The main aim of this article is to develop mathematical equations of the performance stream (Vc) of a water ram with regard to the height of water delivery (hc). The study was performed on the sample water ram of my own design mounted on a specially designed test stand. The content of the article is divided into two parts. The first part describes a generalized equation on the base formulae used historically to determine the performance of the water ram. The second part presents the results of research and summarizes the mathematical equations determining the streams performance (Vc) according to the height of water delivery (hc). In conclusion the article makes interpretations of the results. The motivation to approach these issues stems from the question: How much will the performance of the water ram has on the ability to set a receiver tank at different heights?

The paper presents the results of a study investigating the equilibrium of forces acting on the closing element of the impulse valve in a water ram at the end of the acceleration stage. Acceleration is one of the three main stages in the working cycle of a water ram. In the first part of the paper, we estimated water velocity based on our earlier experimental measurements. We also calculated the minimum force required for closing the impulse valve. The second part of the paper discusses two variants of a numerical model, which was developed in ANSYS Fluent to determine the resultant hydrodynamic pressure and, consequently, the forces acting on the head of the impulse valve at the end of the acceleration stage. The main aim of this research was to verify the applicability of numerical modeling in water ram studies. The present study was motivated by the fact that Computational Fluid Dynamics is very rarely applied to water rams. In particular, we have not found any numerical studies related to the equilibrium of forces acting on the closing element of the impulse valve in a water ram.

Opis:
March tests are widely used in the process of RAM testing. This family of tests is very efficient in the case of simple faults such as stuck-at or transition faults. In the case of a complex fault model-such as pattern sensitive faults-their efficiency is not sufficient. Therefore we have to use other techniques to increase fault coverage for complex faults. Multibackground memory testing is one of such techniques. In this case a selected March test is run many times. Each time it is run with new initial conditions. One of the conditions which we can change is the initial memory background. In this paper we compare the efficiency of multibackground tests based on four different algorithms of background generation.

The modern market for personal protection devices has brought about such challenges as the need to phrase legal regulations regarding possession and use of such devices. The aim of the study is to answer the questions whether RAM devices are firearms and whether they are weapons at all within the meaning of the Act of 21 May 1999 on weapons and ammunition. On the way to achieve this goal, a thorough analysis of the translation of the detailed charac- terisation of RAM devices into specific definitions of the Act in question is used. The result of the author’s research is the conclusion that RAM devices are neither weapons nor firearms within the meaning of Polish legislation. Furthermore, the article provides a number of legal consequences resulting from such research conclusions, e.g. no obligation to undergo medi- cal or psychological examinations by a potential RAM device owner.

In this work, the authors continue researching issues related to fatigue of aircraft structures made of fabrics. Parachute systems are widely used in military, sport and recreational aviation. Braking parachutes as well as skydiving and troop parachutes are characterized by the repeated use of parachute canopies, which are exposed to wear and fatigue. Until now, parachutes were difficult to design aviation systems due to their complex and unsteady opening characteristics, large changes in the geometry of canopies, suspension lines and tape risers as well as exposure to stochastic atmospheric turbulence. The fatigue of the canopy fabric, suspension lines and tape risers is a problem that must be addressed by textile designers and designers of reusable parachute systems. The authors of this work demonstrate the complexity of operating a parachute in hard multiple use conditions and propose ways to extend the parachute’s service life without compromising safety.

The objective of the present investigation was to study the chemical composition of stem of Pongamia pinnata is a species of tree native to India growing in semi-arid region of Kachchh district, Gujarat, India. The stem of Pongamia pinnata were subjected to Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) and were analyzed for different mineral composition. As the X-ray Fluorescence is one of the most reliable and accurate, as well as it is also a consistent and nondestructive method for analysis of major and trace elements using a single pressed pellet. During the study it was found that Potassium, Chloride, Calcium, Silicon, Sulfur, Aluminum, Phosphorus were noted in higher amounts, compared to that of other elements like Manganese, Iron, Nickel, Copper, Zink, Bromide, Rubidium, Strontium, Stannous, whereas the elements which were not detected in stem of Pongamia pinnata are Titanium, Cobalt, Hafnium and Tantalum.

