The aim of this paper is to present the method of reengineering of business processes that perform engineer-to-order production in a manufacturing company. The base of the method is a strategy of the company that applies Balanced Scorecard technique. The reengineering of critical business processes in the enterprise is assigned to the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning system. The method facilitates the quantitative evaluation of business process improvements in the enterprise and the support for assigning the Total Cost of Ownership of the ERP system.

Research background: Recent decades may undoubtedly be deemed as a period of exceptional transformation on a global scale. One element of this transformation is the reorganisation of traditional ways of business management (on all ontological levels). As a result, agile approach is increasingly often considered one of the key aspects of building the competitive advantage of a company. In this paper, agile approach is understood as the businesses' capability of responding promptly to market needs. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to present the research results on the use of agile approach in chosen organizations. More specifically, the main purpose of this article is to describe how organizations are transformed with use of the agile approach. Methods: In accordance with the goal of the article, the organizations selected for empirical research are characterized by revenue increase levels of over 100% (such organizations undergo a dynamic transformation caused by growth), and employment ranging from 10 to 50 employees. The studied companies operate mainly in the IT industry and use technologies to organize the processes of identification and tracking of customer behaviour to a large extent. Several research methods were used in this paper: literature studies, expert interview, participant observation, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Findings & Value added: The article describes the usage level of the agile (and linear) approach in the organizational transformation (through the dynamic growth of revenues), and presents the agile approach model, which can be used as an accelerator of the business' development. In addition, the authors undertook the first (limited and unrepresentative) attempt to evaluate the use of agile approach in the context of such indicators as: communication with customers, profit increase, and minimization of the risk related to introducing a new product on the market.

Purpose: The increasing role of digitalization in the operation of enterprises actualizes the implementation of the basic methods of proper digitalization processes. The selection of an appropriate method to introduce digitalization is crucial, as it affects the optimization level of the business processes. Methodology: Specific multicriteria selection method includes five steps to identify these approaches, considering the relative error for each approach, as it affects the outcome with the performance indicator of business process digitalization. The strongest criterion value is used to identify the optimal approach. The evaluation of the methods showed that the performance of the logistic, administrative, and innovative methods is not worse than the Pareto principle. Findings: Introducing digitalization in the administrative method has the biggest impact. The chosen method showed that Human Resources processes require modification to reduce costs. A mechanism to digitalize the personnel management processes using artificial intelligence was developed. Implications: The results of multivariate multicriteria analysis show that the implementation of artificial intelligence minimizes human factors and optimizes time and costs. Originality: The main contribution is the development of the method for the selection of an appropriate digitalization approach, which encompasses an implementation mechanism that can be adapted to enterprises’ needs.

The article outlines the concept of an extension for innovative e-system for managing the lifecycle of documents at different levels of sensitivity, including the function of continuous tracking of consignments from one protected zone to another. The operations of the module are based on the use of RFID tags for the documents. At particular stages of transport, the tags are read to allow automatic identification of the contents of the shipment. The transported documents are secured in special burglar-proof containers. Additionally, the containers are equipped with GPS and GLONASS location modules. The author also described an IT system which allows to monitor, store and analyze the transport route.

Nowadays innovations became the most important element of the country’s economic development, since they provide a qualitative increase in the efficiency of processes or end production demanded by the market. In this article, the innovation of processes, viz. the processes of logistic management of the production-economic organization is proposed. Innovations in logistics management, as a direction of logistics activity improvement provide the development of new tools (methods, criteria, indices) in methodological logistics’ groundwork, as well as improving the mechanism for the formation and functioning of micro- and macro-logistic systems. The aim of the research is to develop scientific and methodological recommendations for the application of logistics management innovations that involve designing the logistics system through the improvement of the enterprise’s organizational structure as an element of the economic macro environment. Logistic system designing approach is suggested, that anticipates an enterprise’s organizational structure formation under the process-matrix principle (unification of functional and process management approaches) and the establishment of the effective enterprise’s logistic service that plays the role of coordinator and integrator of its business-processes. Efficient organization structure formation, that provides logistics approach implementation in practical enterprises’ activity is grounded by authors. The result of the innovations in logistics management appliance is effective logistic system’s design, in which the coordinated material, informational and financial flows motion is carried out. In the result, it ensures efficient enterprise’s business-processes functioning and organic improvement of its organizational structure.

