Opis:
The article describes the results of the eco-balance analysis of the disused lead-acid batteries recycling technology. The analysis will be made using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. The analysis was developed using the SimaPro7.3.3. software. The life cycle assessment (LCA) was made using Ecological Scarcity and IMPACT2002 + methods. The results are shown as environmental points [Pt], which reflect the potential level of environmental burdens exerted by the analysed object. The results are presented in the environmental categories, which are grouped in the impact categories. For the Ecological Scarcity method, these are emission into air, water, soil, energy, and natural resources and deposited waste. For the IMPACT2002 + method: human health, climate changes, ecosystem quality and resources consumption. The boundaries of the system under investigation include the processes of mechanical battery scrap processing, desulfurization and crystallization processes (PI), the melting processes to obtain crude lead and refining processes (PII and PIII). As the functional unit, there was accepted 1 Mg of the processed battery scrap. Particular attention was paid to the airborne emission, which adversely affect human health and climate change. The technology for which the tests were conducted offers the possibility to recover other elements, for example, secondary lead, polypropylene and sulfuric acid as crystalline sodium sulphate.

The paper presents function of selection of measuring equipment - DWP function. Analysis of the individual elements of described the function can be used for isolation the most important measurement components of the selection of measuring equipment for selected measurement processes. The paper shows one chosen element of function of selection of measuring equipment - metrological characteristics. Those characteristics are shown on the example of chosen measuring equipment which is used in the alignment deviation measurements carried out during the assembly of elements of the ships propulsion system.
W artykule przedstawiono funkcję doboru wyposażenia pomiarowego - funkcja DWP. Analiza poszczególnych elementów przedstawionej funkcji może służyć wyodrębnieniu najistotniejszych składników doboru wyposażenia pomiarowego dla wybranych zadań pomiarowych. W artykule zobrazowano jeden z elementów funkcji doboru wyposażenia pomiarowego - właściwości metrologiczne. Charakterystyki te przedstawiono na przykładzie wyposażenia pomiarowego wykorzystywanego w trakcie pomiarów odchyłki współosiowości realizowanych w trakcie montażu elementów okrętowego układu napędowego.

Opis:
This paper presents chosen activities of the ships propulsion system shafting alignment procedure. The main focus in this paper was put on sighting through (bore sighting) which can be done with three different types of measurement equipment: piano were, optical instruments and laser instruments. The analysis of measurement equipment allows selection of most optimal measurement solution for company. The matter of this selection is to avoid hazard to the shaft line due to shafts misalignment. Presented in paper measuring techniques and measurement equipment which is being used for sighting trough the elements of ships propulsion system meet technological requirements requested by the client and by the ship classification society.
W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie procedury osiowania układu napędowego statku. Skoncentrowano się na ustawianiu bezpośrednim z wykorzystaniem trzech różnych przyrządów pomiarowych. Do pomiarów wykorzystano strunę stalową, urządzanie optyczne i urządzenie laserowe. Przedstawienie trzech różnych grup przyrządów pozwala na wybór najbardziej optymalnego rozwiązania dla przedsiębiorstwa. Istotą tego doboru jest uniknięcie zagrożenia dla linii wałów wynikającą z przekroczenia parametrów współosiowości. Omawiane techniki i przyrządy pomiarowe służące do bezpośredniego ustawiania elementów okrętowego układu napędowego spełniają wymagania technologiczne stawiane zarówno przez klienta jak i towarzystwa klasyfikacyjne.

Article describes projects currently carried out in Europe, which were aimed at evaluating the implementation effects of Pan-European eCall system that is based on GSM technology. For this purpose there were performed pilot implementations and socioeconomic evaluation of system components in terms of profits and costs. Research projects, which were carried out in: Germany, France, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary demonstrated the possibility of reducing the number of casualties and severe injuries as a results of traffic accidents by shortening the time needed by emergency services on the road for rescue actions. Paper presents a summary describing European research projects results and it underlines most important benefits of eCall implementation and important. It also includes important eCall facts and events. Article shows that development of new rescue solutions has an impact on decreasing negative effect of road collisions. In summary article describes major requirements that are needed to introduce eCall system in all EU membership countries, requirements include emergency number network, devices in vehicles and architecture.

