Opis:
The current phase of low interest rates poses major challenges for banks. A continuous decline in the interest result, which is so important for the profitability of banks, has been observed for years, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for banks to generate sufficient income from the interest margin. This is partly due to the European Central Bank’s expansive monetary policy. However, other factors, such as advancing digitization, also play a role here. The structure of the German banking market and the mostly strong focus of German banks on interest-bearing business are also increasingly becoming a problem. Still, the question arises, whether the current phase of low interest rates is actually a serious threat to banks or whether they are complaining at a high level.

Aim. The study intends to determine the influence of socio-economic status on academic interest of secondary school students in Meghalaya. The study was conducted in two districts of Meghalaya i.e., in East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills Districts. Method. The researcher used sequential explanatory design for collecting the necessary information. The procedure of data collection was that the researcher constructed a semi-structured interview schedule whereby it was validated by the experts in the field of education. In order to determine the influence of socio-economic status on academic interest of secondary school students, the researcher conducted an in-depth interview on 50 secondary school students who were studying in class X. These students were selected purposively from two districts of Meghalaya. The interview was conducted at school premises and the necessary information collected from students was recorded and transcribed to obtain the results. Results. Based on the interview conducted, the study found that socio-economic status did not influence the academic interest of the secondary school students; however, student’s high aspirations, their interest in various subjects, their ambitions, determination and will power to work hard in their studies influence their academic interest. Conclusion. Socio-economic status was not found to have influences on the academic interest of the secondary school students and on the whole the present study suggested for teachers and parents to work cooperatively in order to help students realize their goals and desires.

Opis:
Until recently, negative nominal interest rates of the central bank were in the sphere of theoretical considerations. In 2009, the Swedish Central Bank was the first to implement a negative interest rate policy (NIRP). Since then, the NIRP has been implemented by the National Bank of Denmark, the European Central Bank, the Swiss National Bank and the National Bank of Japan. Unfortunately, due to the large number of simultaneous factors affecting the economy, it is extremely difficult to determine the long-term effects of NIRP implementation. Furthermore, the magnitude of the impact and the global extent of the coronavirus pandemic would have a significant impact on the dilatation, so the focus was on pre-pandemic issues. This paper is a literature review and it aims to synthetize information about the impact of negative interest rates on the market – in financial and real spheres. In this paper, both the results of scientific research and the opinions of experts were used, then the impact of negative nominal interest rates on the financial and real sectors was assessed. The results show that most authors highlight an adverse impact of negative interest rates on the stability of the banking sector regardless of the country. The greatest fear of the NIRP implementation by central banks is that the potential behavior of economic entities cannot be predicted with certainty, especially when it comes to cash deposit withdrawals from banks.

In this article the issue of sectoral interest groups in contemporary Poland is examined. Public restructuring programmes significantly contributed to development of tripartite sectoral social dialogue. Evolution of that type of social dialogue provides a dramatic illustration of how the mechanisms of group interests conflict shaped the course of industrial restructuring. Experiences accumulated over the years of conducting sectoral social dialogue may now serve as a benchmark for regional modernization initiatives.

The article addresses the theoretical issues of the protection of the state interests in the Ukrainian law. The protection of the state interests, being an objective necessity from the perspective of the development of the state and the civil society, requires legal measures to be applied by the state. The core aspect in the analysis of the process of the protection of the state interests by such measures is the theoretical understanding of the state interests concept, including their definition and the requisite qualifications. Based on the approaches of the domestic as well as of the international law on human rights the state interests are proposed to be viewed as objective interests, public in nature, comprising the underlying general social needs, acknowledged by the state. The state interest include, further, the appropriate legal means by which such interests are capable of being protected. Such measures should be relevant to the respective state interests as well as to the specific social relationships in which such measures are to be applied.

W opracowaniu analizowano powiązania pomiędzy dziennymi, miesięcznymi, rocznymi i pięcioletnimi stopami procentowymi w Polsce.
In this research it is examined the relationship between daily, monthly, yearly and 5-yearly interest rates in Poland. VAR model was used in analyze, the impulse response function and variance decomposition. These results indicate that there is influence of long-term interest rates on short-term rates. Such a relationship indicates the presence of feedback, an enhanced response rates.

