Space exploration is currently gaining momentum. This interest is crucial for attracting students to space sciences. We present the results of a qualitative and quantitative study on space exploration perception among university students. Our study showed that participants are interested in space sciences, but their intention to engage in space education is low. Female and male students did not differ in terms of general attitude and interest in space and were equally (not) likely to engage in space education and career. Our findings have practical value for designing interventions to enhance students’ engagement in space education.

Pablo Helguera (Mexico City, 1971) is a New York based artist working with installation, sculpture, photography, drawing, socially engaged art and performance. Helguera’s work focuses in a variety of topics ranging from history, pedagogy, sociolinguistics, ethnography, memory and the absurd, in formats that are widely varied including the lecture, museum display strategies, musical performances and written fiction. His work as an educator has usually intersected his interest as an artist. This intersection is best exemplified in his project, The School of Panamerican Unrest (2003–2006), a nomadic think-tank that physically crossed the American continent by car from Anchorage, Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, making 40 stops in between. Covering almost 20,000 miles, it is considered one of the most extensive public art projects on record as well as a pioneering work for the new generation of artworks regarded under the area of socially engaged art. The contribution, in the form of a conversation, will retrace Helguera’s work to focus on questions of publicness, art and participation in a moment in which socially engaged practices are increasingly established in the contemporary art realm. By articulating the artist’s strategies and operating methodologies, the aim is to shed light on ways in which art can contribute to widen the public discourse on the social and political life and create accessible spaces of meeting, confrontation and dialogue, in which a counter- narrative to the dominant neoliberal frame work can take place.

Opis:
Current education policy seeks to promote an inclusive education model that aims to prevent social exclusion and marginalization by taking advantage of the potential of diversity. Inclusive education is an idea that is part of the direction of systemic changes in contemporary educational policy. Despite the many years of presence in the educational space, this concept is not free from critical remarks regarding the real possibilities of implementing its assumptions in everyday educational practice. The bright vision of the school for everyone creates a difficult model in practical implementation. This article attempts to show the potential of inclusive education on the one hand as a space for change, and on the other as a utopian concept difficult to implement in its present shape, but socially important and necessary in modern special education.

Opis:
The paper presents the evolution and trends in the Master’s-level studies in aerospace engineering in Italy, looking at the past 20 years. In the year 2000, a major reform of the higher education in engineering took place in Italy, with the introduction of the so-called ‘Bologna system’ and the clear separation of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree studies. With this reform, a relatively high flexibility was given to universities to define their programme structures. The ministerial rules defined only broad subject areas within which courses and credits should be allocated. This reform allowed the diversification of the educational profile within each university and, even more relevant, allowed the creation of mobility across the country between Bachelor’s and Master’s study programmes. The paper will show the basic facts and figures in the six Italian universities participating in the Partnership of a European Group of Aeronautics and Space Universities (PEGASUS) network (Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino, Università di Pisa, Università degli Studi di Napoli ‘Federico II’, Sapienza Università di Roma and Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna), elaborating on the impact of the potential workforce for the sector. Data have been collected from the official open data repository of the Italian Ministry of University, supplemented by information provided by the six universities under analysis. The comparative analysis shows two major results: the positive impact of the reform on the overall Italian higher education and, specifically, a greater appreciation of the aerospace curricula proposed in accordance with the new system.

The article presents an analysis of the transformations in private space and spatial practices manifested by students in connection with long-term online university education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The text includes a presentation of the results of a series of four focus group interviews carried out in 2021 via Zoom platform with students drawn from a few Polish colleges. The research sample was diversified in terms of gender, field of study, type of college, and mode of study. The research suggests key dimensions shaping the experience of remote university study: the spatial dimension, technological dimension and the organisational-educational dimension. Four basic kinds of student experiences are presented as well. The analyses also include a description of spatial practices such as: changing or adapting space for remote university education, negotiating spatial boundaries and attempts to ameliorate conflicts resulting from the interaction of diverse social roles and institutional orders in the same domestic space.

The article presents five selected architectural objects of Częstochowa, a city located in the southern part of Poland, known all over the world for the foot pilgrimage, the goal of which is Jasna Góra. It is presented how architects, when designing ingenious and modern buildings, at the same time revitalize the past, creating architectural and landscape places that disseminate and bring humanistic, historical and natural knowledge closer to both the residents and newcomers. The research concerns buildings that, in contrast to various functions, play an educational role. In each of them, the architects maintain the cultural and spatial continuity of the city, which received the town rights in the fourteenth century.
W artykule zaprezentowano pięć wybranych obiektów architektonicznych Częstochowy miasta, położonego w południowej części Polski, znanego na całym świecie z pieszego pielgrzymowania, którego celem jest Jasna Góra. Przedstawiono, w jaki sposób architekci projektując pomysłowe i nowoczesne obiekty budowlane, jednocześnie dokonują rewitalizacji starych z odległą przeszłością, tworząc miejsca architektoniczno-krajobrazowe upowszechniające i przybliżające wiedzę humanistyczną, historyczną, przyrodniczą zarówno mieszkańcom, jak i przybyszom.

Opis:
Inquiry based science education has been more and more popular strategy in teaching sciences in recent years. Transregional pressure put by international, standardized knowledge and skills tests (e.g. PISA) to converge curricula (Rundgren 2015) of diferent European states paradoxically helps to promote the open inquiry method which involves the student in the teaching process. Earlier research done in many countries such as Turkey, Israel, Sweden, The Czech Republic (Heinz et al. 2017), Ireland (Dunne et al. 2013) or The Netherlands (Uum van Martina et al. 2016) shows the increase of interest in IBSE both in Europe and in the world. Teaching geography in Polish primary schools follows international educational trends. This study analyses several proposals of educational activities connected with Space which support geography teaching. All of them are conducted with using open inquiry method, which is recommended in New National Curriculum of geography (Core Curriculum, 2017, Geography-classes V-VIII).

Influence that information and communication technologies exert forces changes on educational system and at the same time education is searching for new, modern and innovative solutions. Integration processes that go along with this are additional force that makes responding to new challenges inevitable. It is impossible for each citizen to create his/her own, well-formed knowledge and to take responsibility for this activity without a fundamental change in education system, e.g. without resigning from teaching in aid of developing learning processes and shaping the ability to absorb future technologies. The article presents pedagogical and social aspects of changes which take place in the area of information technologies and influence they exert on extending the man's educational space both internal and external one. It touches on issues related to penetration of mediated space and cyberspace into it and formation of new forms and methods of communication.
