The presented study aims at increasing positive attitude of students as good citizens through the integration of character education in social studies with CTL approach. This research was classroom action research and the subjects of this research were 38 fifth-grade pupils of Elementary School SD Negeri 07 Panreng Sinjai. The study involved collaborators that were fifth-grade teachers who acted as the implementing action. Data were obtained through a test scale of attitude as the main data and supporting data were collected through observation and self-report. The research showed some findings. First, the integration of character education in teaching social studies is conducted by instilling the values of character education in learning with the social studies content and applying some of the components in the CTL. Second, there is continuous improvement of the integration of character education in social studies with the CTL approach from the first cycle to the third cycle. Based on the results of attitude tests on the citizenship subject in the first cycle, there was no student classified as very positive (0%), 44.73% of students were classified as positive, 39.47% negative, and 15.76% very negative. In the second cycle, there were 23.68% of students classified as very positive, 44.73% positive, 26.31% negative, and 5.26% very negative. In the third cycle, there were 18.42% of students classified as very positive, 78.94% positive, 2.63% negative and 0% very negative. Thus, the integrated character education in social studies can improve the attitude of a good citizen in fifth-grade pupils of SD Negeri 07 Panreng Sinjai.

Opis:
The paper presents a proof-theoretic semantics account of contextual domain restriction for quantified sentences in a fragment of English. First, the technique is exemplified in the more familiar first-order logic, and in its restricted quantification variant. Then, a proof-theoretic semantics for the NL fragment is reviewed, and extended to handling contextual domain restriction. The paper addresses both the descriptive facet of the problem, deriving meaning relative to a context, as well as the fundamental aspect, defining explicitly a context (suitable for quantifier domain restriction), and specifying what it is about such a context that brings about the variation of meaning due to it. The paper argues for the following principle (the context incorporation principle, CIP): for every quantified sentence S depending on a context c, there exists a sentence S′, the meaning of which is independent of c, s.t. the contextually restricted meaning of S is equal to the meaning of S′. Thus, the effect of a context can always be internalized. The current model-theoretic accounts of contextual domain restriction do not satisfy CIP, in that they imply intersection of some extension with an arbitrary subset of the domain, that need not be the denotation of any NL-expression.

Aim. The purpose of this article is to increase human ecological awareness to protect, care for and preserve nature, its application in Indonesian schools is still limited. This study uses a qualitative model and aims to describe ecopedagogical models in biology learning and identify supporting factors in the implementation of the high school program. Methods. This research involved 300 grade 10 students and 20 biology teachers at Kupang High School in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. Observations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation were used to collect data about the implementation profile of the Ecopedagogy model. Results. The results of the study show that: expedagogical learning models must be developed by considering local cultural wisdom, teachers use textual lecture methods in carrying out environment-based learning, learning has not paid attention to local culture. society in a sustainable manner; integration of expedagogical models in media and teaching materials in Biology learning, student enthusiasm if learning is done contextually with an expedagogical approach. Conclusion. Textual learning must be changed to contextual learning. The curriculum in schools is required to be used in limited complexity by involving the local community, in order to train students' abilities to collaborate, communicate, and improve their skills. there is the development of an expedagogical learning model that pays attention to local cultural wisdom in terms of planning, implementation and evaluation of learning through intensive training activities, bearing in mind that teachers do not yet understand the steps for preparing media and teaching materials according to the curriculum.

Marketing is considered as responsible for increasing consumerism and overuse of limited resources. An endeavour to promote sustainable consumption is the need of the hour and an answer to growing concerns towards it is required. Marketing can be used as a tool to promote sustainability and increase responsible consumption. Many products which have energy saving potential can be successfully promoted through marketing activities. Increasingly, consumers are becoming aware about the issue and through constant marketing efforts green products and sustainable consumption can be taken to a high level. Contextual factors like value for money, features and selling point communication can play a crucial role in increasing the purchase of green products. Several studies are being conducted in this area but there is still a need for more research particularly in India. This paper will be a contribution to the existing area of knowledge and will focus on discovering the role which marketing can play in promoting sustainability among consumers in India. The factors which are responsible for sustainable consumption are explored and a conceptual model has been suggested which may help marketers in promoting green products and provide a platform for further research.

The subject of this study is the non-repudiation security service for network communication using TCP/IP stack. Generated evidence, as well as decision-making process of registering a given event, are context-aware. Non-repudiation is equipped with context-awareness by using widely utilized network tools. The aim of this paper is to present timing results for selected tools execution and to complete the evidence generation time. In some applications it is crucial to gather evidence data as fast as possible because of the rapidly changing network environment. For such situations, in case of prolonged execution time, an output from a tool might imprecisely describe the contextual situation from the time of the occurrence of an event.

Affective learner factors were first considered as a cause of success in language learning. This was followed by a change in approach and recently authors (e.g., Edelenbos, Johnstone, & Kubanek, 2006) have considered them an important outcome, especially in early foreign language learning (FLL). Current research into affective learner factors in early FLL tries to catch the developmental aspects too, and studies are emerging that take a contextual view as well. This paper describes a study on affective characteristics of young FL learners that combines the developmental and contextual perspectives. Using the case study methodology the author analyses the affective profiles of three young learners of English as a foreign language who were followed for 4 years. The analyses are done taking into account their immediate language learning environment, home support, out-of-school exposure to English and language achievement. The findings suggest that affective learner factors contribute to the dynamic complexity of early FLL.

