    Activity of manufacturing companies is based on managing the resources and relations with contractors and customers. In this last case marketing is important. Without the respectively selected marketing instruments and elaborated schemes and standards of conduct, companies would not have a chance for survival in the market economy. Production of goods is not done with the sole purpose of gaining company’s profits, but it is simultaneously oriented on satisfaction of customers needs, and according to this one cannot exist without another. The purpose of this papers is rationalization of knowledge about marketing in manufacturing companies in the field of sustained growth [1].

    With aid of ‘logistics’ term, we can assume that logistics of production is oriented on planning, organizing, leading and controlling the effective flow of materials and other cooperative elements required in the manufacturing process and respective information, beginning with supply warehouses, through all intermediary production facilities, and ending with warehouses for finished goods and the sales. According to such description of production logistics we can assume, that it does not cope with sole production in terms of performed technological tasks, but is concentrated on the organization of production system in terms of establishing conditions and performance of undisturbed and optimal flow for materials through all production processes. Managing the flow for materials in the production process is generally dependant from manufacturing profile, as well as from the level of organization and concept for company’s management. Production processes are dependant from type of manufacturing organization, what is understood as the level of specialization in the manufacturing cells and related level of stability in the manufacturing process. The purpose of this papers is description of supply chain management as the element of logistics and its functioning in logistic company.

    The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of using the FMEA method in the traditional and modern versions for a small company producing plastic toys. It also identified the production process of a plastic instrument toy selected for analysis by dividing operations into adding and not adding value, in accordance with the Lean concept. Through the FMEA sheets constructed and presented in this work in both versions of this method, the causes and effects of defects in the technological operations of the production process of the test subject were presented. A risk analysis was carried out using assessments available for the traditional and new versions, and preventive and detective actions were proposed. The result of the work was a comparison of risk indicators characteristic for both versions of the FMEA method and an assessment of the effectiveness of this method in the analysed enterprise. Emphasis was placed on the human factor in the research. Both the division of operations into adding and not adding value, as well as the FMEA method, were useful for further optimization and process improvement activities.

    Background: In a rapidly changing competitive environment and increasing customer expectations, an efficient supply chain is a very important success factor. What should be avoided and what should be considered during planning and supply chain management? Is it possible to apply the same solutions to each business model (B2B/ B2C)? The following article presents the perspective of manufacturing companies. In the current situation there is less and less space for companies operating according to only one model. Each company is considering strategies: low profit in B2B models, which due to greater predictability of demand gives lower risk of production planning and omni-channel in B2C models, which by definition are more profitable, but are associated with a higher risk of demand change. The article presents problems and challenges during supply chain management in manufacturing companies that use both business models in the era of e-commerce market. Methods: Based on the available literature, the problems of supply chain management in B2B and B2C relations are presented. The frequency of their occurrence was surveyed and the level of risk of negative impact on the company and its environment was presented. Results: The survey identified the challenges and problems that companies face when managing their supply chains, and those that pose the highest and lowest risks. Conclusions: This article presents the concept of identification of problems and challenges faced by manufacturing companies and models of actions to be applied in order to minimize their effects. The article is two-dimensional, showing a perspective for simple supply chains (B2B) and omni-channel chains (B2C).
    Wstęp: W szybko zmieniającym się konkurencyjnym otoczeniu na tle rosnących oczekiwaniach klientów, bardzo ważnym czynnikiem sukcesu jest sprawny łańcuch dostaw. Czego należy unikać i co należy wziąć pod uwagę podczas planowania i zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw? Czy możliwe jest zastosowanie tych samych rozwiązań do każdego modelu biznesowego (B2B/ B2C)? Poniższy artykuł przedstawia perspektywę firm produkcyjnych. W obecnej sytuacji jest coraz mniej miejsca dla firm działających według tylko jednego modelu. Każda firma rozważa strategie: niski zysk w modelach B2B, który ze względu na większą przewidywalność popytu daje mniejsze ryzyko planowania produkcji oraz system multi-kanałowy w modelach B2C, które z definicji są bardziej opłacalne, ale wiążą się z wyższym ryzykiem zmiany popytu. W artykule przedstawiono problemy i wyzwania związane z zarządzaniem łańcuchem dostaw w firmach produkcyjnych, które wykorzystują oba modele biznesowe w dobie rynku e-commerce. Metody: Na podstawie dostępnej literatury przedstawiono problemy zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw w relacjach B2B i B2C. Zbadano częstotliwość ich występowania oraz przedstawiono poziom negatywnego wpływu na firmę i jej otoczenie. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą ankietową na próbce 65 managerów wyższego i średniego szczebla z działów zarządzania łańcuchami dostaw w polskich przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych. Wyniki: W badaniu zidentyfikowano wyzwania i problemy, przed którymi stoją firmy zarządzające swoimi łańcuchami dostaw. Przedstawia, które problemy wykazują najwyższy i najniższy poziom ryzyka. Wnioski: W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję identyfikacji problemów i wyzwań stojących przed firmami produkcyjnymi. Dwuwymiarowość artykułu pozwala zademonstrować perspektywę prostych łańcuchów dostaw (B2B) i łańcuchów wielokanałowych (B2C).

