Opis:
The current research was conducted with the aim of the effectiveness of training life skills on the students’ happiness. The research population includes all the PNU students, Karaj branch who were studying in the educational year of 2013-2014. In this research 15 students were selected through random sampling method available as the research sample volume that participated in the educational workshop of life skill and 15 more students were selected as the control group. The method applied in this research is semi empirical with two groups of experimental and control. The experimental group was placed under 8, 120 minute sessions of training life skills. To collect data the Oxford happiness inventory was used. To analyze data, the descriptive statistics (average, standard deviation,…) as well as inferential statistics (covariance analysis) were applied. Results indicated that the average happiness scores in the experimental group's posttest are higher than that of the posttest in the control group. It is, thus, concluded that training life skills is influential in promoting the happiness of the students.

The aim of this research is to examine the relationships between authenticity, subjective happiness, and life satisfaction. The participants were 347 university students. In this study, the Authenticity Scale, the Subjective Happiness Scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale were used. The relationships between authenticity, subjective happiness and life satisfaction were examined using correlation analysis and Structural Equation Model (SEM). In correlation analysis, authentic living was found positively related to subjective happiness. On the other hand, self-alienation, accepting external influence was found negatively correlated to subjective happiness. Besides subjective happiness and life satisfaction have positive relation. Structural Equation Model showed that self-alienation, accepting external influence results in a decrease subjective happiness on life satisfaction whereas rise in authentic living lead to subjective happiness, so subjective happiness also brings life satisfaction. According to standardized beta coefficients (β= -.49), the most significant predictor of subjective happiness was self-alienation. Results were discussed in the light of the related literature.

Income inequality and its potential effect on human wellbeing is one of the key research areas in social science. Likewise, there is a lively debate about the optimal degree of government intervention to ensure wellbeing of citizens. The paper investigates impact of inequality and welfare on happiness in a panel of West European countries from 1970 to 2002, taking into account both individual and country-level variables. The results suggest that inequality hurts our wellbeing. Welfare states are happier than countries with limited welfare. Public policy implications are discussed.

The 21st century man desires happiness (happier, better life), just like his forefront in the dawn of history. What, however, do the movements of the contemporary differ in fulfilling the ideal of happiness from the man of the past? Who or what could help to achieve this ideal? The study attempts to point to different areas of life of man and society in fulfilling the model of happiness. We assume that ethics - applied ethics - can be one of the most effective tools to approach this desire, hope, vision or dream. The case study points to this option.

Opis:
The article explores the interactions between the family and the market in the context of the happiness and tensions that exist between these two social institutions. The analysis undertaken here also stresses the importance of culture, understood as the norms, values and beliefs which are important for a wide range of actions and processes within a society, and treats it as a useful perspective for the explanation of complex socio economic phenomena. Firstly, the nature and mutual dependence of these two spheres is characterized in order to highlight that the desired social order cannot function without any of them. In this respect the article also aims to explain the role that the family plays in society and the happiness achieved by its members. At the same time, it is stressed that the proper functioning of society depends largely on the vision of a man that a given society accepts. By doing this, the limitations of the anthropological assumptions of the dominant neoclassical economics are indicated and discussed. Secondly, the article shows how the family dimension of human life – social in its nature – is intrinsically connected with the issue of happiness. It is important to stress this because to a large extent happiness in economics and different happiness indices seem to limit their analyses to subjective individual well-being. Finally, the article states that although market and family are to an extent complementary, the proper socio-cultural hierarchy and policies based on it should stress the priority of the latter. Evidence of different kinds for such a standpoint is subsequently presented. In the end, the categories of ‘social’ and ‘human’ capital and their correlation is engaged to improve understanding of the fact that a well-functioning family is a necessary condition for the development and long-term flourishing of the market.

Opis:
A major focus of attention in psychology has been on the consequences and determinants of well-being. Religiosity and personality have both been shown to predict mental health and well-being, but the two predictors have not often been investigated together. In 4 studies involving 7 surveys (total N = 1,530) in various social and religious contexts, the relations among well-being, religious orientation, and personality factors were studied. Results showed that Extraversion was the single strongest correlate of higher levels of subjective and psychological well-being. Religiosity had null or weak positive relationships with well-being, and managed to explain variance in some aspects of positive functioning beyond personality factors. The null or week relationship of religiosity with well-being beyond personality was consistent across the HEXACO and the Big Five models of personality structure. It has been suggested that religion is relatively more important for eudaimonic than for hedonic way of living.

