    This study explored the use of WhatsApp chat group as a platform for extending learning in a blended learning classroom with a small group of undergraduates in the Malaysian context. The aim was to provide learners with the opportunity to reflect the strengths and challenges of using the WhatsApp as an extended learning platform. The students’ reflections were further supported by the online interaction archives. Findings revealed that the majority of the students expressed the preference for WhatsApp in their reflections. However, certain problems were also identified in this study. Based on the findings the study has outlined certain pedagogical implications that can be a guide for the future use of apps in teaching and learning activities.

    The purpose of this study is to investigate all related studies that have been published between the years of 1989-2015 in the area of the born global (BG) phenomenon that enumerates the firms which are becoming active in the international market arena by using the methodology of thematic analysis. From the Web of Science Core Collection, 198 articles have been included which have been examined in detail according to their distribution throughout the years, types, focused subjects, writers, institutions, publishing houses and countries. This study is critical as it analyzes the subject of BGs / international new ventures (INVs) with their ever-mounting number, and the effects in the global market during the past three decades by reviewing related research under a systemized thematic umbrella and its importance in regards to significant contributions by defining four thematic top-groups (organizational, sustainability, internationalization, research) with detailed subgroups.

    Access logs may offer service providers a lot of information about specific users. Depending on the type of the service offers, the operator is capable of obtaining the user’s IP, location, communication habits, device information and so on. In this paper, we analyze a sample instant messenger service that is operating for a certain period of time. In our sandbox, we gathered enough data to correlate user communication habits with their localization, and even contacts. We show how seriously metadata may impact the user’s privacy and make some recommendations about mitigating the quantity of data collected in connection with this type of services.

    In the process of using a complex technical object, it is deregulated, worn and its reliability is decreased. Therefore, it is required that its status, technical state and reliability should be observed during its normal use and handling. The results of such observations allow a synthetic (complex) assessment of suitability of the object, determining its ability to properly carry out its tasks in accordance with its intended purpose. A continuous observation of changes of technical condition on the basis of relationship between the diagnostic signals (output) and the input signals (environment) allow evaluation of the regulation state of the object [4, 5]. An innovative method of assessment of the operated system usability presented in the article concerns an adequate analysis of the changes to aRb technical condition and aRc, regulation state current parameters formed from coupled equations of state (1 and 2) [1, 2, 3, 7]. While analysing the waveforms of instantaneous values of aRb technical condition and aRc regulation state parameters, it has been observed that parameter and instantaneous damage can be identified on the basis of quantitative relationships between the instantaneous threshold value of dpr and the corresponding instantaneous value of dpr dop, which are calculated from the following formulas (7, 8, 9). It is assumed that damage exists if for the instant theta i . dpri greather than d prdop i . Having the quantity of damage, reliability characteristics can be determined for every time of technical object exploitation (prior to the occurrence of catastrophic damage) [6].

    This study seeks to examine the existence of Instant Messaging language phenomenon among female teenagers in some Jordanian private schools and its influence on their learning experience, mainly literacy. It also raises questions about the characteristics of textese as well as teachers’ attitude towards their students’ use of SMS language in their academic writing. The methodology used in this study involves the descriptive and quantitative analysis of writings taken from 320 female teenagers in four different private schools in Amman, Jordan following National and International Programs as well as the responses to a questionnaire filled out by 100 EFL teachers. Upon the examination of these writings, it becomes clear that Instant Messaging language appears in students’ writing, and teachers have reservations towards its use by their students in their writing. Data suggest that teachers should raise students’ awareness of this issue to help them effectively control and enhance the influence of Instant Messaging on their academic writing.