    This article presents evaluation of effi ciency of the production scale of Polish milk processing companies in 1999–2010 performed basing on non-parametric methods. The non-parametric approach stemmed from linear programming method known as the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The study involving a sample of 743 objects revealed increasing returns to scale observable in the Polish dairy sector. Further concentration of the dairy sector in Poland should lead to the better results of dairies. This analysis confi rmed earlier conclusions of relevant literature.
    W artykule, bazując na metodzie nieparametrycznej, dokonano oceny efektywności skali produkcji polskich przedsiębiorstw przetwórstwa mleka w latach 1999–2010. Podejście nieparametryczne bazowało na metodzie programowania liniowego określanej jako metoda Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Przeprowadzone badania na próbie 743 obiektów wskazały na występowanie rosnących korzyści skali w polskim sektorze mleczarskim. Dalsza konsolidacja polskich przedsiębiorstw przetwórstwa mleka powinna zatem sprzyjać poprawie efektywności tych podmiotów. Badania te potwierdzają wcześniejsze wskazania literatury.

    Management of production processes in modern enterprises is a very complex issue. Efficient and effective functioning of enterprises is possible through optimization and automation of production processes. The proper organization of production processes and the ability to adapt to continuous changes in the business environment provide a competitive edge for a company. This article presents the optimization of the manufacturing process execution through the implementation of the Manufacturing Execution System in the audited company and the effects of changes as well as resulting benefits. The system of the MES class implemented in the company has contributed to improvement of many areas of company's operations.
    Zarządzanie procesami produkcyjnymi w nowoczesnych przedsiębiorstwach jest złożonym zagadnieniem. Sprawne i efektywne funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw jest możliwe dzięki optymalizacji i automatyzacji procesów produkcyjnych. Odpowiednia organizacja procesów produkcyjnych i umiejętność dostosowania się do ciągłych zmian w środowisku biznesowym zapewnia przewagę konkurencyjną dla firmy. W artykule przedstawiono optymalizację procesu produkcyjnego poprzez wdrożenie Systemu Zarządzania Produkcją w firmie oraz określono efekty zmian, także wynikające z nich korzyści. System klasy MES wdrożony w firmie przyczynił się do poprawy wielu obszarów jej działania.