According to the data from the Ministry of Finance, in January 2007 alone, there were 69 2 71 used passenger cars imported to Poland from the European Union. This represents an increase of over 85.7% more cars as compared to the January last year. This figure amounts to over 761 Mg of future waste to be recycled. As the amount of disused cars increases every year, utilization of the waste from these cars is becoming a problem. The article presents analysis of the problems with the system of recycling disused cars. The particular attention of the authors has been paid to the pro-ecological aspect of vehicles design, which the car manufacturers have been obliged to, by the European Parliament and Council Directive Nr 2000/53/WE of2000. The share of composite materials and plastics used in the car industry is ever increasing. Modification of the materials to facilitate disassembly and vehicle recycling is one of the problems of contemporary recycling. The analysis presented in the article will encompass materials used in vehicle production, susceptibility to various recycling methods and solutions implemented by selected car manufacturers. The article described also the basic legal requirements for car manufacturers resulting from a law on End of Life vehicles.
Według danych Ministerstwa Finansów tylko w styczniu 2007r. z Unii Europejskiej sprowadzono do Polski 69271 używanych samochodów osobowych. Stanowi to wzrost o ponad 85,7% więcej samochodów w odniesieniu do stycznia ubiegłego roku. Liczba ta daje ponad 761 Mg odpadów do przyszłego przetworzenia. W związku ze wzrostem liczby pojazdów wycofywanych corocznie z eksploatacji problemem staje się zagospodarowanie odpadów pochodzących z tych pojazdów. W artykule przedstawiono analizę problemów związanych z systemem recyklingu pojazdów wycofanych z eksploatacji. Szczególną uwagę autorzy zwrócili na aspekt proekologicznego projektowania pojazdów, do którego producenci samochodów zostali zobligowani między innymi Dyrektywą Parlamentu Europejskiego i Rady Nr 2000/53/WE z 2000 r. Udział materiałów kompozytowych i tworzyw sztucznych stosowanych w przemyśle motoryzacyjnym wciąż wzrasta. Jednym z problemów współczesnego recyklingu jest modyfikacja materiałów w celu ułatwienia demontażu i recyklingu pojazdów. Analiza przedstawiona w artykule będzie obejmowała materiały stosowane w produkcji pojazdów, podatność na różne metody recyklingu, rozwiązania wdrożone przez wybrane koncerny samochodowe. W artykule opisane zostaną również podstawowe wymagania prawne obowiązujące producentów samochodów, wynikające z ustawy o recyklingu pojazdów wycofanych z eksploatacji.

Opis:
The effect of prolonged storage on α-amylases activity in wheat and malted wheat grain was studied. It was demonstrated that four-year storage increases the activity of α-amylases and at the same time decreases the total activity of combined α- and β-amylases and the protein level.
Badano wpływ długotrwałego czasu przechowywania na aktywność amylolityczną w ziarnie pszenicy i jej słodach. Do badań użyto ziarno pszenicy ozimej odmiany ARIA oraz jej słody: 4-dniowy z dodatkiem kwasu giberelinowego (GA3) i 6-dniowy bez GA₃. W ekstraktach z ziarniaków pszenicy i jej słodów oznaczono zawartość białka, łączną aktywność α i β-amylaz oraz aktywność α-amylaz, a także liczbę opadania. Wszystkie analizy wykonano 3 miesiące po zbiorze pszenicy i po 4 latach przechowywania ziarna. Stwierdzono, że 4-letni okres przechowywania ziarna w kontrolowanych warunkach wpływa na wzrost aktywności α-amylaz, jednocześnie obniżając łączną aktywność α i β-amylaz oraz poziom białka.

