The paper presents research results of working section for Strip-Till cultivation, developed in a project PBS1/B8/4/2012 conducted under the Applied Research Programme. The publication considers reinforced soil in relation to the construction of retaining walls in communication construction. The basic elements determining the cooperation of reinforcement inserts with the ground centre are discussed, depending on the features characterizing the components of the composite. The method and selected results of tests performed on a massif model with a vertical wall made of non-cohesive ground have been presented. A calculation example is given concerning the internal dimensioning of the reinforcement of the considered massif model, assuming the work of inserts without slipping in the ground centre. The concept of reinforcement co-operation indicator with the ground centre was introduced and a dependence to calculate its value was developed. The values of co-operation indicators: general and partial, concerning individual measurement levels of the model have been presented appropriately.

The article focuses on the conduct of experimental research with seniors. I would like to present the limitations and the advantages of experimental research in the following fi elds: specifi cs of the method, specifi cs of the research group and competences of the researcher. Data gathered through interviews with persons engaged in the experiment with seniors will serve as illustration of the discussion. In the article I have emphasised the limitations, but only in order to demonstrate how attempts can be made at dealing with them. The advan-tages connected with the opportunities provided by experimental research are self-evident.

The paper presents an innovative method for assessing technical condition of a marine diesel engine that drives synchronous genera-tor. It is based on the measurement and analysis of generator's phase-to-phase voltage. Additionally, it requires the measurement of a pseudoperiodic signal [3] with a period equal to duration of engine's working cycle. The basis for developing method was the assumption that rotational speed fluctuations of an engine’s crankshaft (and also the generator) depend on a course of a working process carried out in it. The generator's phase-to-phase voltage is directly dependent on a rotational speed fluctuation of its rotor. It must therefore be possible to assess a course of a working process of an engine based on a voltage waveform of a synchronous generator that cooperates together.

Opis:
The Knurów hard coal deposit is characterized by rich fold and fault tectonics and diverse morphology of the overburden. The deposit contains a fold zone called Knurów anticline and four complex of faults with the total amplitudes reaching up to several dozen meters. While making a 3D model of the deposit, a range of complications related to the correct interpretation of the running and development of the aforementioned tectonic structures were encountered. Additional data were begun to be introduced during the detailed analysis of the 3D model being made in stages, thereby forcing the software to perform the modeling according to preset assumptions. This process covered such areas of the deposit that were poorly explored or documented to an extent requiring an intervention from a geologist.

This paper presents an attempt to apply the simulation model in the study of the dynamic aspects of material-flow in a warehouse. At first the research approach was briefly subjected under explanation and literature review was given. Then simulation tools are noted and various stages of the simulation research procedure, developed by the author of the paper, are discussed. The general way of construction and the use of the simulation model are also described. The paper contains several conclusions based on results of simulation runs as well as suggestions of topics for further study.

The paper presents the results of the work on monitoring research competence in teaching students of higher education institutions in the specialty of management. The system of monitoring research competence by means of qualimetric tools - factor-criteria model, makes it possible to achieve the following results: to determine the level of its formation at the initial stage; to track the dynamics of the formation and make adjustments to educational technology; to provide students with selfcontrol means at the final stage of studying the course. The model is built in accordance with the content of the stages of business practice research (business processes and management systems), which allows „equipping” students with the means of self-diagnostics of the competence quality and is an objective indicator of the achieved results of the educational process.

Many researchers argue that the analysis process of any narrative and biographical inquiry is a delicate, arduous and complex stage and requires creativity, advanced skills and the technique of the researcher. This research note, based on a research project carried out in Spain, makes a unique contribution to this debate by reflecting about the Cross-Narrative Model, whose father was Lewis (1973), introducing two concepts: Biographical Units and the Analysis Units. Furthermore, it describes the analysis process laying emphasis on the particular methodological challenges and possible benefits of using these units to build up a two-part biographical account. This research note concludes that the use of the Cross-Narrative Analysis model could be considered as a possible alternative to the on-going discussion on advancing the rigorous and resourcefulness narrative qualitative analysis endeavour.

