Introduction: The quality of business process models is important in the area of model-based software development. To the best knowledge of the author there is no working practical model for quality assessment of BPMN 2.0 Process Diagrams, which measures the actual models and automatically interprets the measured values. Objectives: Propose a metamodel for assessing the quality of BPMN 2.0 process models and a working solution – a model for quality assessment of process models in BPMN (called MAQ) and a tool that implements MAQ. Methods: The metamodel was built upon the information presented in ISO/IEC 25010 (2011) standard. The methodology of MAQ was driven by its essential elements. Quality characteristics were selected through a systematic literature review. Quality metrics were identified through a literature review restricted by questions that every relevant literature had to affirmatively answer. Quality metrics were implemented in the tool and quality criteria were proposed based on the interpretation of the results of measuring a repository of BPMN models. Finally, quality functions were proposed and the complete MAQ was implemented in the tool. Conclusions: MAQ was preliminary evaluated for usefulness through a survey-based experiment. The results showed that the model works in most cases and is needed in general.

The topicality. The indicators of life quality are undetermined and unstandardized; the problem of determination of a single quantitative meaning of the quality of life remains unsolved. The aim of the research – to describe modern approaches to determining the quality of life and on their basis to propose a comprehensive theoretical model for the explanation of life quality phenomenon and the role of health in its formation. Methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, documentary data; methods of theoretical research (analysis, synthesis, specification, classification, historical method, comparative analysis, system and structural analysis). The results: It has been proved that the quality of life is closely related to the health of human beings and it includes physical, mental and social being, considering the beliefs, expectations and world outlook. Based on the theoretical analysis and synthesis, it proposes the multicomponent structure of the quality of life, taking into account both positive and negative aspects of life, common to people of different sex, age, and state of health. Domains, sub-domains, indicators, and variables were defined as the main components of the model. Physical Component, Mental Component, Social Activity, Material Component, Development and Identity, Environment were assigned to the components of the highest level. The health-related quality of life was separated as the single part of the model. Conclusions and recommendations for further research. The theoretical model based on the principles of consistency, hierarchy, equality, determinism, unity of internal factors and external conditions was developed.
Wskaźniki jakości życia są niejasne i nieznormalizowane; problem określenia pojedynczego, ilościowego znaczenia jakości życia pozostaje nierozstrzygnięty. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest opisanie typów współczesnego podejścia do określenia jakości życia i zaproponowanie na tej podstawie wyczerpującego modelu teoretycznego w celu wyjaśnienia zjawiska jakości życia i roli zdrowia w jej osiągnięciu. Wykorzystano następujące metody badawcze: analiza i synteza literatury naukowej i danych dokumentacyjnych, metody teoretycznych badań naukowych (analiza, synteza, specyfikacja, klasyfikacja, metoda historyczna, analiza porównawcza, analiza systemowa i strukturalna). Udowodniono, że jakość życia jest ściśle powiązana z ludzkim zdrowiem i obejmuje byt fizyczny, umysłowy i społeczny, z uwzględnieniem przekonań, oczekiwań i światopoglądu. W oparciu o analizę teoretyczną, zaproponowano wieloskładnikową strukturę jakości życia, biorąc pod uwagę zarówno pozytywne, jak i negatywne aspekty życia, popularne wśród ludzi różnej płci, różnego wieku i stanu zdrowia. Jako główne składniki tego modelu zdefiniowano domeny, poddomeny, wskaźniki oraz składowe. Wśród najważniejszych składowych wymieniono: składową fizyczną, składową umysłową, aktywność społeczną, składową materialną, rozwój i tożsamość, środowisko. Jakość życia związaną ze zdrowiem wyodrębniono jako najważniejszą część tego modelu. Opracowano model teoretyczny oparty na zasadach konsekwencji, hierarchii, równouprawnienia, determinizmu, spójności czynników wewnętrznych i warunków zewnętrznych.

The second Egyptian research reactor ETRR-2 became critical on 27th November, 1997. The National Center of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Control (NCNSRC) has the responsibility for the evaluation and assessment of safety of this reactor. Modern managements of water distribution system (WDS) need water quality models that are able to accurately predict the dynamics of water quality variations within the distribution system environment. Before water quality models can be applied to solve system problems, they should be calibrated. The purpose of this paper is to present an approach which combines both macro and detailed models to optimize the water quality parameters. For an efficient search through the solution space, we use a multi-objective genetic algorithm which allows us to identify a set of Pareto optimal solutions providing the decision maker with a complete spectrum of optimal solutions with respect to the various targets. This new combinative algorithm uses the radial basis function (RBF) metamodeling as a surrogate to be optimized for the purpose of decreasing the times of time-consuming water quality simulation and can realize rapidly the calibration of pipe wall reaction coefficients of chlorine model of large-scaled WDS.