    The instant foxtail millet was prepared using microwave vacuum drying (MVD), microwave-hot air drying (MHAD), hot air drying (HAD) and traditional roasting (TR). Their effects on drying kinetics, physicochemical properties as well as sensory quality were evaluated and compared. Results showed that the total drying time varied with the drying method used and was about 160, 100, 260, and 45 min for MVD, MHAD, HAD and TR, respectively. The effective moisture diffusion coefficients (Deff) were 6.57×10-9 m2/s, 9.80×10-9 m2/s, 4.14×10-9 m2/s and 6.20×10-9 m2/s for MVD, MHAD, HAD and TR, respectively. Drying resulted in a significant decrease in L* and an increase in a* and b* of the color of products. MVD, MHAD and HAD products had a comparable rehydration ratio and cooking time. Scanning electron microscopy and rehydration process revealed that MHAD and MVD samples had a similar structure with the HAD sample. Drying caused a loss of 6.5–54.9% in the total phenolic content and a loss of 38.4–62.2% in total yellow pigment content. MVD millet displayed the highest total phenolic content (142.56 mg GAE/100 g dry matter) and yellow pigment content (9.56 mg CE/kg dry matter). In sensory evaluation, MHAD, HAD and MVD samples had comparable scores and were all accepted by the panelists, either in dry or rehydrated form. MHAD and MVD can be used as an alternative to hot air drying or traditional roasting in the production of the instant millet due to shorter drying time and better product quality.

    The main intention of this text is to show the interpretative track in the attempt to find the genealogy of expert appraisal. The main thesis expresses Zygmunt Bauman’s view of mutual connection between the weak and light status of identity in consumer culture and the tendency to create cultural practices in order to overcome that weakness, and to strengthen and confirm that status of identity. On the one hand, the main feature of consumer culture and our freedom expressed by consumption determines our identities and is the main reason for „corrosion of identity” (R. Sennett), but on the other hand it demands and generates the necessity of cultural institutions that guarantee its confirmation. Hence, we may find the reason for the so-called „counselling boom” and expansion of expert appraisal in our risk society. The presented text also shows the cultural background for cultural practices in the risk society and consists of the attempt to grasp social instant pedagogies. This phenomenon is analysed here by the role of advertisements and psychological guides as the main cultural practices of instant pedagogy. My intention seeks to bring to account often hidden and obvious practices, and to highlight in a critical manner the tendencies in our social milieu and in the face of „the unbearable lightness of consumption”.

    The paper presents research on selected functional properties of edible films as a new type of fast-dissolving biopolymerbased packaging for instant coffee. The film production consisted of preparing aqueous film-forming solutions with biopolymers such as apple and citrus pectin, sodium alginate and soy protein isolate. The solutions were poured and dried at 50°C for 24 h. Water content, solubility in water, color and opacity, water vapor permeability and mechanical properties of analyzed films were investigated. The obtained results showed different film properties of which citrus pectin turned out to show the most desired functional properties for instant coffee, including transparency, good sealability and solubility in water.
    W artykule przedstawiono badania wybranych właściwości użytkowych folii jadalnych jako nowego rodzaju szybko rozpuszczalnych biopolimerowych opakowań do kawy rozpuszczalnej. Produkcja folii polegała na przygotowaniu wodnych roztworów foliotwórczych z biopolimerami, takimi jak pektyna jabłkowa i cytrusowa, alginian sodu i izolat białka sojowego. Roztwory wylano i suszono w temperaturze 50°C przez 24 h. Zbadano zawartość wody, rozpuszczalność w wodzie, barwę i nieprzezroczystość, przenikalność pary wodnej oraz właściwości mechaniczne analizowanych folii. Uzyskane wyniki wykazały różne parametry folii. Pektyna cytrusowa wykazywała najbardziej pożądane właściwości użytkowe dla kawy rozpuszczalnej, w tym przezroczystość, dobrą zgrzewalność i rozpuszczalność w wodzie.

