Opis:
Researches in the field of technology of modern sources of light have called for the introduction and application of a few basic hardware solutions of automatic correction systems of light beam position in the vertical and horizontal axes of a vehicle. Application of Adaptive Frontlighting Systems in motor vehicles has made it possible to adapt light parameters of head lights and fog lights to the actual situation on the road. The system ensures optimal observation conditions of a vehicle's foreground. These systems have contributed to the improvement of driving safety and comfort in the conditions of restricted visibility during fogs and precipitation. The authors of the present publication substantiate the need of introducing the solution of the foreground lighting of a vehicle, which has already proved effective for motor vehicles, taking into account the specificity of movement of a tram which is one of the main means of transport within the framework of urban public transport system. The article presents the current standardization requirements concerning head lights for the abovementioned means of transport. The results of laboratory photometric measurements for currently used optical light systems, as well as the results of simulation researches of the foreground lighting of a tram in street traffic have been demonstrated. Moreover, the article presents the analysis of potential solutions for the foreground lighting of a traction vehicle with the application of automatic system of light beam control. The proposal of a method of light beam choice taking into consideration specific movement conditions of a tram has been presented. Attention has been paid to the expected exploitation and economic effect of the application of the system for a company promoted to be used in a tram, as well as to the improvement of working conditions of a tram driver and the influence on other public transport users connected with travel safety and comfort. The publication emphasizes the merits of the proper use of already existing lighting solutions and their introduction into street traffic system of a tram. The improvement of the quality of the foreground lighting of a tram significantly increases the safety and comfort of all urban street traffic users.

The paper presents the issues strictly connected with the scientific discipline of Transport, concerning the exploitation of lighting devices, reflectors and projectors being the fundamental devices for tram 's head lighting. The factor influencing the safety of a moving track vehicle is the quality and state of tram's head lighting. Appropriate light distribution within the area of tram's foreground plays a decisive role in the perception of luminous sensations by the tram driver. A properly shaped light beam conditions appropriate visibility from the tram driver's seat and facilitates correct assessment of traffic situations connected with the behaviour of other road traffic participants. The history of development of lighting devices for head lights used for trams has been discussed. The article proposes and discusses application of AFS system in trams particularly accounting for proposals of new lighting requirements for tram's head lighting devices. Particular attention has been paid to photometric requirements for projectors and reflectors of tram's head lights, presenting proposals for these requirements. After conducting a lighting analysis of currently exploited light beams it has been established that justification exists for using symmetrical light beams in the case of head, main and low beam lights. Introduction of three kinds of lights of dedicated light beams for low beam, main and curve lights is proposed.

Opis:
General lighting is the most common way of illuminating interiors and the source of electricity consumption in buildings. This fact forces the search for lighting solutions effective both for people and the environment. In this study the impact of room and luminaire characteristics on general lighting conditions and energy efficiency in interiors is considered. In rooms of different sizes and reflectances, seventeen luminaire types with various light distributions were arranged in uniform layouts. The levels of average illuminance, uniformity and normalised power density related to two horizontal working planes were calculated. The impact of working plane reduction, room index and reflectances, lighting class and luminous intensity distribution of luminaire on the considered parameters was investigated. The use of the reduced working plane resulted in the increase in the average illuminance (7.7% on average), uniformity (33% on average) and normalised power density (23% on average). The impact of the room index and lighting class on the average illuminance and normalised power density was significant while the impact of the luminaire luminous intensity distribution and room reflectances was low. The normalised power density levels of the general electric lighting in interiors, with luminaire luminous efficacy of 100 lm/W, are in the following range: 1.08‒3.42 W/m2 per 100 lx. Based on these results a normalised power density level of 2 W/m2 per 100 lx is recommended for designing and assessing the new general electric lighting systems in buildings.

