Opis:
In the era of participation culture and sharing, the most important value is communication. Every aspect of information and idea exchange is valuable, but there is one type of communication that is precious above all of the others. Taking into consideration all the aspects of the culture of participation such as: creativity, innovation, being up-to-date with pop culture trends, we can say that essential for this type of culture sharing is the idea of new content, created in the process of transforming available culture creations (mashup/remix). In other words, it is based on creating something new with new meaning and new context, using the resources of pop and mass culture. One of the possible channels of distribution for this new content is a YouTube platform. This communication medium is part of Google inc. and as a web page is representing Web 2.0 idea. This research is focused on the content published by YouTube users (youtubers, vloggers) that was creatively designed (remixed) in correlation to well know pop-culture publications. This research will try to estimate the importance of content mixing via YouTube platform and answer the following questions: What message is this kind of content sharing sending? What types of vlog formats are the most popular at the moment? How does a creative transformation of cultural and pop-cultural context work? Is there something like a community between the youtubers?

The main purpose of this paper is to reflect upon the question to what extent contemporary politics is only the “eristic technique” skilled at introducing pathos and instrumentally appealing to logos and ethos. Aristotle’s rhetorical triad-logos, ethos, pathos-makes rhetoric the art of persuasive or honest communication. Applying methods developed by psychoanalysis and in reference to the work of Freud, Lacan, Searle, Laclau, Ranciere and Foucault author reflect on the premises, the shape and the consequences of contemporary sophistic politics. Author is tempted to test the intuition according to which the prototype of a method of communication is catachresis, a figure of speech in which a word or phrase has vastly departed from its traditional, paradigmatic usage.

The article discusses the issue of man’s participation in public life in the context of communication processes which play an important role in shaping the consciousness of community. Every community exists because of the relationships between the people involved in it. Thus, communication is the most perfect way for people to express themselves within the community. This relational dependency between the community and communication becomes the core of public participation. Persuasive communication plays the dominant role there, which is significantly important at the moment of message authentication. Persuasive communication has its foundation in the art of rhetoric and has been present in public life since the ancient Greece. Today, however, the mass media seem to dominate the communication in society by using means of persuasion and the public discourse detached from the context of interpersonal relationships.

The reception of Benedict Anderson’s ideas was very fruitful in many disciplines, and his work provided key concepts that can now throw a clarifying light in some blurry matters. The expression “imagined community” has known a remarkable proliferation, a situation that led to both the formation of a research direction and to the perpetuation of a cliché. In this respect, my article pointed out some suggestive characteristics of virtual communities, explaining why the imagined community is a valuable subject for the theorists of new media. The impossibility to know in person all the members of a big community is just one factor that determines its imagined face. Moreover, the set of values and inner presuppositions that guide the members are important bricks in the construction of community. In my opinion, the virtual community is imagined as a multi-layered experience (technological, conversational, relational etc.). The dynamic of a virtual community contains the tension amongst these layers and the degree of its imagined side depends on multiple factors. In order to illustrate these aspects, I gave a brief example by analysing a Romanian virtual community, using the triad common language – temporality – high centers. In spite of its limitations, the perspectives offered by this concept are still useful for understanding the nature of online communities. Thus, the imagined community is a valuable set of beliefs and practices that underlie and bolster the effective meaning and functioning of the virtual communities.

Discourses include representations of how things are, have been, might, could or should be and all discourses are inherently positioned. By comparing the discourse features from the The Financial Times “Lex” column from the period 1996 to 2006, we will consider what discoursal choices have been employed in order to establish and maintain knowledge in this specialized discourse and consider whether the writer/reader relationship has changed.

Opis:
In the contemporary world, communication goes far beyond the well-known traditional written or spoken forms. For today's digital users, these have become insufficient, as using them, they cannot express their thoughts fully. The youth that has developed its own language, has become more hermetic, but not because it rejects other generations. The reason is the inability of older generations to understand the new ways of communication. Seniors find it challenging to learn how to use new technologies and stay up to date with trends. Although young people are able to understand them, the older generation cannot keep up with the news and stays excluded. The lack of mutual understanding results in weaker bonds. Once again, it is possible to observe ICT as a contemporary key competence essential for an adequate, mutually comprehensible exchange of messages. The best way to connect two generations in this aspect is informal education, especially one focusing on intergenerational activities, which will not only reduce the exclusion of a social group such as seniors but will also let them to develop their critical thinking skills, which in the age of the Internet are crucial. Bringing up both generations in two different 'normalities' does not make any of them inferior but simply different. Investing in education, the desire for self-development and learning about the culture of different generations will not only open people's minds but will also have a positive impact on the development of intergenerational solidarity and mutual understanding.

This article contributes to the discussion on societal changes and their impact on communication disciplines by focusing on public relations and its role in contemporary global society. The thesis is that the public relations profession has been affected by contemporary societal changes that challenge the existing body of knowledge and its underpinning theories. To understand the role of public relations in 21st century global societies and pursuing future public relations theorizing, the authors argue it is paramount to comprehend which factors at macro, meso, and micro levels lie beneath the substantial changes in today’s global society. The article presents and reflects on four major macro trends of contemporary global society and concludes with suggestions for future directions for public relations scholarship and practice that are rooted in the concept of community and the idea of being part of and at the service of a community.

