The article presents navigation system project operating on the principle scene matching area correlation (SMAC), using a digital camera, an MEMS e-compass sensor and an ultrasonic ranging module. Systems of this type are used as a component of advanced integrated navigation systems in view of its autonomy and capability of localizing aircrafts with high accuracy and precision. Steering and display of information are implemented using a computer application designed in Matlab programming environment. The object’s location is fixed, using discrete cross-correlation function through matching of the registered terrain image to digital orthophotomap. The article describes operations directly related to digital image processing, its implementation methods, a structural system design with explanations of each of the functional elements and presents devices used to build a complete integrated measurement unit model. It was used for the effectiveness measurement of determining the location of an object depending on the changes of angle and height of the flight as well as the luminance and noise level in a registered image. The measurements methodology was described which also includes an analysis of the results, an effectiveness evaluation and potential development directions of the designed system.
W artykule przedstawiono projekt systemu nawigacji obserwacyjno-porównawczej wykorzystującej kamerę cyfrową, magnetometr oraz impulsowy miernik odległości. Systemy tego typu znajdują zastosowanie jako elementy zaawansowanych zintegrowanych systemów nawigacyjnych, ze względu na swoją autonomiczność i możliwość lokalizacji statków powietrznych z bardzo dużą dokładnością i precyzją. Sterowanie i zobrazowanie realizowane jest przy użyciu aplikacji komputerowej opracowanej w środowisku Matlab. Miejsce położenia obiektu wyznaczane jest za pomocą dyskretnej funkcji korelacji krzżowej poprzez dopasowanie zarejestrowanego obrazu terenu do wzorca (ortofotomapy cyfrowej). W pierwszej części artykułu opisano operacje bezpośrednio związane z przetwarzaniem obrazów cyfrowych oraz ich zastosowanie dla potrzeb realizowanego projektu. W części drugiej przedstawiono strukturę opracowanego systemu wraz z opisem poszczególnych bloków funkcjonalnych oraz zaprezentowano urządzenia wykorzystane do budowy modelu kompletnej zintegrowanej jednostki pomiarowej. Model wykorzystano do przeprowadzenia pomiarów skuteczności wyznaczania miejsca położenia obiektu w zależności od zmian luminancji, kąta i wysokości lotu oraz poziomu zaszumienia obrazu. Dodatkowo przeprowadzono pomiary częstotliwości pracy systemu w zależności od stopnia rozszerzenia aplikacji o dodatkowe funkcje. Metodyka realizowanych badań została przedstawiona w części końcowej, wraz z analizą uzyskanych wyników, oceną efektywności oraz potencjalnymi kierunkami rozwoju opracowanego systemu.

During the last years we have observed fast development of the electronic devices and electronic warfare systems (EW). One of the most principal functions of the ESM/ELINT system is gathering basic information from the entire electromagnetic spectrum and its analysis. Simultaneously, utilization of some tools of artificial intelligence (AI) during the process of emitter identification is very important too. A significant role is played by measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT) based on non-intentional emission (calls-radiated emission). This emission is a source of knowledge about an analysed emitter due to its incidental "chemical", "spectral" traces and non-communication emitter's characteristics. The process of specific emitter identification (SEI) based on extraction of distinctive radiated emission features is presented by the authors. Specially important is utilization of a database (DB) in the process of identifying a detectable radar emission.

