The twenty-first century has brought lots of challenges for people in all spheres, including education. In the new context, traditional approaches often seem ineffective and therefore new tools and methods have to be applied. An alternative approach that might be useful in the given context is design thinking – the approach that originated in architecture, design and art, and nowadays is applied in many fields. It is a human-centered problem-solving approach that may be used in the teaching/learning process to develop twenty-first century skills and enhance creativity and innovation. This paper introduces readers to the origin of design thinking, its attributes and processes as well as its application in pedagogy.

The paper deals with application of soft-skills competence in practice comparing of education and employers requirements. In addition to what a graduate is to know in terms of the knowledge theoretically acquired, the labour market today defines quite clearly the specific requirements in terms of what a graduate should be able to do, provide for, organize, including the demands related to their competences. The purpose of the paper is to assess the ethical credibility of selected subjects in the field of soft skills based on the analysis and conclusions of research conducted in 2018-2019 at the Technical University in Zvolen. The method of questionnaire survey was chosen for the execution of the research. The paper presents the results of the selected area research of soft-skills, which showed the most significant differences – stress resistance. To evaluate the results was used the Mann-Whitney test of significance which is an especially appropriate test for two independent and randomly selected sets of sample observations. At the end of paper are proposed recommendations for improving teaching in accordance with the requirements of practice.

Teamwork has distinct pedagogic advantages and is also an important transferable skill and the dominant mode of work graduates encounter in the workplace. However, students rarely become proficient in teamwork skills during their education. The goal was to test strategies to improve teamwork skills in a course on Ores deposits, MSc Earth Science, Uppsala University. A focus on teamwork was established by presenting the collaborative practicals as a series of linked opportunities to work together, get feedback on the teamwork process and reflect on and evaluate the teamwork. During the collaborative PBL sessions sociograms were used to provide feedback. Criteria based evaluation was also used to evaluate task oriented and interpersonal skills. Sociograms and criteria based evaluation promoted behavioural changes that improved teamwork interactions.

In response to current economic theories, a special emphasis is put on the need for continuous acquisition of knowledge. The stock of knowledge, however, is growing very dynamically, which leads to shifts in the scientific process. There are shifts in individual innovative productivity, which is manifested by the fact that the contribution of young scientists to science is getting smaller and – as a result of deepening of specialization – the dominance of teamwork increases. These two fundamental changes taking place in science should imply changes in the approach to science policy. In the face of “ageing” of innovators, policy makers should put more emphasis on creating incentives for young people to enter scientific careers (higher wages in science, more attractive grants at the peak of scientific career; contrary to popular beliefs, grant systems should not be created specifically for young people). A measure increasing the interest in scientific careers could also be a shortening of education which, however, is difficult to achieve. A response of science policy to the increasing dominance of teamwork should be (1) implementation of changes in the remuneration system for researchers, which should evolve from individual-oriented rewarding to team-oriented rewarding, as well as (2) implementation of changes in the evaluation system, which should be aimed towards team evaluation.

The present study aims to investigate the efficacy of the collaborative learning method on the translation skills of students at the undergraduate level through a new model developed by the researchers. To this end, a pre-/post-test control group research design was followed to obtain empirical results in the translation of medical texts. The study group consisted of 60 undergraduate translation students in Turkey. Thirty students in the control group were instructed by using conventional training methods and each student worked individually. The completed translation was then evaluated by the instructor, as commonly applied in undergraduate translation programmes. The other 30 subjects in the experimental group were instructed through the collaborative learning method. The students participated in teamwork and undertook various roles such as terminologists, translators, proof-readers, and peer editors to check the final work. At the end of the three-week training, the difference between the translation performance scores of the two groups was found statistically significant in favour of the experimental group. The findings demonstrate the significant contribution of the collaborative learning method to the undergraduate students as this method provides them with an environment to improve the necessary translation skills for their future careers in terms of adopting different roles other than translators.

Team cohesion, teamwork and team building are important constructs regarding teams and their performance in various organizations and environments. In this review, we summarize the current state of research on the influence of digital games on team cohesion and related constructs. We found a total of 7 studies that fit the criteria, resulting in 18 outcomes. Among the 18 outcomes that improved throughout the intervention, 15 reported significant improvement from the intervention and 3 reported no significant differences. Specifically, team communication, task delegation, atmosphere, trust, team flow, team performance and goal commitment were the most improved sub-constructs by team building video gaming interventions. The majority (n = 9) of those with significant improvements post-test were from randomly controlled trials (RCTs) with single or two control groups. Overall, we found that team video gaming may be effective in supporting team cohesion or team building; however, to enhance the understanding of the relationship between digital games and team cooperation, it is recommended to extend or vary gameplay intervention times, prioritize diverse outcome measures, address reporting biases, conduct follow-up assessments, include diverse populations and report demographics, and recognize the specific effects of different game features on outcomes.

