    Telematics data has been mainly used to track the historical and live locations of vehicles. Recently, with more data available and better telecommunication technologies, fleet managers are able to investigate the root cause of faults, problems or events such as breakdown and incident. With recent development in cloud computing power, advanced analytics and optimisation techniques, fleet telematics can move to the next level, where future events can be predicted and systems can schedule maintenance to avoid breakdowns. Risk of accidents can also be raised and advance warnings given. In this paper, the evolution and current state of analytics and optimisation techniques and models in the area of telematics have been reviewed. Later, the key components, challenges and opportunities of applications of analytics in fleet telematics have been discussed.

    Environmental monitoring is a very important part of all environmental risk assessment tasks aiming correct estimation of the ecological status of water, air, soil, and biota systems. However, special attention is rarely paid to the problem in the teaching programs for students of bachelor or master degree dedicated to environmental chemistry. The same holds true for secondary school programs for chemical education. It is the aim of the present communication to present in a simple and understandable way the major elements of the environmental monitoring as substantial consistent of the overall scheme of environmental risk assessment as presented to chemistry students and secondary school pupils.

    The aim of this paper is to present the benefits of using HR analytics in enterprises. The research sample included 44 practitioners employed in HR departments of Silesian enterprises. In the study a questionnaire was used where 88.6% of people surveyed indicated the benefits of using HR in the area of recruitment, and 83.6% of respondents believe that analytics affects efficiency through the better planning and utilizing of the workforce, and also positively impacts the company’s organizational culture. Employees from large companies demonstrate knowledge of HR analytics to a greater extent than those employed in the SME sector.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie korzyści z zastosowania analityki HR w przedsiębiorstwach. Próba badawcza obejmowała 44 praktyków zatrudnionych w działach HR śląskich przedsiębiorstw. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą ankietową. 88,6% osób wskazało korzyści z zastosowania HR w obszarze rekrutacji, 83,6% respondentów uważa, że analityka ta wpływa na efektywność przez lepsze planowanie i wykorzystywanie siły roboczej, a także korzystnie oddziałuje na kulturę organizacyjną firmy. Pracownicy z dużych firm deklarują większą znajomość analityki HR niż zatrudnieni w sektorze MSP.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie roli i funkcjonalności kokpitów menedżerskich w procesie podejmowania decyzji w przedsiębiorstwie. Dashboard w języku polskim określony jest terminem deska rozdzielcza czy kokpit menedżerski, a w literaturze angielskiej pojawia się m.in. BI dashboard czy interactiv dashboard. W artykule dalej scharakteryzowane zostały kokpity, wskazano ich klasyfikację w zależności od szczebla organizacji i cechy określone akronimem SMART IMPACT. Jeśli wziąć pod uwagę obszar marketingu, najczęściej wykorzystuje się kokpity do segmentacji, badania różnych rodzajów efektywności sprzedaży, lojalności, profilowania klienta, analizy wydajności biznesowej, marketing bezpośredni. W nowoczesnym przedsiębiorstwie proces podejmowania decyzji marketingowych jest wspierany właśnie przez narzędzia IT, jakimi są kokpity marketingowe. A z kolei stosowana w nich analityka marketingowa pozwala na szybsze osiąganie przewagi konkurencyjnej zarówno w dużych, jak i w małych przedsiębiorstwach.

