrate their attention on those elements that have practical significance. Indicators of these changes are included in the statistical tables.

Era postprawdy to czas podważania podstawowych wartości, takich jak prawda, uczciwość, rzetelność czy etyka dziennikarska. Mianem postprawdy określa się sytuację, w której opinia publiczna jest kształtowana na podstawie emocji i osobistych przekonań jednostek (istotne jest odwoływanie się do emocji i osobistych poglądów), a nie w oparciu o fakty, które są mniej znaczące. Specyficzny obraz życia społeczno-politycznego, kreowany przez media i klasę polityczną, jest efektem dynamicznie rozwijającego się populizmu. Postprawda to stan, w którym z dyskursu publicznego wykorzeniony zostaje merytoryczny dyskurs, zastępują go gra na emocjach odbiorców i tania sensacja. Stosuje się termin do zakamuflowania faktu, iż w rzeczywistości mowa jest o jawnym kłamstwie. Wokół formacji Służby Więziennej przez lata narosły mity i stereotypy, żyją własnym życiem w społecznej świadomości. Na ich kanwie powstają nowe alternatywne fakty, pół-prawdy i kłamstwa, tworzone i podsycane co jakiś czas przez media, poszukujące sensacji. Tym sposobem co jakiś czas doklejane są „klawiszom” kolejne łatki. Zawód funkcjonariusza Służby Więziennej od zawsze owiany był nimbem tajemnicy oraz krążących o nim legend. Więzienia oraz areszty były – i wciąż są – miejscami budzącymi lęk i jednocześnie ludzką ciekawość, jak wygląda świat za wysokim murem i co skrywają korytarze za metalową bramą. Niechęć i brak zaufania wiąże się z lękiem i niewiedzą ludzi, którzy wciąż postrzegają świat po drugiej stronie muru, jako tajemniczy i budzący grozę. Na co dzień trudno o kontakt z funkcjonariuszem, który znika z pola widzenia zaraz po przekroczeniu więziennej bramy. Społeczeństwo nie ma wiedzy o ludziach, którzy strzegą porządku i bezpieczeństwa. Jego wyobrażenie o Służbie Więziennej jest nikłe, znane z literatury przedmiotu i relacji mediów, które często przejaskrawiają wydarzenia, wyrywając je z szerszego kontekstu. Naukowa ciekawość badacza oraz chęć oswojenia więziennej przestrzeni, obalenia mitów funkcjonujących w świadomości społecznej i stereotypowego sposobu myślenia o profesji więziennika, sprawiły, iż Autorki zaprojektowały badania z elementami interwencji społecznej i edukacyjnej, których podmiotem stała się grupa społeczna funkcjonariuszy Służby Więziennej. Projekty naukowo-badawcze oraz animacyjne, realizowane w ramach powołanego do życia w 2017 roku Międzysektorowego Partnerstwa „PANOPTIKUM”, pozwalają pokazać blaski i cienie tego zawodu, przedstawić portrety funkcjonariuszy, ich pasje, marzenia i dylematy, opisać historie życia wpisane w historie miejsc nietuzinkowych, jak oni sami.
The post-truth era is a time of questioning basic values such as truth, honesty, integrity or journalistic ethics. Post-truth is a situation in which public opinion is influenced by the emotions and personal beliefs of individuals (it is important to refer to emotions and personal views), and not by facts, which are less important. The specific image of socio-political life, created by the media and the political class, is the result of dynamically developing populism. Post-truth is a state in which substantive discourse is removed from public discourse and replaced by playing on the emotions of the public and cheap sensationalism. The term is used to disguise the fact that, in reality, we are dealing with an outright lie. The myths and stereotypes that have surrounded the Prison Service for years live their own life in the public consciousness. They are the basis for new alternative facts, half-truths, and lies, created and fueled from time to time by the media looking for sensation. In this way, every now and then, “jailers” are given new labels. The profession of a Prison Service officer has always been shrouded in mystery and legends. Prisons and detention centers were – and still are – places that arouse fear and, at the same time, human curiosity as to what the world behind high walls looks like and what happens in the corridors behind metal gates. Reluctance and lack of trust is linked to the fear and ignorance of people who still perceive the world on the other side of the wall as mysterious and terrifying. It is difficult to have daily contact with an officer who disappears from sight as soon as they go through the prison gate. The public has no knowledge of the people who protect order and security. Its understanding of the Prison Service is poor, based on the literature and media reports, which often exaggerate events and take them out of a broader context. The scientific curiosity inherent in a researcher and the desire to tame the prison space, to dispel the myths functioning in the social consciousness and the stereotypical way of thinking about the profession of a prison guard led the authors to design research with elements of social and educational intervention, the subject of which became the social group of Prison Service officers. Scientific and research, as well as animation projects, carried out within the framework of the Intersectoral Partnership PANOPTIKUM established in 2017, make it possible to show the splendors and shadows of this occupation, to present portraits of officers, their passions, dreams and dilemmas, to report life stories embedded in the histories of places as extraordinary as the officers themselves.

