    Nowadays, unprecedented amounts of heterogeneous data collections are stored, processed and transmitted via the Internet. In data analysis one of the most important problems is to verify whether data observed or/and collected in time are genuine and stationary, i.e. the information sources did not change their characteristics. There is a variety of data types: texts, images, audio or video files or streams, metadata descriptions, thereby ordinary numbers. All of them changes in many ways. If the change happens the next question is what is the essence of this change and when and where the change has occurred. The main focus of this paper is detection of change and classification of its type. Many algorithms have been proposed to detect abnormalities and deviations in the data. In this paper we propose a new approach for abrupt changes detection based on the Parzen kernel estimation of the partial derivatives of the multivariate regression functions in presence of probabilistic noise. The proposed change detection algorithm is applied to oneand two-dimensional patterns to detect the abrupt changes.

    Opis:
    In the paper we develop an algorithm based on the Parzen kernel estimate for detection of sudden changes in 3-dimensional shapes which happen along the edge curves. Such problems commonly arise in various areas of computer vision, e.g., in edge detection, bioinformatics and processing of satellite imagery. In many engineering problems abrupt change detection may help in fault protection e.g. the jump detection in functions describing the static and dynamic properties of the objects in mechanical systems. We developed an algorithm for detecting abrupt changes which is nonparametric in nature and utilizes Parzen regression estimates of multivariate functions and their derivatives. In tests we apply this method, particularly but not exclusively, to the functions of two variables.

    The reference point for deliberations is constituted by two documents: the Apostolic Constitution of Francis Episcopalis communio and the final document of XV General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops dedicated to the problems of young people Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment. The synodal document presented the issues which were not discussed during the synodal sessions and concern the synodal path of the Church. The author reflects on common elements of both documents and interprets each of them in the light of the other one. He highlights the element of discernment of gifts, charisms, and conscience, which determine the position of the faithful in the ecclesial community and influence the bonds between them and the pastors of the Church. Extending the area of implementation of the synodal character of the Church allows the author to ask the question about the model of the presence of the Church in the world. The author points out similarities between the synodal way and the methodology of ecumenical dialogue, which may affect summoning of the Synod dedicated to ecumenical issues.

    On account of differences in translation of canon 223 §2 into Polish and associated interpretation controversies, the article presents an interpretation of the canon based on its sources and an explanatory note issued by the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts. The Author demonstrates ambiguities which, in his opinion, are related to the narrowing of the meaning of the Latin word moderari and presentation of bonum commune as a general clause. Moreover, the postulate expressed in canon studies to include the last sentence of Dignitatis humanae 7 into the canon is upheld.

    Opis:
    The author of the study deliberates whether the right to contraception can be described as a human right. He makes his speculations on the basis of a broader context of reflections concerning the relationship of human rights with the natural law, to which the former ones refer. The point of reference is recognizing the right as a good which co-creates a man. Contraception is not such a good since it is not an ontological value, that is, the one which does not entail anti-values.
    L’auteur de l’étude se demande si le droit à la contraception peut être défini comme un droit de l’homme. Ses réflexions tournent dans un contexte plus large concernant la relation entre les droits de l’homme et le droit naturel, duquel relèvent les premiers. Considérer le droit comme un bien co-créé par l’homme est notre point de repère. La contraception n’est pas un bien, car elle n’est pas une valeur au sens d’une valeur ontologique, c’est-à-dire qui n’implique pas d’anti-valeurs.
    L’autore del presente studio si chiede se il diritto alla contraccezione possa essere definito come un diritto dell’uomo. Le sue riflessioni fanno riferimento al più ampio contesto dei rapporti tra i diritti dell’uomo e il diritto naturale, a cui quelli primi si rifanno. Il punto di riferimento è il riconoscimento del diritto come un bene alla creazione del quale l’uomo compartecipa. Intesta in questi termini, la contraccezione non è un bene concerti cosi, perché non è un valore nel senso di valore ontologico, e cioè che non comporta antivalori.

    Announcing in the German Church the so called synodal way provoked discussions concerning the participation and joint responsibility of all the faithful in the implementation of the Church mission, especially with regard to exercising power and making binding decisions. The aim of the presented reflections (comments) is to look at the discussion in the light of the theory of participation, analysed by Karol Wojtyła in his work The Acting Person. The co-existence of the community of action and the personal value of the act and experiencing as one`s own jointly made decisions may set the direction for new paradigms of exploring sensus fidei.

    With increasing age, the frequency of chronic pain increases compared to acute pain. This is due to structural and functional changes caused by ageing of the nervous system. The aim of this study was to investigate relationships between personality traits, optimism, quality of life, and subjective assessment of pain measured experimentally with an algometer and clinically with the Visual Analoque Scale (VAS). In the group of 133 seniors (61-86 years; 78% women), we used an algometer to measure pain threshold and tolerance, the VAS scale to assess subjective intensity, and standardized questionnaires (EPQ-R(s), LOTR, SWLS) to measure psychological variables. Extraversion was found to promote both higher pain threshold and higher pain tolerance, whereas pain tolerance was negatively correlated with neuroticism. Higher severity of the psychotic trait was associated with more intense subjective pain experience. Optimism and overall quality of life were not associated with any pain measures. A better understanding of the personality correlates of pain perception could support a more accurate tailoring of pain management in elderly patients.

    Remigiusz Sobański (†2010) was highly appreciated in the world of post-Council canon law studies. His research was published in many languages. Most of his scientific achievements were presented in the Polish language. For this reason, I reach for studies unknown to a wider community of canonists in order to present Professor Sobański’s views on theology of canon law, whose subject matter was a predominant topic of his scientific interests. I present the thematic scope of theology of canon law, its role in reference to fundamental issues of canon law, but also its inadequacy. Sobański thought that in order to fully illustrate the basic issues of canon law, theological approach should coexist with the legal one within one theory of canon law.
    Remigiusz Sobański (†2010) cieszył się uznaniem w świecie posoborowej kanonistyki. Jego badania naukowe zostały opublikowane w wielu językach. Większość jednak dorobku naukowego została przedstawiona w języku polskim. Z tego względu Autor opracowania sięga do nieznanych dla szerszej społeczności kanonistów opracowań, by przedstawić poglądy R. Sobańskiego na temat teologii prawa kanonicznego, której tematyka była wiodącym przedmiotem jego naukowych zainteresowań. Prezentuje zakres tematyczny teologii prawa kanonicznego, jej rolę w odniesieniu do podstawowych zagadnień prawa kanonicznego, ale również jej niewystarczalność. R. Sobański sądził, że dla pełnego zobrazowania podstawowych zagadnień prawa kanonicznego podejście teologiczne powinno współistnieć z prawnym w ramach jednej teorii prawa kanonicznego.
    Remigiusz Sobanski (†2010) a bénéficié d’une reconnaissance dans le monde de la canonistique postconciliaire. Ses recherches scientifiques ont été publiées dans de nombreuses langues. Cependant, la plupart de ses travaux scientifiques ont été présentés en polonais. Voilà pourquoi l’Auteur du présent article s’intéresse à des études inconnues de la communauté des canonistes pour présenter les points de vue de Sobański sur la théologie du droit canonique, dont le sujet était l’objet principal de son intérêt scientifique. Il présente le champ thématique de la théologie du droit canonique, son rôle par rapport aux questions fondamentales du droit canonique, mais aussi son insuffisance. Sobański pensait que pour illustrer pleinement les questions fondamentales du droit canonique, l’approche théologique devait coexister avec l’approche juridique au sein d’une seule et même théorie du droit canonique.
