Modern industry expectations in terms of milling operations often demand the milling of the flexible details by using slender ball-end tools. This is a difficult task because of possible vibration occurrence. Due to existence of certain conditions (small depths of cutting, regeneration phenomena), cutting process may become unstable and self-excited chatter vibration may appear. Frequency of the chatter vibration is close to dominant natural frequency of the workpiece or the tool. One of the methods of chatter vibration avoidance is matching the spindle speed to the optimum phase shift between subsequent cutting edges passes (i.e. the Liao-Young condition). However, the set of optimum spindle speeds from the point of view of vibration reduction may be not optimum one from other points of view. For example milling efficiency or machine tool capabilities cannot be assured. This article presents the idea of a workpiece holder with adjustable stiffness and discusses a new variant of its realization. In the holder, milling process is performed at constant spindle speed and feed speed. In order to avoid vibration the holder stiffness is modified. Stiffness changes modify natural frequencies of the workpiece and thus it is possible to modify dynamic properties of the workpiece in such a way that arbitrary chosen, constant spindle speed will be optimum, due to the Liao-Young condition performance. Calculation of the optimum stiffness is performed before milling, based on the workpieces modal identification results and the finite element model simulations.

Opis:
The modulus optimum (MO) criterion can be used for analytical design of the PID controller for linear systems with dominant dead time. However, although the method usually gives fast and non-oscillating closed-loop responses, in the case of large dead time the stability margin gets reduced and even non-stable behavior can be observed. In this case a correction of the settings is needed to preserve the stability margin. We describe and compare two methods of design of the PID controller based on the MO criterion that for the stable first-order systems with dead time preserve the stability margin, trying to keep maximum of the performance of the original MO settings.

Opis:
Chemical synthesis of nucleotide chains is very erroneous for long sequences. Often a gene is constructed from short fragments joined with the use of complementary helper chains. The number of possible potential solutions for a long gene synthesis is very large, therefore a fast automated search is required. In the presented approach a modified method of long DNA construction is proposed. A computer program that searches for an optimal solution in the space of potential synthesis methods has been developed. This software uses an evolutionary algorithm for global optimization and a hillclimbing algorithm for local optimization. The long DNA construction method was tested on random sequences. The results are very promising. The next step is to perform experiments in a biotechnological wet laboratory involving DNA strand synthesis using the method designed by the presented software.

Characteristic that is hard to obtain in the calculation in product development. The sensory characteristic is often had such as sound quality, visual sensation and tactile sensation. The evaluation method for visualizing the determination of the customer is being established by applying Taguchi-methods and so on. The fact is still got many corresponds with the method of Try & Error as numbers of cases are small in order to optimize the properties. Therefore, the study was conducted of the method for optimization of sound quality by using the innovative tool using Taguchi-methods that newly developed. The research results are summarized as follows. (1) Sensory characteristic tuning method by using Taguchi-methods was calculated the values to be optimized in a few studies, and the result was equal to or greater than the result of specialists is carried out. (2) Commonly, the sensory characteristic of optimization is conducted with the method of Try & Error; moreover, it could be confirmed that leading to improvement of productivity by using this method even though it takes time to perform so as to optimize under changing in physical condition and environment.

Recently Taguchi methods are used to decide optimum processing conditions with narrow dispersion for robust design. On the other hand, innovative development with short-term, low cost, labor and energy saving is also required in the world. In this study, the software for development of a product with optimum condition using Taguchi methods is developed and evaluated. There are two trials in the software using Taguchi methods. First trial investigates rough functions regarding all levers of all control factors, then important control factors and meaningless control factors were sorted with the several comments for the second trial. At that time, maximum, intermediate and minimum values for each lever of each of the control factors should be used for pursuit of all possibilities. In the first trial, the relationship between each level value of each of the control factor and the desired property is also decided by the function, then the optimum combination using each level of each of the control factors were calculated for the second trial by using the function. The second trial is confirmed for the best combination using the estimated optimum level values. For example of an application, the optimum design for the paper craft “airplane” was investigated for evaluating this software in the experiment. It is concluded from the result that: (1) The proposed software was useful for developing with short-term and lower cost, (2) This tool could quickly and exactly decide the optimum design condition and (3) The paper craft “airplane“ with most long flying length is manufactured by using the developed software.

