Opis:
A very important aspect of websites nowadays is their accessibility. Thanks to modern, constantly evolving technologies, it is possible to create friendly services for each user, regardless of his state of health. Web sites accessibility may be considered in aspects of their functionality and readability. One of methods for exploring this issue is the use of validators, i.e. automated tests to check the syntax of the documents posted on the Internet. The purpose of this article is to compare the selected tools. The structure of the article is as follows. Firstly, we explain the importance of the accessibility of the web sites. Then we briefly characterize our proposal of validators evaluation criteria for studying web-accessibility and present the results of evaluation of selected validators. Finally, we are presenting conclusions.

Spatial accessibility is one of fundamental problems of geography, and transport geography in particular. It is one of the key factors afecting the ability to use certain services by the residents of a given area. Therefore, it is important to develop appropriate methods for the analysis of spatial accessibility. This paper describes a methodology for analyzing spatial accessibility in urban areas using a hexagonal grid combined with a network analysis. The proposed methodology is applied to the city of Toruń, Poland. Spatial distribution of accessibility to selected public amenities is analyzed and areas of high and low accessibility are identified. Finally, a prototype of a novel web-based system is proposed to allow citizens and city oficials to perform custom analysis based on individual preferences.

Opis:
The article presents a forecast of changes in the level of transport accessibility and mobility in Poland as a result of the anticipated development of the network of expressways and motorways. The progress which has been made in this respect in the last few years in Poland is unquestionable and unrepeatable by any other European country. Will the subsequent investment plans concerning the road network of the highest parameters offer equally impressive results as far as the increase in Poland’s territorial cohesion is concerned? The aim of this article is to establish in what way the planned infrastructure investments will affect the changes in transport accessibility and mobility as well as whether they will result in the changes in traffic flows directed to Warsaw and other regional centres. To achieve this, an analysis of the present and target state of the road network in Poland was conducted from the perspective of changes in accessibility, anticipated traffic flows, and mobility. For this purpose the authors used the analyses of isochrone and accumulative accessibility in ArcMap environment and research into traffic flows and their changes in the Visum software. The conducted research showed that the planned transport network might result in induced traffic through a increase in accessibility (the central variant) with the assumption that an increase in mobility would be vented in the real face of the phenomenon of motility. The fact of opening new road sections of expressways will contribute to substantial changes in the directions of traffic flows only to a slight extent, and the only transformations concern regions with already developed fast car transport infrastructure whose functionality is limited due to the lack of its cohesion in the subsequent course or lack of a developed network of expressways and motorways.

The field of control of redundant articulated mechanical systems requires the use of algorithms to compute the inverse kinematics. The fields of animation, virtual reality or game in particular, are very interested in these algorithms. We propose in this paper a comparison between several algorithms of incremental type. The considered application concerns the accessibility evaluation of an environment used by a handicapped person (an apartment, a house, an institution…). The physical disability involves a particular characteristic of the human articulated structure that gives rise to constraints that must be taken into account in computing the inverse kinematics.

This study examined the travel behawior of commercial public transport passengers in Lagos State, Nigeria. The descriptive research survey was used in order to assess the opinions of the respondents using the questionnaire. A total of 84 samples were used as representative population, while two null hypotheses were formulated and tested using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient at 0.05 level of significant. The results that were obtained indicated that a positive correlation exists between frequency of travel and commuters income in Lagos Metropolis and also that a positive correlation exists between frequency of travel and distance covered by commuters in Lagos Metropolis. Secondary data was also sourced to serve as complement to the primary data, thus allowing for a robust research. Descriptive statistical tools such as percentages were also adopted to present the socio-economic characteristics in the area. Findings showed that about 57% of sampled population are male, 62 % are civil servants, 48% of respondents travel for business purposes. Also, that majority of the respondents (50%) said that the commercial public transport is highly prone to accident, while about 64% of the respondents commute on daily basis. It was established that lack of transport infrastructure coupled with poor road maintenance were seen as the leading causes of inaccessibility of the area.

Social responsibility in museums is not an entirely new domain. For many years now activities locating museums among the institutions contributing to creating better social reality have been observed. This new paradigm overcomes the stereotypical perception of cultural institutions as organizations taking care only of tangible and intangible testimony to the past of mankind, at the same time imposing on them the responsibility versus society and the community. The National Maritime Museum (NMM) in Gdansk tries to face these challenges not only by implementing educational and conservation projects, but also by supporting the development of the very Museum and its branches, at the same time directing its activities towards engaging in important social issues, such as eradicating accessibility barriers to heritage facilities, care for the environment, and sustainable development. Among the most recent accomplishments described in the paper let us mention the projects implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the new visiting format presented on the ‘Dar Pomorza’ Museum Ship. On 11 May 2021, NMM shared with the public the so-called Interactive Spherical Video integrated with modern Oculus goggles, introducing the spectator into interactive augmented reality allowing to become acquainted with the sailing ship from a new perspective, accessible to visitors with impaired mobility. A similar solution, though amidst a different landscape, was proposed in the lobby of the Museum’s main building on Ołowianka Island in Gdansk. Without getting aboard the ‘Sołdek’ Museum Ship, we can peep into its cargo hold and engine room. Furthermore, the paper describes many interesting educational or advertising undertakings which attempt at facing contemporary social challenges.

