Opis:
Ambisonic impulse responses (also known as the Spatial Impulse Responses) are getting more and more popular in many applications of room acoustics. Measuring, modeling, synthesizing, or simulating acoustics of interiors with emphasize on their spatial features are the examples. The present article shows a methodology of room acoustics auralization assessment using the ambisonics technology. A case study is shown for room acoustics capturing (measuring the Spatial Impulse Response) and reproducing with the use of a multi-channel sound system. An discussion and considerations about fidelity of such reconstruction is provided. Furthermore, a quantitative measure for the auralization quality is proposed. Also on-site experiments are described and their results presented to illustrate the theoretical considerations and outline options for future work. Obtained results show that most of the proposed quality factors meet the assumptions. After possible future modifications and additional research, the proposed methods could be used in evaluation of room acoustic auralization.

Opis:
The paper deals with the statistical reporting of a range of products related to environmental protection, manufactured for the conservation and management of natural resources. The latest regulations of the European Union, in the form of a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 2011 on European economic environmental accounts, impose reporting obligations in this field on the Member States. These requirements are based on the special prerequisites in accordance with the applicable/binding questionnaire prepared by Eurostat. This article presents the rules for creating statistical reporting on the environmental goods and services accounts according to these above mentioned requirements. The analysis and evaluation of methodological assumptions to the pilot project of the account of environmental goods and services prepared by Central Statistical Office of Poland for 2014 were undertaken within the research. Moreover, the consolidated results for those accounts were presented.

Opis:
Popularity of television and multitude of commercials during the TV broadcast lead to the analysis of its sound levels. Costs of commercials' time cause producers to make commercials much louder than a regular TV program. The article shows results of commercials and regular program sound level (RMS and FFT) analysis and the difference in sound levels of commercials compared to a regular program. The analysis also shows the difference between public and private TV. The authors of the article suggest a solution to this problem and its effects.

In virtual acoustics or artificial reverberation, impulse responses can be split so that direct and reflected components of the sound field are reproduced via separate loudspeakers. The authors had investigated the perceptual effect of angular separation of those components in commonly used 5.0 and 7.0 multichannel systems, with one and three sound sources respectively (Kleczkowski et al. (2015b). In that work, each of the front channels of the 7.0 system was fed with only one sound source. In this work a similar experiment is reported, but with phantom sound sources between the front loudspeakers. The perceptual advantage of separation was found to be more consistent than in the condition of discrete sound sources. The results were analysed both for pooled listeners and in three groups, according to experience. The advantage of separation was the highest in the group of experienced listeners.

Direct and ambient sounds are usually reproduced through the same loudspeakers. In multichannel systems, with the use of anechoic recordings and auralization techniques it is possible to separate these sound components so that they are reproduced via different loudspeakers. Four basic options of management of direct and reflected sounds were investigated in a perceptual experiment. One sound source and the standard 5.0 surround sound system was used. It was found that listeners consistently preferred sound reproduction with direct sound radiated from only one loudspeaker.

An Orthodox church as a building expresses the Eastern Orthodox spirituality – all the details and general aspects have a deep and philosophical meaning. The architecture, being an illustration of the character of the Orthodox Church liturgy, has become a natural component of the cultural landscape of Poland and Eastern Europe. Acoustic research into Orthodox churches has so far been marginalized. Up to now, only a few churches of this type have been studied. The article is a review of the acoustic environment of churches in Poland. Churches, differing in terms of size, architectural style and other quantities, were chosen and acoustic measurements were made. The results of the measurements have been analyzed and collated. In particular, a detailed analysis and comparison was made for reverberation time as a function of frequency, due to the largest differences in this parameter between the rooms.

The article presents the course and the results of an experiment, which aimed at the subjective assessment of the multi-channel impulse responses. The assessment was conducted considering the usefulness of the received responses for the conducting operation of the digital convolution. The resulting sound material is generated for the simulation of the characteristics of the room. In a medium-sized, rectangular reverberation room (74 $m^3$) a number of measurements of impulse responses were conducted with the use of multi-channel microphone techniques and with the use of SoundField type microphone. In identical conditions the raw sound material was recorded (in conditions of free field). Next, the convolution was performed between the raw material and the recorded impulse responses. The group of experts, whose members had at least 5 years of experience in the field of sound engineering, was subjected to the psychoacoustic tests aiming at comparison of the sound materials achieved in the convolution and in the recording.