Interfacial reactions between thin films of Zn and GaAs were studied by means of transmission electron microscopy. Low-temperature interaction is governed by the penetration of Zn into the native oxide layer at the metal/GaAs interface. At 360°C the formation of Zn$\text{}_{3}$As$\text{}_{2}$ phase, highly oriented with respect to the (100) substrate takes place.

Opis:
The relationship between electrical properties and microstructure of pure Zn and AuZn contacts to p-GaAs has been studied. The obtained results prove that mechanism responsible for the ohmic behaviour of these contacts is associated with the lowering of the potential barrier at metal/semiconductor interface, resulting from the phase transformations in the metallization.

Opis:
The analysis of phosphorus release from Au/InP contacts heat treated at temperature from the range 360-480°C showed that P evaporation accompanies any stage of contact reaction. The use of encapsulating layer during contact annealing suppresses the loss of phosphorus and changes the kinetics of thermally activated interfacial reaction.

Opis:
Zn-O-N thin films fabricated by reactive radio frequency magnetron sputtering have been investigated for their compositional, structural, transport and optical properties. In contrast to processes in which the reaction for either the oxide or the nitride is dominant, the multireaction process yields a substantially amorphous films with the Hall mobility within the range from 15 to 80 cm²/(V s). In addition, it has been observed that the Hall mobility increases for Zn-O-N. Since it has a narrower bandgap than ZnO, it is put forward that the high mobility is due to the valence band maximum in this material lying above the trap states in the gap commonly observable in ZnO. These traps originate from oxygen vacancies and are localized at the bottom of the band gap influencing the carrier mobility.

Opis:
The effects of interaction between thin films of Zn and (100)InP were studied with secondary ion mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Zn was found to penetrate the native oxide on InP surface during deposition and to form an ohmic contact when deposited on highly doped n-type InP. Heat treatment causes the formation of Zn$\text{}_{3}$P$\text{}_{2}$ phase lattice matched to InP.

Magnetotransport characterisation of field effect transistors processed on GaAs/GaAlAs heterostructure was done at 4.2 K for magnetic fields (B) up to 7 T. Three field effect transistors were processed on a single dice and differed by the length (L) of the gate. Electron mobility (μ) in field effect transistors was estimated from dependence of transistor's conductivity vs. B. The results show a decrease inμ with decreasing L that suggests that scattering by edges of the gated part of a transistor limits the electron mobility. Quality factor (Q) of transistors as resonant detectors of THz radiation was calculated. A high value of Q shows that such field effect transistors with sub-micron L are promising devices that can operate at THz frequencies.

Ar-O-Zn plasma discharges created during DC reactive magnetron sputtering of a Zn target and RF reactive magnetron sputtering of a ceramic ZnO target were investigated and compared by means of the Langmuir probe measurements in order to determine the mechanism of growth of porous Zn films during DC-mode Zn reactive sputtering. The power supplied to the magnetrons during the sputtering was kept at 125 W and the plasma was characterised as a function of oxygen content in the sputtering gas mixture, ranging from 0 to 60% for two gas pressures related to porous Zn film deposition, namely 3 mTorr and 5 mTorr. Based on the correlation of plasma properties measurements with scanning electron microscope imaging and X-ray diffraction of the films deposited under selected conditions it was found that the growth of porous, polycrystalline Zn films was governed by high electron density in the plasma combined with a high electron temperature and an increased energy of the ions impinging on the substrate.

The article presents the results of modelling and simulation of normally-off AlGaN/GaN MOS-HEMT transistors. The effect of the resistivity of the GaN:C layer, the channel mobility and the use of high-κ dielectrics on the electrical characteristics of the transistor has been examined. It has been shown that a low leakage current of less than 10⁻⁶ A/mm can be achieved for the acceptor dopant concentration at the level of 5×10¹⁵cm⁻³. The limitation of the maximum on-state current due to the low carrier channel mobility has been shown. It has also been demonstrated that the use of HfO₂, instead of SiO₂, as a gate dielectric increases on-state current above 0.7A/mm and reduces the negative influence of the charge accumulated in the dielectric layer.