Several types of nonlinear filters (EKF — extended Kalman filter, UKF — unscented Kalman filter, PF — particle filter) are widely used for location estimation and their algorithms are described in this paper. In the article filtering accuracy for non-linear form of measurement equation is presented. The results of complex simulations that com-pare the quality of estimation of analyzed non-linear filters for complex non-linearities of state vector are presented. The moves of maneuvering object are described in two-dimensional Cartesian coordinates and the measurements are described in the polar coordinate system. The object dynamics is characterized by acceleration described by the univariate non-stationary growth model (UNGM) function. The filtering accuracy was evaluated not only by the root-mean-square errors (RMSE) but also by statistical testing of innovations through the expected value test, the whiteness test and the WSSR (weighted sum squared residual) test as well. The comparison of filtering quality was done in the MATLAB environment. The presented results provide a basis for designing more accurate algorithms for object location estimation.
W artykule opisane zostały algorytmy filtrów nieliniowych (rozszerzony EKF i bezśladowy UKF filtr Kalmana oraz filtr cząstkowy PF) stosowane powszechnie do estymacji położenia. Porównano dokładność estymacji tych filtrów dla nieliniowego równania pomiarowego. Zaprezentowane zostały rezultaty badań symulacyjnych porównujących jakość estymacji analizowanych rodzajów filtrów nieliniowych dla złożonej nieliniowości wektora stanu. Ruch obiektu manewrującego opisano w dwuwymiarowym układzie kartezjańskim, natomiast pomiary w polarnym układzie współrzędnych. Dynamikę obiektu charakteryzuje przyspieszenie opisane funkcją Univariate-Non-Stationary-Growth-Model. Efektywność badań, poza określaniem błędów średniokwadratowych RMSE, oceniano poprzez statystyczne testowanie innowacji za pomocą: testu wartości oczekiwanej, testu białości oraz testu WSSR (Weighted-Sum-Squared-Residual). Ocena jakości procesu filtracji została przeprowadzona w środowisku MATLAB. Przedstawione wyniki stanowią podstawę do projektowania dokładniejszych algorytmów estymacji położenia obiektu.

Opis:
The appropriate emitter database is one of the most important elements in the present electronic intelligence (ELINT) system. This paper provides an overview of the relational modelling, which is used to construct the emitter database for current ELINT systems. The method described, delivers the entities' relational diagram that is independent from the manner of the data storage in further process of implementation. This approach ensures the integrity of the measured data. The process of final emitter identification is based on "the knowledge-based approach" which was implemented during the process of constructing the database.

In this article there has been presented an innovative method of tire material recycling with the use of water jet technology including calculation of mass balance of the jetted water, velocity of the water flowing out of a nozzle, demand for power to drive the pump, or the energy consumption unit indicator. Moreover, an analysis of the dynamic impact of water jet on the tire has been made. Successive stages of the research, performed by the authors in order to develop the final model and construct the machine for tire recycling, have been described. In the final section of the paper there are calculation results and conclusions.

This article presents results of comparative studies into the roughness (very significant tribological factor) of surfaces cut using the AWJM method. Cutting was performed on samples made of quenched and tampered alloy steel (1.2080), plastic (polyamide PA6) and mineral material (syenite). Variable parameters in the cutting process included: jet pressure and feed. As a result of measurements involving selected roughness parameters (Ra, Rz and Rq), it was discovered that the majority of variable factors had a significant effect on the cut surface roughness. It was also demonstrated that the contact method measurements cannot be performed with regard to plastics because the results are characterised by a very great scatter of results values, making them unreliable.

W artykule przedstawiono wstępną weryfikację wpływu ilości lub braku cieczy chłodząco-smarującej na konstytuowaną podczas obróbki strukturę geometryczną powierzchni. Do oceny zmian cech w ukształtowaniu struktur obrabianych elementów przy różnych warunkach chłodzenia i smarowania oprócz powszechnie stosowanych parametrów chropowatości przyjęto stopień izotropowości uzyskanych powierzchni. Przeprowadzona analiza zweryfikowała przydatność zastosowania ich stopnia izotropowości do opisu cech struktury geometrycznej powierzchni.
This paper presents an initial verification of the influence of a cooling-lubrication liquid or its lack on the geometric surface structure of machine components undergoing the process of machining. It has been proposed to use the degree of isotropy of the finish surfaces, apart from commonly used roughness parameters, for the evaluation of changes in the quality of components machined in different cooling and lubrication conditions. In this study, the usefulness of the degree of isotropy for a description of the surface geometric structure characteristics has been verified.

