Chlorocresol nanoemulsion disinfectant (CND) is an environmental disinfectant prepared with nanoemulsion as its drug carrier. This study aimed to investigate the bactericidal effect of CND on Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus) and its effect on bacterial ultrastructure. The neutralizing effect of CND against S. aureus was first screened by suspension quantitative evaluation experiment procedure of neutralizer. Disinfection performance was evaluated by the determination of Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC), quantitative bactericidal experiment, and comparative experiment of disinfection performance between 0.1% CND and 0.1% chlorocresol aqueous solution. Meanwhile, the effect of CND on the ultrastructure of S. aureus was investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) to preliminarily explore the bactericidal mechanism. The results showed that 3% Tween-80 in PBS could be screened as the neutralizer of CND against S. aureus. MIC and MBC were 100 μg/mL and 200 μg/mL, respectively. The bactericidal rates were all 100% when 0.06% and 0.08% disinfectant acted for 15 and 5 min, respectively. Furthermore, compared with 0.1% chlorocresol aqueous solution, the bactericidal effect of 0.1% CND was significantly enhanced (p<0.01). After treatment with CND for 10 min, SEM observation showed that the morphology of S. aureus cells were changed and the integrity destroyed. TEM observation showed that the cell shape changed, and the structures of the cell wall, cell membrane and cytoplasm were damaged in varying degrees. CND showed the strong bactericidal effect on S. aureus and could cause ultrastructure alterations of S. aureus.

A newly discovered silicified brachiopod interval from the Upper Member of the Guanling Formation (Late Anisian, Middle Triassic) in Guizhou Province (South China) is described for the first time. The most remarkable feature of this brachiopod assemblage, besides the very good preservation, is the very low taxonomic evenness and diversity. This impoverished, low diversity/high density assemblage is represented by more than 700 recovered specimens belonging to three species within two spiriferinid genera (Pseudospiriferina multicostata, P. pinguis, and Punctospirella fragilis). It is characterized by the overwhelming abundance of an endemic spiriferinid species, P. multicostata, which contributes to more than 90% of the community. Silicified valves of P. multicostata and Punctospirella fragilis allow detailed descriptions of the internal morphology based on direct observation. Brachiopod paleoecology, assessed by considering host−rock lithology, shell disarticulation, and shell size suggests that this endemic brachiopod fauna represents a favourable niche for development of dense brachiopod−dominated communities, i.e., high energy, hard substrate, nutrient rich environment.

$Fe_{68}Zr_{20}B_{12}$ amorphous alloy prepared by mechanical alloying technique of 60 h of duration was annealed at different temperatures (420-720°C) during 1 h. Microstructure and magnetic property of as-milled and annealed alloy were investigated by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, the Mössbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer techniques. $Fe_{68}Zr_{20}B_{12}$ powders milled during 60 h exhibit amorphous character. After annealing at 420°C, α-Fe phase precipitates from amorphous matrix. Transmission electron microscopy analysis shows the nucleation and growth of α-Fe grains. The Mössbauer results of the annealed alloy at 670°C show that the $Fe_3B$ phase precipitates already and there is still remaining amorphous phase. Coercivity increases with increasing annealing temperature, which is closely related to the microstructures after annealing.

We present taxonomic revision of rugose corals and brachiopods from several Frasnian–Fammenian (F–F) boundary sections in central Hunan Province, China. Diversity of shallow−water rugose corals gradually increased during the Frasnian, but ended with sudden extinction near the end of Frasnian. Ostracods were abundant during the Frasnian; their extinction coincided with anoxic deposition of the end−Frasnian black shale deposits. The early Famennian ostracod fauna is of low diversity. The brachiopod fauna of the late Frasnian (Palmatolepis rhenana and Pa. linguiformis zones) is dominated by atrypids, small−sized cyrtospiriferids, and the rhynchonellid Hunanotoechia. All atrypids disappeared before the F–F boundary with highest rates of extinction below the boundary (probably low in the Pa. linguiformis Zone). The Frasnian cyrtospiriferid fauna is also of low diversity and dominated by small taxa. All but one of the cyrtospiriferid taxa crossed the F–F boundary. The early Famennian post−extinction recovery brachiopod fauna was the result of rapid radiation of new forms shortly after the terminal Frasnian event. The early Famennian fauna is characterized by diverse cyrtospiriferids, abundant Yunnanellina and productoids. Above the early recovery fauna another fauna was recovered, with brachiopods Hunanospirifer and Yunnanella and is correlated with the late or latest Pa. crepida Zone. Sinalosia rugosa gen. et sp. nov. (Productida) is erected.