    In Vietnam, the covid situation started in the beginning of 2020 but not until May 2021, it severely impacts the country economically and socially. Some of the top instant coffee producers in Vietnam are struggling to calibrate their business decision-making to survive but others are taking advantage of the situation and fetch for opportunistic expansion. The theoretical framework initiates a global examination in the coffee industry to seek understandings through different business approaches from international organizations against the pandemic and determines dominant components succor firms to overcome adversities. Specifically, this study focuses on understanding the business strategies of Vietnam instant coffee manufacturers using business case study and unstructured interview. The result unveils that for the company survival plan categorizes into three directions: expanding, hibernating, and idling tactic. The paper suggests that during the pandemic event, the business decision-making highly relates to the degree of automation and liquidation. Furthermore, the study suggests that the decision of whether to embrace vertical or horizontal acquisition tactic during this period is a dependent variable with the magnitude of synchronization among the firm sub-business ecosystem. The study, hence, suggested instant coffee manufacturer to establish a set of backup plan in case of unexpected pandemic occasions by improving their automation degree and upgrading its liquidation channels.
    W Wietnamie sytuacja krukowa zaczęła się na początku 2020 r., ale dopiero w maju 2021 r. ma poważny wpływ na gospodarczo i społecznie kraj. Niektórzy z czołowych producentów kawy rozpuszczalnej w Wietnamie walczą o dostosowanie swoich decyzji biznesowych, aby przetrwać, ale inni wykorzystują sytuację i szukają oportunistycznej ekspansji. Ramy teoretyczne inicjują globalne badanie branży kawowej w celu znalezienia zrozumienia poprzez różne podejścia biznesowe organizacji międzynarodowych przeciwko pandemii i określają dominujące elementy, które pomagają firmom przezwyciężać przeciwności losu. W szczególności niniejsze badanie koncentruje się na zrozumieniu strategii biznesowych wietnamskich producentów kawy rozpuszczalnej przy użyciu studium przypadku biznesowego i nieustrukturyzowanego wywiadu. Wynik pokazuje, że plan przetrwania firmy dzieli się na trzy kierunki: taktyka ekspansji, hibernacji i bezczynności. Artykuł sugeruje, że podczas pandemii podejmowanie decyzji biznesowych w dużym stopniu zależy od stopnia automatyzacji i likwidacji. Ponadto badanie sugeruje, że decyzja, czy przyjąć taktykę pionowego lub poziomego przejęcia w tym okresie, jest zmienną zależną o wielkości synchronizacji między ekosystemem podfirmowym firmy. Badanie sugerowało zatem producentowi kawy rozpuszczalnej ustalenie planu awaryjnego na wypadek nieoczekiwanych sytuacji pandemii poprzez poprawę stopnia ich automatyzacji i unowocześnienie kanałów likwidacji.

    A parameter of the signal segment is regarded as a measurand here. In a set of parameters the support of which consists of more than one element, a subset of averaging parameters is defined as those being reflexive, symmetric, bisymmetric, increasing monotonic, cancellable and continuous. These attributes, previously defined for discrete operations (B. Ellis, J. Pfanzagl), are in Section 3 reformulated for functional operations projecting signal segments into real numbers. Their meanings are explained and examples are given. Then, in Section 4, it is analysed to what degree these theoretical attributes are achieved in three kinds of circuits: in a low pass RC filter, in an integrator, and in a sample-and–hold circuit (S/H). The coefficient (12) was proposed for the evaluation of the circuit’s ability to provide a symmetric parameter. This attribute, although possessed by the integrator almost perfectly, is not achievable in the filter and S/H circuit. Thus the quasi-instant parameters provided by the S/H cannot be considered as averaged. The period of an effective influence of the input signal on the output voltage, and the delay introduced by the S/H circuit, are defined.

    The use of multifunctional smartphones has changed lives in recent years and raised concerns around the world. The ability of smartphones to perform multiple tasks simultaneously is appealing. However, the total amount of time spent using smartphones every day is alarming, and excessive use might impact physical and mental health. The main goal is to determine the adequacy of the term “addiction” for excessive and problematic smartphone use. We present the case of Jalila, a 32-year-old woman who excessively uses her smartphone. We evaluate Jalila’s symptoms, noting that she spends about 9 hours per day on her smartphone. Jalila’s excessive cellphone use includes various addictive habits, such as instant chatting, watching YouTube videos, browsing the web, and visiting social media sites. The total amount of time she spends on these activities indicates a high degree of smartphone usage. When considered in its entirety, the smartphone, with all its functionalities, is a tool that can be used for all of these activities throughout the day. Jalila’s phone activities are primarily focused on community sites, and she uses her smartphone more than she intends to, indicating a loss of control that is affecting her health and well-being.

