Opis:
The paper deals with structuring robot control systems. The control system is decomposed into distinct agents. An agent, in general, is responsible for control of its effector, perception of the environment for the purpose of its effector control, and inter-agent communication. The behaviour of the agent is governed by its set of transition functions. The control system consists of two tiers – the upper tier is defined by the flow of information between the agents and the lower tier is defined by formal specification of each agent’s behaviour (influence on the environment, gathering sensor readings, production and consumption of the information for/from the other agents). The paper presents one of the examples of utilization of this approach. The example concerns the multi-robot drawing copying system.

The IoT systems are growing field of automation. In contrast to industrial applications, where the system is custom made for each customer or use case, the home IoT systems can be composed and used in many, sometimes dangerous and unpredictable, ways. This paper presents a system that is based on a common ontology as a unified and universal method of representing the environment including humans. Such approach allows for easy integration of heterogenous devices and declarative definition of services, tasks, and rules ensuring human safety and/or comfort.

In this work we present an application of the concept of non-cooperative game equilibria to the design of a collision free movement of a team of mobile robots in a dynamic environment. We propose the solution to the problem of feasible control synthesis, based on a partially centralized sensory system. The control strategy based on the concept of non-cooperative game equilibria is well known in the literature. It is highly efficient through phases where the solution is unique. However, even in simple navigation problems, it happens that multiple equilibria occur, which incurs a problem for control synthesis and may lead to erroneous results. In this paper we present a solution to this problem based on the partial centralization idea. The coordinator module is incorporated into the system and becomes active when multiple equilibria are detected. The coordination method includes a ``fair arbiter'' for the selection of an appropriate equilibrium solution. Simulation studies of the proposed methodology were carried out for 2, 3 and 5 robots, and their results are presented.

Opis:
This paper tackles the Multi-Robot Task Allocation problem. It consists of two distinct sets: a set of tasks (requiring resources), and a set of robots (offering resources). Then, the tasks are allocated to robots while optimizing a certain objective function subject to some constraints; e.g., allocating the maximum number of tasks, minimizing the distances traveled by the robots, etc. Previous works mainly optimized the temporal and spatial constraints, but no work focused on energetic constraints. Our main contribution is the introduction of energetic constraints on multi-robot task allocation problems. In addition, we propose an allocation method based on parallel distributed guided genetic algorithms and compare it to two state-of-the-art algorithms. The performed simulations and obtained results show the effectiveness and scalability of our solution, even in the case of a large number of robots and tasks. We believe that our contribution is applicable in many contemporary areas of research such as smart cities and related topics.

Opis:
Multi-robot systems have substantially increased capabilities over single-robot systems and can handle very large or peculiar objects. This paper presents a differential (incremental) motion planning algorithm for an m-robot system (m >or=2) to cooperatively transfer an object from an initial to a desired final position / orientation by rigidly holding it at given respective points Q[sub 1], Q[sub 2],..., Q[sub m]. One of the robots plays the role of a "master" while other robots operate in the "slave" mode maintaining invariant their relative positions and orientations during the system motion. The method employs the differential displacements of the end-effector of each robot arm. Then, the differential displacements of the joints of the m robots are computed for the application of incremental motion control. The algorithm was tested on many examples. A representative of them is shown here, concerning the case of three STAUBLI RX-90L robots similar to 6-dof PUMA robots. The results obtained show the practicality and effectiveness of the method, which, however, needs particular care for completely eliminating the cumulative errors that may occur.

Opis:
This work addresses the development of a distributed switching control strategy to drive the group of mobile robots in both backward and forward motion in a tightly coupled geometric pattern, as a solution for the deadlock situation that arises while navigating the unknown environment. A generalized closed-loop tracking controller considering the leader referenced model is used for the robots to remain in the formation while navigating the environment. A tracking controller using the simple geometric approach and the Instantaneous Centre of Radius (ICR), to drive the robot in the backward motion during deadlock situation is developed and presented. State-Based Modelling is used to model the behaviors/motion states of the proposed approach in MATLAB/STATEFLOW environment. Simulation studies are carried out to test the performance and error dynamics of the proposed approach combining the formation, navigation, and backward motion of the robots in all geometric patterns of formation, and the results are discussed.