As statistical analyses conducted by The National Police Headquarters indicate, pedestrian crossing which is supposed to be a safe place for unprotected participants of road traffic is an area where about 10% of road accidents occur in which at least 3500 persons are injured, and over 200 die annually. Despite constant development of road infrastructure in Poland, this situation fails to improve in the expected way. Several reasons of this state of affairs can be detected. Undoubtedly a decisive factor in pedestrian safety at night-time is ensuring the drivers proper observation conditions of pedestrian crossings. The article will present assessment of lighting of pedestrian crossings making use of Small Target Visibility model. Due to the use of luminance and contrast criterion, it is possible to assess visibility level - a key parameter responsible for perception of a pedestrian by a driver on pedestrian crossings. Graphic chart showing accidents with pedestrian participation in the European Union, target for visibility research by means of STV method on pedestrian crossing, visibility level VL by means of STV method, Location of objects on pedestrian crossing by means of STV method, pedestrian crossing illuminated by lighting frames, visibility level on pedestrian crossing obtained as a result of lighting frames illumination from the first and second observation direction are presented in the paper.

Opis:
In 2020, an international project on residential lighting started and was implemented in four countries (Poland, Sweden, UK and Turkey). This article presents the results of a survey carried out in Poland, in the winter term between November 2020 and January 2021. A total of 125 Polish residents (59 women, 65 men, one person did not wish to specify gender) participated in the survey. A variety of data was collected on the respondents and their assessments as well as on their satisfaction with day- and artificial lighting in residential living spaces. The results from questionnaires were analyzed with STATISTICA 13.3. Descriptive statistics and Spearman rank order correlations were adopted to identify the light-related aspects, lighting patterns, and respondents’ perception of day- and artificial lighting conditions in living areas. The results revealed that satisfaction with daylighting in the living area, both in summer and winter, was significantly correlated with daylighting level, daylighting uniformity, sunlight exposure and view-out. The results also revealed that satisfaction with artificial lighting was significantly correlated with artificial lighting level, artificial lighting uniformity and color rendering. The results provide valuable information on lighting and factors that influence the luminous environment in residential living spaces.

Opis:
Age-dependent changes in human eye spectral sensitivity play an important role in contemporary lighting research. Nowadays lighting designing practices take into account the fact that an illuminance level perceived by a given observer depends also on his age. According to recommendations of the International Commission on Illumination CIE presented in the document 227:2017, users age should be taken into account in lighting design of public buildings. The natural consequence of this approach in designing should be the fact that the age of a user also should be considered when verification of lighting installation photometric parameters is performed. According to recommendations of latest CIE documents, verifications of illuminance levels are performed by luxmeters whose spectral sensitivity matches the CIE standard photometric observer V(λ) function. At present there is a lack of papers describing how the accuracy of illuminance measurements could be affected by the fact that with age there are changes in human eye spectral sensitivity and it differs from V(λ) function. To fill this gap we present in this article results showing how applying of different photometric observers influence the luxmeter accuracy. The calculations were performed for LED and FL light sources measured by class B and class C luxmeters. These results indicate that a luxmeter error f1 strongly depends on correlated color temperature of a lamp under measurement and spectral sensitivity of applied photometric observer.

The problem of energy saving resources is now very urgent. Reducing the lighting electricity consumption through the introduction of advanced technologies is one of the most effective ways. The main method - the replacement of incandescent lamps with LED lamps, since the light output of the latter is 5-8 times higher. However, LED bulbs are only becoming widespread, as most products entering the Ukrainian market are of low quality and of high cost. Also, the frequent phenomenon is the submission by producers of false information about the characteristics of the lamps. Therefore, we decided to experiment with the light bulbs available in the market of the western Ukraine. The article presents the results of the modern light sources characteristics studying using halogen lamps as the example. Many people think about changing the traditional incandescent lamp-lamp to some thing more perfect, since the prices for electricity are constantly growing, because their efficiency is very low and is only 5%. Among alternative way so flighting, halogen lamps are one of the options.
