Opis:
The article presents the results of a study on the role of social participation (Reinders) in shaping the identity (Luyckx et al.) of people with mild intellectual disability in late adolescence and emerging adulthood compared to those in intellectual norm (N = 127). Three waves of measurement were carried out at semi-annual intervals, using the Dimensions of Identity Development Scale (DIDS/PL-1) and the Social Participation Questionnaire (SPQ-S). In all the waves people with intellectual disability had a higher level of the moratorium orientation, and at Wave 3 they had a higher level of the transitive orientation. Differences in the levels of identity dimensions were observed in only one wave and only in the case of exploration in depth. The type of social participation has proved to be a factor differentiating the levels of identity dimensions, especially commitment making and identification with commitment, the highest level of which was observed in people with integration and assimilation types. The study responds to the need, expressed in the literature, to focus on specific groups in identity development studies.

Opis:
A growing awareness of civic participation resulted in the fact that, at the turn of the 20th and 21st century, local authorities of the world’s countries decided to hand over some social tools to citizens. This article presents one of the most important participatory tools – participatory budgeting. A detailed analysis of the process was made on the example of the City of Szczecin, including the provisions of the Szczecin Participatory Budgeting Regulations, in force since 2019. The changes, which were introduced as a result of legal regulations of the legislator, made it necessary to update the rules of conducting this procedure in Szczecin. Three main elements on which participatory budgeting should be based are identified and, on this basis, the provisions of the Szczecin Participatory Budgeting Regulations are analysed. An attempt has been made to compare and identify significant differences between the usual way of conducting public consultations and the participatory budgeting process. The deliberations close with an assessment of the direction and manner of introducing changes in participatory budgeting in Szczecin.

The aim of the article: The main aim of the article is to present the essence and significance the institution of civic budget as a tool not only allowing citizens to actively participate in the process of deciding about the directions of spending public funds, but also a tool to determine the directions of social expectations, the essence and importance of social participation. Hypothesis: The hypothesis accepted in the study stipulates that the growing popularity of the civic budget makes it an effective tool for social participation. Methodology: The study was based on a literature review, legal acts, information on the functioning of the civic budget in Lodz as well as a questionnaire conducted among the city residents. Results of the research: The civic budget in Lodz has been functioning for eight years, and during this time it has been constantly contributing to the idea of citizen involvement in the decision-making process. Although the budget procedure itself is undergoing numerous corrections and transformations, as the ongoing political, social and macroeconomic changes must be taken into account, it is still a basic tool enabling active participation and involvement of citizens. The matters it concerns are important to the community, and the civic budget offers an opportunity to express their opinions on key issues. The conducted survey indicates that Lodz is a positive example of using the participatory budget mechanism in the city management process. The sustained high (on a Polish scale) turnout confirms the inhabitants’ interest and willingness to change the public space, thus positively influencing the building of a sense of local community.

The natural environment is of great importance when it comes to developing a city, as it shapes its spaces, defines its roles and performs climatic and protective functions. Industrialization often requires removing landscape obstacles and vegetation to erect new buildings. An urban planner should be aware of the borders that must not be crossed. Designing new streets and buildings should follow a sustainable growth pattern, if the city landscape and its climatic conditions are to improve for the generations to come. This paper discusses the aspects of planning and managing urban spaces in such a way so as to provide their users with healthy and comfortable living conditions. The paper is based on a survey conducted to gather the opinions of members of a city community on the environment in which they live.

The aim of the article is to present the assumptions behind the concept of Career Adaptability proposed by Mark Savickas and to present the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the Career Adapt-Ability Scale. It consists of five dimensions: concern, control, curiosity, confidence and cooperation. The analyses were carried out with the participation of young adults (N = 664; 63% female, 37% male) aged 18–34 (M = 24.4, SD = 2.9). The reliability of the instrument was assessed using the internal consistency method. Evidence for the construct validity was obtained through confirmatory analysis and correlation with other, conceptually related variables, such as social participation and ambiguity tolerance in a career-related decision situation, measured using four indexes – preference, tolerance, confidence and aversion. The results obtained indicate very good psychometric properties of the questionnaire. High levels of career adaptability are characteristic of two types of social participation – integration and assimilation. Higher levels of all five components of the Career Adapt-Ability Scale are also accompanied by greater acceptance of unknown, complex, inconsistent and unpredictable information when taking professional decisions.

This paper aims to answer the question: Through what activities the Stocznia Foundation ensures the idea of social participation in society? That idea assumes that social groups actively participate for the benefit of social development in cooperation with municipal authorities and third-sector organizations. Stocznia is a non-governmental organisation and an aid institution providing services in the areas that improve building a conscious, safe and wise society, actively involved in the activities for the common good. The Od diagnozy do strategii project organized by the Stocznia Foundation, is the document that describes the citizens’ participation in public projects and the process of planning an effective strategy for achieving selected goals. The Foundation is an integral part of the preparation strategy for civic participation, which is based on the analysis of the practical involvement of stakeholder groups in the creation of real plans for the development of the local environment. This article is part of the research devoted to the Stocznia Foundation and its activities for the benefit of the society, especially the idea of social participation and the security sphere related to it.