    The application of ICT (information and communication technologies) is enabling the implementation of increasingly comprehensive social security systems throughout the world as well as the transformation of social security services. In particular, the so-called data-driven innovation enables social security institutions to improve products, processes and organisational methods. In this line, social security institutions are progressively applying emerging technologies, such as Analytics, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. While the pairing of analytics and big data allows for the performing of sophisticated analyses on increasingly large databases, Artificial Intelligence enables for automating processes and assisting staff in tasks requiring human decisions. However, the application of such emerging data-driven technologies brings with it many challenges, mainly the complexities of combining the adoption of not fully tested technologies with the required stability of critical operational processes and differences in the application of development processes. This paper addresses these issues and presents an overview of emerging data-driven technologies and their current application in social security institutions. It also presents guidelines supporting the application of data-driven technologies in social security developed by the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
    Zastosowanie technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych (information and communication technologies, ICT) umożliwia wprowadzanie coraz bardziej wszechstronnych systemów zabezpieczenia społecznego na całym świecie, jak również transformację usług z tego obszaru. W szczególności tzw. innowacje oparte na wykorzystaniu danych umożliwiają instytucjom zabezpieczenia społecznego ulepszanie swoich produktów, procesów oraz metod organizacji. Podążając tą drogą, instytucje te stopniowo wprowadzają nowoczesne technologie, takie jak analityka, big data oraz sztuczna inteligencja. Podczas gdy połączenie analityki oraz big data pozwala na przeprowadzanie skomplikowanych analiz coraz obszerniejszych zbiorów danych, wykorzystanie sztucznej inteligencji umożliwia automatyzację procesów oraz wspomaga pracowników podczas zadań wymagających podjęcia decyzji przez człowieka. Stosowaniu takich nowych, opartych na wykorzystywaniu danych technologii towarzyszą jednakże liczne wyzwania, głównie w postaci trudności wynikających z połączenia takich nie w pełni przetestowanych technologii z wymaganym poziomem stabilności procesów operacyjnych oraz różnic w zastosowaniu procesów rozwojowych. Tekst ten omawia wyżej wymienione zagadnienia oraz przedstawia przegląd nowych technologii opartych na danych, a także ich obecne zastosowanie w instytucjach zabezpieczenia społecznego. Przedstawia on także opracowane przez Międzynarodowe Stowarzyszenie Zabezpieczenia Społecznego (International Security Systems Association, ISSA) wytyczne wspierające wykorzystywanie takich technologii w zabezpieczeniu społecznym.

    The purpose of the present work was to analyse the current trends in the usage of a web-based application presenting the local spatial development plan for the Tomice municipality (the eMPZP master plan). Data collection began on January 1, 2013. The values of selected measures of the eMPZP usage were obtained with the aid of the Google Analytics application. Results obtained during the period of over 5 years have been analysed in the present study. The biggest interest in the local plans of Tomice municipality has been noted from two urban centres – the towns of Krakow and of Wadowice. It has been demonstrated that the current monitoring provides information about the usage statistics of the eMPZP application, but it does not provide information about what the users were actually looking for. Also, it fails to facilitate the identification of areas (municipalities, sections, plots of land), which were the most popular, that is those places whose designation in the local plan was checked most frequently.
    Celem pracy była analiza trendów w użytkowaniu aplikacji internetowej prezentującej miejscowy plan zagospodarowania przestrzennego gminy Tomice (eMPZP). Zbieranie danych rozpoczęto 1 stycznia 2013 roku. Wartości wybranych miar użytkowania eMPZP pozyskano przy pomocy aplikacji Google Analytics. Analizie poddano wyniki z okresu ponad 5 lat. Największe zainteresowanie miejscowymi planami Tomic odnotowano z ośrodków miejskich – Krakowa oraz Wadowic. Wykazano, że bieżący monitoring zapewnia informacje o statystykach użytkowania aplikacji eMPZP, lecz nie dostarcza informacji o tym czego szukali użytkownicy. Nie umożliwia także identyfikacji rejonów (gmin, obrębów, działek), które cieszyły się największym zainteresowaniem, tj. miejsc, których przeznaczenie w miejscowym planie sprawdzano najczęściej.

    Nowadays contemporary organizations apply different business analytics tools such as sentiment analysis for the purpose of business functionality improvement and support of decision making processes. Sentiment analysis also called opinion mining allow for gathering and analysis of opinion concerning particular product or service. The aim of the paper is to present the notion of sentiment analysis and its areas of application in contemporary organizations. It also presents practical examples and case studies concerning sentiment analysis application in different areas of business activity.
    Obecnie współczesne organizacje stosują różne narzędzia analityki biznesowej, takie jak analiza opinii w celu ulepszenia funkcjonalności biznesowej i wspierania procesów decyzyjnych. Analiza opinii pozwala na zebranie i analizę opinii dotyczących poszczególnych produktów i usług. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja znaczenia analizy opinii i jej obszarów zastosowań, w tym korzyści wynikających z tych aplikacji we współczesnych organizacjach. Artykuł przedstawia także praktyczne przykłady i studia przypadków dotyczące zastosowań tejże analizy w różnorodnych obszarach działalności biznesowej.

