Opis:: This article aims to identify the main requirements to strengthen the railroad industry in Santa Catarina by using technology roadmapping. The railway industry is composed of carriers, manufacturers, suppliers, operators, logistics, services and education. The survey aimed to provide guidelines for the Federation of the State of Santa Catarina Industry (FIESC) to develop its strategic plan for the next eight years. Based on the survey, the roadmap defined vision, mission, a list of key concepts, drivers and actions for the Federation to support the railway industry development, since this industrial sector is still economically unrepresented when compared to other sectors in Santa Catarina. The survey also pointed out there is a strong expansion program of the railway freight and railway transport for people in Brazil, both in government and private sectors.
Este artigo objetiva identificar os principais requisitos para fortalecer a indústria ferroviária em Santa Catarina (SC), por meio da aplicação do processo de technology roadmapping. A indústria ferroviária é composta por transportadores, fabricantes, fornecedores, operadores de logística, serviços e educação. A pesquisa objetivou fornecer orientações para a Federação das Indústrias de Santa Catarina (FIESC) com a finalidade de desenvolver um plano estratégico para os próximos oito anos. Baseando-se na pesquisa, definiram-se a visão, missão e uma lista de conceitos chaves, drivers e ações para que a FIESC apoiasse o desenvolvimento da indústria ferroviária, uma vez que esta é economicamente pouco representativa em comparação com outras indústrias no estado de SC. A pesquisa apontou que há forte expansão do transporte de cargas e pessoas no Brasil, tanto nos setores governamentais quanto nos setores privados.

Opis:: The article discusses issues related to agile enterprise management, in particular, the aspects related to the opportunities resulting from the implementation of various types of innovations. The main aim of the article was to present the innovations implemented by a selected company in the railroad sector to determine their impact on the possibility of opportunity creation. An in-depth analysis of the literature related to theoretical issues was presented, as well as a description of specific scientific cases for which the implementation of innovations resulted in the emergence of opportunities, which led to different types of enterprise profits. In order to achieve the main goal, it was necessary to present the functioning of a selected railway construction company over several years showing revenues and profits. It was important to indicate innovations in individual years and their impact on the company's operations, and in particular on the emergence of opportunities. As part of the case study, a subjective scale was developed to assess the level of innovation. In this way, the aspect of creating opportunities was related to the innovations implemented, which translated into profits for the company. In addition to the above, the limitations and further directions of research are comprehensively described. The most important conclusion of the work is that it confirms the creation of opportunities resulting from investing in innovative solutions in enterprise management.
W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane ze sprawnym zarządzaniem przedsiębiorstwem, w szczególności aspekty związane z okazjami wynikającymi z wdrażania różnego rodzaju innowacji. Głównym celem artykułu było przedstawienie innowacji wdrożonych przez wybrane przedsiębiorstwo z branży kolejowej w celu określenia ich wpływu na możliwość prokurowania okazji. Przedstawiono dogłębną analizę literatury związanej z zagadnieniami teoretycznymi, a także opis konkretnych przypadków, dla których wdrożenie innowacji skutkowało pojawieniem się okazji, które doprowadziły do różnego rodzaju zysków przedsiębiorstwa. W pracy przedstawiono funkcjonowanie wybranego przedsiębiorstwa budownictwa kolejowego na przestrzeni kilku lat, pokazując jego przychody i zyski. Istotne było wskazanie innowacji w poszczególnych latach i ich wpływu na działalność przedsiębiorstwa, a zwłaszcza na pojawianie się okazji. Na podstawie studium przypadku opracowano subiektywną skalę oceny poziomu innowacyjności. W ten sposób aspekt tworzenia okazji został odniesiony do wdrożonych innowacji, które przełożyły się na zyski w firmie. Oprócz tego kompleksowo opisano ograniczenia i dalsze kierunki badań. Najważniejszym wnioskiem płynącym z pracy jest potwierdzenie, że kreowanie okazji wynika z inwestowania w innowacyjne rozwiązania w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem.

Opis:: This research paper is about the renewal, improvement and development of railroad transportation industry and planning for its contribution to the national and regional economic development. A theoretical exploration provided a guide for the necessary assessments. A research method based on the case study of almost all elements of the Iran railroad transportation system has been performed. The implementation of the observation by means of some indicators proves that hinders shall be removed to achieve maximum profit of the rail transport industry. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis aided to evaluate the features of the industry. The analysis revealed that the present system of the railroad transportation is unable to assist the national macro economy. The failure corresponds to scarcely investing, funding, managing, infrastructure, operating conditions, and international/regional trade limitations. However, with the help of the improvement plans the prospects for the rail transport development will be pretty satisfactory due to the strategic Geo-policy, climate, nature, and trade potentials. A linear programming for the rail transport industry (LPRTI) has been provided to suggest the ways for maximizing of the rail transport system’s profits to support the national macro economy. The outcome of this research paper assists the regional/national economies with the help of a successful railroad transportation industry everywhere in the world.

Opis:: Advances in transport technology have been shown to play a vital role in urban development over millennia. From the engineering and pavement innovations of the Roman road network to the aerospace breakthroughs that enabled jet aircraft, cities have been reshaped by the mobility changes resulting from new designs for moving people and goods. This article explores the urbanization impacts of High-Speed Rail’s introduction in China, which has built the world’s largest High-Speed Rail network in record time. Since High-Speed Rail was launched in Japan in 1964, this technology has worked to reshape intercity travel as a revolutionary transportation alternative. High-Speed Rail has developed steadily across Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland during the 1970s and 1980s. It expanded to Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Sweden in the 1990s. In the 21st century, China began developing High-Speed Rail on an unprecedented scale, and now has a national network that is longer than the totality of the rest of the world’s High-Speed Rail operations combined. China’s High-Speed Rail operation is exerting a transformative influence on urban form and function. This article synthesizes secondary research results to analyse the impacts of HSR on urbanization. These effects include population redistribution, urban spatial expansion and industrial development. We offer a typology that considers the urban effects of High-Speed Rail at three spatial levels: the station area, the urban jurisdiction, and the regional agglomeration. When organized through our typology, research findings demonstrate that High-Speed Rail influences urban population size, urban spatial layout and industrial development by changing the accessibility of cities. We highlight the processes by which High-Speed Rail ultimately affects the urbanization process for people, land use, and industrial development. However, High-Speed Rail’s impacts on urbanization are not always positive. While leveraging the development opportunity enabled by High-Speed Rail, governments around the world should also avoid potential negative impacts by drawing lessons from the experience of High-Speed Rail’s rapid deployment in China.