    Szukając samego siebie. Granica między etycznym a religijnym stadium. Niniejszy przyczynek jest poświęcony analizie Kierkegaardowskich kategorii skoku i momentu, które w pewien sposób wyrażają ludzką egzystencji. Ludzkie istnienie, wyjątkowe i niepowtarzalne, jest samo w sobie nieuchwytne i trudne do wyrażenia w języku. Egzystencjalistyczna filozofia Kierkegaarda oferuje metodę komunikacji niebezpośredniej. Kierkegaard sugeruje, że o ile chcemy uchwycić fenomen ludzkiej egzystencji, musimy zadowolić się jedynie pośrednim i partykularnym rozumieniem. Żadna konkretna jednostka nie jest w stanie kiedykolwiek uchwycić własnej egzystencji całościowo. Istnieje jednakże miejsce, otwierające możliwość samorozumienia i samoposiadania człowieka. Tym miejscem jest granica, czy też krawędź etycznego i religijnego stadium egzystencji. Stąd celem artykułu jest poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytanie: „Co dzieje się na granicy pomiędzy tym, co etyczne, a tym, co religijne?”

    Opis:
    Instant coffee products are very popular for consumers, at both urban and rural levels. Consumer loyalties respond to various attributes of instant coffee products, grouped by internal and external factors. The study using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model. The proposed method provides a direct mapping from configuration loyalty attributes to consumer behavior. The algorithm used in training set is Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) with random data division and the performance is calculated using MSE. The result revealed that internal factors were effective predictors of a lower preference in consumer loyalties whereas external factors were more effective in predicting a higher preference in consumer loyalties. This research represents a first attempt to use neural networking to model the relationship between consumer-producer attributes and consumer loyalties.
    Produkty kawy rozpuszczalnej są bardzo popularne wśród konsumentów, zarówno w obszarach miejskich, jak i wiejskich. Lojalność konsumentów reaguje na różne cechy wymienionych produktów kawowych, można je pogrupować według czynników wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych. Badanie przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem modelu sztucznej sieci neuronowej (ANN). Proponowana metoda zapewnia bezpośrednie odwzorowanie atrybutów lojalnościowych i konfiguracji zachowań konsumenckich. Algorytmem używanym w badaniu jest Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) z losowym podziałem danych, a wydajność obliczana jest za pomocą MSE. Rezultaty wskazują, że czynniki wewnętrzne były skutecznymi predyktorami niższej preferencji w lojalności konsumentów, podczas gdy czynniki zewnętrzne były bardziej skuteczne w przewidywaniu wyższych preferencji w lojalności konsumentów. Badania te stanowią pierwszą próbę wykorzystania sieci neuronowych do modelowania relacji między cechami producent-konsument a lojalnością konsumenta.

    Opis:
    The article is devoted to the development of a new method of calculating the instantaneous traction power supply circuits of the system. On the basic of the design scheme of generalized traction substations zone provided analytical functions of the resistance. Using the known functions of the current distribution of functions putted into the concept of resistance feeders traction substations. The functions of resistance and current distribution used in a more straightforward method of calculating the instant schemes that allow to formalize electrical calculations of electrical traction power supply systems.
    Artykuł jest poświęcony nowej metodzie obliczania chwilowych schematów układów zasilania systemu trakcji elektrycznej. Na podstawie uogólnionych wyników dla odcinka między podstacjami pokazano zależności analityczne funkcji rezystancji. Z wykorzystaniem znanych funkcji podziału prądów trakcyjnych wprowadzono pojęcie rezystancji zasilaczy podstacji trakcyjnych. Łączne wykorzystywanie funkcji rezystancji i funkcji podziału prądów trakcyjnych pozwala na znaczne uproszczenie metody obliczania chwilowych schematów układów zasilania trakcji elektrycznej. Umożliwia to sformalizowanie obliczeń elektrycznych systemów zasilania trakcji elektrycznej.