In the age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Web and the Internet have changed significantly the way applications are developed, deployed and used. One of recent trends is modern design of web-applications based on SOA. This process is based on the composition of existing web services into a single scenario from the point of view of a particular user or client. This allows IT companies to shorten the producttime to market process. On the other hand, it raises questions about the quality of the application, trade-offs between quality factors and attributes and measurements of these. Services are usually hosted and executed in an environment managed by its provider that assures the quality attributes such as availability or throughput. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to perform quality measurements towards the creation of efficient, dependable and user-oriented Web applications. First, the process of designing service-based applications is described. Next, metrics for subsequent measurements of efficiency, dependability and usability of distributed applications are presented. These metrics will assess the efforts and trade-offs in a Web-based application development. As examples, we describe a pair of multimedia applications which we have developed in our department and executed in a cluster-based environment. One of them runs in the BeesyCluster middleware and the second one in the Kaskada platform. For these applications we present results of measurements and conclude about relations between quality attributes in the presented application development model. This knowledge can be used to reason about such relations for new similar applications and be used in rapid and quality development of the latter.

This model optimizes port hinterland intermodal refrigerated container flows , considering both cost and quality degradation, which is distinctive from the previous literature content in a way that it quantifies the influence of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission in different setting temperature on intermodal network planning. The primary contribution of this paper is that the model is beneficial not only to shippers and customers for the novel service design, but also offer , for policy-makers of the government, insights to develop inland transport infrastructures in consideration of intermodal transportation. The majority of models of multimodal system have been established with an objective of cost minimization for normal commodities. As the food quality is possible to be influenced by varying duration time required for the storage and transportation, and transportation accompanied with refrigeration producing more CO2 emission, this paper aims to address cost minimization and quality degradation minimization within the constraint of CO2 footprint. To achieve this aim, we put the quality degradation model in a mixed-integer linear programming model used for intermodal network planning for cold chain. The example of Dalian Port and Yingkou Port offer insight into trade-offs between transportation temperature and transport mode considering CO2 footprint. Furthermore, the model can offer a useful reference for other regions with the demand for different imported food, which requires an uninterrupted cold chain during the transportation and storage.

In this paper a model of service quality management based on the process approach has been presented. The first part of the article contains the theoretical framework of service quality and the process approach in management. Next, quality of service process has been presented in reference to a process-based definition in quoted literature. Finally, the outcomes of a customer questionnaire concerning the validity of particular quality attributes has been presented. The collected data in relation to service process quality stages have enabled the development of a of service quality model for process management.

Several novel techniques have been combined to improve protein structure prediction, structural refinement and quality assessment of protein models. We discuss in brief the development of four-body potentials that take into account dense packing and cooperativity of interactions of proteins, and its success. We have developed a method that uses whole protein information filtered through machine learning to score protein models based on their likeness to native structure. Here we consider electrostatic interactions and residue depth, and use these for structure prediction. These potentials were tested to be successful in CASP9 and CASP10. We have also developed a Quality Assessment technique, MQAP single, which is a quasi-single-model MQAP, by combining advantages of both “pure” single-model MQAPs and clustering MQAP s. This technique can be used in ranking and assessing the absolute global quality of single protein models. This model (Pawlowski-Kloczkowski) was ranked 3rd in Model Quality Assessment in CASP 10. Consideration of protein flexibility and its fluctuation dynamics improves protein structure prediction and leads to better refinement of computational models of proteins. Here we also discuss how Anisotropic Network Model (ANM) of protein fluctuation dynamics and Go-like model of energy score can be used for novel protein structure refinement.