Abstract MAVs (Micro Air Vehicles) have attracted more and more attention in recent years because of their wide applications, such as investigations of inhospitable environment, nuclear or hazardous material polluted regions and other inaccessible areas. In this paper, both attitude and altitude controls of a Quad-Rotor type MAV are discussed and analyzed. To stabilize the attitude, one order memory based controller is selected, the performance of which is independent of the detail model information, leading to enhanced robustness. While for the altitude, a Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller is proposed. The experimental results of the real flight demonstrate the stability and robustness of the controllers.

In order to effectively solve condensation and icing problems of radiosonde in low-temperature environment at high altitude, humidity sensor heated automatic alternately to remove pollution and improve the measurement accuracy. Heat experiments obtained the curve of rising temperature and responsible time on heated twin humidity sensor in normal temperature and pressure, by expanded responsible curve to obtain heated model of twin heated humidity sensor and by the analysis of heating model, use DMC and PID control for heating respectively. Simulation results show that the DMC control meets the practical requirements of measure at high altitude.

Thermal properties, microstructure and magnetic properties of $Fe_{79}Zr_{9}B_{12},$ $Fe_{76}Zr_{9}B_{15},$ $Fe_{39.5}Co_{39.5}Zr_{9}B_{12}$ and $Fe_{38}Co_{38}Zr_{9}B_{15}$ alloys were investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer. High Co addition has a significant impact on the properties of alloys. High Co addition increases the main crystallization peak temperature and the crystallization activation energy. Moreover, high Co addition changes the crystallization products and influences the crystallization processes of $Fe_{79}Zr_{9}B_{12}$ and $Fe_{76}Zr_{9}B_{15}$ alloys. The specific saturation magnetization $(M_{s})$ increases and coercivity $(H_{c})$ decreases by high Co additions.

The present work provides a study on high concentration of arsenic removal from acid leaching solution of zinc oxide dust by water-quenched slag. The water-quenched slag is a waste slag produced from fuming furnace of lead pyrometallurgical process and used as a substitute of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate to precipitate arsenic at purification section. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, the addition of H2O2 and the addition of water-quenched slag on arsenic removal rate were systematically investigated. The reaction temperature of 70°C, reaction time of 1h, H2O2 addition of 10.8 mL/L and water-quenched slag addition of 17.8 g/L are identified as the best technical parameters. At the optimum conditions, the arsenic (III) with high concentration (As 4.13 g/L) is efficiently removed (arsenic removal rate > 99%). The filtrate (Fe 1.21 mg/L, As 1.53 mg/L) with low concentrations of arsenic and iron and the stable filter residue are also obtained successfully. The United States EPA Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) test shows that the As leachability never exceeds the regulatory limit of 5 mg/L As. The results suggest that the water-quenched slag shows potential for removing high concentration of arsenic from acid leaching solution of zinc oxide dust.