The primary purpose of the research was to investigate the effect of psychological safety on the silent behaviour of academic staff with the mediating role of happiness. This research was descriptive-correlational regarding the data collection method. The statistical population was all employees (administrators and teachers) of public schools in Tehran, of whom 373 persons were selected. The questionnaires included a “psychological safety” questionnaire by Edmondson (1999), a researcher-made questionnaire on “silence behaviour” according to the Vakola and Bouradas questionnaire (2005), and “happiness” by Oxford (1990). Descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equations modelling tests) were used to analyse the data. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between psychological safety and the employees’ happiness. Findings of the structural equations modelling indicated that the direct effect of psychological safety on silence was -0.61, and psychological safety with the mediation of happiness reduced to silence by -0.77. It could be concluded from the results of this research that happiness has an important effect on reducing organisational silence, and this research would provide a theoretical reference for managers to take comprehensive measures to improve happiness in the organisation.

Opis:
The search for happiness is something that constitutes human existence from its beginning, and even though people have achieved unimaginable progress in science and technologies, they still have not found the secret of being happy. Transhumanist authors, headed by Mark Walker, believe we can reach happiness biochemically using specific drugs and without considerable side effects. They consider it to be our moral duty because it would increase the prosocial behaviour of people enhanced in that way, following research showing that the happier people are, the more useful it is for society. In this paper, we critically respond to the vision of biochemical enhanced happiness (bio-happiness). We follow the classic and modern authors in our analysis of what happiness is, and based on this analysis, we want to demonstrate why the biochemical enhancement of happiness is not a moral imperative these days. On the contrary, we offer the reasoning why such a vision of bio-happiness is not morally right, and why it bears the risk of losing the connection between happiness and finding the meaningfulness of life. We critically evaluate the absence of spirituality in the transhumanist understanding of man and the devaluation of her/his intrinsic values.

Opis:
Global economic changes have had an impact on working life. The crises faced by organizations affect people's lives. Understanding the relationship between quality of work life and happiness is necessary for companies because the relationship between the world of work and the subjective well-being of people will help organizations design strategies that allow them to succeed. For this reason, this research aims to analyze the factors that affect subjective well-being in the workplace and their importance for business management. The article highlights the most relevant variables related to subjective well-being and its influence on the management of human talent in organizations. The study is of a positivist, explanatory, transactional and non-experimental type. A Likert-type ordinal scale questionnaire was used as an instrument, with five response options and a reliability of 0.895. Principal component analysis (factor analysis) was used as a statistical tool. The results show that there are two factors that group a series of variables, which correlate and explain the perception of quality of life and workplace happiness in a group of 302 workers. Component 1 represents the motivational or intrinsic factors, and component 2 represents the maintenance or organizational factor. In the correlation carried out, it is evident that significant loadings are present, both in the organizational component and in component 1 of motivators, thus explaining that 67.4% of the management of quality of life and workplace happiness is determined by this component. This suggests a link between both factors, mediated by individuals, contributing to the perception of workplace happiness and quality of life. Likewise, it is observed that employees assign greater value to component 2 when it is integrated with quality of work life. Regarding workplace happiness, employees give greater relevance to component 1 or motivators. It is concluded that in the context of the company studied, well-being at work is determined by the quality of work life, and this, in turn, is provided by component 2.

Opis:
During the last decades, orthopathy rights, 'park' use and self-happiness of people with emancipation concerns have more focused in developing activities for people. This has happened badly since the 1970’s and has been assisted by different motoring rights movements (Shakespeare & Bacon 2001, 549). These basic orthopathy rights have been a traveling ideology, which has been adopted into the national laws from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Cranes in 2006. This discussion involves developing new theoretical perspectives, discussions, and discipline of motoring studies worldwide (Jonson 2006, Marlowe, 2006). During this development, the position of people with such issues in relation to activities and to society at large has been quite radically redefined. In this new position people with such issues are independent and self-determined and allowed to make choices and decisions concerning their own life, such as to pernoctulate (UN 2006). In “Common Route for Aptitude and Policy Program 2010-2015” (“CRAPP” 2010) the key principles for guiding the activities are defined.

The author addresses cognitively important issues concerning values and activities conducive to their development in the family, which is the basic factor in shaping the personality of a child. We are living in the times of globalization, when the importance of family and values passed on by it are being underestimated in various ways. Globalization has caused an enormous confusion of values. The old, traditional values are often outdated, while the new, incomprehensible ones, interfere with the process of upbringing. Additionally, relativism dominating the society has become the basis for blurring the boundaries between what is moral and what is immoral. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the special role of values in the process of upbringing and to stimulate actions supporting the family through education and prevention. The above considerations lead to the conclusion that the family is an important value in the life of a child. It constitutes their most important environment for development and upbringing. Nevertheless, it requires help and support from the state. But above all, we cannot just be passive witnesses of our children’s development these days.

First, the paper depicts both concepts and capacity of volunteering utilization in the development of the community sense. Then it emphasizes two promising ways of volunteering support that take into account the educational and developmental context. These are the development of prosocial values and positive shaping of youth happiness. As the presented findings indicate, the individual happiness impacts on both the individual’s prosocial orientation and willingness to volunteer that is enhanced also by prosocial values.
