This study builds on an existing structural model developed to examine the influence of leadership and organizational culture on innovation and satisfaction of engineers in Australian public sectors (APS). The objective of this study is to increase the understanding of innovation process with a focus on causal relationships among critical factors. To achieve this objective, the study develops an assessment approach to help predict creativity and work meaningfulness of engineers in the APS. Three quantitative analysis methods were sequentially conducted in this study including correlation analysis, path analysis, and Bayesian networks. A correlation analysis was conducted to pinpoint the strong association between key factors studied. Subsequently, path analysis was employed to identify critical pathways which were accordingly used as a structure to develop Bayesian networks. The findings of the study revealed practical strategies for promoting (1) transformational leadership and (2) innovative culture in public sector organizations since these two factors were found to be key drivers for individual creativity and work meaningfulness of their engineers. This integrated approach may be used as a decision support tool for managing the innovation process for engineers in the public sectors.

Purpose: The article aims to identify areas of knowledge, key skills, and competencies of engineers and managers necessary in the Industry 5.0 environment. Design/methodology/approach: The achievements and results presented in the article were obtained based on literature research and expert research conducted among 25 professionals with experience in management, innovation, and technology of Industry 4.0. The research technique was a standardized interview. Findings: Based on the research results obtained, the essential knowledge areas and competencies of engineers and managers of industrial enterprises oriented to the implementation of the Industry 5.0 concept were identified. Research limitations/implications: The analysis of experts' opinions is only a signaling of the problem of the need for changes in the development of knowledge and competencies of industry employees functioning in the Industry 5.0 environment. The research should be extended to other areas of the economy, e.g., services, education, quality of life, and Society 5.0. Originality/value: Original achievements obtained during the research include getting valuable research results in the areas of knowledge, required key skills, and competencies required of future industry employees. The research results were obtained directly from experts who, through their daily experience, meet the knowledge and competence deficits of modern companies. In addition, experts have the necessary knowledge of new technologies and requirements posed by the Industry 5.0 environment.

This work describes the teaching that is used in the subject of "Systems Interconnection" that is taught in the Higher Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Extremadura. Each of the sections that make up the subject are detailed, both the competences that the students will have as soon as they pass the subject, as well as the theoretical and practical contents taught therein. In addition, a summary is made of the teaching methodology used, the learning results, and finally ends detailing the evaluation methodology  and above of all the academic results of the last courses, where an improvement in these results is observed, especially in the percentage of approved by reducing the sum of the percentages of unchanged and suspended.  
Niniejsza praca opisuje proces nauczania przedmiotu „Połączenie systemów” w Wyższej Szkole Inżynierii Telekomunikacyjnej Uniwersytetu w Estremadurze w Hiszpanii. Wnikliwie opisuje każdą z części składowych przedmiotu i obejmuje zarówno kompetencje uzyskane przez studentów po ukończeniu kursu, jak i nauczane w ramach kursu treści teoretyczne i praktyczne. Ponadto dokonano podsumowania zastosowanej metodologii nauczania oraz wyników uczenia się. Artykuł zamyka szczegółowa metodologia oceny i wyniki akademickie ostatnich kursów, na podstawie których zaobserwowano poprawę wyników studentów, zwłaszcza w zakresie procentowej liczby studentów niezdających przedmiotu. Poprawę odnotowano dzięki wprowadzeniu oceny ciągłej części teoretycznej przedmiotu. W skrócie, artykuł stanowi opis obecnej koncepcji przedmiotu „Połączenie systemów”.

The phenomenon of job satisfaction is related not only to the aspects of work efficiency and production but also to psychic satisfaction, which is an end in itself, for the structural engineers. This descriptive study aimed to determine and analyze the factors influencing the success of structural engineers Career success was assumed compromise extrinsic (compensation) and intrinsic (job satisfaction) elements. The individual respondents were selected from the list Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP) using purposive sampling. Some interesting insights of the study are (a) The demographic variables of structural engineers, to a large extent contribute to the success of structural engineers. b) The level of career success of structural engineers is dependent on the profile of structural engineers that determine its extrinsic and intrinsic success.

Education concerning computer tools for the future engineers is present at the universities for over 40 years and since every student of engineering faculties (not only computer engineering) obtains knowledge of computer applications and data processing tools. We are often asked why do we teach IT if the computer is commonly used and every student is well acknowledged with its applications. New problem arises as the students use computers, but do not understand its meaning in their future work. There is a gap between everyday thinking of computer application and real needs for the engineer. The aim of the presented analysis is to discuss how to fill this gap and prepare syllabus to gain students interest and present them with understanding of the tools they are about to use in their work.

The paper reconstructs the ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) centers in Poland. The findings rely on empirical data, collected through autobiographical narrative interviews. The technique of analysis applied in the study was inspired by grounded theory methodology and allowed for the identification of a basic social process at the analytical stage, namely, “career planning.” On the one hand, the analysis also showed how IT specialists’ careers are given meanings concerning career planning; there seem to be three main ways of understanding one’s career in IT: (1) in terms of reaching economic and social stability, (2) as a transition period in a career as an IT specialist, (3) with regard to becoming an expert in IT. On the other hand, the second axis of analysis has been conceptualized, which is comprised of other subjective and objective elements that may shape career planning. These include the biographical experiences of work, the context of the Polish BPO industry, and career planning resources. Furthermore, a typology consisting of three ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO centers has been put forward and analyzed.