The article is devoted to the development of a multicomponent adaptive strategy for managing Russian high-tech enterprises in modern crisis conditions. Adaptability and flexibility are considered as the most important indicators of the efficiency of structures, their ability to ensure sustainable operation and effective innovative development of high-tech enterprises. A significant place in the article is devoted to possible approaches and methods of adaptive management of the enterprise in crisis, with the help of which changes in the internal and external environment are monitored, which can be expected and random, make current operational decisions that contribute to the achievement of pre-set goals based on correction of certain tasks. The questions about the quality of adaptation, adaptive characteristics of the structure and their consistency with the level and quality of adaptation of other elements of the enterprise, conjugation of adaptability and flexibility and pace of changes are considered. A number of modern techniques related to the development of strategies for the development of high-tech enterprises in crisis conditions are analyzed. The necessity of conducting a comprehensive accounting of the crisis as the main factor associated with the uncertainty of the external environment at the stage of strategic analysis is substantiated. There is an option, in which it is possible to include the crisis and its main characteristics into the strategic three competence model of the enterprise, as an additional controlled parameter. There is a general specificity of the formation of the strategy of a high-tech enterprise in conditions of risk and uncertainty.

Cloud Computing solutions are nowadays one of the leading issues that small, middle and large enterprises face. The paper presents the benefits of the implementation of cloud solutions in small and medium businesses, factors which can have an influence on the level of the use of cloud systems and appropriate areas in which cloud systems can be used. Moreover, further development of this approach has been described. For academia, the results of the paper can serve as a useful extension for future works in this field. For businessmen, the findings would benefit them in terms of arriving at a decision toward cloud computing implementation and defining better strategies for cloud computing deployments.
Rozwiązania oferowane przez model przetwarzania danych w chmurze stały się obecnie wiodącymi zagadnieniami, którym małe, średnie i duże przedsiębiorstwa muszą stawić czoła. Artykuł prezentuje korzyści z wdrożenia rozwiązań oferowanych przez chmury dla małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, czynników, które mogą wpłynąć na poziom wykorzystywania systemów przetwarzania danych w chmurze oraz właściwe obszary gdzie takie systemy mogą być wykorzystywane. Ponadto, opisano również dalszy rozwój tego zagadnienia. Dla środowiska akademickiego, wnioski z artykułu mogą służyć do dalszych badań w tym obszarze. Dla przedsiębiorców mogą stanowić podstawę do podjęcia decyzji o wdrożeniu systemów przetwarzania danych w chmurze oraz zdefiniowaniu lepszych strategii rozmieszczania takich systemów.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the concept of Routine Dynamics from the perspective of knowledge-intensive business processes. The traditional approach to business processes assumes control of the flow of well-structured activities that the organisation carries out to achieve its goals, and managing them focuses on their improvement through increased efficiency. However, an increasingly important role in the knowledge economy is played by knowledge-intensive business processes, which are highly dependent on human judgment, as well as real knowledge, which requires partially structured and unstructured decision-making. This demands a change in the approach to process management and its improvement, beyond efficiency only. It requires the use of the dynamism of process executors to create value by using and creating knowledge during the execution of pro-cesses. To illustrate this transformation, processes from the healthcare sector were used as a case study, as they encapsulate the limitations of the traditional approach to process management and the need to move to a dynamic one. As a result, two process models were presented, showing the need for a dynamic approach to health process management as a way to create and use rapidly changing knowledge, and to incorporate new technologies that not only increase the efficiency of processes (e.g. automate them), but above all create new knowledge, and use data on patients in real-time.

Defining business processes is a complex notion, determined by numerous factors which inter-act one another and make a cohesive whole. Satisfying client’s needs depends on the ability to face their expectations. A certain “connector” between a company and a destined client is an employee who shall acquire information on buyers’ preferences and effectively satisfy needs generating a profit for a company. A foundation of defining business processes remains effective communication in a company. The biggest factors are qualifications of employees and executive staff as well as a company’s organizational culture. Managing knowledge undoubtedly contributes to reaching particular benefits. Those occurring most often are as follows: improvement of clients’ satisfaction, growth of an enterprise’s effectiveness, improvement of a company’s image, decreasing costs of functioning and many others. Those effects clearly provide organizations a high position on a market and often contribute to reaching a competitive prevails.
