    The ideology of transhumanism is subjected to analysis for the personal and social safety. Because of the personal safety, to a large extent, is determined by the rules of morality, it poses the question of ethics in transhuman or posthuman society. The reconstructed ethics of transhumanism appears to be close to a hedonism. There is considered the sense of personal safety in three philosophical concepts of society: Platonic, Epicurean and Hobbes’. That analysis shows defects of Epicurean hedonism and utilitarianism. Therefore it is suggested the Aristotelian-personalistic eudaimonism as the best guarantee of personal safety.

    Opis:
    The paper considers the problem of information credibility. Currently, such a problem is affecting scientists, as well as ordinary people who are dependent on information networks. Hence, the Author formulates three postulates that should be observed in dealing with the quality of information: P1 – identify the source of information, P2 – determine the level of credibility of the information source, P3 – recognize the purpose of information dissemination. The first two postulates are universal because they are applicable to all the users of information. The third becomes more and more important in the social and political choices of citizens. In scientific work, empirical facts are being transformed to empirical data (increasingly, to the form of big data) which are results of advanced registration and processing by means of technical and information science tools, such as: a) technical transforming the empirical signal into information; b) statistical selection of signals, and, next, statistical processing of the received data; c) assessment of results for suitability in applications. Other “epistemic” factors, however, are also involved, as: d) conceptual apparatus used for idealization (and then for interpretation), e) assessment of the results in terms of compliance with the epistemological (sometimes, also commercial or ideological) position. All these factors should be the subject of careful study of errology proposed by P. Homola.
    Rozważany jest problem wiarygodności informacji. Problem ten dotyka zarówno naukowców, jak i zwykłych ludzi zależnych od sieci informacyjnych. Sformułowano zatem trzy postulaty, które są niezbędne do dbania o jakość informacji: P1 – zidentyfikowanie źródła informacji, P2 – określenie poziomu wiarygodności źródła informacji, P3 – ustalenie celu rozpowszechniania informacji. Pierwsze dwa postulaty są uniwersalne, ponieważ dotyczą wszystkich użytkowników informacji. Trzeci staje się coraz ważniejszy w wyborach społecznych i politycznych obywateli. W pracy naukowej fakty empiryczne przekształcane są w dane empiryczne (coraz częściej w postaci tzw. big data), które są wynikiem coraz bardziej zaawansowanego rejestrowania i przetwarzania za pomocą narzędzi technicznych i informatycznych, takich jak: a) techniczne przekształcenie sygnału empirycznego w informację, b) statystyczny dobór sygnałów i dalsze przetwarzanie statystyczne otrzymanych danych, c) ocena wyników pod kątem przydatności w zastosowaniach. W grę wchodzą jednak także inne czynniki „epistemiczne”, takie jak: d) aparat pojęciowy wykorzystywany do idealizacji (a następnie interpretacji), e) ocena wyników pod kątem zgodności z pozycją epistemologiczną (czasem także komercyjną i ideologiczną). Wszystkie te czynniki powinny być przedmiotem dokładnego studium tzw. errologii zaproponowanej przez P. Homola.

    Autorka artykułu przedstawia zagadnienia związane z wiarygodnością informacji. Wymienia trzy zasady konieczne do zadbania o jakość informacji: zidentyfikowanie źródła informacji, określenie poziomu wiarygodności źródła informacji oraz ustalenie celu rozpowszechniania informacji. Pierwsze dwie zasady są oczywiste dla wszystkich użytkowników informacji. Ustalenie celu rozpowszechniania informacji jest szczególnie istotne w wyborach społecznych i politycznych obywateli. Autorka omawia także zagadnienie big data oraz proces rejestrowania i przetwarzania danych za pomocą narzędzi technicznych i informatycznych. Nawiązuje także do errologii P. Homola.