Opis:
This article attempts to diagnose social communication in post-1989 Poland. It analyses the issue against the larger backdrop of the most familiar communication theories formulated by representatives of the contemporary humanities (Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of creative discourse, Lyotard’s dialogue as the differentiation of rationality,Waldensfels’s category of understanding and communication,Charles Taylor’s communitarianism). Another important reference point in addition to these theoretical conceptualisations is the philosophy of Józef Tischner who devoted many of his essays to dialogue in Polish social life, both in communist times and after the fall of the communist regime. The author proposes a diagnosis of the crisis of social communication in Poland. This crisis is rooted in the weakening of community bonds and the resulting lack of foundations on which dialogic society, based on trust and receptiveness to new experiences and ideas, the prerequisites for civil activity, could be constructed. Two forms of communication have taken its place: individualistic communication (the individual’s world is constricted to personal experiences) and collectivistic communication (the individual unreflectively accepts the current social stereotypes and views them as obvious truths). Such an attitude leads to the development and fortification of the “culture of distrust” syndrome with its extremely significant social consequences. This is particularly visible in the context of the quality of public debate and the relations between the government and society. Such phenomena as poor voter turnout, negligible participation in voluntary associations, lack of confidence in the authorities and interpersonal relations are all symptoms of the crisis of social communication

The democratization of personal computers and their increasing role as tools of individual empowerment, starting in the second half of the 1980s, brought along new ways of interpersonal communication on what was about to be known as cyberspace (Barlow 1990).             The examples of The WELL, founded by Larry Brilliant and Stewart Brand in 1985, and of the alt. groups created by John Gilmore (Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder) and Brian Reid in 1987, both in the San Francisco Bay Area, illustrate new territories of free speech on an electronic frontier under construction (Rheingold 1993; Dyson 1998).Inspired by the libertarian ideals of the local counterculture and the 1964 Berkeley Free Speech Movement, these two forums of discussion embody a techno-social revolution underway. One where the sharing of information - that may otherwise be judged as taboo in the offline world - is encouraged. Both The WELL and the alt. groups embody the development of virtual communities where online speech not only liberates itself from mainstream society, but also creates novel ways of socializing on a new "augmented territory" (Musso 2010, 76).Based on on-site archival research and personal meetings with the main founders and members of these platforms (Brand, Brilliant, Felsenstein, Gilmore), this paper reflects on how the personal computer and online network access revolutionized communication and communities, both online and offline. How did these groups manage to implement the American constitutional value of free speech on cyberspace? With implications and repercussions (such as "fake news") still tangible nowadays through web 2.0, this paper proposes to shed some light on the digital revolution of the 1980s and 1990s and how it can help us navigate the ongoing controversies occurring on modern social networks.

This article is devoted to an analysis of the “hybrid neighborhood” phenomenon. Traditionally, a Soviet residential yard is presented in urban studies as the sphere of a neighbor’s active participation. The post-Soviet changes have significantly weakened the activities of neighbor communities; however, the spread of digital communication tools (social networks and messengers) has led to an increase in civic engagement in cities (new forms of neighboring communities are created, traditions of spending time together with neighbors revived, and individuals are actively involving in the struggle for their “place in the city”). The empirical materials that are analyzed reveal the features of neighbors interacting demonstrate the differences between “neighbor” and “civil” communication modes, define the role of online communities in local self-government, and practically implement the “right to the city.”

The Catholic Church is fully aware of the role that social communica- tion plays in the modern world. In this regard, she sees the media not only as one of the signs of the times, but also as the place of preaching the Gospel message. Cyberspace is of vital importance here, because it offers a gigantic number and variety of pages related to religious topics. Online presence implies a need to search for new languages and com- munication methods that will effectively reach the recipient with a re- ligious message. There is no doubt that among the various forms of religious expression, witness of the faith of a person practicing occu- pies a particular place. This paper makes a qualitative analysis of forms and ways in which religious testimonies are present in the cyberspace in a literary genre perspective, with particular emphasis on the role of words and images.
Obecność w In- ternecie implikuje konieczność poszukiwania nowych języków i tech- nik przekazu, które pozwolą skutecznie dotrzeć do odbiorcy z religi- jnym przekazem. Nie ma wątpliwości, że wśród różnorodnych form wypowiedzi religijnych szczególne miejsce zajmuje forma świadectwa wiary osoby praktykującej. W artykule poddano analizie jakościowej formy i sposoby obecności świadectw wiary w cyberprzestrzeni w ujęciu genologicznym, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli słowa i obrazu.

Mystagogy is a profound catechetical introduction into the mysteries of faith and into the incomprehensible mystery of God. Initiation is a special function that the Church performs through catechesis. It is mainly connected with the sacraments of Christian initiation; catechesis facilitates the understanding, and educates to the reception, of all the sacraments, introducing into the understanding and life of the Church, into the liturgy and prayer that supports the process of initiation. Christian initiation is a dynamic and personal event and as such it also requires introduction into the personal mystery. It is an introduction to the mystery of humanity; a formation to the true and profound human life. The introduction of the catechised into the personal mystery protects against the institutional and functional treatment of the Church, liturgy, the sacraments, and prayer. Mystagogy, therefore, is an introduction to the depths of God's worship and to the mystery of humanity.

The aim of the paper is to present the results of sociological research “Study of socio-psychological needs of school-age children, displaced from the Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone (ATO)”. Quantitative and qualitative research methods, the survey of parents and teachers who work with IDP children have been applied. Results show IDP children do not have specific needs the satisfaction of which would require a separate intervention. On the contrary, there is a need for maximum integration in the social environment of the host community. The research was conducted within the framework of the project “Integration Through Dialogue”, 2015–2017, with the support of the European Commission.

The article discusses the problem of new pastoral communication that, due to the changes taking place in the Church and in the world, should have a communal character. Nowadays, pastoral communication is a significant research area of Pastoral Theology whose aim is to study the life and activity of the modern Church. Today’s Christians very often feel afraid and lost. For this reason, the teaching of the Gospel does not yield the expected fruit. This is why, the teaching of Christ should be proclaimed in the community in which the confused will experience love and find the meaning and purpose in their lives.
