Opis:
Kinetic investigations for ozone conversion on three different series of zinc oxide catalysts, containing pure ZnO and doped with Mn or Cu one with dopant content less than 1 wt.% were carried out. The different samples were obtained from carbonate, nitrate and acetate precursors. The as prepared catalysts were characterized by AAS, XRD, IR, EPR and BET methods. The mean size of the crystallites determined by XRD data is in the range 27÷68 nm. The presence of Mn2+ and Cu2+ ions into the ZnO matrix was established by EPR. The ozone decomposition was investigated for 30÷75°C temperature range. The zinc carbonate precursor samples show highest activity, while the nitrate precursor ones show lowest activity toward reaction decomposition of ozone in the whole temperature range. At 75°C two of the catalyst, obtained from carbonate precursor - ZnO and CuZnO show 100% conversion.

Opis:
Many oxides are applied as a catalysts for commercially important processes. Recently, decomposition of nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen have became a topic of vital interest for catalytic chemistry. Two possible ways of deN2O reaction, low temperature and high-temperature, can be distinguished. Promising results were obtained for spinel oxides which contained cobalt. Because of cationic redox route, triggered by electron transfer, of N2O decomposition over these oxides, investigation of their electronic properties was justifi ed. Th erefore the work function measurements, using Kelvin method were carried out. Moreover in-situ monitoring of processes occurred at catalyst’s surface was performed using mass spectrometry.

Opis:
A series of Mn-doped CeO2-CuO catalyst (CeO2-MnOx-CuO) (Ce/Mn molar ratio of 0.5, 1.0 2.0 and 3.0) were prepared using co-precipitation method for the selective oxidation of CO in automobile engine exhaust. The content of copper was 5.0 wt. % in each sample. Catalysts were installed on the automobile engine exhaust and CO amount was recorded with help of CO sensor, with and without the catalyst. The catalytic converter efficiency was estimated for each catalyst through efficiency formula. It was observed that Ce/Mn catalyst with a molar ratio of 2.0 shows the maximum efficiency (88.35%). Stability of conversion process was analyzed by plotting the CO amount with respect to time. The catalyst with Ce/Mn molar ratio of 2.0 performed the most streamline conversion process with least deviations.

Opis:
The iron catalyst precursor promoted with Al2O3, CaO, and Li2O was obtained applying the fusing method. Lithium oxide forms two phases in this iron catalyst: a chemical compound with iron oxide (Li2Fe3O4) and a solid solution with magnetite. The catalyst promoted with lithium oxide was not fully reduced at 773 K, while the catalyst containing potassium was easily reducible at the same conditions. After reduction at 873 K the activity of the catalyst promoted with lithium oxide was 41% higher per surface than the activity of the catalyst promoted with potassium oxide. The concentration of free active sites on the surface of the catalyst containing lithium oxide after full reduction was greater than the concentration of free active sites on the surface of the catalyst promoted with potassium oxide.

Opis:
FeCrAl is comprised essentially of Fe, Cr, Al and generally considered as metallic substrates for catalyst support because of its advantage in the high-temperature corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, and ductility. Oxidation film and its adhesion on FeCrAl surface with aluminum are important for catalyst life. Therefore various appropriate surface treatments such as thermal oxidation, Sol, PVD, CVD has studied. In this research, PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) process was applied to form the aluminum oxide on FeCrAl surface, and the formed oxide particle according to process conditions such as electric energy and oxidation time were investigated. Microstructure and aluminum oxide particle on FeCrAl surface after PEO process was observed by FE-SEM and EDS with element mapping analysis. The study presents possibility of aluminum oxide formation by electro-chemical coating process without any pretreatment of FeCrAl.