The aim of this paper is to present the bicriteria optimization model of a sandwich cylindrical panel under axial compression. The objective functions are the weight and panel deformability. The deformability is defined as the panel bending rigidity reciprocal, and it represents some qualitative measure of the panel deflections. the design variables are the thicknesses of the layers. The constrains include a stability condition, stress conditions, the validation of theoretical models, and finally, technological and constructional requirements. The problem was solved with the help of Pareto's concept of optimality, with continuous and discrete sets of the design variables. Results of numerical calculations are presented in the form of tables and diagrams. A comparison of the optimal parameters for the unilayer and the sandwich panels is presented.
W pracy sformułowano model dwukryterialnej optymalizacji cienkościennej trójwarstwowej paneli walcowej obciążonej osiowymi siłami ściskającymi. Kryteriami optymalizacyjnymi są masa paneli i jej podatność na odkształcenia. Podatność paneli, zdefiniowana jako odwrotność sztywności na zginanie, jest jakościową miarą odkszałcalności konstrukcji. Zmiennymi decyzyjnymi są grubości warstw paneli. Warunkami ograniczającymi są warunek stateczności, warunki wytrzymałościowe, warunek ważności stosowanych modeli teoretycznych oraz warunki technologiczno-konstrukcyjne. Zadanie rozwiązano w oparciu o koncepcję optimum Pareto, uwzględniając dyskretne i ciągłe zbiory zmiennych decyzyjnych. Wyniki obliczeń numerycznych przedstawione są w postaci tabel i wykresów. Porównano optymalne parametry paneli jedno- i trójwarstwowych.

Rice (Oryza species) is a unique annual cereal food crop growing under flooded condition up to 3000 m.a.s.l and pH 4.5-8.5. Production of rice depends on several factors: climate and crop management. Varieties had significant influence on grain yield, Protein content, number of spike and 1000 grain weight. Total dry matter and crop growth rate observed due to interaction of N rate and varieties. Low tillering varieties particularly short duration ones gave low number of panicles m-2 while high tillering cultivars caused competition and more shading consequently low yield. The optimum plant spacing of rice must be identified to obtain high yield, through different utilization of below and above ground resources. Nitrogen availability involved directly or indirectly in the enlargement and division of new cells, and production of tissues which is responsible for increase in growth characteristics particularly tiller numbers, finally determining the number of panicles and spikelet’s. N fertilization of rice is affected by varieties, soil type and climatic fluctuations between years, mainly environmental temperature. The interaction effect of varieties, N rate and row spacing significantly determine 1000 grain weight, straw yield and grain yield of rice.

In this study a formula was derived to calculate optimum volume of cupola blast air [formula), standard operating conditions], cold or hot, for single-row coke cupolas, assuming that the lower boundary of the melting zone is adhacent to the upper boundary of the combustion zone (the condition of optimum cupola running formulated by A. Achenbach in 1931). Relevant equations and tables have also been developed to make the calculations easier. From computations made in this study it follows that the optimum blast air volume is increasing with an increase of the blast air temperature, assuming for cold blast a value close to [formula] (Buzek postulate), with modulus of the metallic charge lumps changing in a range of 15 to 20 mm.
W pracy wyprowadzono wzór do obliczania optymalnej ilości powietrza dmuchu [wzór), warunki normalne], zimnego lub podgrzanego, dla żeliwiaków koksowych jednorzędowych, przy założeniu, że dolna granica strefy topienia przylega do górnej granicy strefy spalania (warunek optymalnego biegu żeliwiaków, sformułowany przez A. Achenbacha w 1931 roku). Opracowano również wzory i tablice ułatwiające obliczenia. Z przeprowadzonych obliczeń wynika, że ze wzrostem temperatury powietrza dmuchu rośnie optymalna ilość powietrza dmuchu, przy czym dla zimnego dmuchu oscyluje ona około wartości [wzór] - postulat Buzka, przy zmianie modułu kawałków wsadu metalowego w zakresie od 15 do 20 mm.