The test with a roughness application on the laminar aerofoil has been conducted in the N-3 trisonic wind tunnel of the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw. The main goal of tests was to investigate the influence of the boundary layer transition triggers on a laminar profile aerodynamic characteristic. For baseline configuration, the natural transition was applied. As a local roughness on the upper model surface, the carborundum strips with different heights were applied. These were positioned on the upper model surface in the front of the shock position occurrence. The Mach number during test was equal Ma = 0.7 and Reynolds number was about 2.85·106 . Tests have been conducted for different model incidence in range 0º-7º. Current article refers partially to the previous study, where aerofoil model with lower quality of surface had been tested. Investigation results from previous work indicated that some of transition positions improved an aerodynamic characteristic by reducing the drag coefficient value and decreasing shock wave unsteadiness in the transonic regime. However, current article indicates that beneficial effects in respect to the baseline configuration are also strictly dependent on the model quality and turbulent triggers size. Improved surface quality of the laminar aerofoil model affected on aerodynamic characteristics with and without turbulent triggers. Resultant aerodynamic coefficients of all tested cases i.e. drag, lift and lift to drag ratio were compared.

Bardzo ważnym elementem procesu modelowania statystycznego jest etap oceny jakości zbudowanego modelu. W zależności od wykorzystanej metody istnieje wiele różnych podejść do pomiaru jakości modelu. Pomiar ten może skupiać się na dopasowaniu do danych empirycznych albo może przede wszystkim uwzględniać zdolności prognostyczne modelu. Mierniki mogą być absolutne albo względne. Zestaw mierników jakości modelu obejmuje liczną grupę propozycji, z których analityk musi wybrać najodpowiedniejszy do danej sytuacji. W artykule przedstawiono zestawienie mierników jakości modelu oraz sugestię używania innych mierników jakości na etapie wyboru wariantu modelu oraz na etapie oceny jakości modelu końcowego.
Assessing the quality of a statistical model is very important, since it is crucial for the utility of the modelling process’ outcome. There are many different ways of measuring statistical models’ quality. Some of the measures represent a “goodness of fit” approach, some are “prediction ability” orientated. Among them there are absolute and relative measures. It is a researcher’s decision, which model quality measure is the most adequate for the given task. In the paper we present an overview of statistical models’ quality measures and a suggestion of using different ones during the model type selection stage and the stage of assessing the quality of the final model.

This article presents a summary of the scientific view of the quality of health care facilities in dimensions reflecting the quality of certain device management. The main objective is to construct an alternative model that will reflect the quality of the health care device using the minimum inputs. The authors have selected inputs from four areas to evaluate the quality. The study has selected the area of marketing-management to the recommendations of the patient, from the field of crisis management in the dimension of preventive activity with the output of the number of extraordinary events. The third area captures the quality of the services provided as a prerequisite for minimizing sanctions and of course, the area of financial management has not been omitted, and so the model also includes the variable ability to generate own resources. The study can be characterized as secondary since the data were collected from the INEKO databases and the Health Care Surveillance Office with a sample of 65 health care facilities in the territory of Slovakia during the period of 2009-2016. The before mentioned dependent variables at the outputs of the correlation analysis significantly approximated all independent variables. If dependent variables were to be considered separately, the “recommending the hospital” variable correlated with more than 50% of the independent variables. Variable of sanctions is more than 30% and the variable of the ability to generate own resources is more than 20% of independent variables. Significant correlation with the variable of extraordinary events has occurred in almost 20% of cases. Many other health care quality-evaluating models have a common feature, which is cumbersome and complex, on contrary, the proposed model is easy to apply, and it is useful when “fast” evaluation is needed.
W artykule przedstawiono podsumowanie naukowego poglądu na jakość placówek służby zdrowia w wymiarach odzwierciedlających jakość zarządzania. Głównym celem było stworzenie alternatywnego modelu, który odzwierciedlałby jakość urządzeń medycznych przy użyciu jak najmniejszej ilości danych wejściowych, w celu oceny jakości wybraliśmy dane wejściowe z czterech obszarów. Z obszaru zarządzania marketingowego do obszaru zaleceń pacjenta, z obszaru zarządzania kryzysowego w wymiarze działania profilaktycznego z wynikiem zdarzeń nadzwyczajnych. Trzeci obszar określa jakość świadczonych usług. Model obejmuje również zmienną zdolność do generowania własnych zasobów. Przeprowadzone badania scharakteryzować można jako wtórne, zebrane zostały z baz danych INEKO i Urzędu Nadzoru Opieki Zdrowotnej w próbie 65 zakładów opieki zdrowotnej na terenie Słowacji w latach 2009-2016. Wspomniane wcześniej zmienne zależne na wyjściu analizy korelacji znacznie przybliżyły wszystkie zmienne niezależne. Jeżeli zmienne zależne rozpatrywano by osobno, zmienna "polecanie szpitala" korelowałaby z ponad 50% zmiennych niezależnych, zmienna sankcji korelowałaby z ponad 30%, a zmienna zdolność do generowania własnych zasobów z ponad 20% zmiennych niezależnych. Istotna korelacja ze zmienną zdarzeń nadzwyczajnych wystąpiła w prawie 20% przypadków. Wiele innych modeli oceny jakości opieki zdrowotnej ma wspólną cechę, są skomplikowane, a przez to trudne do praktycznego wykorzystania, nasz model w przeciwieństwie do pozostałych jest łatwy do zastosowania i przydatny, gdy potrzebna jest "szybka" ocena.