The article presents the results of research on relationships between types of social participation and emotion regulation. In the study, Gratz’ and Roemer’s (2004) perspective on emotion regulation and Reinders’ and Butz’s (2001) concept of types of social participation were applied. Participants were 1151 students from three types of vocational schools: basic vocational school (n=266), technical upper secondary school (n=644), and specialized upper secondary school (n=241). The results of studies conducted with the use of Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) and Social Participation Questionnaire (SPQ-S 1) indicate that there are small, however, significant, differences in the levels of social participation dimensions and the frequency of particular types of social participation between students from the three investigated types of vocational schools. The level of transitive orientation turned out to be higher among students from the basic vocational schools than among students from the specialized upper secondary schools and the technical upper secondary schools. In each educational group, the level of transitive orientation was significantly higher than the level of moratorium orientation. The hypothesis about the relationship between dimensions of emotion regulation and types of social participation, particularly with respect to the dimension of “lack of emotional awareness”, was confirmed. The most effective style in terms of emotion regulation turned out to be the assimilation type. The highest level of emotion dysregulation proved to be connected with the segregation type.

Public space in cities is widely seen as a developmental resource. It thus becomes a kind of urban product, and a lure for a range of groups of current and potential users. Cities compete for prestige and standing by creating new spaces or altering existing ones. The author attempts to assess the extent to which filling such a space with historical content is a significant contributing factor to the pursuit of such goals and the fulfilment of these tasks. The background for the analysis are projects submitted for the citizens’ participatory budget for the Polish capital, Warsaw.

Objective: New public governance is one of the most popular paradigms in public administration management. The aim of this article is to examine the co-production of public services, which is gaining interest in many European countries, including Poland, and to find out how co-production is defined, what the reasons to pay attention to this tool are, how we can distinguish between different models of co-production and, last but not least, what the possibilities and drawbacks of introducing it into practice are. Research Design & Methods: The article is a literature review based on the most important public management journals. Findings: In conclusion, the author shows new ways of defining co-production and presents a proposal for further research strategies for the co-production of public services. Implications / Recommendations: The meaning of co-production of public services has varied over the last few years due to the fact that various new elements have emerged. Therefore there is still a huge field, to cover such as conducting research about the use of social media in the co-production of public services. Contribution / Value Added: The most recent literature review about co-production was conducted by Vooberg in 2014. As a result, this article refreshes the knowledge about it and proposes a new research agenda for the future.

Opis:
Different forms of planning and urban design works are used in the process of decision-making on the local level, starting with visions of development, through comprehensive or master plans, finishing with the implemented action plans. Also, various kinds of social participation can be used in the process in spatial planning. The method of participation depends on the range of willingness of the local authority to divide the power and include informing, consultation or placation up to real partnership and delegation of power to citizens. Each form of participation is appropriate for a different situation. Generally, the act of using a specific form of participation in the process of creation of urban design or a planning activity is advisable. This article presents the framework of the model of participation suitable for spatial planning process on the local level. That model would be based on common consensus about the utilization of space. The consensus should be worked out in support of disclosed social and economic interests of important stakeholders from different groups of the local society and the public community as well. It is established using feedback loops on the most important steps of work as a method of gaining the best solution.

Opis:
The aim of presented study was to explore barriers and facilitators of optimal support for social and developmental outcomes for people with ASD. The survey was based on the semistructured interviews with parents of people with ASD, as well as professionals supporting persons with ASD. Thematic analysis of the data was viewed with regard to positive and negative practices that essentially serve as barriers and facilitators of optimal support of individuals with ASD. The results showed three levels of perceived barriers and facilitators of optimal support: (1) individual – related to the level of autistic impairment, (2) attitudinal – related to social interpretation of individual behaviour and needs, and (3) systemic – related to the education and welfare approach and practice at macro level. Insights from viewpoints of key stakeholders represent indispensable considerations in promotion of health, equity and well-beingof individuals with ASD and to inform the development of an individualized support system based on the person-centred planning approach.
Celem prezentowanego badania jest charakterystyka dystraktorów i facylitatorów regulujących osiągnięcie optymalnych efektów rozwojowych u osób z ASD. W badaniu zastosowano częściowo ustrukturyzowane wywiady z rodzicami osób z ASD, a także specjalistami wspierającymi osoby z ASD. Analizę tematyczną danych przeprowadzono w odniesieniu do pozytywnych i negatywnych praktyk, które zasadniczo stanowią bariery i czynniki ułatwiające optymalne funkcjonowanie osób z ASD.

Departing from the model suggested by Luyckx, Schwarz, Berzonsky et al. (2008), the relationships between identity and educational context, social participation, and identity information processing style were investigated. Participants were 972 students from six vocational schools in Poznań. The students, within these six schools, attended Grades I-III of three types of vocational schools: basic vocational schools (n=271), technical upper secondary schools (n=448), and specialized upper secondary schools (n=253). Three questionnaires were used: The Dimensions of Identity Development Scale (DIDS/PL), which measures five identity dimensions according to the concept of Luyckx, Schwarz, Berzonsky et al. (2008), Social Participation Questionnaire, developed by Brzezińska, Rękosiewicz and Hejmanowski (see Rękosiewicz, 2013b), enabling identification of the type of social participation, and the Polish adaptation of M. Berzonsky’s Identity Style Inventory 4 (ISI-4) authored by A. Senejko (2010), to examine identity styles. The results showed that the students from basic vocational schools and technical upper secondary schools were more often characterized by the normative identity style, whereas the students from specialized upper secondary schools manifested a greater tendency to engage themselves in exploration, both adaptive and ruminative.
