Opis:
The experimental material was made up by the plant organs of Brassica napus L. from a pot experiment during one vegetation period. There was investigated the effect of relatively high concentration of zinc, copper, lead and cadmium in soil on the rapeseed yield, the content of protein and oil in seeds. The impact of metals was defined based on the content of selected fatty acids in oil extracted from seeds. The highest contents of zinc and copper were found in leaves, lead – in roots and cadmium – in stems. The biological concentration factor values were respectively calculated for all the rapeseed organs. For Cu and Pb the values of biological concentration factor were low and very low for all the plant organs. The doses of Zn (300 mg × kg- 1, 600 mg × kg-1) and Cu (80 mg × kg-1, 160 mg × kg-1) applied in the pot experiment resulted in the translocation of metals from the roots to the leaves. The doses of lead (400 mg × kg-1, 1600 mg × kg-1) did not trigger any translocation of that metal from the roots to the above-ground rapeseed plant parts, however, after the application of the cadmium doses (2 mg × kg-1, 6 mg × kg-1), there was recorded a clear translocation of Cd to the rapeseed stems and the leaves. A relatively high content of zinc, copper, lead and cadmium in soil had a significant effect neither on the yield parameters and nor on the qualitative characters of the rapeseed seed. Neither did they affect the content of protein, fat and fatty acids in seed-extracted oil. The results of the pot experiment suggest that spring rapeseed is suitable for the phytoremediation of moderately heavy-metalcontaminated soils.

Opis:
A life table can be used as an important and appropriate tool to evaluate the susceptibility or resistance level of different host plant cultivars to insect pests. In the current study, we determined the suitability or inferiority of five different canola cultivars (Hayula420, Hayula401, Hayula50, Hayula60, RGS) to Nysius cymoides, under laboratory conditions. Data were analysed based on the age-stage, two-sex life table theory. Nysius cymoides which fed on Hayula420 had the longest nymphal period, while those which fed on Hayula50 had the shortest nymphal period. Developmental times (sum of incubation and nymphal periods) was longest for those which fe d on Hayula420 and the shortest for those which fed on Hayula50. The adult pre-oviposition period (APOP), total pre-oviposition period (TPOP), mean fecundity, and adult longevity of adults reared on different canola cultivars showed significant differences. The highest and lowest net reproductive rates (R0) were obtained for those which fed on Hayula420 (11.40 offspring per individual) and Hayula401 (5.47 offspring per individual), respectively. The highest value (0.0395 d–1) for the intrinsic rate of increase (r) was obtained for those which fed on Hayula 60 cultivar and the lowest value (0.0261 d–1) for those which fed on Hayula401 cultivar. The shortest and longest mean generation times (T) were obtained for those which fed on RGS and H401 cultivars, respectively. The lowest and highest values of life expectancy (exj) were obtained for those which fed on RGS and Hayula420 cultivars, respectively. The results showed that Hayula401 and RGS were not susceptible cultivars to N. cymoides. These cultivars showed higher resistance to N. cymoides, while Hayula60, Hayula420, and Hayula50 were found to be suitable cultivars but with lower resistance to N. cymoides, respectively.

An aim of this work was to characterize microbial properties, a nutritional composition and an antioxidant activity of Brassica napus subsp. napus L. bee pollen sample, which can be possibly used in human nutrition. A piąte diluting method was applied for quantitative cfu (colony forming units) counts determination. The mean number of mesophilic aerobic sporulating microorganisms ranged 3.78-4.56 log cfu o g-1, the number of mesophilc anaerobes sporulating microorganisms ranged 2.54-4.63 log cfu o g-1, the number of coliforms bacteria 0-3.74 log cfu o g-1and the cells number of Escherichia coli 0-3.71 log cfu o g-1. The mean number of microscopic fungi ranged from 2.48 to 4.20 log cfu o g-1. The antioxidant activity of bee pollen ranged from l .25 to l .93 1/I0 (in case of the freeze-dried and frozen bee pollen, respectively). The highest total flavonoids content (128.33 mg o kg-1) was occurred in the frozen pollen. The highest value of the flavonoid kaempferol achieved in the dried bee pollen, whereas the freeze-dried form contains the most of other three flavonoids (ąuercetin, luteolin, apigenin). The sum of proteins (average 251.13 š 33.06 g o kg-1) decreased in the order: freeze-dried > dried > frozen bee pollen. The freeze-dried form of pollen was characterized with the highest value of the calcium concentration, and the frozen treatment with the Iowest content (2040 mg o kg-1 versus 1800 mg o kg-1). The zinc was presented in amount 36.97 š 4.15 mg o kg-1. The most of the zinc was contained in the freeze-dried pollen.