Purpose: Comparison of the computed characteristics and physiological measurement of ion transport through transmembrane proteins could be a useful method to assess the quality of protein structures. Simulations of ion transport should be detailed but also time-efficient. Methods: The most accurate method could be Molecular Dynamics (MD), which is very time-consuming, hence is not used for this purpose. The model which includes ion-ion interactions and reduces the simulation time by excluding water, protein and lipid molecules is Brownian Dynamics (BD). In this paper a new computer program for BD simulation of the ion transport is presented. We evaluate two methods for calculating the pore accessibility (round and irregular shape) and two representations of ion sizes (van der Waals diameter and one voxel). Results: Ion Move Brownian Dynamics (IMBD) was tested with two nanopores: alpha-hemolysin and potassium channel KcsA. In both cases during the simulation an ion passed through the pore in less than 32 ns. Although two types of ions were in solution (potassium and chloride), only ions which agreed with the selectivity properties of the channels passed through the pores. Conclusions: IMBD is a new tool for the ion transport modelling, which can be used in the simulations of wide and narrow pores.

A paradox is observed in the state of art of the project team quality in project management. All specialists recognize the exceptional importance of the parameter “quality” for the final result of the project. On the one hand, one can easily find definitions of project quality, quality of product 16 of the project, quality of the project management processes, and so on. On the other hand, a huge majority of bibliographical sources consider the project team functioning, as a sine qua non condition of the project success. The notion “Scrum Team Quality” appears seldom in the literature. In this paper an approach is proposed to fill in this gap. Design/methodology/approach: In this paper an approach is proposed, by the proposal of the model, based on fuzzy numbers, which defines the Scrum Team Quality, its measure, and the processes of such quality management. The process of Scrum Team Quality Management building consists of: Scrum Team Quality definition, methods of such quality measurement, and three phases of Scrum Team members selection: processes of MBTI – first pre-selection, Belbin – second pre-selection, and Scrum Team Quality standards complying as a final selection of the Scrum Team, insuring its optimal content. Findings: The appropriate model of Scrum Team quality management using fuzzy numbers is developed. Originality/value: The originality of the paper consists in: defining the Scrum Team management quality, the manner of its measurement using fuzzy numbers, and exemplary simulations of Scrum Team members selection using Belbin method, equipped with fuzzy numbers apparatus.

This paper deals with selected problems connected with transport means operation quality. Basic concepts concerning the problems of quality have been defined, and general characteristics of the elaborated methodology have been made. Description of rules on the basis of which the method was elaborated, has been presented. An algorithm of mathematical model determination has been created and a model for quality assessment of the system operation has been built. This model is supposed to serve as a general abstract form for operation quality assessment of a wide class of real transport systems different in terms of their features, structure and operation. The further part of the paper deals with possibilities of quality control in order to provide the desired level of the transport system operation quality which will be an effect of the carried out research, especially, the results, obtained on the basis of the proposed assessment method. The presented methodology can be found to be a universal tool for diagnostic, prognostic processes, and above all, for optimization and rational control ofcomplex systems of technical object using, especially transport ones through assessment of their states, determined on the basis of changes of significant features characteristic for the system.

In this paper there has been developed a method for the transport system operation quality assessment. The concept of the transport system quality has been defined. There has also been described the proposed evaluation method and the process of an assessment model construction. Basic features of the metrical space have been characterized and a proposition o f a system operation quality evaluation metrics has been presented. Also, studies concerning the choice of assessment criteria and distinction of the most signiflcant set of features accepted for the resultant model of the examined transport system operation quality, have been presented. It should be emphasized that using the presented method it is possible to make an assessment of the same system, in different times, with the assumption that the rating is performed on the basis of homogenous criteria, and with the use of a set of the same features, distinguished for the deser iption of the research object.
