    Opis:
    The article discusses issues related to project value and factors affecting the creation of project value. Based on in-depth literature analysis, approaches to defining project value and project value management are presented. The results of empirical research based on the developed methodology and selected research instruments used in the study of 80 organizations were presented. The analysis of research results leads to the conclusion that the value of the project is influenced by a lot of internal and external determinants. A diagnosis of the level of determinants in the organization allows project managers to correctly and gradually plan the value of the project and to efficiently and effectively implement individual phases of project value management, as well as make decisions regarding raising this value in the future.
    W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane z wartością projektu oraz z czynnikami wpływającymi na tworzenie wartości projektu. Na podstawie pogłębionej analizy literatury przedstawiono podejścia do definiowania wartości projektu oraz zarządzania wartością projektu. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych na podstawie opracowanej metodyki oraz dobranych instrumentów badawczych wykorzystanych w badaniu 80 organizacji. Analiza wyników badań prowadzi do stwierdzenia, że na wartość projektu ma wpływ bardzo wiele determinant wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych. Diagnoza poziomu występujących determinant w organizacji pozwala kierownikom projektu prawidłowo i rzetelnie zaplanować wartość projektu oraz sprawnie i efektywnie realizować poszczególne fazy zarządzania wartością projektu, a także podejmować decyzje w zakresie podnoszenia tej wartości w przyszłości.

    The paper provides an alternative to expected value approach based on preference theory. Preference theory, taking into account investors' attitude towards risk, enables them to utilize a relatively consistent measure of valuation across a broad range of risky project. The theory concepts apply particularly well to mineral project evaluation and are especially useful for Monte Carlo simulation outcomes - especially for project valuation and decision-making purposes.
    Praca przedstawia alternatywną, w stosunku do kryterium wartości oczekiwanej, metodologię wyceny projektów, opartą na teorii preferencji. Teoria ta, uwzględniając skłonność inwestora do podejmowania ryzyka, dostarcza relatywnie spójnego miernika wyceny, co ma szczególne znaczenie w przypadku konieczności wyboru spośród różnych możliwości inwestycyjnych. Reguły teorii znajdują szczególne zastosowanie w procesach decyzyjnych oraz wyceny górniczych projektów inwestycyjnych, zwłaszcza wtedy, gdy inwestor ma do dyspozycji wyniki symulacji Monte Carlo.

    Earned Value is a well-known project management tool that uses information on cost, schedule and work performance to establish the current status of the project. By means of a few simple rates, it allows the manager to extrapolate current trends to predict their likely final effect. The method is based on a simpli-fied model of a project, but proved to be useful in practice of cost control. It is being developed to account better for schedule and time aspects. The paper outlines the basic principles of the method and its recent extension, the Earned Schedule method, and, with help of a few examples, investigates into assumptions that affect their diagnostic and predictive accuracy.

    This paper draws from research carried out as part of the EU-funded project ‘EFORWOOD-IP: Tools for Sustainability Impact Assessment of the European Forestry-Wood Chain’. The paper reports on a literature review to develop a generic template of social and cultural values and indicators associated with forests in Europe, and research to develop ‘forest recreational use’ as an indicator to assess the social impacts of changes in forest management as part of European impact assessment procedures.

    This paper deals with an analysis of causes that lead to the change in price (value of construction costs) of road infrastructure projects in selected phases of the building structure life-cycle, more specifically procurement and construction phases, with the aim to refine the price estimation in the Estimated Value determination phase. The sample of regional road construction projects in the South Moravian Region (Czech Republic) documentation forms the basis for the research. The methodological procedure is aimed at monitoring changes in the value of construction costs during the preparation and implementation phase of the construction. Estimated values, contract prices and actual prices of individual projects are compared to determine them and the reasons for their differences are discussed. The changes (decrease) in the values of construction costs determined by estimated value and contract price show the strong influence of the construction market and the interest of construction companies in the implementation of public works contracts in the field of road infrastructure projects. The relative differences range up to 47%. The changes (increase) in construction costs determined by contract price and actual price are much lower, up to 13%, and result from specific situations during the implementation of the construction, for which subsoil bearing capacity problems and material changes were determined as the most significant.

