The aim of the study was to evaluate herbage dry matter intake in 16 beef cows which grazed continuously on permanent pastures within the “The Warta Estuary” National Park (Poland), using the minimally invasive method based on n-alkanes as markers (C29, C31, C33). Significant differences were observed in the nutritive value of herbage collected for analyses by cutting or nipping. The calculated content of energy and protein in the nipped herbage was higher: UFL by 58.1% and PDI by 50%, with a higher digestibility of nutrients. The values obtained for DM intake in pasture herbage by cows were closest to the standards when calculations were based on the C29/C32 pair of n-alkanes. However, the best prediction of DM intake estimation from creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) pasture, in agreement with the accepted energy and protein standards, was based on the proportions between alkanes C31/C32.
Celem badań była ocena spożycia suchej masy roślinnej na przykładzie 16 krów mięsnych, które w sposób ciągły wypasane były na pastwiskach w Parku Narodowym „Ujście Warty” (Polska), z zastosowaniem minimalnie inwazyjnej metody wykorzystującej jako wskaźniki n-alkany (C29, C31, C33). Istotne różnice zaobserwowano w przypadku wartości odżywczej roślinności pozyskanej do analizy przez koszenie lub uszczykiwanie. Obliczona zawartość energii i białka była wyższa w przypadku roślin uszczykiwanych: UFL o 58.1%, a PDI o 50%, czemu towarzyszyła wyższa strawność składników odżywczych. Wartości dotyczące pobrania suchej masy wraz z roślinnością przez zwierzęta były najbliższe norm, gdy obliczenia oparto na stosunku n-alkanów C29/C32. Najdokładniejsze oszacowanie pobrania suchej masy z mietlicy rozłogowej (Agrostis stolonifera) z pastwiska, zgodne z przyjętymi normami dotyczącymi energii i białka, uzyskano w oparciu o stosunek alkanów C31/C32.

Employability, understood as a set of achievements – skills, knowledge, personal qualities – that make graduates employable and successful in their profession, is more and more often a subject of research, both in the context of improving the educational offer of universities, as well as examining the quality of life and professional satisfaction of graduates. Employability is differentiated from employment – the state of having a job. In today’s unstable job market where temporary contracts and protean-type careers dominate – equipping graduates with the resources to effectively change or modify their career path is crucial. The paper aims to present the psychometric proprieties of a Polish adaptation of the A. Rothwell and Arnold Self-Perceived Employability Scale. The final version consists of 9 items and has good psychometric properties. The study of the perceived employability of students provides important knowledge regarding the graduates’ competencies, and it is an important factor in modifying the educational offer at universities and planning graduates’ satisfying careers in the contemporary unstable job market.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a Group 1 carcinogen. Its influence on the carcinogenesis of gastric cancer has been confirmed in many research studies. The conclusion is obvious - early detection and eradication of Hp can prevent the development of the disease. Methods: The objective of the study was to analyze the clinical and practical value of Carbon-13 urea breath test (UBT) in patients hospitalized due to pain complaints in the upper abdomen and dyspeptic symptoms. Fifty patients were enrolled in the study. Each patient underwent urea breath test according to the instruction included by the producer. Thereafter, each patient included in the study group was subjected to endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract with the biopsy of the mucosa to determine the urease activity with rapid urease test (RUT). Results: In the study group, 14 patients (28%) achieved a positive urease test result which was confirmed in RUT. Four (8%) patients, despite a positive breath test, did not have a positive result in urease activity test from gastric mucosa. In 2 cases (4%) despite negative result of UBT, urease activity was confirmed in gastroscopic sections. The remaining 30 patients (60%) had a negative result in both studies. Conclusions: The limited availability of the gold standard for diagnostics of upper gastrointestinal tract diseases (gastroscopy) is the basis for the search for new methods of detection of Helicobacter pylori infections. The urea breath test is a method of high sensitivity and specificity. The positive result of urea breath test may be the basis for inclusion of eradication therapy.

Opis:
The paper presents the authors’ method and test rig for performing the deformation analysis of unmanned aircraft fuselages. To conduct the analysis, the DIC system was used, as well as a test rig designed and constructed by the authors, equipped with a dedicated control and load control system. The article presents a description of the research capabilities of the test rig developed for testing the deformation of unmanned aircraft fuselages. Due to the specific operating conditions of the designed fuselage,the test rig developed allows the simulation of loads corresponding to different flight conditions. In addition, it is possible to change the forces acting on the fuselage simultaneously for all servos or each of them separately. Finally, results showing the displacement of component control points for the considered fuselage versions are presented. The tests carried out using the developed test rig allowed the verification of the maximum deformations. The two versions of the composite fuselage of an aerial vehicle have been compared in the paper. The created measurement system and performed analyzes have enabled us to identify and quantitatively analyze the weaknesses of the construction. The results have enabled us to geometrically modify the constructionso the mass of the fuselage reduced by 19% and a coefficient of construction balance increased by 22%.