As swift development with low cost was required for the manufacturing in industry, CAE simulation was used to predict the result of the design process, and Taguchi methods was used to decide optimum conditions for minimizing the dispersion.In this study, the perfectly design system without trial production using CAE and Taguchi methods was developed and evaluated. Software for original Taguchi methods and software for productivity management were firstly created, these softwares were combined with established CAE, and software package was developed for estimating the optimum combination of design parameters. Then the quality and the functionality were advanced to gain the optimum condition for the maximum profit considering the function of the grading of products, the delinquent charge and the loss function in the quality engineering based on the developed software. The research results are summarized as follows. (1) Perfectly design system without trial production using Taguchi methods was developed for calculations of the grading products, adding the delinquent charge and the loss function. (2) The evaluation with Kami-copter contributes to the profit evaluation of the grading; the delinquent charge and the loss function with high dimensional accuracy and is evaluated effective on industry.

Opis:
A reversible effect of pH on the ionization of amino-acid residues at the active center of choline oxidase was observed near the optimum pH (8). Inactivation of choline oxidase took place in the pH ranges 3-6 and 9-11, in which irreversible changes in the structure occur leading to the enzyme inactivation. The first order rate constants of the enzyme's inactivation at various pH values were estimated for the irreversible changes. The Arrhenius analysis revealed no significant changes in the activation enthalpy, while an increase in the activation entropy reflected an increase in the conformational freedom.

This paper describes a coaxial contra-rotating propeller (CCRP) system to calculate the hydrodynamic characteristics and then obtain the optimum operational condition to install on two different large bulk carrier and VLCC. The method is based on boundary element method (BEM) to obtain the hydrodynamic performance of any complicated configuration such as CRP system, and then the optimum propeller data is obtained by the systematical method at the design condition. We prepared a software package code, namely SPD (Ship Propeller Design), which has model mesh generation, solver and numerical output results. The comparison of the propulsive performance was made between the propeller alone and CRP arrangement. Major finding include good agreement between predictions using the numerical code and experimental data for both ships.

Further economic and monetary integration in Europe is currently on hold due to the crisis and even questions about the possible exile of Greece. Especially in those conditions, it is important, to see whether integrated Europe can handle future problems and if economic and monetary integration can be helpful or rather more problematic. The main aim of this paper is to check to what degree business cycles are synchronized in the Eurozone and the European Union and what the main determinants of business cycles synchronization are. To achieve this, the following steps have been taken. Firstly, we turn to optimum currency area theory, to see what conditions need to be met, if the European Union and the euro area can use common monetary policy to deal with some economic shocks. Then, all necessary methodological explanations are presented. Later on, the preliminary data analysis is employed to see how business cycles and their determinants were acting during the last 20 years. Finally, panel data analysis is used to check how those determinants actually influence business cycles synchronization. The main finding of the article is that even though business cycles synchronization has been progressing in the European Union and the euro area so does the specialization – divergence in production structure. This may result in less synchronized business cycles in the future.

Triboelectric nanogenerator has extensive applicability because of its capability of harvesting mechanical energy and flexible working modes. To research the optimum pressure and improve the recovered energy of the sliding-mode triboelectric nanogenerator, a contact model of the Al/PTFE tribo-pair is studied by ab initio calculation and finite element simulation. The F-atom of PTFE is proved to be the electron accepter and the charges transferred can be predicted by Bader charge analysis. The mathematical relation between interfacial distance, charges transferred and contact pressure can be fitted. By Gauss’s law, the electric field is simulated and the regeneration energy of the sliding-mode triboelectric nanogenerator can be evaluated by the total electric energy and friction loss. Finally, an optimum pressure can be set to the upper or lower limit of working pressure corresponding to larger recovered energy. And less friction coefficient and larger contact area are also effective methods for recovering energy.