Opis:
This paper presents an application of the Hough Transform to the task of identifying objects of unknown scale, e.g. within a scene in a robot vision system. The presented method is based on the Hough Transform for irregular objects, with a parameter space defined by translation, rotation and scaling operations. The high efficiency of the technique allows for poorquality or highly complex images to be analysed. The technique may be used in robot vision systems, identification systems or for image analysis, directly on grey-level images.

This article presents the synthesis of a neural motion control system of a robot caused by disturbances of constraints limiting the movement, which are the result of flexibility and disturbances of the contact surface. A synthesis of the control law is presented, in which the knowledge of the robot's dynamics and the parameters of a susceptible environment is not required. Moreover, the stability of the system is guaranteed in the case of an inaccurately known surface of the environment. This was achieved by introducing an additional module to the control law in directions normal to the surface of the environment. This additional term can be interpreted as the virtual viscotic resistance and spring force acting on the robot. This approach ensured the self-regulation of the robot’s interaction force with the compliant environment, limiting the impact of the geometrical inaccuracy of the environment.

This article describes interactive methods that can ease difficult manipulation tasks in Search & Rescue operations. We discuss the requirements that are necessary for a telemanipulation system to be successfully used. These include not just correctness of generated motion but also ergonomy, mobility and interactivity of the operator’s interface. We show that grippers with one or more degrees of freedom can be intuitively controlled by different interface mechanisms, supported by 3D vision systems. Tests are performed both in the simulation environment and with real grippers. A practical pipeline for a direct control and learning the system is also presented.

Approximately 50 to 60 percent of the more than five million stroke survivors are moderately or minimally impaired, and may greatly benefit from rehabilitation. There is a strong need for cost-effective, long-term rehabilitation solutions, which require the therapists to provide repetitive movements to the affected limb. This is a suitable task for specialized robotic devices; however, with the few commercially available robots, the therapists are required to spend a considerable amount of time programming the robot, monitoring the patients, analyzing the data from the robot, and assessing the progress of the patients. This paper focuses on the design, development, and clinically testing an expert systembased post-stroke robotic rehabilitation system for hemiparetic arm. The results suggest that it is not necessary for a therapist to continuously monitor a stroke patient during robotic training. Given the proper intelligent tools for a rehabilitation robot, cost-effective long-term therapy can be delivered with minimal supervision.

Opis:
Iterative Learning Control (ILC) is a well-known method for control of systems performing repetitive jobs with high precision. This paper presents Constrained Output ILC (COILC) for non-linear state space constrained systems. In the existing literature there is no general solution for applying ILC to such systems. This novel method is based on the Bounded Error Algorithm (BEA) and resolves the transient growth error problem, which is a major obstacle in applying ILC to non-linear systems. Another advantage of COILC is that this method can be applied to constrained output systems. Unlike other ILC methods the COILC method employs an algorithm that stops the iteration before the occurrence of a violation in any of the state space constraints. This way COILC resolves both the hard constraints in the non-linear state space and the transient growth problem. The convergence of the proposed numerical procedure is proved in this paper. The performance of the method is evaluated through a computer simulation and the obtained results are compared to the BEA method for controlling non-linear systems. The numerical experiments demonstrate that COILC is more computationally effective and provides better overall performance. The robustness and convergence of the method make it suitable for solving constrained state space problems of non-linear systems in robotics.

Opis:
This paper deals with the improvement of the stability of sampled-data (SD) feedback control for nonlinear multiple-input multiple-output time varying systems, such as robotic manipulators, by incorporating an off-line model based nonlinear iterative learning controller. The proposed scheme of nonlinear iterative learning control (NILC) with SD feedback is applicable to a large class of robots because the sampled-data feedback is required for model based feedback controllers, especially for robotic manipulators with complicated dynamics (6 or 7 DOF, or more), while the feedforward control from the off-line iterative learning controller should be assumed as a continuous one. The robustness and convergence of the proposed NILC law with SD feedback is proven, and the derived sufficient condition for convergence is the same as the condition for a NILC with a continuous feedback control input. With respect to the presented NILC algorithm applied to a virtual PUMA 560 robot, simulation results are presented in order to verify convergence and applicability of the proposed learning controller with SD feedback controller attached.