This article focuses on the innovative methodology used to collect data. We describe how we have utilized the diary method and what analytical potential it contains. We also flag the limitations we have perceived during the research. At the same time, so as not to refrain entirely from a discussion of the study findings, we recreate selected shared attributes in the careers of culture animators. A hybrid research method was used to report and interpret the reality of our surroundings. This involved the use of a diary in which the animators described facts and events from the previous day while also plotting data concerning their location on the Google map; they enriched their notes with short essays, pictures, and video clips. Then, the animators as subjects in the research took part in one-on-one in-depth interviews to summarize their experience. Deliberations on the utility and innovativeness of these ethnographic methods are accompanied by considerations as to the variety of experience held by culture animators and the factors driving their occupational choices.
Artykuł, skupia się na nowatorskiej metodologii, jaką wykorzystano do zbierania danych. Wskazujemy, w jaki sposób wykorzystaliśmy metodę dzienniczkową oraz jaki niesie ona z sobą potencjał analityczny. Sygnalizujemy również ograniczenia, które dostrzegliśmy w trakcie badania. Jednocześnie, by nie rezygnować zupełnie z dyskusji nad wnioskami z badania, odtwarzamy wybrane cechy wspólne w karierach zawodowych animatorów kultury. Do relacjonowania i interpretacji otaczającej ich rzeczywistości posłużyła nam hybrydalna metoda badania. Polegała ona na zastosowaniu dzienniczka, w którym badani opisywali fakty i zdarzenia z dnia poprzedniego, a dane o swojej lokalizacji nanosili na mapę Google; notatki wzbogacali o krótkie eseje, materiał fotograficzny i filmowy. Następnie badani animatorzy wzięli udział w podsumowujących indywidualnych wywiadach pogłębionych. Rozważaniom nad użytecznością i innowacyjnością zastosowanych metod etnograficznych towarzyszy refleksja nad zróżnicowaniem doświadczeń animatorów kultury oraz czynnikami wpływającymi na ich zawodowe wybory.

The paper analyses competences of the teacher in a virtual classroom. It describes the reconfiguration of social behaviours and the role of the teacher in the virtual class after taking into account the theory of dialectics of globalization by Anthony Giddens, developed by Norman Fairclough with respect to social discourse and interpersonal interactions. Professional and family roles are one of the basic and most important roles performed by adults. Transformations of modern organisations and families show that these two types of social groups are closely related. Work allows people to acquire material resources that are necessary to meet family needs and determine its social status. This study is of qualitative nature. Its main goal is to identify the factors that limit professional activation of mothers and those that limit implementation of the right of fathers to engage in the family life related to the difficulties encountered in reconciling professional and family roles. The attempt to identify these factors was carried out at the level of individual parent strategies, organisation practices, and at the level of implemented social policy, taking into account employers' organisations and trade union opinions.
