Opis:
Numerous technological applications use MEMS capacitive sensing technique as a major component, because of their ease of fabrication process, inexpensive and high sensitivity. The paper aims at modeling interdigitated capacitive (IDC) sensing. Virtually observe the contribution of variations in geometrical parameters to sensor efficiency and optimization factor. The sensor design is verified through ANSYS simulations. Results indicate “an efficient but poorly optimized sensor is better than a well-optimized sensor”. It is difficult to detect capacitance in the range of few pF generated using capacitive sensing. How it can be maximized with dimension optimization is focused in this paper.

Opis:
Japan has an unfavorable balance of trade in medical devices, and large Japanese companies hesitate to enter the medical device industry. This paper investigates the process of the expansion of the American medical device industry. It was concluded that the propensity for risk in the U.S.A. and Japan is different; both countries have different industries and ways of thought which construct their manufacturing cultures. A system called Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) indicates that US Medical Industries are in a stronger position than their Japanese counterparts. The American system allows purchasing of developing medical devices before pharmaceutical acquisition. Japan has no foster policy for medical venture, nor are medical devices tested strictly before pharmaceutical approval. It is predicted that the Japanese economy will no longer be able to grow in a stable manner just by relying on the large corporation-led export of manufactured goods, whereas those SMEs with the sophisticated technology, by accommodating the needs of the medical institutions, will be highly competitive internationally in a narrow and specialized market. The author points out that promotion for the medical device industry may help Japanese economic revitalization. Japanese companies and their government will have to support developing "diversity" of the players.

The publication consist of two parts. Part 1 contains the results of research on the design, learning and implementation of the Perceptron Artificial Neural Network as a model of neural control of car movement on the racetrack. This part 1 presents the results of studies, including review of the methods used in video racing games from the point of view of the selection of a method that can be used in the own research experiment, selection of the Artificial Neural Network architecture, its teaching method and parameters for the intended research experiment, selection of the data measurement method to be used in ANN training, as well as development design of a car game, its implementation and conducting simulation tests. In designing the game of vehicle traffic on the racetrack, among others, Godot Engine game engine and MATLAB and Simulink programming environment. The numerical data (14 input quantities and two output quantities) for ANN training were prepared with the use of semi-automatic measurement of the race track control points. Part 2 shows i.a. the results of the testing and simulation experiments that confirm the correct functioning of both the game and the model of the neural control system. There were also shown, among others, the possibility of continuing research in the field of increasing the flexibility of the racing game, in particular the flexibility of the vehicle traffic control system through the use of other artificial intelligence methods, such as ant algorithms or evolutionary algorithms.

Opis:
This paper describes JupyQgis – a new Python library for Jupyteo IDE enabling interoperability with the QGIS system. Jupyteo is an online integrated development environment for earth observation data processing and is available on a cloud platform. It is targeted at remote sensing experts, scientists and users who can develop the Jupyter notebook by reusing embedded open-source tools, WPS interfaces and existing notebooks. In recent years, there has been an increasing popularity of data science methods that have become the focus of many organizations. Many scientific disciplines are facing a significant transformation due to data-driven solutions. This is especially true of geodesy, environmental sciences, and Earth sciences, where large data sets, such as Earth observation satellite data (EO data) and GIS data are used. The previous experience in using Jupyteo, both among the users of this platform and its creators, indicates the need to supplement its functionality with GIS analytical tools. This study analyzed the most efficient way to combine the functionality of the QGIS system with the functionality of the Jupyteo platform in one tool. It was found that the most suitable solution is to create a custom library providing an API for collaboration between both environments. The resulting library makes the work much easier and simplifies the source code of the created Python scripts. The functionality of the developed solution was illustrated with a test use case.

Opis:
Based on the example of the development process of the cast suspension of a special-purpose vehicle the application of the integrated engineering design methodology (ICME – Integrated Computational Materials Engineering) and the development of construction has been presented. Identification of the operating and critical loads, which are guidelines for carrying out the structure strength shaping process, material and technological conversion, are due to the needs and requirements of the suspension system and the purpose and objectives of the special mobile platform. The developed cast suspension element construction includes the use of high-strength AlZnMgCu aluminum alloy. The properties of the used alloy and designed shape allows for the transfer of assumed operating loads in normal exploitation conditions and in the dynamic, critical loads to the susceptibility to damage in the assumed casting areas. For the proposed design, conducted numerical analyzes includes the impact of the shock wave pulse on the occurrence of the destructive stress fields. Based on their distribution, the areas of possible decomposition of the structure of the design element were estimated. The results allowed to devise an element with predicted destructions that allow to absorb a significant part of the impact energy of the shock wave front, which is also the buffer zone for the propagation of destruction for the critical kinematic nodes of the system.