Guaranteeing the survival of cultural heritage, increasing its accessibility, both physical and intellectual, and the creation of countless benefits for different categories of stakeholders depends both on a perfect comprehension of the interests and abilities of users to take advantage of what is offered and, above all, on identifying and analysing the various types of value that can be attributed to it. According to Montella, there are three types of value that may be analysed for this purpose: a presentation value, informative in nature and inherent in the historical, cultural and possibly artistic value implicit in the heritage; a landscape value, extended to the context, inherent in the factual information services aimed at supporting policies of preventive and programmed conservation: and a production value, commercial in nature, which concerns the external effects generated by cultural heritage management to qualify the products and the images themselves of the businesses in order to make them stand out from the competition. The aim of this article is to inquire into whether, in what way and to what extent the communication of the Paper and Watermark Museum in Faabriano and the Ascoli Piceno Papal Paper Mill Museum in Ascoli Piceno creates presentation value and therefore leads the public to understand how far paper production has influenced the economic and socio-cultural history of the area in which they are located.

In spatial accessibility studies based on market areas, such as floating catchment area (FCA) family methods, it is crucial to identify the point to which weights are assigned, both on the demand and supply side. Bearing in mind that it is not always possible to work on disaggregated data, the aim of this paper was to investigate which method of determining a point, minimises bias in the estimation of walking accessibility. The research used the G2SFCA method, introduced by Dai, which has been employed several times to model walking accessibility. Results clearly show that point location methods for area units, based on disaggregating data to buildings, perform better at the scale of statistical districts or cadastral precincts, compared to those based on the centrally weighted mean. They also show that positional measures such as the Euclidean centrally weighted median can improve the results of analyses in units that are heterogeneous in terms of settlement network pattern.

In this paper, the possibility of using the GTFS standard to describe the public transport (PT) stop infrastructure in Poland, was evaluated. It was also proposed to expand the existing GTFS file of the ZTM (PT authority) in Poznań to include a detailed description of a selected two-level tram stop. A testbed equipped with open source software was built and used for this purpose. The study showed that despite the fact that in Poland, PT organizers and operators do not provide detailed information on its accessibility to people with disabilities, the preparation of such information is possible, while modifications to the data generated so far may be required, especially regarding the stops. However, the preparation and updating of this data on a nationwide scale may pose a problem.

Universal design is a strategic approach for planning and designing both the products and their environment, aimed at making a given product available to the widest number of possible users. It ensures equality for all of them and the opportunity to participate in the society. This concept is also crucial in the process of designing and developing software. The research was conducted with the use of four services, three of them were implemented for the purpose of this study. Two of them took into consideration the principles of universal design, while the others did not. The aim of the study was verification of the level of usability and accessibility of services by means of three independent methods: the LUT (Lublin University of Technology) checklist, an assessment taking into account WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards using the automatic WAVE evaluation tool (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool) and a device allowing to track the movement of the eye while performing various tasks on websites. The websites were assessed by twenty experts in the field of creating web application interfaces, using the LUT checklist. The time to the first fixation (TTFF) that it took respondents to look at specific website elements was measured using the eye tracker device and iMotions software. All websites were checked by means of the WAVE tool to detect irregularities and non-compliance with universal design standards. The analysis performed clearly indicated that websites that follow the universal design guidelines were more useful, intuitive and accessible for users. It might be concluded that interfaces allow to find necessary information and perform desired actions in a shorter time when prepared in accordance with the principles of universal design.

Culture takes an increasingly important position in the debate about the accessibility of public space for persons with disabilities. Many questions about how to include them in cultural life have emerged. The subject of the present article is a theoretical reflection on actions taken in this area by cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations. Basing on a comparative analysis of two events of such kind, and using the achievements of special pedagogy, I present two models of cultural accessibility for persons with disabilities: the separative and integrative model. I ponder on their advantages and disadvantages. I conclude by claiming that both can be useful in the process of making culture accessible for persons with disabilities, providing that the beneficiaries will be allowed to choose what kind of events they will attend. These considerations accord with the recently burgeoning field of accessibility studies, while Disability Studies serves as a broad theoretical frame.