Opis:
The introduction of new genotypes of crop plants is among the most strategic research programmes, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. To study the effect of drought stress on seed yield and some physiological traits of promising lines of rapeseed at different sowing dates, an experiment was conducted for two years (2015-2017) in a semi-arid region of Iran. In this research, two conventional sowing dates were set in October 12 and November 1 (late sowing). Irrigation was carried out at two levels: normal irrigation (control) and irrigation interruption from the silique formation stage to the next stage (late-season drought stress). The genotypes included four promising lines (L1112, L1091, L1093, L1206), and a cultivar (Okapi) as a control. Results showed that delayed sowing and drought stress increased carbohydrate content and decreased seed yield, with the highest carbohydrate content and highest yield loss in L1112 and the lowest carbohydrate and lowest yield loss in the L1206 line. Among the physiological traits measured, stomatal resistance had the highest degree of correlation and the highest direct negative effect on seed yield, which declined with increasing stomatal resistance. L1112 had the highest stomatal resistance (52.76 s cm-1) in delayed sowing and drought stress conditions. Therefore, L1206 and L1112 were revealed to be resistant and sensitive lines, respectively.

The content and composition of glucosinolates in the leaves of some double low and traditional varieties of oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.), at three different stages of development, was investigated. Double low rape varieties showed lower, general content of glucosinolates of which indolyl glucosinolates were the most abundant, specially at the initial stage of plant development.
Badano zawartość i skład glukozynolanów w liściach 8 odmian rzepaku tzw.

Opis:
Fatty acid levels and gene expression profiles for selected genes associated with the synthesis of fatty acids (FA), triacylglycerol, and oil body proteins were examined in three oilseed rape (Brassica napus) cultivars that have utility for cultivar development in our spring canola breeding program. The seed oil content of Bronowski, Q2, and Westar was 39.0, 40.1, and 40.6%, respectively at 40 days after flowering (DAF). During the 20 to 40 day period of seed development, cultivars had varying levels of palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, α-linolenic, eicosenoic, and erucic acid. In general, the percentage of each FA was similar among the cultivars during seed development. However, the level of oleic acid was lower and the levels of eicosenoic acid and erucic acid were higher in Bronowski than in Q2 and Westar seeds; linoleic acid also tended to be lower in Bronowski. Gene expression among the cultivars was similar from 10 to 40 DAF. The few exceptions were that expression of KAS1 and SAD were higher in Westar and Q2 than in Bronowski at 25 DAF, SAD was highest in Q2, intermediate in Westar, and lowest in Bronowski at 35 DAF, FAD2 was higher in Q2 than in Bronowski at 35 DAF, FAD3 was higher in Q2 than in Bronowski at 15 DAF and Q2 and Westar at 25 and 30 DAF, and FAE1 was higher in Westar and Q2 than in Bronowski at 30 DAF. Correlation analysis for gene expression against DAF for each genotype supported a common trend in gene expression among the three cultivars with gene expression tending to decrease over time; except for LPAAT, which tended to increase. The correlation between the level of FAs and expression of genes by genotype indicated no general trend; rather correlations seem to depend on the genotype.

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary, the causal agent of Sclerotinia stem rot, is one of the most important pathogens of Brassica napus L. in northern Iran. In this study, 13 mycelial compatibility groups (MCGs) of the fungus were identified among 31 isolates sampled from four regions of Mazandaran province, Iran. Effective fungicides are useful in the integrated management of the disease. So, the effect of tebuconazole, propiconazole, cyproconazole, and Rovral-TS at five doses (0.0001, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, and 1 ppm) was studied on the growth inhibition of S. sclerotiorum as in vitro tests. Maximum inhibition (100%) of S. sclerotiorum mycelial growth was obtained by the highest dose (1 ppm) of all tested fungicides, as well as by the doses of 0.1 and 0.01 ppm of propiconazole, cyproconazole, and tebuconazole. In this investigation, the reaction of S. sclerotiorum isolates belonging to different MCGs was evaluated against tebuconazole, propiconazole, cyproconazole, and Rovral-TS at their EC50 ranges. The results revealed that there was high variation of S. sclerotiorum MCGs against different fungicides. The inhibition percentage varied between 4.29% and 71.72%.

Opis:
A genetic model is developed with additive, dominance and genotype × environment interaction effects for the progeny from a diallel mating design. To uncover the genetic contributions of some traits of rapeseed to seed yield and find indicator traits for indirect selection, multivariable conditional analysis was conducted based on this method. Therefore, an experiment was conducted to estimate genetic parameters using a half diallel of nine international rapeseed cultivars. The 36 F1 hybrids, the parents and four additional cultivars were planted in the breeding nurseries in 2008 and 2009. Several traits including number of pods per plant (NPP), pod length (LP), height of the first pod (HFP), height of the first lateral branch (HFB), stem diameter (SD), days of flowering period (FP), days to physiological maturity (DPM) and seed yield were recorded. The genetic variance component (VD×Y) was significant for all the studied traits but the genetic variance component (VA) was significant for NPP, HFB, HFP, DPM and SY traits and the genetic variance component (VD) was significant for HFB, HFP, LP and FP traits. There was significant positive phenotypic correlation (rA) between seed yield with NPP and HFP and there was significant positive dominance × year interaction correlation (rD×Y) between seed yield with NPP and DPM while there was significant negative dominance × year interaction correlation (rD×Y) between seed yield with HFB, LP and FP. There were significantly positive additive effects of SY for two parents Orient and Talaye. Finally according to additive-dominance genetic model and conditional genetic effects, the genotypes Talaye proved good general combiner for seed yield improvement and crosses 4 × 8 (Orient × Talaye), 7 × 8 (Opera × Talaye) were found the best specific combiner for all the studied traits...