Despite urbanization of contemporary society and limitation on the environmental areas, the threat of animal attacks on people is still an important social and medical problem. Although they usually do not have serious consequences, they are nevertheless disturbing and alarming enough to make people seek professional, medical help. The aim of this study was to estimate the epidemiology and the risk rate of animal related injuries in the urban and rural population, as well as to select the characteristics of such injuries, which are distinguishable from injuries caused by other factors. The work presents a retrospective analysis of the medical records of 1,872 patients treated at the Department of Trauma and Emergency Department between 2001-2004, who suffered from animal related injuries. Our analysis led to the following conclusions: Most animal related injuries, reported to doctors, are mild injuries. The threat of animal attack is similar in urban and in rural areas, and concerns mostly men between the ages of 22-40. Injuries caused by large animals, such as a horse or a cow, require hospitalization and should be considered as high-energy injuries. The vast majority were patients who after the treatment could return to their social and occupational activities; the mortality rate in hospitalized patients with animal related injuries was higher then in other injuries, but the difference was statistically irrelevant.

Introduction. The paper is a case report presenting Cat Scratch Disease (CSD) in a 1.5-year- old girl. Bartoneloses, including CSD, are a group of infectious diseases which are rarely detected, therefore there are no statistical data concerning the aetiology, and the incidence of CSD noted in Poland is low in comparison with other European countries. Objective. The purpose of the paper is to discuss several problems related to CSD. Materials and method. A 1.5-year-old girl who was seen in hospital for the sparing use of her left arm when crawling. X-rays showed osteolytic lesions which radiologists described as multi-ocular cyst or infection. As neither clinical examination nor laboratory investigations found pathological signs, the patient was followed-up on an ambulant basis. Repeated x-ray taken 4 weeks later showed increased periosteal proliferation accompanied by pain. The baby was admitted to the Clinic but additional investigations found no pathologies. The baby was consulted by a rheumatologist and haematologist; however, they did not facilitate a definitive diagnosis. As the baby developed, because of a thickening of the soft tissues on the dorsal side of the distal epiphisis in the forearm the doctors decided to inspect the condition operatively. Macroscopic examination found brownish granulated tissue. Suction drainage was inserted and a tissue sample was tested for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, tuberculosis and borelliosis. The test results were negative. The baby was in good condition, was not pyrexial and suffered from less pain. The diagnostics was further expanded and the baby tested for yersinia, chlamydia, tuberculosis and bartonella, i.e. CSD. The postoperative wound healed soon and radiological bony lesions began to resolve. After a month, we received a positive bartonella test result, the baby tested positively for Bartonella henselae IgG class, which confirmed past or active infection of CSD. A repeated test for B. henselae taken 6 months later showed a lower level of antibodies. Conclusions. It should be remembered that CSD, which is an extremely rare infection, can be diagnosed despite mediocre clinical and radiological manifestations. Thus, in the case of infections of unexplained aetiology and mediocre manifestations diagnostics should include testing for Bartonella henselae.

Introduction and objective: Postural defects increasingly more often concern children and adolescents at school age. The lack of prophylaxis and neglecting adequate procedures may lead to limitations of physical and motor abilities, back pain, or the development of severe spinal deformities. Recognition of the risk factors conducive to the occurrence of the disorder allows the creation of adequate conditions for the psychomotor development of children, as well as the elaboration and implementation of specified educational schemes directed at schools and parents. The study concerned determination of the risk factors for the development of postural defects in school age children. Material and methods: The study was conducted by means of a diagnostic survey. The study group covered 380 children aged 14 (175 girls (46.1%) and 205 boys (53.9%)) – selected at random from schools in eastern Poland and the Czech Republic. The significance of the relationships between variables was investigated by means of chi-square test for independence. The differences between the empirical and theoretical sample distribution was examined by means of chi-square goodnessof- fit test. The significance level was set at p=0.05. Results: The BMI in the population examined was 20.2, on average (from 14–39). Respondents living in rural areas and small towns constituted 57.63% of the study group, while inhabitants of medium-size and large cities – 42.37%. The majority of children in the study had been previously examined for the occurrence of postural defects (74.2%), whereas nearly every tenth child had never undergone such an examination. As many as 16.3% of adolescents did not know whether they had ever participated in a screening test. A defect was detected in 14.7% of children, in 56.6% no asymmetry was detected, while approximately 30% were not aware if their body posture was normal or not. Conclusions: 1. There is a relationship between physical activity of the child and the occurrence of postural defects. 2. There is a relationship between the economic standard of the family and awareness of own state of health. 3. There is a need for the creation of a system of education for parents and children concerning postural defects and risks resulting from these defects.