The aim of the study was to verify the quality of ram semen, frozen in 1982-1983, from the historical collection of the Bank of Biological Material of the National Research Institute of Animal Production. A total of 18 ejaculates from 3 Świniarka type rams were analyzed to assess sperm motility (subjectively), total motility, progressive motility, sperm concentration (CASA), membrane integrity (SYBR-14/PI) and chromatin structure (SCSA). In order to determine sperm fertilizing ability 49 ewes were intracervically inseminated (200×106 sperm per AI) with frozen- thawed semen 12 and 24 hours after detection of estrus. Sperm motility parameters, membrane intact spermatozoa and DFI did not differ among the analyzed rams. Spermatozoa concentration was significantly higher for ram no. 2 than for rams no. 1 and 3. The lambing rates (27.3 to 36.0%) did not differ significantly for individual rams. The ram semen, which had been stored for around 40 years, showed satisfactory quality and fertilizing capacity, allowing for its use in artificial insemination.

Dabigatran with IUPAC name 3-({2-[(4-Carbamimidoyl-phenylamino)-methyl]-1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazole-5-carbonyl}-pyridin-2-yl-amino)-propionic acid, which can be used to prevent strokes in those with atrial fibrillation due to causes other than heart valve disease, and at least one additional risk factor for stroke (congestive heart failure, hypertension, age, diabetes, and prior stroke), with molecular formula C34H41N7H5 was studied in detail for functional group analysis with FTIR, characteristic absorbance by UV-NIR, thermal behavior by TGA-DTA-DSC, particle size and stability of the molecule with Nano particle size analyzer. The structure was confirmed by LC-MS/MS with ESI probe and mass was found in aggregation with the reported standard values. The purity of drug was determined by Prep. HPLC analysis. FTIR analysis showed the characteristic peak of carboxylic acid, UV-NIR analysis showed that the λmax was 224 nm with methanol as a diluent, the compound was found stable in the thermal analysis, the average particle size was found to be 25.2 nm, Z-average as 0.2 nm and zeta potential as -67.6 mv hence showed excellent stability in the zeta potential analysis as per ASTM standards D4187-82, American Society of Testing and Materials, 1985.

An experimental study on Carica papaya leaves was carried out in Thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA), Differential Thermal Analyzer (DTA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetric (DSC) analyzer to investigate the effects of reaction atmosphere on thermal chemical characteristics. Experimental results show that In DSC curve, Endothermic peak at 101 °C is attributed to dehydration/Water loss from surface and pores of the powder sample. Step at 215 °C is associated with second order phase transition such as Glass Transition and it should be further confirmed in second heating (During heat- cool- heat cycle). Endothermic peak at 336 °C is associated protease thermal decomposition /Beta Cyclodextrin breakdown. In the TGA Curve, The initial 4 % weight loss is due to water loss from surface/pores of powder sample. Second weight loss between 200-450 °C is associated to degradation of cellulose and hemicellulose.

This paper presents an evaluation of muck pile fragmentation based on the Kuz-Ram empirical model. Furthermore, a comparison of the cumulative size distribution curves obtained from the photogrammetry analysis and based on the Kuz-Ram model was made. Size distribution was performed based on the Kuz-Ram model and further validated in the O-Pitblast software. It was established that the algorithm applied in O-Pitblast software was not modified. The difference between empirical results and in-situ analysis could be explained by, inter alia, the subjective assumption of the RMD index value.
W artykule przedstawiono teoretyczne podstawy wyznaczania przewidywanej fragmentacji urobku oparciu model Kuz-Ram. Dodatkowo, wykonano porównanie krzywych składu ziarnowego uzyskanych na podstawie metody fotogrametrycznej oraz modelu Kuz-Ram. Procentowy udział frakcji dla charakterystycznych wielkości ziarna wyznaczono na podstawie równania Kuz-Ram, zaś dodatkową weryfikację przeprowadzono programie O-Pitblast, przy użyciu modułu analitycznego bazującego na analizowanym modelu fragmentacji. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono brak wprowadzenia modyfikacji do algorytmu programu O-Pitblast. Uzyskane różnice procentowego udziału frakcji wyznaczonej na podstawie obliczeń teoretycznych, oraz badań in-situ, można tłumaczyć m.in. subiektywnym przyjęciem współczynnika RMD.