The need to undertake research work on the commercialization of results from scientific research and development projects emerged from the Author’s professional experience as well as the incomprehensive literature on the role of Polish research institutes in the process of technology transfer and commercialization of innovative solutions, in particular in the case of mining machinery and equipment. From the available literature, the commercialization of research results and technology transfer are analyzed from the perspectives of academia and entrepreneurs, but there is no analysis of this challenge from the perspective of the research institutes which create the majority of innovative solutions implemented in Poland. The research results presented in this article identify and highlight not only the main factors which facilitate knowledge transfer in the widest sense, but also the barriers which should be overcome. An integrated commercialization model of research results, developed by the Author, is described in the article. Some examples of other models, used to assess innovative technology transfer processes, i.e. Transfer model of the Cracow University of Technology, Jolly’s model, United model (science + market), Trzmielak’s linear – subsequent model, Network – interactive model and IpOp model, are also presented. Special attention is paid to the process of generating innovative ideas and to the area of efficient project management. Based on the integrated model, practical management recommendations for the successful commercialization of innovative solutions are given. It is highlighted that the integrated model can be treated as a diagnostic tool, enabling an efficient assessment of the transfer of research results and commercialization of innovative solutions.

This work presents the physical model of changes setting in multilayer bearing of combustion engines. It is known, that the slide bearing of high-load combustion engines independently from manufacturing technology, must have a material stability with regard on diffusion process of the alloy components. The present state of materials used on slide multilayer bearings of combustion engines has not changed during the last 30-year. Only small changes and modifications of material multilayer bearings, with the use of the same groups of materials, independently from specific manufacturing technology of bearing and their use were observed. The change of bearings materials. growth of operating requirements of combustion engines, ecological limitation and the price of materials may force changes in present constructional and technological conception of multilayer, in range of materials selection and huilding the bearings. This work presents the physical model of changes setting in multilaver bearing on different building. U was found that the slide bearing of high-load combustion engines is not physically and thermally stable up to l80 centigrade. Different models show that after heating, all phases and structural components present on graph of equilibrium in given temperature are not created.

The key problem in studies of marketing objects (e.g., brands, political parties) is the lack of agreement on the universal dimensions through which such objects are perceived, as well as on methodologies allowing their identification. As a result, researchers often use structural models (and instruments) that lack ecological validity. We offer a solution to that problem by presenting a methodology that draws on lexical research and which has allowed researchers to establish universal dimensions of personality perception in psychology. By discussing the theoretical and methodological tenets of the multilevel lexical approach to exploring images of marketing objects, we also overcome another problem of neglecting the hierarchical structure of the phenomena and data.

The Ludic strategy, an approach to foreign language teaching (FLT), popularised by the present author since the 1990’s which acknowledges the value of a humanistic approach, yet also emphasises an emergence of positive feelings, while engaging in the ludic tasks for FLT purposes, is in line with the claims of positive psychology. For the analysis the most popular model of the well-being theory, Seligman’s PERMA model will be used. Referring to research in FLT on language competence, I will analyse the benefits of applying LS in the FL classroom, and by using the PERMA model I will show that LS can be treated as a useful tool for FLT congruent with the claims of positive psychology, and that the model can be used in planning FLT research.

The paper presents a prototype of an innovatory controllable torsional damper. The device is composed of Vacuum Packed Particles. Such structures are made of granular materials placed in a hermetic soft encapsulation. Generating so called underpressure inside the system changes global dissipative properties of the granular structure. The partial vacuum value is a convenient way to control physical properties of the granular structure. The authors introduce an original prototype of a torsional vibration attenuator. In the experimental part, preliminary experimental results are presented and discussed. To capture the real response of the device, a Bouc-Wen rheological model is adopted.
