    The purpose of this article is to analyze the influence of the language of EU’s institutions (eurojargon) on the discourse of Polish Members of the European Parliament in the media and during public debates or speeches. The theoretical part presents different academic approaches and chosen literature related to the subject and describes linguistic features of eurojargon in the Polish language. The empirical part is devoted to the qualitative analysis of spoken data of Janusz Lewandowski, Marek Migalski and Jacek Kurski. The analysis focuses on finding the reasons for the usage of eurojargon elements, as well as defining dominating categories of foreign elements in their speeches.

    Celem pracy jest zbadanie wpływu języka instytucji europejskich (eurożargonu)na dyskurs polskich europosłów w mediach, publicznych wystąpieniach i debatach.W części teoretycznej opisano związane z tematem podstawowe zagadnienia i wybranąliteraturę oraz zaprezentowano cechy językowe eurożargonu w języku polskim. Częśćempiryczna jest poświęcona analizie jakościowej wypowiedzi Janusza Lewandowskiego,Marka Migalskiego i Jacka Kurskiego. Analiza dotyczy przyczyn użycia elementóweurożargonu w ich wypowiedziach, a także określenia dominujących w nich kategorii elementówobcych.

    The study was designed to describe and classify Anglicisms in modern medical Latin used for description of medical diagnosis and procedures in medical records. Obligatory use of Latin for that purpose in Poland until 2007 resulted in formation of a number of the English-derived medical terms. On the base of analysis of 250 medical records, Anglicisms were classified into six classes [(1) English terms that have no Latin equivalents; (2) English terms that are commonly used in Latin also they have proper Latin equivalents; (3) mixed English-Latin phrases; (4) syntactic calques; (5) semantic or phraseological calques; (6) English spelling of Latin words]. Mechanisms of development of Anglicisms were discussed. Anglicisms in Latin represent a unique phenomenon, the effect of modern English on the dead language.

    This piece of research presents an analysis of the use of anglicisms in the Spanish press at the beginning of the 21st century. Specifi cally, it concentrates on their distribution in texts belonging to different thematic domains. Thus, the purpose of this study is to establish a ranking of specialised fi elds in terms of the frequency with which anglicisms are employed in them. In order to do so, the Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual (CREA), compiled by the Real Academia Española, is used as the source for texts, which supports the reliability and representativeness of the present work.

    Neologisms indicate linguistic changes in the lexicon. Vocabulary is particularly prone to changes since language communities constantly need new words and phrases to denote new facts or circumstances or they require new expressions for concepts already established. New expressions are often borrowed from other languages. English has had a strong influence on German vocabulary in the last decades. Therefore, German has several English borrowings. These anglicisms differ in their degree of integration into the linguistic system and vary, for instance, with respect to usage, style, and diffusion in the language community. With the help of the Neologismenwörterbuch, it is possible to have an overview of neologisms of English origin in German that integrate different areas of language change.

    Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy problematyki wariantywności zapożyczeń angielskich we współczesnym języku polskim oraz rosyjskim. Materiał empiryczny stanowią warianty anglicyzmów (ortograficzne, fonologiczno‑ortograficzne, akcentuacyjne, morfologiczne) wyekscerpowane przede wszystkim z najnowszych słowników wyrazów obcych, które pojawiły się na rynku wydawniczym w przeciągu ostatnich 15 lat. Istotą podjętej analizy jest ustalenie wspólnych „regularnych odpowiedniości” wariancji anglicyzmów funkcjonujących w obu językach słowiańskich, a także zidentyfikowanie zindywidualizowanych rodzajów wariancji charakterystycznych dla konkretnego języka narodowego. Ważnym celem badania jest także ustalenie przyczyn powstawania tak dużej liczby form alternatywnych w obu językach oraz obnażenie problemów towarzyszących zjawisku wariantywności anglicyzmów. Podjęte rozważania są niezwykle istotne z kilku perspektyw. Po pierwsze, wariantywność zapożyczeń jest sporym problemem i zarazem wyzwaniem dla leksykografów i językoznawców normatywistów, którzy nadal poszukują sposobów standaryzacji ogromu wyrazów obcych o nieustabilizowanej formie. Po drugie, istnienie ekwiwalentów językowych danej jednostki to ewidentna trudność dla przeciętnego użytkownika języka, który jest zdezorientowany, ponieważ nie wie jak pisać lub jak wymawiać nowe słowo, a słowniki nie zawsze dają podpowiedź. Uzyskane wyniki badań mogą być impulsem do podjęcia działań w zakresie uporządkowania zasad adaptacyjnych zapożyczeń i „ujarzmienia” narastającego chaosu w piśmiennictwie obu języków.
    The present work discusses the issues of the variantivity of borrowings from English into modern Polish and Russian. The material for study is variants of English borrowings (based on spelling, spelling and pronunciation, stress pattern, and morphology), excerpted mainly from newest dictionaries of foreign words that have been published over the last 15 years. The analysis aims to determine common “regular correspondencies” of such variants present in the two Slavic languages under discussion, and to identify the individualised variances typical of a particular national language. An important objective of the study is also to specify the reasons why alternative forms have been emerging so numerously in both languages, and to unearth some problems underlying the variantivity of Anglicisms. The research presented in this paper is significant for several perspectives: firstly, variantivity is a challenge to lexicographers and normative linguists still attempting to standardise the enormity of foreign lexical items of an unstable form. Secondly, the fact that a given item has its equivalents poses a problem to average language users who are often confused and do not know how to write or pronounce a word, with dictionaries not necessarily being helpful in this respect. The obtained results may encourage further steps towards the systematization of principles governing the adaptation of borrowings and the attempts to tame the present escalating chaos in Polish and Russian literature on the subject.

    Opis:
    The phenomenon of the language of politics, its origin and development is a very broad subject matter. This paper illustrates new tendencies and processes occurring in the system of this particular language and jargon. Nowadays English and American elements in the Polish language seem very visible especially when overused in the media, by politicians, business people and public figures. Politicians use their own language to communicate with each other and with the people. The language of politics is a type of language it should be characterized by specific features. Such characteristics are the specific terms, phraseology, adopted words and neologisms. Thus, the article presents a collection of words taken di-rectly or indirectly from English into the Polish language. That proves the fact that we all witness a constant growth in the number of English elements in the language of Polish poli-ticians, during the process of political discourse and in the field of political science.