    Industry 4.0 is a designation for the automation of production and labour market changes that this will bring. It is based on the boom of digitization, robotization and automation. The Industry 4.0 concept brings the benefits of increasing productivity, reducing costs and making mistakes they result from the involvement of more sophisticated machines in all company processes. The aim of this article is to present the ongoing fourth Industrial revolution (Industry 4.0.) and the impact of innovations in the company. Implementation of innovations are presented, innovation cycle itself and innovations effect on companies. Industry 4.0 makes full use of emerging technologies and rapid development of machines and tools to cope with global challenges in order to improve industry levels. Also, concepts of innovation and digitization are currently a central task for future competitiveness. Therefore, companies are establishing brand new departments focused on innovations in Industry 4.0. Industry 4.0 and digital transformation bring new opportunities in the areas of customer search, improving product offerings, and new opportunities for creating and delivering value, thus opening up new ways to create profit. First part theoretically describes various approaches to this problematic, description of four industrial revolutions and Industry 4.0. itself. Next implementation of innovations is presented, innovation cycle itself and innovations effect on companies. The last part of the article covers innovations in context of Industry 4.0. (both methods and technology) within the automotive industry. Main impact of the work is that this article puts in correlation both importance of the ongoing fourth industrial revolution with innovations in the company. It is very interesting, that these innovations with modern technologies help companies to operate more effectively.

    Business management is a continuous decision-making process. It is difficult to imagine a company that does not use forecasting techniques. Even small enterprises without relevant forecasting departments more or less consciously anticipate future events, forecasting the volume of production and setting directions for development. Today’s production companies must quickly adapt to changing customer requirements, implementing structural and technological changes and delivering projects related to the production of new products. Under the dynamically changing conditions, the functioning and effective management of modern enterprises depend on futureoriented information. This increases the validity of forecasting. This article aimed to identify forecasting methods and areas of their use in production engineering. The publications on this subject were reviewed in the Scopus database, using the time frame from January 1970 to June 2018. An original classification of research subareas was created using VOS viewer software, and then, a bibliometric map was developed to visualise the results of the word coexistence analysis. The analysis of the co-occurrence and co-classification of words made it possible to indicate research subareas of forecasting in production engineering and related emerging research areas and issues.

    This paper presents the results of studies of the relationship between level of advancement of IT solutions used in Polish enterprises of food processing and the company's financial situation, logistic costs, position on the market against the sector, and quality of IT support of logistics. The results showed no significant correlation between IT solutions advancement level and financial situation, and logistic costs. These results corresponds with the productivity paradox signaled in the literature. However, there was an average correlations between the IT solutions advancement level and position on the market against the sector, and quality of IT support of logistics. The studies used the results of a survey conducted in 2009-2011 among Polish food processing sector enterprises.

    Optymalizacja procesu produkcji ma wpływ na całość funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa i przyczynia się do uzyskania wielu korzyści. Dzięki optymalizacji procesów produkcyjnych przedsiębiorstwa są w stanie zwiększyć swoją wydajność, która ma ogromne znaczenie na konkurencyjnym rynku. Artykuł przedstawia propozycje możliwości zwiększenia wydajności badanego przedsiębiorstwa poprzez optymalizację procesu produkcji, uwzględniając zdiagnozowane problemy funkcjonalne.

    Integrated monitoring system for discrete manufacturing processes is presented in the paper. The multilayer hardware and software reference model was developed. Original research are an answer for industry needs of the integration of information flow in production process. Reference model corresponds with proposed data model based on multilayer data tree allowing to describe orders, products, processes and save monitoring data. Elaborated models were implemented in the integrated monitoring system demonstrator developed in the project. It was built on the base of multiagent technology to assure high flexibility and openness on applying intelligent algorithms for data processing. Currently on the base of achieved experience an application integrated monitoring system for real production system is developed. In the article the main problems of monitoring integration are presented, including specificity of discrete production, data processing and future application of Cyber-Physical-Systems. Development of manufacturing systems is based more and more on taking an advantage of applying intelligent solutions into machine and production process control and monitoring. Connection of technical systems, machine tools and manufacturing processes monitoring with advanced information processing seems to be one of the most important areas of near future development. It will play important role in efficient operation and competitiveness of the whole production system. It is also important area of applying in the future CyberPhysical-Systems that can radically improve functionally of monitoring systems and reduce the cost of its implementation.