The paper presents results of determination of sound wave direction based on signals from first-order ambisonic microphone. The experiment consisted in recording the test signals with the SoundField microphone positioned in the axis of the turntable in the anechoic chamber. The spherical coordinates of the sound intensity vector were calculated with use of three different conceptual and numerical approaches and were compared to actual values resulting from the geometry of the system. Accuracy of the localization of the sound source depending on the frequencies and the method for determination of the spherical coordinates as well as on the time constant and the parameters of the signal recording was presented. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the calculation methods used for localization of the sound source.

There are many objective parameters of the room impulse response which we can calculate that describe its acoustic field. The room impulse response can also be used to provide listening tests using the convolution technique. The aim of this work is to consider the influence of the impulse response measurement chain on objective numerical parameters and on the subjective perception of listeners. This article shows the impulse response measurement results obtained in the reverberation room using not only commonly known measurement chain elements but other elements, too. Standard components such as an omni-directional source and measurement microphone, as well as a consumer active loudspeaker and various audio recording stereo microphone pairs were used. The results are compared taking into consideration calculated numerical parameters and the application of calculated impulse responses to subjective listening tests. To determine the applicability of impulse responses to psychoacoustic listening tests, a preliminary listening test using headphones was carried out on a selected group of listeners. The audio test material consisted of samples of choral music and speech recorded in an anechoic room and convolved with previously analyzed impulse responses. This article shows how big the differences of subjective listener feelings are for different acoustic transducers.

The present High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments require unprecedented amount of computing power and storage space. We present the WLCG structure of the LHC computing, which will be used to perform data processing required by the ATLAS collaboration. We also describe the ATLAS detector full simulation chain. Finally, we quantify the computing needs and up-to-date usage of the ACK CYFRONET AGH resources by the ATLAS detector simulations.
Obecne eksperymenty fizyki wysokich energii wymagają niespotykanej mocy obliczeniowej i przestrzeni do przechowywania danych. Prezentujemy strukturę WLCG obliczeń LHC, która będzie użyta do przetwarzania danych na potrzeby współpracy ATLAS. Opisujemy również pełny łańcuch symulacji detektora ATLAS. Na zakończenie, przedstawiamy potrzeby obliczeniowe i aktualne użycie zasobów ACK CYFRONET AGH przez symulacje detektora ATLAS.

The quietness, defined as the near or complete absence of sound, in the context of the natural environment protection, may be considered a state in which no undesired of foreign sounds occur, and, by analogy to noise, analyzed in two aspects: that pertaining to measurements and the subjective one. The article discusses the lowest levels of sounds recorded at night in the soundscape of the Białowieża Forest. Due to low levels of the examined sounds and the technical problems that occurred while the sounds were being measured and registered, the acoustic examination of the measurement set-up in an anechoic chamber has also been presented. The research is aimed at defining precisely the concept of quietness prevailing in the nature in the subjective aspect by determining both the range of levels and the characteristics of preferred sounds.

This paper presents the results of the kinetic studies of the zinc sulfide concentrate oxidation with the addition of inert, ZnO-containing materials. It was observed that about 15% of zinc oxide addition, obtained from steelmaking dust, improves the rate and maximum degree of oxidation of the concentrate. Kinetic equations of the process were determined, and the activation energy for various additions of inert material was calculated.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań kinetycznych utleniania koncentratów siarczkowych cynku z dodatkiem materiałów obojętnych, zawierających ZnO. Stwierdzono, że dodatek około 15% tlenku cynku, otrzymanego z recyklingu pyłów stalowniczych, zwiększa szybkość i maksymalny stopień utlenienia koncentratu. Określono równania kinetyczne procesu i energię aktywacji dla różnych dodatków materiału obojętnego.

This paper presents the results of oxidation of zinc concentrates containing various iron compounds. Using the thermogravimetry and thermal analysis methods it was shown that the influence of the iron form affects the thermal oxidation process. They influence the rate of, oxidation of zinc sulphide and consequently the resulting rate of oxidation of the concentrate.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań utleniania koncentratów cynku zawierających różne związki żelaza. Wykorzystując metody termograwimetrii i analizy termicznej wykazano wpływ formy występowania żelaza na efekty cieplne utleniania. Rzutują one na szybkość utleniania siarczku cynku i związaną z tym szybkość utleniania koncentratu.

The authors of this publication provide selected achievements in the field of traffic modelling and simulation based on cellular automata. Presented models and experimental studies carried out on the basis of their application to simulate traffic movement. One of the most important aspects of traffic modelling is to use the motion detection systems. The authors simulate the detectors, which in practice will implement as induction loops. They contribute to the evaluation of queues at the intersection and entered the intersection to determine whether to enter the intersection is possible, from the point of view of possibility of leaving that intersection. Quantitatively characterizations are presented.
