We give a short survey on the theory of the mixed boundary-value problem for the stationary Fourier equation in a non-homogeneous medium defined on any Lipschitz domain $\Omega \rcup \mathbb{R}^{n} (n \ge 2)$. The compatibility condition for the thermal flux has been established by the standard procedure of integration the divergence.

Opis:
How can one compute the sum of an infinite series s := a1 + a2 + ź ź ź ? If the series converges fast, i.e., if the term a(n) tends to 0 fast, then we can use the known bounds on this convergence to estimate the desired sum by a finite sum a1 +a2 +ź ź ź+a(n). However, the series often converges slowly. This is the case, e.g., for the series a(n) = n(-t) that defines the Riemann zeta-function. In such cases, to compute s with a reasonable accuracy, we need unrealistically large values n, and thus, a large amount of computation. Usually, the n-th term of the series can be obtained by applying a smooth function ƒ(x) to the value n: an = ƒ(n). In such situations, we can get more accurate estimates if instead of using the upper bounds on the remainder infinite sum R = ƒ(n + 1) + ƒ(n + 2) + . . ., we approximate this remainder by the corresponding integral I of ƒ(x) (from x = n + 1 to infinity), and find good bounds on the difference I - R. First, we derive sixth order quadrature formulas for functions whose 6th derivative is either always positive or always negative and then we use these quadrature formulas to get good bounds on I - R, and thus good approximations for the sum s of the infinite series. Several examples (including the Riemann zeta-function) show the efficiency of this new method. This paper continues the results from [3] and [2].

Opis:
In this paper a construction of a one-parameter family of quadrature formulas is presented. This family contains the classical quadrature formulas: trapezoidal rule, mid-point rule and two-point Gauss rule. One can prove that for any continuous function there exists a parameter for which the value of quadrature formula is equal to the integral. Some applications of this family to the construction of cubature formulas, numerical solution of ordinary differential equations and integral equations are presented.

Opis:
Introduction and objective. Viral hepatitis C remains one of the major health and social problems related to infectious diseases in Poland. The aim of the study was assessment of the registered changes in the incidence of HCV in the Silesian Province of western Poland during the last 10 years, including age, gender and place of residence. Materials and method. A retrospective analysis was performed of the HCV incidence between 2005–2014 in the Silesian Province. The crude and standardized incidence rates were calculated for males and females in each year. Subsequently, the territorial diversity of the epidemiological situation in the districts was assessed by calculating the average incidence rate over the entire study period. Results. Incidence rates calculated according to the case definition of 2005 ranged between 5.95/100000 in 2005 to 10.36/100000 in 2014. Analysis of the structure of the incidence showed that during the analyzed period, the majority of hepatitis C cases were related to males (52.5%) rather than females (47.5%), and hepatitis C was more prevalent in younger males (aged 20–49) and older females (aged over 50). After excluding the effect of age, the standardized rates were twice as low, compared to the crude incidence rates. Conclusions. An increase in the HCV incidence rate was observed in males and females. It is obvious that the detection of additional cases will entail the need to provide funding for the treatment of more patients, which should be included in the map of regional health needs in the coming years. Our study demonstrates the temporal and spatial variability of HCV incidence in the Silesian Province of Poland. The observed increase in the crude and standardized rates suggests that the current registry system of HCV in Poland is more effective now. The current situation is comparable with the data in other EU countries.

Opis:
This study investigated the floral biology and pollen quantity and quality of Campanula bononiensis L. (Campanulaceae), a protected species in Poland. Observations and measurements were made during the years 2007–2009 in natural phytocoenoses from the Festuco-Brometea class situated within the Lublin area, SE Poland. A considerable decrease (approx. 87%) in population density was observed. Significant variations both in the amount of pollen (18.5%–34.8 % of pollen in the total anther dry weight, i.e. 0.5–1.5 mg per 10 anthers) and in pollen viability (38.8–97.0%) were noted. Both a low amount of pollen and low pollen viability may reduce the reproductive success of individuals. The most frequent visiting insects were bees (Apoidea), including solitary bees 45.7%, honeybees 20.4%, and bumblebees 11.4%. Dipterans, coleopterans (weevils), lepidopterans and ants were also recorded, implying a strong impact of C. bononiensis on insect biodiversity within grasslands.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczą- ce aspektów kwitnienia, cech ilościowych i jakościowych pyłku Campanula bononiensis L. (Campanulaceae), gatunku objętego w Polsce ustawową ochrony. Obserwacje prowadzono latach 2007–2009, w naturalnej fitocenozie z klasy Festuco-Brometea zlokalizowanej w Lublinie.

Opis:
The flowering, nectar production and sugar content were examined in 2012–2013 seasons for three Campanula species (C. persicifolia L., C. glomerata L., C. trachelium L.). The flowers of all studied Campanula spp. are distinctly protandrous; most of them opened between 10.00 and 14.00; only the flowers of C. glomerata continued the opening process until 16.00 (GMT + 2 h). The flower life-span differed between species and was the longest for C. persicifolia – ca. 5.5 days and lasted 3.0–3.5 days in C. glomerata and C. trachelium. The duration of the male phase was 2–3 fold shorter (C. persicifolia and C. glomerata) than the female phase or was equal (C. trachelium). Irrespective of the year of study and the species, the female-biased nectar production pattern was evidenced. The amount of nectar accumulated at the female phase reached 70–87% of the maximum nectar produced by a flower. The total sugar yield (0.4– 12.2 g/10 m2) established for the studied species is low compared to other herbaceous meadow species. However, due to diverse insect visitors groups, the Campanula flowers can be recommended to support pollinators in home gardens or on idle lands.

We report on the optical experiments performed on low density GaN/AlGaN quantum dots grown on sapphire substrate using SiN during the growth process. The existence of quantum dots in the investigated structures was confirmed by atomic force microscopy. Although macro-luminescence of the investigated structures consist of broad emission lines the micro-photoluminescence experiments performed with the spatial resolution of 0.25 μm revealed sharp emission lines from the individual quantum dot in the energy range of 3.20-3.55 eV. It is shown that the magnetic fields up to 7 T do not influence significantly the electronic states of the dots.

Opis:
Exciton localization in GaN/AlGaN quantum well structures is studied by photoluminescence. An anomalous temperature behavior of the photoluminescence from the quantum well is observed. With increasing temperature the energy position of the excitonic emission line first decreases up to 20 K, then increases, reaching a maximum around 90 K, and then decreases again in the higher temperature range. The observed behavior is discussed in terms of localization at the interface potential fluctuations. It is argued that the temperature activated migration and subsequent release of the excitons from traps that occurs between 20 K and 90 K are responsible for the observed S-like shape of the energy dependence. The obtained results allow a direct characterization of the energy fluctuations present in GaN/AlGaN quantum wells grown by different techniques.