    On the basis of the analysis of the text of Karol Wojtyła’s habilitation dissertation, and the concept of ethics by Max Scheler reconstructed in the text, the understanding of duty („ought”, das Sollen) in both authors is presented, and the need to introduce duty into the system of ethics is discussed. Scheler’s phenomenological approach focuses on the feeling of moral values, which are legitimized by moral improvement and, at the same time, excluded by duty. Wojtyła’s Catholic personalism requires the realization of values in act, and hence translating them into duty. Types of duty communication in the form of commandments and evangelical counsels are discussed, which does not limit the freedom of the will. Wojtyła’s arguments against the Schelerian system from the standpoint of the Christian ethics are presented, exposing the morality of human efficacy, in which the key role is played by the objectification of values and the participation of conscience.
    Na podstawie analizy tekstu rozprawy habilitacyjnej Karola Wojtyły i zrekonstruowanej w niej koncepcji etyki Maksa Schelera przedstawia się rozumienie powinności u obu autorów oraz dyskutuje się potrzebę wprowadzenia powinności do systemu etyki. Fenomenologiczne podejście Schelera jest skupione na przeżyciu wartości moralnych, które legitymuje doskonalenie moralne i jednocześnie wyklucza powinność. Personalizm katolicki Wojtyły wymaga zaś urzeczywistnienia wartości w czynie, a więc przełożenia ich na powinność. Omawia się rodzaje przekazu powinności w postaci przykazań i rad ewangelicznych, które nie ograniczają wolności woli. Przybliża się argumenty Wojtyłowej krytyki systemu Schelera z pozycji etyki chrześcijańskiej, eksponujące moralność ludzkiego sprawstwa, w której kluczową rolę odgrywa uprzedmiotowienie wartości i udział w tym sumienia.

    The phenomenon of aggression is the subject of neurophysiology, psychology, sociology and political science. The influence of cultural factors on the occurrence and the level of aggression between groups is raised especially in sociology. In the article – on the example of the analysis of Thomas Hobbes’s philosophical anthropology and his theory of the state (commonwealth) – the deeper level of cultural sources of aggression is considered, namely the impact of ontological assumptions on the model of human functioning and their translation into social and political practice. The original analysis of the influence of Hobbes’s antropology shows that man-mechanism is especially exposed to aggression and depression. Such a diagnosis has consequences in low level of personal safety and in high demand for external security structure. Personal safety is here analysed in three layers: ontic-cultural, psychological-social, and instrumental-defensive.

    The work contains an analysis of security culture phenomenon from the perspective of Sun Tzu. The idea here is to build the entire universe and a placed-in man, as an area in which operate the impact from the energy of macrocosm. It is the same – corresponding to the body of the universe – with microcosm – the body of a human being immersed in the interaction energy of the endless universe. This concept, combining with the ideas of Confucianism and Buddhism, which here are not broadly discussed, has practical application for over two thousand years in the deliberations on the various areas of human activity. The principles of building and applying of strategies and tactics are to some extent determined by the rhythm of the endless universe cosmic energy – chi (qi). Prevention of risks in an effective way by competent governance in time of peace, and a skilful command in war, comes down to an agile mediation between “Heaven” and “Earth” to use the rhythm of cosmic harmony in the ranks of subordinates.

    Opis:
    Dimethylallyl diphosphate, an isomer of isopentenyl diphosphate, is a common substrate of Mod5p, a tRNA modifying enzyme, and the farnesyl diphosphate synthase Erg20p, the key enzyme of the isoprenoid pathway. rsp5 mutants, defective in the Rsp5 ubiquitin-protein ligase, were isolated and characterized as altering the mitochondrial/cytosolic distribution of Mod5p. To understand better how competition for the substrate determines the regulation at the molecular level, we analyzed the effect of the rsp5-13 mutation on Erg20p expression. The level of Erg20p was three times lower in rsp5-13 compared to the wild type strain and this effect was dependent on active Mod5p. Northern blot analysis indicated a regulatory role of Rsp5p in ERG20 transcription. ERG20 expression was also impaired in pkc1Δ lacking a component of the cell wall integrity signaling pathway. Low expression of Erg20p in rsp5 cells was accompanied by low level of ergosterol, the main end product of the isoprenoid pathway. Additionally, rsp5 strains were resistant to nystatin, which binds to ergosterol present in the plasma membrane, and sensitive to calcofluor white, a drug destabilizing cell wall integrity by binding to chitin. Furthermore, the cell wall structure appeared abnormal in most rsp5-13 cells investigated by electron microscopy and chitin level in the cell wall was increased two-fold. These results indicate that Rsp5p affects the isoprenoid pathway which has important roles in ergosterol biosynthesis, protein glycosylation and transport and in this way may influence the composition of the plasma membrane and cell wall.