This article builds on recent sociological debates about the explanatory importance of claims-making contexts and the continuing challenges associated with subjectivism and objectivism in social problems research. The sociology of knowledge is used to illustrate how the contextual compromise that has sustained social problems theory and method for at least two decades is based on a number of erroneous assumptions about subjectivity and objectivity in the tradition of phenomenological analysis. To strengthen recent discussions about the contextual dimensions of claims-making activities and framing techniques, the article critically assesses the curious neglect and continuing misrepresentation of the sociology of knowledge in constructionist analyses of social problems.

Opis:
Teachers in various contexts worldwide are sometimes unfairly criticized for not putting teaching methods developed for the well-resourced classrooms of Western countries into practice. Factors such as the teachers’ “misconceptualizations” of “imported” methods, including Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), are often blamed, though the challenges imposed by “contextual demands,” such as large class sizes, are sometimes recognised. Meanwhile, there is sometimes an assumption that in the West there is a happy congruence between policy supportive of CLT or Task-Based Language Teaching, teacher education and supervision, and curriculum design with teachers’ cognitions and their practices. Our case study of three EFL teachers at a UK adult education college is motivated by a wish to question this assumption. Findings from observational and interview data suggest the practices of two teachers were largely consistent with their methodological principles, relating to stronger and weaker forms of CLT respectively, as well as to more general educational principles, such as a concern for learners; the supportive environment seemed to help. The third teacher appeared to put “difficult” contextual factors, for example, tests, ahead of methodological principles without, however, obviously benefiting. Implications highlight the important role of teacher cognition research in challenging cultural assumptions.

Opis:
A new metaphor of two-dimensional text for data-driven semantic modeling of natural language is proposed, which provides an entirely new angle on the representation of text: not only syntagmatic relations are annotated in the text, but also paradigmatic relations are made explicit by generating lexical expansions. We operationalize distributional similarity in a general framework for large corpora, and describe a new method to generate similar terms in context. Our evaluation shows that distributional similarity is able to produce high-quality lexical resources in an unsupervised and knowledge-free way, and that our highly scalable similarity measure yields better stores in a WordNet-based evaluation than previous measures for very large corpora. Evaluating on a lexical substitution task, we find that our contextualization method improves over a non-contextualized baseline across all parts of speech, and we show how the metaphor can be applied successfully to part-of-speech tagging. A number of ways to extend and improve the contextualization method within our Framework are discussed. As opposed to comparable approaches, our framework defines a model of lexical expansions in context that can generate the expansions as opposed to ranking a given list, and thus does not require existing lexical-semantic resources.

Th is study includes a case study that analyzes the importance of the use of contextual intelligence related to the leadership of the president of the Murcia region (Spain), Ramón Luis Valcárcel, one of the most popular presidents who served as a Spanish regional leader for the longest amount of time. Data were gathered from three representative surveys conducted in three consecutive regional election campaigns (2003, 2007, 2011) to measure the extent to which Valcarcel’s leadership public perceptions were associated with his strategic link to specifi c issues and attributes. Results showed correlations between his public image and perceptions about public prioritized issues each time and attributes connected with citizen expectations demonstrating the eff ectiveness of the contextual factors for constructing political leadership along time.

Taking the standpoint of monotonicity reasoning, this paper provides a systematic way of looking at the inference pattern mou in the Mohist text. We have taken a logical, as well as a linguistic perspective, emphasizing features of classical Chinese, the role of context, and making use of any possible clues that we can find from the old text. By applying monotonicity rules we provide a uniform account of why shi er ran examples are valid inferences, and shi er buran examples are counter-examples.

In this qualitative study the author focuses on age effects on young learners’ L2 development by comparing the L2 learning processes of six young learners in an instructed setting: three who had started learning English as L2 at age 6/7 and three who had started at age 9/10. Both earlier and later young beginners were followed for three years (during their second, third and fourth year of learning English). The participants’ L2 development was measured through their oral output elicited by a two-part speaking task administered each year. Results of the analyses are interpreted taking into account each learners’ individual characteristics (learning ability, attitudes and motivation, self-concept) and the characteristics of the context in which they were learning their L2 (attitudes of school staff and parents to early L2 learning, home support, in-class and out-of-class exposure to L2, socio-economic status). The findings show that earlier and later young beginners follow different trajectories in their L2 learning, which reflects different interactions which age enters into with the other variables.

Opis:
In this paper there is described a possibility of context switching into a lossless compression system. The context is determined based on the features of the previous signal samples. Each context is associated with an individual predictor. The idea of context switching allows us to choose one of the set of a few predictor models individually for each sample instead of each frame. Consequently, the system adjusts fast in case of rapid signal changes. The system was implemented using the ImpulseC hardware description language and implemented on an FPGA platform.
1). Przedstawiono metodę statyczną uwzględniającą zależności międzykanałowe, a także kodowanie międzykanałowe z przełączaniem kontekstów. Aby sprawdzić możliwości uogólnienia i uproszczenia pomiarów, wybrano zestaw utworów muzycznych. Proponowana metoda w 60% przypadków skutkowała zmniejszeniem średniej bitowej. Dysponując pełnym zestawem wyników użycia 140 deskryptorów dla wybranych utworów, można spróbować wybrać kilka deskryptorów dających najlepsze rezultaty, a następnie zastosować je do innych utworów testowych. Zaproponowany algorytm został zaimplementowany w układzie FPGA z rodziny Virtex 5 wykorzystując język opisu sprzętu ImpulseC (tab. 3).