Pre-concentration is effectively applied in recovering wolframite from tungsten ore, due to its benefits of further upgrading tungsten ore and improving separation efficiency. The most important pre-concentration techniques for tungsten ore include gravity separation and magnetic separation, based on the fact that there are appreciable differences, between the desired wolframite and the gangue minerals, in density and magnetic susceptibility. This study investigated the separation efficiency of gravity pre-concentration (Falcon Concentrator) and high-gradient magnetic pre-concentration (SLon VPHGMS) for the beneficiation of a Canada tungsten ore. It is a low-grade type of ore with high silica and arsenic content, and an average content of WO3 is about 0.45%. The optimum conditions for different operational parameters of two pre-concentration separators were studied on this low-grade material. The results presented in this paper suggested that although both pre-concentration techniques were effective for producing pre-concentrates containing high WO3, magnetic pre-concentration showed significantly better separation efficiency. Over 90% of the feed was rejected as the final tailings, meanwhile, over 85% of arsenic minerals were removed with tailings, while the WO3 loss was less than 15%.

To study the selectivity of polyacrylamide in the selective floc flotation of fine coal, adsorption of anionic polyacrylamide (PAM A401) onto ultra-low ash coal and kaolinite was studied, including the adsorption thermodynamics, floc size distribution and wettability changes. The thermodynamics of the adsorption process at the low concentration of 0-16 mg/dm3 of PAM A401 were studied at different contact times, doses, temperatures and pH values. Thermodynamic parameters of ΔGo, ΔHo, ΔSo and Ea were evaluated to understand the nature of the adsorption process. The results indicated that PAM A401 was selectively adsorbed onto ultra-low ash coal rather than kaolinite. Physical adsorption was the predominant mechanism, and the adsorption of PAM A401 at 12 mg•dm-3 onto coal was 2.15-fold larger than the adsorption on kaolinite. After the adsorption of PAM A401, the lipophilic hydrophilic ratio (LHR) of coal decreased from 9.23 to 7.28, indicating that the coal became less hydrophobic than before. In contrast, the LHR of kaolinite increased from 1.44 to 1.65. Floc size measurements showed that the d10, d50 and d90 of coal flocculated by PAM A401 (at 12 mg/dm3, pH 6.5) were 3.18, 2.76 and 2.59-fold greater than the corresponding levels of these parameters for kaolinite flocs, respectively.

Nitrocellulose (NC) is a common, commercially available, cellulosederived material and has been functionalized and widely applied in microfluidic technology, immunoassays and biochemical analyses. However, existing testing parameters always fail to completely and accurately reflect its inherent quality. In this study, we have designed and assembled a novel automatic polarizing microscope test system (PMTS) to scientifically test the nitrogen content and uniformity of nitration of NC based on the chromogenic principle of a polarization microscope. The advantages of this system are: (i) the PMTS requires less sample (only a few micrograms); (ii) the test period is shorter and the results can be obtained within 20 min; (iii) the method belongs to the nondestructive testing group, and the NC sample is not burned, dissolved, or damaged; and (iv) this method has increased accuracy, and the deviation of the nitrogen content is less than ±0.05%. The properties of various NC samples prepared by different nitricsulfuric acid systems from raw materials with diverse maturities were determined via PMTS. Five NC samples with different nitrogen contents (10.9%, 11.5%, 11.8%, 12.6% and 13.5%) were tested, and the variance of the corresponding uniformity of nitration of these samples were 3.17, 1.61, 1.15, 1.76, and 2.83. The uniformity of nitration initially decreased and then increased with increasing nitrogen content, and the best uniformity of nitration appeared at a nitrogen content of 12%. We also found that fibre maturity has a positive effect on the uniformity of nitration. This testing device and method, with its cost-effectiveness and field-portability, can significantly improve the accuracy of nitration content and uniformity, and has an important value in practical applications.