    The exploration of mineral resources is an area of strategic importance for the pace of further development of all industries. The results of companies deciding to carry out exploration work depend on further investments of mining companies, i.e. the entities purchasing full deposit documentation. Being at the beginning of the entire mining process, junior mines assume a high risk related to investments enabling the commencement of works without providing high guarantees of the project’s success. Companies running these types of projects must seek funding in a variety of ways. One of these is to try to raise capital from the stock trading markets. However, the specificity of junior companies does not allow them to start on the main trading floors, hence the decision to enter alternative markets. In considering the broader context of the activities of junior mines, research was conducted on companies listed on the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM). In the first part, this concerned the market characteristics – the market value added values were determined for selected ranges of market capitalization. In the second part, which is a statistical study, factors that may affect their market value was checked. The analysis covered both traditional value drivers – related to revenues, the demand for net working capital, investment expenses and the cost of equity – and their supplementation with selected values of financial statements. The result of the analysis is a regression equation indicating the factors that have a statistically significant impact on the market value of junior mines listed on AIM London.
    Eksploracja surowców mineralnych to obszar o strategicznym znaczeniu dla tempa dalszego rozwoju wszystkich gałęzi przemysłu. Od rezultatów firm decydujących się na prowadzenie prac poszukiwawczych zależą dalsze inwestycje spółek wydobywczych – czyli podmiotów kupujących pełną dokumentację złoża. Będąc na początku całego procesu wydobywczego spółki eksploracyjne biorą na siebie duże ryzyko związane z inwestycjami umożliwiającymi rozpoczęcie prac, nie dając jednocześnie wysokich gwarancji sukcesu projektu. Mając na uwadze szerszy kontekst działalności spółek eksploracyjnych przeprowadzono badania firm notowanych na londyńskiej giełdzie alternatywnej (AIM). W pierwszej części dotyczącej charakterystyki rynku wyznaczono wartości Market Value Added dla wybranych przedziałów kapitalizacji rynkowej. W drugiej części, mającej charakter badań statystycznych sprawdzono jakie czynniki mogą wpływać na ich wartość rynkową. Analiza objęła zarówno tradycyjne drivery wartości – związane z przychodami, zapotrzebowaniem na kąpiel obrotowy netto, wydatkami inwestycyjnymi i kosztem kapitałów własnych – oraz ich uzupełnienie o wybrane wartości sprawozdań finansowych. Rezultatem analizy jest równanie regresji wskazujące na czynniki, które w sposób istotny statystycznie wpływają na wartość rynkową spółek junior mines, notowanych na AIM London.

    Although one of the education’s major goals is to find efficient ways to integrate web-based technologies with the traditional teaching methods applied in teaching-learning process, little research has been made in this area. The article provides the study of the educational value of Web Quests in teaching foreign languages at universities, their role in fostering students’ basic competencies and enhancing their critical thinking. Presented is a Web Quest created by first-year students of Vinnytsia Institute of Economics of Ternopil National Economic University with its further detailed description. Provided are some results of the experiment, which prove the didactic efficiency of Web Quests, integrated with other teaching methods, for improving students’ autonomous learning skills.

    Opis:
    Inaccurate estimation in highway projects represents a major problem facing planners and estimators, especially when data and information about the projects are not available, and therefore the need to use modern technologies that addresses the problem of inaccuracy of estimation arises. The current methods and techniques used to estimate earned value indexes in Iraq are weak and inefficient. In addition, there is a need to adopt new and advanced technologies to estimate earned value indexes that are fast, accurate and flexible to use. The main objective of this research is to use an advanced method known as artificial neural networks to estimate the TSPI of highway buildings. The application of artificial neural networks as a new digital technology in the construction industrial in Republic of Iraq is absolutely necessary to ensure successful project management. One model built to predict the TCSPI of highway projects. In this current study, artificial neural network model were used to model the process of estimating earned value indexes, and several cases related to the construction of artificial neural networks have been studied, including network architecture and internal factors and the extent of their impact on the performance of artificial neural network models. Easy equation was developed to calculate that TSPI. It was found that these networks have the ability to predict the TSPI of highway projects with a very outstanding saucepan of reliability (97.00%), and the accounting coefficients (R) (95.43%).
