The article focuses on relationship between time perspective and place of residen-ce. Five hundred and eleven Ukrainian participants completed the Zimbardo Time Per-spective Inventory [Ukrainian language version by Oksana Senyk (Senyk, 2012)] and a questionnaire that included the question about participants’ current place of residence and their place of residence in childhood. Answers to the questionnaire made it possible to consider in the research respondents’ change of residential place and its relation to the formation of different time orientations. The results have shown that the individu-al’s time perspective is influenced not by the specific life situation represented by his past or current place of residence, but upon his whole life story that includes changing different residential settlements. The research has also indicated that among all types of settlements rural settlements most significantly contribute to the development of time orientation towards a positive past.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to discuss the problems related to consumer time valuation and its implications. This domain remains relatively unexplored in marketing literature. Methodology: The author approached the time valuation problem in a synthetic and interdisciplinary way. To facilitate the analysis of time characteristics as a consumer resource and temporal decisions, the comparison with money was applied, which is an approach well established in the literature. Findings: Time can be a source of value only to selected consumers, as not all perceive time as scarce. Mental accounting for time is difficult; hence consumers tend to use heuristics to arrive at their temporal decisions and prefer immediate discounting of temporal benefits. Contrary to a popular adage, time is not money, at least in the context of the majority of consumers’ decisions. Research limitations/implications: Despite growth in the number of publications, knowledge of temporal aspects in consumer behavior is limited and fragmented. Less is known about how to turn the perceived value of time into customer value. Further investigation is needed to identify consumer groups that truly value time. Practical implications: The knowledge of temporal aspects of consumer behavior, and how consumers value time, would be of particular use in the service industry, where the “when” of customer value is usually provided in the form of “convenience”. Originality: This study sheds light on research gaps in the literature in an under- investigated subject, examining the link between the perceived value of time and possibilities to generate value based on temporal benefits.

One of the essential elements of work technology assessment is task performance time. In the working day structure, production times are crucial; however, under certain conditions, complementary work times can have a share of up to 30%. Accurate determination of the time structure of a work shift is very time consuming and requires time measurements using the methods of cumulative timing or snapshot observations. For this reason, the overall share of complementary work times in a work shift is usually estimated roughly, equally for all timber harvesting conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of selected working environment factors on the share of complementary work times in a work shift, in technologies on the manual-machine and the machine levels. The analyses were carried out in 33 forest districts of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Wrocław. Among forest contractors, surveys were carried out to analyse the time structure of a working day. For each forest district, analyses of environmental factors potentially relevant to the share of complementary work times in a work shift were carried out; these included field features, dispersion of stands, features of timber, area accessibility. The total share of complementary work times in the machine-level technology variant amounted to approx. 40% and was higher than the manual-machine technological variant, where this share amounted to approx. 35%. The models developed for standardization of the share of variability of complementary work times, in the case of the manual-machine technology level, took into account the share of timber assortments with the length of over 2.5 m as well as the share of upland and mountain sites. In the case of timber harvesting at the machine technology level, the standardization model included as significant the factors such as the share of coniferous forest sites, the number of forest complexes with an area of over 100 hectares, and the total length of roads. Therefore, the above features could be selected as decisive for the share of the complementary work time category out of the full set of environmental variables taken into consideration in the estimation of the time-consumption of timber harvesting processes.

Since 1972 , a leap second has been added, approximately once a year, into UTC, the world’s atomic time scale used for civilian purposes, to keep it in phase with the Earth’s rotation. Leap seconds ensure that the Sun remains over the Greenwich meridian at noon, with the accuracy of approximately 1 s. The issue of adding the leap second has been debated since 2000 by different working groups of various international organizations, especially ITU-R WP 7A. The main question remains whether the need for the leap second still exists, as its introduction is associated with numerous technical inconveniences. An overwhelming opinion that prevails in those groups is that it would be more beneficial to let the atomic time run its course and accept that the world’s civilian time scale is bound to slowly diverge from the rotation of the Earth. The National Institute of Telecommunications has become, in recent years, one of the leaders of this process. This article provides a brief history of the current UTC-related practices and outlines various potential solutions to the problem.

Testing and reasoning are two main closely related diagnostic activities. Diagnostic testing is realized in Newtonian (short) time while diagnostic reasoning - in (long) Bergsonian time. Both sort of time are used to analyze different kinds of problems in diagnostics and reliability of technical objects. Newtonian and Bersonian time differentiation needs some expert knowledge. In this paper, considerations are based on observation that Newtonian time of diagnostic testing is related to object maintenance (adjustment) and Bergsonian time is related to object is reliability. A significant change of the object’s technical condition (signals or parameters of the state) causes changes of its regulation state (quality indicators change) and the characteristics of reliability. As it is required for the operation and reliability to be always appropriate and permanent, the control should be adjusted to functional needs of the object, and the use should be adapted to the current characteristics of reliability. Therefore, change of the settings of the control device (made during the handling of the object) represents the change of technical condition and state of reliability. It is presumed that, during the operation of a technical object, the selection of the control settings for damaged object is impossible. This fact, when predicted, becomes the basis for the prediction of the object reliability.