The sources of the administrator’s duties cannot be limited to respecting statutory injunctions and prohibitions, since they designate only border points. They do not constitute a casuist regulation of all situations. Assuming the legislator’s praxeological and axiological rationality in the process of legislating, it would be necessary to involve a lack of due professional diligence on the basis of civil law liability. However, most courts, as well as the majority of the representatives of doctrine, do not recognize the basis of this responsibility in the mere failure to observe the standards in question, regardless of the seriousness of negligence or inefficiency in the exercise of functions.

Cognitive states are typical of students’ educational activity, which is accompanied by high activity of cognitive processes. Management of this activity is impossible without the knowledge of the structure, function, and mechanisms of actualization of cognitive states in various learning situations. The research relevance of the problem of cognitive states in the context of students’ intellectual activity is due to their unique role in the regulation of the thinking process, maintaining a steady focus on the solution of the problem within a certain period of time. The purpose of this article is to study the structure of the cognitive states that arises in the process of solving intellectual problems (through the example of carrying out R. Amthauer’s intelligence structure test). Leading methods to the study of this problem were tests with standardized questionnaires and retrospective self–reports. According to the results of factor analysis, ten key factors underlying the structure of the typical cognitive state of interest/mental stress have been identified. A system–forming factor of this condition has been emphasized, which is an “attitude” to intellectual activity in the context of the overall semantic orientation of the subject. The obtained results can be of interest to researchers in the field of psychology of emotions as well as to specialists involved in the diagnosis of students’ intellectual abilities.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: Do Smith, Hume and other Scots have an argument to reject John Brown’s claim in his Estimate that a society based on self-interest lacks cohesion? And can they do so without accepting Hobbes’ argument that the necessary cohesion can only be provided by the threat of coercion from a sovereign? THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Problem: The eighteenth century debate on the nature of commercial society. Method: Analysis of key texts in the debate as it occurred in Scotland. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The Scots argue that a society where everyman lives by exchanging, operating on the assumption of selfinterest, is a more peaceable, more equitable and thus more cohesive than that envisioned by Brown. When reinforced by the rule of law, self-interested behaviour supports mutually supportive behaviour. Ultimately this embodies a constant and universal principle of human nature. Human behaviour is not random or chaotic and a commercial society not only exemplifies that fact but also sustains a form of societal life superior to any that has one before. RESEARCH RESULTS: Nostalgia for an earlier time is mis-placed. For all its vehemence Brown’s critique is mis-directed and thus unjustified. CONCLUSION, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This selection of the Scots should be widened to investigate whether Ferguson, Kames, Wallace among others have the same resources as Hume and Smith to rebut Brown.

Previous studies (Bocian & Wojciszke, 2014) showed that self-interest biases moral perception of others’ unethical actions. Moreover, affective changes in attitudinal responses towards the perpetrator of an immoral act drives the bias. In the present studies, we attempted to answer the question whether people are aware of the self-interest bias in their judgments of others’ behavior. We conducted two experiments showing that moral judgments of verbally described and imagined actions were dominated by norms rather than self-interest (Study 1) and that people were not aware that self-interest distorted their moral judgment (Study 2). The unawareness of the self-interest bias among the participants was attributable to omission of their own emotional responses when forecasting their moral judgments. We discuss the importance of emotions presence in studies on moral judgments as well as contribution of the present research to the intuitionist approach to moral judgment.

Opis:
The purpose of the article is to analyse how to balance public interests with the protection of privacy in the tax field. It has not been an easy task especially in the context of access to financial information. In this area, the compromise to achieve transparency needs to pay regard to the principle of proportionality, as reinforced by recent case law of the ECJ, and align with specific legislation such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation and recently enacted EU Digital Services Act. It is extremely important to investigate the possible consequences of acting against fundamental rights that are attributed to European citizens (and not only), such as the right to privacy and the protection of personal data. The paper aims to provide relevant and further insight to paths that lead to a fair way to handle such relevant information. Every citizen, every academically inclined and dedicated individual, every public official, every judicial agent, must question whether the public interest can ever, or at least, recurrently, surpass a fundamental right to privacy, specially, in a sensible area as the financial information of an individual. Such actions can often lead, if mistakes are made along the way, to dangerous outcomes, such as public humiliation, and can even harm the person’s professional and personal life. Methodology. In the course of the paper, an analysis is made of public decisions taken in cases across the European continent. Additionally, some considerations are made about the recent legislation that is produced by competent authorities, particularly the European Institutions. Results of the research. The authors offer a personal insight regarding the information that has been gathered, confirming some significant concerns. What is of crucial importance, as stated in the title of this article, is a well established balance between the public interest and the protection of privacy, with explained and defined possible paths to follow.