    Opis:
    Technical equipment and machinery used in the production halls of companies largely determine work safety. Ensuring efficient production can be achieved by exercising control over the technical condition of machines and industrial equipment or the gradual modernization of the machinery in the continuous improvement process. A very important factor, due to which it is possible to improve actions of the effective production continuity maintenance, is the involvement of employees, both maintenance staff and production operators. The article presents the evaluation of the technical and organizational activities in the production department of the company. It also introduces results obtained from the quantitative survey among employees of the selected production line.
    Urządzenia techniczne oraz maszyny wykorzystywane w halach produkcyjnych przedsiębiorstw w dużym stopniu decydują o bezpieczeństwie pracy. Zapewnienie sprawnej produkcji uzyskać można poprzez sprawowanie kontroli nad stanem technicznym maszyn i urządzeń przemysłowych czy też sukcesywną modernizację parku maszynowego w ramach procesu ciągłego doskonalenia. Bardzo ważnym czynnikiem dla usprawnienia działań efektywnego utrzymania ciągłości produkcyjnej jest zaangażowanie pracowników, zarówno służb utrzymania ruchu, jak i samych operatorów produkcji. Artykuł przedstawia ocenę stanu technicznego i działań organizacyjnych w dziale produkcyjnym badanego przedsiębiorstwa oraz prezentację uzyskanych wyników badań ilościowych z przeprowadzonej ankiety wśród pracowników wybranej linii produkcyjnej.

    Opis:
    Internal transport is one of the areas of business functioning directly related to the area of production. The work carried out analyzes data on one of the areas of internal transport functioning in the company, which included the transport of load units between individual buildings in the plant, including the time required for the means of transport to load and unload the load units. The examples presented show that very often the loading or unloading process could take much less time than it actually is, and that the amount of transported units per day would be much higher without the need for changes in the means of transport or their parameters through process integration.
    Transport wewnętrzny jest jednym z obszarów funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa bezpośrednio związanym z obszarem produkcji. W pracy przeprowadzono analizę danych dotyczących jednego z obszarów funkcjonowania transportu wewnętrznego w firmie obejmującego transport jednostek ładunkowych pomiędzy poszczególnymi budynkami w zakładzie z uwzględnieniem czasu oczekiwania środka transportu na załadunek oraz rozładunek jednostek ładunkowych. Zaprezentowane przykłady pokazują, że bardzo często proces załadunku lub rozładunku mógłby trwać o wiele krócej niż trwa w rzeczywistości, a ilość transportowanych dziennie jednostek ładunkowych byłaby znacznie większa bez konieczności zmian w ilości środków transportu lub ich parametrach poprzez integrację procesów.

    Opis:
    The article describes the division and functions of internal transport in production logistics and internal transport systems. Its characteristics and main assumptions were presented. An internal transport analysis of the selected manufacturing company was performed. Selected results of the research in the production company were presented using the PFMEA method. Through the use of PFMEA analysis, the causes of the errors encountered during transport in the company were identified and corrective measures proposed, so that the transport system fulfills its role, does not interfere with the production process, and ensures safe movement of cargo.
    W artykule opisano podział i funkcje transportu wewnętrznego w logistyce produkcji oraz systemy transportu wewnętrznego. Dokonano jego charakterystyki i przedstawiono główne założenia. Dokonano analizy transportu wewnętrznego wybranego przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego. Zaprezentowano wybrane wyniki badań w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym wykorzystując między innymi metodę PFMEA. Poprzez zastosowanie analizy PFMEA zidentyfikowano przyczyny błędów występujących podczas transportu w przedsiębiorstwie oraz zaproponowano działania korygujące, tak aby system transportu spełniał swoją rolę, nie zakłócał procesu produkcji, jak również zapewniał bezpieczne przemieszczanie ładunków.
