Opis:
The main purpose of the article is to analyse the renewable energy sources labour market in the country based on the example of survey studies conducted in Lower Silesia in 2010 commissioned by the Marshal’s Office. The author took part in the discussed project as a member of the research team and is the co-author of the final publication. The study was conducted as part of a project by the Department of Economic Development of the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in 2010 entitled “Prognoses and analyses of the potential of the Lower Silesia to use renewable energy sources”. The article has analysed the following: employment in the RES sector, revenues and savings due to RES, and human resources. The author has also identified the pro-employment effects in the RES sector on the domestic and EU markets; she has also made prognoses for the demand for work in the RES sector. Study results show that the increase of employment in the sector resulting from the increase in production and installed power shall be related to biomass, solar power, and wind power technologies. From the data pertaining to employment in Lower Silesia one may conclude that the RES sector employs mostly specialists, managers, and physical labourers. Unmet demand for physical workers in the forestry and agricultural sectors is visible.

Opis:
The paper presents a new approach to modeling the variability of power generation from a renewable source such as wind or flowing water. The force of the power generating agent is assumed to change according to the semi-Markov process with finite state space. For the purpose of its construction, the range of possible values expressing the agent’s force is divided into a finite number of subintervals. It is natural to assume that the time during which the agent’s force remains within one such interval, and the probabilities of transitions to neighboring intervals depend to some extent on the agent’s earlier behavior. The model’s accuracy is determined by the number of subintervals used and the assumed degree to which the agent’s force depends on its history. This degree is expressed by the number of the most recently entered subintervals relevant to predicting the agent’s future behavior. According to the presupposed accuracy level, an appropriately complex state-space and a diagram of the inter-state transitions for the modeled process have been constructed. Subsequently, it is demonstrated how certain parameters of this process, related to forecasting power generation, can be calculated by means of the calculus of the Laplace transforms.

The increased demand for energy determines the need to search for its next sources. One of them could be renewable energy sources, whose importance is increasing, among others, due to the limited resources of fossil fuels. In addition, renewable energy production has many benefits, mainly environmental and economic. Moreover, the social aspects associated with it cannot be ignored. The aim of this work was to discuss selected social benefits resulting from the production of renewable energy. Among the most important advantages of renewable energy sources is their local aspect, since energy production solves many regional problems, mainly related to its transport. The issue of energy security is also essential. In the case of biofuel production, the possibility of involving waste in energy production is extremely beneficial. The use of renewable energy itself directly affects the improvement of the environment, which in turn has a positive effect on people. Nowadays, sustainable development is one of the most critical challenges of humanity. These activities are closely related to the use of renewable energy sources. It is important to pay attention not only to subjects related to the environmental and economic aspects but also the impact of renewable energy sources on society.
Opis:
Renewable energy sources (RES) have significant potential to contribute to the economic, social and environmental energy sustainability of small islands. They improve access to energy for most of the population, they also reduce emissions of local and global pollutants and they may create local socioeconomic development opportunities. A majority of the communities around the world rely heavily on oil, natural gas and coal for their energy needs. These fuels draw on lots of resources that will eventually diminish, which in turn makes them too expensive or too environmentally damaging to recover. This review article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energies; therefore based on the benefits of these energy resources, the use of renewable energies, instead of, fossil fuels will be a good solution for the control of the environmental, social and economical problems of our communities.

The reduction of natural resources and the ever increasing demand for energy forces research on new energy sources. In the case of obtaining energy from non-renewable sources of energy, natural resources are used as fuel in the combustion process. This way relatively high calorific value is achieved but it is associated with the number of fundamental flaws. Among other things, this may include destruction of the environment in the vicinity of extraction of conventional fuels’ sources, emission of large amounts of harmful substances during the combustion of conventional fuels causing the pollution of natural environment and there is a danger of life or health loss for people working in the extraction of fossil fuels. The use of renewable energy sources is related to interesting investment opportunities in the energy field and there are no problems mentioned above. For these reasons, it is worthwhile to conduct research on improving investment efficiency by using new, renewable sources. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is showing the opportunities of improving efficiency of electric power investment by using renewable energy sources. This article presents a comprehensive overview of renewable technologies used to produce electricity. Then, the attention was focused on assessing the financial efficiency of wind turbines. The considerations were illustrated with the examples of calculation of financial ratios NPV and IRR for a hypothetical investment in the production of electric power using the wind farm. The calculations and analysis conducted can provide interesting basis for further research on improving electric power investment efficiency by using renewable energy sources and new comprehensive evaluation methods of such investments. Comprehensive evaluation methods should take into consideration multifaceted nature of the projects.

In terms of climate forecasting, the Mediterranean region is among the most difficult. It is correlated with the five significant subtropical high pressure belts of the oceans and is symbolized by dry and hot summer and cold and rainy winter. Due to its location in the area, Albania is particularly susceptible to climatic changes. It has been noted that summertime sees the greatest temperature increases. More intense heat waves that stay longer and occur more frequently are anticipated in the eastern Mediterranean. The seasonal patterns of precipitation have not changed, but the amount of rain has become more intense. The effects of climate change have drawn attention to various renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power. In this study, the changes and prospective in average temperature, rainfall, humidity, CO2 emission and their impact in energy production were investigated. Several different models such as Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average method; Prophet algorithm; Elastic-Net Regularized Generalized Linear Model; Random Forest Regression models; Prophet Boost algorithm; have been built for the study and prediction of each variable. The appropriate models are used to determine the anticipated values of the indicators for a period of four years. The prediction shows an increase in CO2 emission which leads to a decrease in energy production by hydropower. These findings suggest the use of other renewable sources for energy production in the country and the Mediterranean region.

Inherent in the continuous development of civilization is a constant increase in demand for electricity. The result of this situation could be a threat to cover domestic demand for electricity generated from domestic sources. It is significant therefore, to increase the energy security of the country, as well as to generate a positive impact on the development and dynamics of social and economic processes which is carried by the development of renewable energy sources. A crucial argument for the need to implement new sustainable solutions is growing environmental degradation and pollution resulting from the acquisition and use of non-renewable energy resources. Renewable energy resource for interest of this analysis is the wind. A crucial feature of the wind is its high volatility. Wind speed is characterized by diurnal, seasonal and long-term variation. The study area is Sosnowiec city. The analysis covers the data from the period 2002 – 2011 obtained using a meteorological station located in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Silesia in Sosnowiec. Analyzed data are observations of wind speed measured at the height of 10m above the ground – average values of 10 minutes. The mean and maximum daily, monthly and annual values of wind speed have been calculated, and on their basis, a relevant analysis have been made. Average wind speed value for the analyzed area of the analyzed period (2002 – 2011) is 1,70m/s, while the maximum wind speed value is 3,78m/s. Sosnowiec is located in zone IV – unfavorable for the use of wind energy.

Non-renewable fossil fuels are unable to fulfil today`s requirements of the societies in terms of energy requirements. The increasing demands for energy have emphasized the researchers to search for alternative sources of energy. Among distinct alternative energy resources, bioethanol has attracted an immense attention worldwide. Currently, lignocellulosic biomasses are considered as the largest renewable resources for the production of bioethanol due to its maximum abundance on the earth. Pre-treated lignocellulosic biomasses are converted into bioethanol by both direct microbial conversion and hydrolysis process along with fermentation. Immobilization and nanotechnology have shown effective roles in the improvement of bioethanol from lignocellulosic biomasses. This review focuses on recent developments in bioethanol production from varied lignocellulosic biomasses as cheep feedstock.