    The goal of this paper is to analyze the socio-ethical challenges connected with utilization of the Big Data phenomenon by organizations. It is composed of five parts. The first part contains a brief overview of the situation related to the ever increasing amounts of data in the contemporary socio-economic sphere. The next is focused on the Big Data phenomenon and the significant sources behind the growth in data. The following part is devoted to an analysis of the opportunities and benefits connected with the utilization of Big Data. The fourth part focuses on the most significant obstacles and challenges connected with Big Data, with special attention paid to social and ethical issues. The final part of the paper contains the most significant conclusions and suggestions.
    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza wyzwań społeczno-etycznych związanych z wykorzystaniem zjawiska Big Data przez organizacje. Składa się on z pięciu części. Pierwsza z nich zawiera krótki przegląd sytuacji związanej z gwałtownym przyrostem ilości danych w sferze społeczno-ekonomicznej. Kolejna koncentruje się na zjawisku Big Data i najważniejszych źródłach przyrostu danych. Następna część poświęcona jest analizie możliwości i korzyści związanych z wykorzystaniem Big Data. Czwarta część artykułu koncentruje się na kluczowych wyzwaniach i przeszkodach związanych z praktycznym wykorzystaniem Big Data, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kwestii społeczno-etycznych. Przedstawiona jest w niej również analiza rozwiązań obecnie stosowanych w tej sferze przez organizacje. Ostatnia część artykułu zawiera najważniejsze konkluzje i sugestie.

    The paper is devoted to the problem of strategic business analytics. The aim of the study is to show business analytics supporting the construction and development of the company development strategy. In order to achieve the assumed goal there has been applied the method of critical analysis of the domestic and foreign literature in the field of business analytics of enterprises domestically and worldwide. In the paper, there have been identified the factors for the use of business analytics. Three priority factors which are the arguments for the application of business analytics in management processes and enterprise development strategies are: speed/ease of deployment (68% of indications), ease of use for business users (65% of indications) and self-service and data discovery tools (61% of indications). Moreover, managers of enterprises with the best economic and financial results, achieving return on assets (ROA) of more than 10%, almost agreeably (90% of indications) claim that analytical tools are necessary for the proper implementation of the strategy and the achievement of increasingly higher economic and financial results. The value of the paper consists in showing a new trend in the development of business analytics, which is to support the process of strategic management and analytical competition.
    Artykuł poświęcono problematyce strategicznej analityce biznesowej. Celem opracowania jest ukazanie roli analityki biznesowej wspomagającej budowę i realizację strategii rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Aby osiągnąć założony cel zastosowano metodę krytycznej analizy literatury krajowej i zagranicznej z zakresu analityki biznesowej oraz przedstawiono badania empiryczne z zakresu stosowania analityki biznesowej przedsiębiorstw na świecie i w kraju. W artykule zidentyfikowano czynniki przemawiające za stosowaniem analityki biznesowej. Trzy priorytetowe czynniki, które przemawiają za stosowaniem analityki biznesowej w procesach zarządzania i strategiach rozwoju przedsiębiorstw to: szybkość i łatwość wdrożenia (68% wskazań), łatwość obsługi przez użytkowników biznesowych (65% wskazań), samoobsługa i wykrywanie danych (61% wskazań). Co więcej, menedżerowie przedsiębiorstw o najlepszych wynikach ekonomiczno-finansowych, osiągających stopę zwrotu kapitału całkowitego (ROA) wyższą niż 10%, prawie zgodnie (90% wskazań) twierdzą, że narzędzia analityczne są niezbędne do właściwej realizacji strategii i osiągania coraz wyższych wyników ekonomiczno-finansowych. Wartość artykułu polega na ukazaniu nowej tendencji w rozwoju analityki biznesowej, jaką jest wspomaganie procesu zarządzania strategicznego i konkurencji analitycznej.

    Purpose: The aim of this paper is to identify roles played by HR departments in Polish innovative enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: A critical analysis of literature, research results and reports analysis helped to achieve the aim. In order to identify the tasks performed by HR departments, D. Ulrich’s model was employed. Findings: The roles most commonly performed by the HR departments of the analysed enterprises were those of administrative expert and employee champion. The roles of strategic partner and change agent were somewhat less commonly undertaken. Moreover, HR departments most commonly undertake activities aimed at creating a good working atmosphere, analysing employees’ competences and allowing them to develop, as well as quick and efficient processing employee matters. Digital transformation results in a change of expectations towards HR departments. The challenges faced by HR departments will revolve around the implementation of IT solutions in enterprises, improving the efficiency of employee management, and coping with the expectations of future employees from generation Y and Z. Practical implications: The HR department should perform new tasks within its roles. Given the simultaneous benefits and concerns related to digital transformation, it will fall to HR departments to assume the role of change agent by ensuring their organisations’ capacity for change, as well as administrative expert responsible for reengineering organisational processes. Originality/value: The tasks and roles played by HR department in innovative enterprises were identified. By analysing trends on the market, it was concluded that the HR departments are facing challenges.

