- The main sources of vitamins A and E on global scale as compared to human nutritional needs are reviewed. Selected methods of bio-assay for both vitamins or quantitative determination are also presented. As both vitamins are not fully absorbed in the gut from various food products the need for proper interpretation of such data is critically evaluated. Some proposals for the practical use of bio-assays are made. Also some comparisons between the contents of the vitamin versus RDA considering extrinsic and intrinsic factors affecting bioavailability of vitamin A and E are carried out. Further studies are suggested by the authors.