Opis:
The paper presents basic information about the prevention of explosions and fires in marine engines, with particular reference to explosions in the crankcase. It also discusses the possibility of using engine room simulators in educating marine officer engineers to prevent dangerous situations during actual marine diesel operation. Two scenarios have been shown that illustrate the developments in the case of improper operation of main bearings while the operation of an engine safety system is intact and there is lack/override/failure of safety systems. In scenario I the main engine shut down occurs and scenario II simulates an explosion in the crankcase.

Engineers education is a difficult and damaging process in dynamically changing conditions in the modern labor market. Theoretical and practical knowledge, which is being provided them, must be (at every level of education) strictly compatible with labor market needs. This situation requires providing future engineers contact with real working conditions. It significantly affects better conformity of future engineer qualifications to employers' demand. This article presents initiatives selected in this area, which are being taken by Polish universities. The authors indicate a group of key competencies of future employees-engineers and characterize potential way of the development of their key skills and competencies in the context of e-learning courses.
Kształcenie inżynierów we współczesnych dynamicznie zmieniających się warunkach na rynku pracy jest procesem trudnym i wymagającym. Dostarczenie przyszłym inżynierom wiedzy teoretycznej i praktycznej musi być, na każdym poziomie nauki, ściśle kompatybilne z potrzebami rynku pracy. Taka sytuacja wymaga odpowiedniego zapewnienia kontaktu przyszłych inżynierów z realnymi warunkami pracy, co znacząco wpływa na lepsze dostosowanie kwalifikacji przyszłego inżyniera do zapotrzebowania jakie zgłaszają pracodawcy. W niniejszym referacie przedstawiono wybrane w tym obszarze inicjatywy podejmowane przez polskie uczelnie, wskazano na grupę kluczowych kompetencji przyszłych pracowników-inżynierów oraz scharakteryzowano potencjalne możliwości kształtowania ich kluczowych umiejętności i kompetencji w ramach zajęć e-learningowych.

It is emphasized that simulation modeling of compound electronic devices is one of the effective methods of education and training of electronics engineers, but the problem of wide time to waiting of results in simulation modeling of compound electronic devices come into being. Programming system Amethyst design compound models, for which the waiting time of results is in reasonable limits. The model of microcontroller PIC18F6720, which is used on lessons "Embedded systems", is described and results of experiments with the model are presented. Experiments with the model lead to the conclusion that the model can be used in the process of education and training of electronics engineers.

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) was established in 1941 during the Dutch colonial rule as the first mechanical engineering program in Indonesia. The Master's Degree program in mechanical engineering was added to the Study Program much later in 1987. Both programs (Sarjana and Master's Degree Programs) have been awarded an 'A' grade from the Indonesian National Accreditation Board/Badan Akreditasi Nasional (BAN). However, over the years participation in the Master's Degree program has been low, with an average of less than 20 students per year. The stringent application requirements to enter the program and the lucrative salary packages offered by the industries might be the most common reasons why people refrain from pursuing a Master's Degree that requires them to spend a 1.5 to 3 years of study time. Since 2008, two new approaches have been introduced into the Master's Degree program. First, the Fasttrack Program, which allows high-achieving students to accomplish both the Sarjana and Master's Degree programs in 5 years. The other is called Credit Earning Activity (CEA), which allows industrial employees to attend the Master's Degree program without having to retire or take a leave from their work. This paper discusses the experiences and lessons learned from 25 years of administering the Master's Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering at ITB. Several efforts have been made to improve the quality of the program.

Purpose: To develop a new concept of laboratory support for learners at different levels of education to maintain a high education quality in conditions of limited opportunities, such as lockdown, lack of funding, etc. Design/methodology/approach: To create a new concept, the practical experience of school teachers, educators of technical colleges and universities, research workers, as well as experience of scientists in the educational field published in open information' sources was taken into account. The development of a new concept was carried out from 2014 to 2016, and its implementation, introduction into the educational process, and possible ways to solve technical and organizational difficulties from 2016 to the present. In the last year, special attention was paid to distance learning. Findings: The development and the first practical steps to implement the new concept of updating the laboratory support of educational institutions clearly demonstrate of its practical implementation' feasibility. Positive consequences from the implementation were identified as constant improvement of laboratory equipment, increase in the educators’ level, transformation of virtual distance learning based on lectures and videos into real learning with "live" visual demonstration of physical, chemical, biological and other processes and experimental research. As a recommendation, should wish that at the state level to recommend the implementation of this approach and to propose some legal mechanisms to overcome identified problems. Research limitations/implications: The present study was conducted for Ukrainian educational institutions with the involvement of foreign students from different countries studying in Ukraine. Practical implications: The introduction of a new concept into the educational process in countries with a weak economy will improve the educational quality and reduce the cost of creating laboratory support. Originality/value: Equipment should not only be a teaching tool, but also a teaching subject.

World marine engineering sector has been developing rather swiftly since recently. Every year the majority of leading shipping companies raise the level of management & maintenance of their vessels. Therefore the requirements to seafarers are increasing constantly. All these circumstances lead to the fact that every next year marine institutions, having limited time for teaching process, meet rising difficulties in seafarer’s proper training. That goes particularly for the special (technical) subjects, which are being taught to future marine engineers and form the level of their proficiency by the time of the graduation.