Compared to reverse cationic flotation, the advantages of reverse anionic flotation include relatively lower sensitivity to slimes and lower reagent cost. Besides, anionic collectors were found to have excellent capability of selectively separating an ultrafine magnetite ore. Addition of a small amount of cationic collector into the anionic collector as the collector mixture can improve the metallurgical results of removing silicates in reverse flotation. In this paper, NaOL and DDA were used for reverse flotation of the ultrafine magnetic concentrate. The separation performance of the collector mixture was investigated at different ratios of NaOL and DDA. The results showed that a better separation performance was obtained for the collector mixture than for NaOL alone. There was an optimal molar ratio between NaOL and DDA equal to 10:1. In the flotation system with the presence of the collector mixture, the good selectivity was found when starch was used as a depressor for magnetite and CaO was used as an activator for quartz. The influences of starch and CaO dosages on the separation performance of magnetite, quartz and chlorite had been investigated through micro-flotation tests. The infrared spectral analysis showed stretching vibration peaks of chemical adsorption of the collector mixture on the magnetite surface. The peaks were not present when starch was used as the depressor for magnetite. The closed flotation tests on the magnetic concentrate with the particle size of -25 μm were performed in the laboratory. The Fe concentrate assaying 64.52 % was obtained with Fe recovery of 80.66%, for the Fe content of feed equal to 52.98%.

Bauxite is the major raw material for alumina production, and its Al2O3 grade improvement or desilication is a necessary process for production of high-grade alumina concentrates from bauxite ores. In practice, flotation presents an effective method for the processing of such ores. However, it is not sufficient to produce a concentrate product with high Al2O3 grade from the ores with a single flotation process, especially from these containing abundant carbonate minerals. In this investigation, hydrochloric acid leaching was used to remove dolomite impurity from the flotation concentrate of a bauxite ore, to improve its Al2O3 grade and Al2O3/SiO2 (A/S) ratio. Effects of three dominant parameters on the leaching performance, that is leaching time, leaching temperature and hydrochloric acid concentration, were investigated in details. When these parameters were optimized, the aluminum concentrate assaying 67.41% Al2O3 with 66.84% recovery and 7.44 A/S ratio was obtained from the bauxite ore assaying 42.94% Al2O3 with 2.48 A/S ratio. It was concluded that hydrochloric acid leaching proved an effective method for upgrading of flotation concentrate from a low-grade bauxite ore containing carbonate minerals.

In recent years, oil spill accidents have become increasingly frequent due to the development of marine transportation and massive oil exploitation. At present, satellite remote sensing is the principal method used to monitor oil spills. Extracting the locations and extent of oil spill spots accurately in remote sensing images reaps significant benefits in terms of risk assessment and clean-up work. Nowadays the method of edge detection combined with threshold segmenta- tion (EDCTS) to extract oil information is becoming increasingly popular. However, the current method has some limitations in terms of accurately extracting oil spills in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, where heterogeneous background noise exists. In this study, we propose an adaptive mechanism based on Otsu method, which applies region growing combined with both edge detection and threshold segmentation (RGEDOM) to extract oil spills. Remote sensing images from the Bohai Sea on June 11, 2011 and the Gulf of Dalian on July 17, 2010 are utilized to validate the accuracy of our algorithm and the reliability of extraction results. In addition, results according to EDCTS are used as a comparator to further explore validity. The comparison with results according to EDCTS using the same dataset demonstrates that the proposed self-adapting algorithm is more robust and boasts high-accuracy. The accuracy computing by the adaptive algorithm is significantly improved compared with EDCTS and threshold method.

Thermal behavior and microstructure of $Fe_{81 - x}Co_{x}Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ (x = 2, 4, 6) alloys were investigated by differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction. Both the supercooled liguid region Δ $T_{x}$ and the first crystallization peak temperature $T_{p1}$ are the lowest and the span Δ $T_{p}$ between $T_{p1}$ and $T_{p2}$ is the highest when 4 at.% Fe is substituted by Co. The crystallization activation energy $E_{p1}$ for $Fe_{75}Co_6Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ alloy is the minimum for the heating rates ν = 5-20 K/min. $E_{p1}$ for $Fe_{77}Co_4Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ alloy is the minimum for the heating rates ν = 20 - 50 K/min. The crystallization processes of $Fe_{81 - x}Co_{x}Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ (x = 2, 4, 6) amorphous alloys are similar on the whole, which is as follows: amorphous → amorphous + α-Fe(Co) → α-Fe(Co) + $Fe_3Zr$ + $Fe_2Nb_{0.4}Zr_{0.6}$.