Opis:
The theatre established by the Industrial and Handicraft Youth Association is a representative of the amateur theatre movement, typical for Krakow during the inter-war period. However, it has one remarkable feature – it was created by young people from very diverse social backgrounds, far from the gymnasium elite, often illiterate. They were connected by common passion and artistic needs, awakened by the creative educational concept of Father Mieczysław Kuznowicz. The aim of the theatre on Skarbowa Street was to use appropriate dramatic texts to develop religious, national and social feelings among the members of the association, to teach proper communication in the mother tongue and to form the habits of cultural behaviour and solid teamwork. The form of the youth theatre adopted in the association seems to correspond with the concept known from the theatrical stages of Jesuit schools. The author attempts to answer the following question: ”To what extent did the experiences of Kuznowicz, a graduate of the Scientific and Educational Department of the Jesuits in Chyrów, influence the shape of the theatrical stage in Krakow?”
Teatr Związku Młodzieży Przemysłowej i Rękodzielniczej w Krakowie – chyrowskie inspiracje księdza Mieczysława Kuznowicza.

Opis:
Purpose: The paper aims to assess difficulties in ensuring justice in temporary teams. Three research questions were asked: do managers think that ensuring justice in temporary teams is difficult?; which determinants of a sense of justice in temporary teams do managers consider the most difficult/easiest?; is the degree of difficulty associated with ensuring each of the four types of justice in the work of the temporary team the same? Design/methodology/approach: The survey was carried out in June and July of 2021. The non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was used to assess the statistical significance of differences in the difficulty level in ensuring justice in temporary teams. Findings: Managers ranked distributive justice as the most difficult to provide, followed by procedural justice, informational justice and interpersonal justice, respectively. Respondents ranked 4 factors as the most difficult to provide: the information needed for the work of the temporary team is provided just in time; each member of the temporary team is appreciated (tangibly and intangibly) according to their contribution to the team, the task team (as a whole) is appreciated, tangibly and intangibly, according to the effort put into the task and a temporary team leader will customize communication to suit the individual needs of members of the temporary team. Research limitations/implications: The first limitation is related to the research sample. Entities from a few selected industries were included. The second limitation is related to the fact that temporary teams differ, and sometimes these differences are significant. Another limitation is the composition of the research group. It included managers. In order to fully recognize the situation, it would be necessary to know the opinions of other employees. Practical implications: The results of the research may be helpful for managers in various types of organizations. They allow for a better understanding of temporary teams' regulations. In addition, they indicate those issues that should be given special attention in order to manage such teams reasonably. Originality/value: Although the topic of teamwork appears in academic publications, only a few relate justice in temporary work teams. This paper deals with this topic and focuses on difficulties with fair team management.

The aim of the study was to explore the factors that determine students’ team effectiveness. The study investigated the relations between three types of team effectiveness (performance, behavior, attitude) and five attributes of teamwork: common purpose, communication and problem resolution, role clarity and psychological safety. In the study, quantitative research was performed among undergraduate Polish students of management who had to conduct a real non-profit project that would tackle a social issue. The questionnaire used in the study was specifically developed. The results show that three components of team effectiveness have different patterns of predictors. The perceived quality of goal achievement (TE Performance) depends on common purpose, role clarity and communication and problem resolution whereas willingness to continue teamwork (TE Behavior) depends on role clarity and psychological safety. The study contributes to understanding which team attributes are crucial for team effectiveness and how to assist students to become excellent team players. The study offers guidelines regarding the type of team experience that is necessary to foster commitment to team work among students. Moreover, acknowledging that effectiveness is more than goal attainment, the study shows the most beneficial attributes of teams. In the presented study, unlike in many studies concerning students’ teams, all of the participants had to conduct a real non-profit project that would tackle a social issue of their choice. All the projects had to meet rigid criteria of completion and timelines. Moreover, the sample was homogenous in terms of previous teamwork experience, level of project management knowledge, age, level of support from third parties during the project. The research provides a unique opportunity to investigate experience of a relatively large sample that shares similar teamwork experience in a clearly defined setting. JEL: A20, J24
Uczestnikami badania byli polscy studenci studiów licencjackich na kierunku Zarządzanie, badanie dotyczyło jakości pracy zespołowej podczas realizacji projektów społecznych we współpracy z platformą edukacyjną „Zwolnieni z teorii”. W przeciwieństwie do wielu badań na temat pracy zespołowej wśród studentów, analizowane w badaniu projekty z dużą wiernością odwzorowują realia biznesowe. Wszyscy uczestnicy musieli sami opracować pomysł, znaleźć partnerów, zaprosić beneficjentów, zdobyć fundusze i zrealizować projekt.