The stability analysis for discrete-time fractional linear systems with delays is presented. The state-space model with a time shift in the difference is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for practical stability and for asymptotic stability have been established. The systems with only one matrix occurring in the state equation at a delayed moment have been also considered. In this case analytical conditions for asymptotic stability have been given. Moreover parametric descriptions of the boundary of practical stability and asymptotic stability regions have been presented.

The essay faces up to the topic of “crisis” from the perspective of historical and sociological semantics. Troublesomeness of the crisis is a permanent fixture in any philosophy of historical time. An author sees a social reality as flows of social practices with their symbolic and material effects and assumptions, in the same breath. Orientating oneself to time and work for the future is considered a substantive compo-nent of the autoregulative process. It is also important to students ́ mental regulation, which is closely related to academic success. The factor of time in human life has been approached in psychology in a variety of ways. We will focus primarily on those concepts which study time and detect time patterns in motivational dynamics of personality. The concepts of Joel O. Ray-nor, Torgrim Gjesme, Joseph R. Nuttin and Philip G. Zimbardo will be mentioned. Of Czech authors, the “perspective orientation” by Isabella Pavelková is presented. We will discuss diagnostic methods used in the measurement of time perspective, especially the Motivation Induction Method (MIM – J.R. Nuttin). Secondly, we will present selected researches that have been carried out in this fi eld in the Czech Republic. These studies are focused primarily on issues related to the identifi cation, development, and opportunities of internal assump-tions conditioning the character and quality of an individual ́s future.

The beta parameter is a popular tool for the evaluation of portfolio performance. The Sharpe single-index model is a simple regression model in which the stock’s returns are regressed against the returns of a broader index. The beta parameter is a measure of the strength of this relation. Extensive recent research has proved that the beta is not constant in time and should be modelled as a time-variant coefficient. One of the most popular methods of the estimation of a time-varying beta is the Kalman filter. As the output of the Kalman filter, one obtains a sequence of the estimates of a time-varying beta. This sequence shows the historical dynamics of sensitivity of a company’s returns to the variations of market returns. The article proposes a method of clustering companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange according to time-varying betas.

This paper presents an analysis of the impact of ambient temperature changes on main parameters of the interpolating time counter. The performed tests reveal that a relatively small change in the ambient temperature of 1°C causes a measurement error of the counter as large as 3.5 ps. The thorough research of two stages of interpolation of the counter allowed determining the main sources of the error. One of them is the temperature drift of widths of four-phase clock (FPC) segments in the first interpolation stage (FIS). It equals 2.5 ps/°C. The widths of FPC phases directly influence the active range of the second interpolation stage (SIS) and its offset. The test results also show that the temperature drift of the offset has a greater impact on the measurement accuracy than the temperature-driven changes of quantization steps in SIS. The presented conclusions are the first step to develop a new method for reducing the impact of changes in the ambient temperature on the measurement accuracy of the interpolating time counter.

This article presents the GIS analysis of time availability of the Voivodship Emergency Ambulance and Sanitary Transport Station operates an Independent Public Health Care Facility “Meditrans” in Warsaw. The research focuses on determining the level of service for residents in each district with the emergency service station. In addition, an attempt was made to improve accessibility on the example of three selected districts. The authors attempt to select methodology of planning the location of the emergency service station in order to optimize the level of service for residents.

The paper presents a concept of utilization of counter-timer circuits built in popular microcontrollers for generating precise time intervals. The main aim was to generate pulses START and STOP wholly in hardware without using a core of the microcontroller. This enables minimizing the value of time jitter of the generated time intervals and allows the use of remaining resources of the microcontroller freely. The introduced method of generation exploits the possibility of simultaneous synchronization of TIM2 and TIM3 timers from an overloaded TIM1 timer. Dependent timers work in One Pulse Mode. START and STOP signals are generated by PWM channels of individual timers. PWM channels can be configured independently which gives the possibility to generate START and STOP pulses of different polarity and width. Generation of a time interval can be triggered automatically (TIM1) or through one of the inputs of the microcontroller. The implemented generator is characterized by the generated range of time interval from 0 to 100 s and the resolution of 40 ns. The jitter of 100 ps was obtained. The concept is suitable to apply in any microcontroller of the STM32 family. It allows the generation of precise and adjustable delays in the application without the need to significantly expand a hardware part of the device.
