Opis:
Adsorption is considered as one of the most promising technologies for CCS. Gas adsorption involves the separation of gaseous components from flue gas using solid adsorbents. The gaseous component, adsorbate, is adsorbed from the gas phase on a solid material. Regarding CO2 adsorption, it is important to consider the parameters, that is the high sorption capacity, CO2 selectivity, regeneration and stability in multiple cycles. New directions for the development of adsorbents are focused on increasing their capacity – for this purpose, amine impregnation is carried out. This paper presents a new approach to obtaining mesoporous material from fly ash and, based on this, a new physico-chemical adsorbent obtained by impregnation. The effectiveness of the process was confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis and FTIR infrared spectroscopy.

Opis:
The paper presents the results and analysis of biomass processing in order to provide the conditions for the most profitable use of the biomass in modern and efficient power generation systems with particular attention put on the decrease of the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) and no need to develop carbon capture and storage plants. The promising concept of CO2 storage via the production of biochar and the advantages of its application as a promising carbon sink is also presented and the results are supported by authors’ own experimental data. The idea enables the production of electricity, as well as (optionally) heat and cold from the thermal treatment of biomass with simultaneous storage of the CO2 in a stable and environmentally-friendly way. The key part of the process is run in a specially-designed reactor where the biomass is heated up in the absence of oxygen. The evolved volatile matter is used to produce heat/cold and electricity while the remaining solid product (almost completely dry residue) is sequestrated in soil. The results indicate that in order to reduce the emission of CO2 the biomass should rather be 'cut and char' than just 'cut and burn', particularly that the charred biomass may also become a significant source of nutrients for the plants after sequestration in soil.

Opis:
The results of pilot plant investigations of simultaneous removal of NOx, SO2 and Hg from flue gas with ozone as the oxidizing agent and the spray tower absorber with NaOH solution as the absorbent have been presented. Flue gas was delivered into the pilot plant at the flow rate of 200 m3/h from the coal fired OP-430 boiler. The effectiveness of NOx removal was over 95% when the molar ratio O3/NO reached 2.0. Sulfur dioxide was practically completely washed out from flue gas in the absorber at the liquid-to-gas ratio 7.5 dm3/m3. The effectiveness of Hg removal in the studied system was approximately 80%. It was pointed out that CO concentration in flue gas could considerably increase the ozone consumption. The effect of carbon dioxide in flue gas on the chemistry of absorption due to hydroxides conversion into carbonates and bicarbonates was noticed.

Opis:
The photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide with hydrogen was studied by Temperature-Programmed Surface Reaction (TPSR). This process was carried out in a flow reactor that was especially designed and constructed for this purpose. Titanium dioxide (TiO2, Degussa P-25) was used as supports for platinum, ruthenium and nickel catalysts. The experimental results indicated that the activity of photoreduction of CO2 changes as follows: Ru/TiO2> Ni/TiO2>= Pt/TiO2> TiO2.

Opis:
The paper presents formation of the amount of methane released from a coal deposit during coal mining. The total amount of released methane is composed of the amount separated directly into the ventilation air in mines (ventilation methane) and included in the demethanation system, isolated from the ventilation air. Methane from the demethanation system is only partially utilized. The unused part of methane is discharged into the atmosphere. The paper presents how the amount of methane released in individual mines of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. was shaped, with a division into methane released to the ventilation system and included in the demethanation system, taking into account the part used for economic purposes and the part discharged to atmosphere. The research material covers the years 2017-2019.

Opis:
The supported co-catalyst (Co, Ni)3O4/Al2O3 was prepared via using a co-precipitation method. Three sets of these materials were prepared by calcination at three different temperatures 500, 600, and 700°C. Crystal structure of the prepared materials was investigated using powder X-rays diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Atomic force microscope (AFM), and specific surface area (BET). The activity of the prepared catalysts was investigated by following both of photocatalytic and adsorption removal of Reactive yellow 145 dye (RY 145) from simulated industrial wastewaters. In this study, different reaction conditions were performed such as effect of pH of the reaction mixture, mass dosage of the used catalyst, and effect of temperature. In addition to that adsorption isotherms and reaction kinetics were investigated. Also the activity of these catalysts were investigated after cyclization of the used catalysts.