    Internet-based technologies are moving faster and faster into many spheres of our lives and at the same time are a key component of the ongoing technological revolution, which is why there are many ongoing scientific projects aimed at their development. The article presents a discussion on the development of Internet-based technologies known as the Internet of Everything (IoE). The paper presents the areas in which these technologies are most often used. A multi-layered reference model and a procedure for subsequent actions in designing innovative solutions in this area are presented.
    Technologie internetowe wkraczają coraz szybciej w liczne sfery naszego życia i jednocześnie stanowią kluczowy komponent trwającej dziś rewolucji technologicznej, dlatego też prowadzonych jest obecnie wiele projektów naukowych ukierunkowanych na ich rozwój. Artykuł przedstawia dyskusję dotyczącą rozwoju technologii internetowych znanych pod nazwą Internetu wszechrzeczy (IoE). W pracy pokazano obszary, w których technologie te znajdują najczęściej zastosowania. Przytoczono wielowarstwowy model referencyjny oraz procedurę kolejnych działań przy projektowaniu nowatorskich rozwiązań w tym zakresie.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The main aim of the article is to know the information needs of candidates for university courses and indicate the importance of web analytics tools in the university recruitment process. The authors present the recruitment process for data science high study programme that was conducted in the middle of 2021 at one of the biggest universities in eastern Poland. Theoretical background: Digital transformation is an irreversible process today. Data produced by people, things, administration units and business organizations can be the source of valuable information. That transformation causes new possibilities for fast development, but also creates challenges for education processes and professional work. Furthermore, the digital transformation resulted in creating new professions like data science (DS). Because of data volume and its importance DS professionals became one of the most wanted specialists in the 21st century, and therefore many universities try to launch new study programs related to automated data processing and try to get the attention of potential students. Design/methodology/approach: The process was supported with analytics tools Hotjar and Google Analytics. The results presented in the paper base on the analysis of 974 pageviews recorded by Hotjar and activity of 824 page users reported by Google Analytics. Findings: The analysis showed that web analytics tools are very easy to use in the recruitment process, and that gathered data allows for better understanding of candidates' needs and improving the future requirement processes and tools. Results indicated that the most important topics for candidates were study programme and payment. Form the technical point of view the responsiveness of applications used for the recruitment process is crucial because a lot of traffic was generated by both users of desktop computers and mobile devices. The greatest interest in the program was recorded before the holiday months. Originality/value: The research contributes to academia in the field of recruitment. Paper presents the data science high study programme and indicates the importance of web analytics tools in the university recruitment process.

    Opis:
    The paper presents some aspects of a development project related to Industry 4.0 that was executed at Nemak, a leading manufacturer of the aluminium castings for the automotive industry, in its high pressure die casting foundry in Poland. The developed data analytics system aims at predicting the casting quality basing on the production data. The objective is to use these data for optimizing process parameters to raise the products’ quality as well as to improve the productivity. Characterization of the production data including the recorded process parameters and the role of mechanical properties of the castings as the process outputs is presented. The system incorporates advanced data analytics and computation tools based on the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and applying an MS Excel platform. It enables the foundry engineers and operators finding the most efficient process variables to ensure high mechanical properties of the aluminium engine block castings. The main features of the system are explained and illustrated by appropriate graphs. Chances and threats connected with applications of the data-driven modelling in die casting are discussed.

    The goal of the paper is to present the application of Business Intelligence systems belonging to the area of business analytics in the domain of logistics and particularly indicate its role and meaning in supporting logistics decision making processes. Its content embraces the characteristic of BI systems, its functionality, construction and benefits resulting from its implementation. The paper also presents review of research and case studies connected to the BI usage in such areas of logistics as optimization of supply chain, managerial dashboard design and improvement of business processes.

    Opis:
    The digital revolution is changing every aspect of life by simulating the ways humansthink, learn and make decisions. Dentistry is one of the major fields where subsets ofartificial intelligence are extensively used for disease predictions. Periodontitis, the mostprevalent oral disease, is the main focus of this study. We propose methods for classifyingand segmenting periodontal cysts on dental radiographs using CNN, VGG16, and U-Net.Accuracy of 77.78% is obtained using CNN, and enhanced accuracy of 98.48% is obtainedthrough transfer learning with VGG16. The U-Net model also gives encouraging results.This study presents promising results, and in the future, the work can be extended withother pre-trained models and compared. Researchers working in this field can develop novelmethods and approaches to support dental practitioners and periodontists in decision-making and diagnosis and use artificial intelligence to bridge the gap between humansand machines.
