Opis:
We consider the problem of optimal estimation of a state of a quantum system interacting with the Bose field being in a mixture of the vacuum and coherent state. The system and electromagnetic field are described by making use of quantum stochastic unitary evolution. We derive stochastic master equation using Gardiner and Collet's input-output theory and the concept of cascade systems. To find the stochastic evolution of the system conditioned on the result of the quadrature measurement of the output field, we extend the compound system by an ancilla driven by the vacuum and generating the desired non-classical state of light.

Opis:
The development of quantum computing in quantum dots systems requires highly efficient and continuous solid-state source of spatially separated spin-entangled electrons. One of the approaches is a use of double quantum dot system connected to superconducting lead, where Cooper pairs provide a source of naturally entangled electrons. Apart from the source, an useful tool for detection of quantum entanglement is needed. We present entanglement detection by the ferromagnetic electrodes using entanglement witness operator method and direct measurement of spin polarized current in the system. We investigate requirements that have to be fulfilled by ferromagnetic detectors.

Samples with InGaAs/GaAs quantum wells were grown by metallo-organic chemical vapour deposition in order to detect and analyze GaSb islands deposited on the surface. Results of photoreflectance measurements of quantum wells are reported. The correspondence between broadening of quantum well transition lines and GaSb structures has been observed.

We report on design and construction of a single-mode-fiber-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer system for measuring single photon indistinguishability from quantum dots emitting in visible spectrum (630±50 nm). The performance of the instrument was tested for its efficiency and usability in single-photon correlation measurements in a proposed experimental setup.

Opis:
The paper covers some measurement aspects of transport of electrons through metals and semiconductors in magnetic field - magnetotransport - allowing for the determination of electrical parameters characteristic of three-dimensional (3D) topological insulators (TI) (i.e. those that behave like an insulator inside their volume and have a conductive layer on their surface). A characteristic feature of the 3D TI is also a lack of differences between the chemical composition of the conductive surface and the interior of the material tested and the fact that the electron states for its surface conductivity are topologically protected. In particular, the methods of generating strong magnetic fields, obtaining low temperatures, creating electrical contacts with appropriate geometry were presented, and the measurement methods were reviewed. In addition, the results of magnetotransport measurements obtained for two volumetric samples based on the HgCdTe compound grown with the molecular beam epitaxy method are presented.

Opis:
.
A problem (P) of minimization of the duration time of the measurements of automatic telecommunication channels is considered. P is a discrete optimization problem solved by graph theory methods. It is defined by (i)-(v), where: (i) for each i, 1≤i≤p, and j, 1≤1≤p, there are given k ij channels to be measured between node ”i” and node ”j”; (ii) measurement of one channel lasts one unit; (iii) there are exactly two devices, say A, B, in each node (the case where there is an arbitrary number of devices A, B in each node may be easily reduced to this case); (iv) the channel between node ”i” and node ”j” may be measured only by use of device A being present in node ”i” and device B in node ”j”; (v) in each time both devices A or B may measure only one channel. To solve P, some knowledge of hypergraphs as well as functional analysis (the Krein-Milman theorem) and linear algebra (the Koenig theorem) is necessary. The Koenig theorem is proved in a simple manner similarly as the dual Koenig theorem (which is a new result). As corollaries the Birkhoff theorem about bistochastic matrices and the dual Birkhoff theorem are deduced.
